Chapter 40: Surprise!

“Marry me.”

He held the ring box in his hand and my hand in the other.

I couldn’t imagine my life without him so of course...

“Yes!” tears fell and it was perfect.

I just got engaged to the man I loved with every fibre of my being.

He kissed me deeply and slipped the ring on.

“You’re stuck with me now, Miss Price.” he chuckled.

“Oh, how will I ever escape.”

“You can try, but don’t expect to get far.”

Then he turned serious so I knew he wasn’t joking with the next line.

“I’m not going to let anyone hurt you ever again.”

It had been a few days since I was allowed out of hospital and Noah was driving me crazy!

It was all,

“Be careful, you’ll tear your wound open.”

“Don’t do that, you’ll hurt yourself.”

I swear I’m going to lose it.

I had a break from it today because he’d gone to work.

He made Mrs. Trenton keep an eye on me but he had no idea that her alliance was with me.

She loves me more.

Take that, Noah!

I’d told her to take the day off.

I got bored so did my usual go to boredom killer.

I was still cooking when Noah walked in.

“What on earth are you doing?” his voice rising.

“What does it look like?”

“Where’s Mrs. Trenton?”

“She left.”

“Blake, step away from the stove.” he stalked towards me.

When he got to me, he took the spoon out of my hand and put it on the counter.

He turned me to face him and held me around my waist.

“Why aren’t you resting?”

“Because I’m not a doll. I’m not as fragile as you think I am, Noah.”

“I know you’re not, but you’re still healing. I’m just looking out for you because I love you.”

Why does he have to be so cute?

I groaned and he knew he’d won.

He sat me down on a dining chair and finished off the cooking.

My stitches had healed and I was back to work.

As soon as the stitches were gone, Noah took full advantage.

He had dealt with blue balls for so long.

Poor guy!

It was Saturday and his parents had invited us over for a barbecue.

They had met Tristan last week for the first time and loved him.

He was getting ready in his room while Noah and I were in ours.

Noah was in a denim shirt and jeans and he looked so damn delicious!

I had picked out a summer dress seeing as it was really warm today.

He came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist and smiled through the mirror.

“You look ravishing, Miss Price.” he whispered in my ear before moving his lips to my neck.

“If you don’t stop Mr. Anderson, we are going to be very late.”

“I’m sure they won’t mind.” his lips curled up into a smirk against my skin.

Just as it was getting heated, there was a knock at the door.

“Fucking hell!” Noah whispered making me laugh at him.

“We’re coming out now.” I called.

We walked out to find Tristan and his girlfriend waiting for us.

The driver took us today.

We arrived at his parents house and Tristan and Lucy ran to the back yard.

They had been acting weird since we got in the car and we soon found out why.

“SURPRISE!” shouted around 200 people, many our friends, family and colleagues.

His parents came up and handed us champagne.

“Happy engagement party!” Sarah said, pulling us into a hug.

“Thank you for this, its beautiful.”

“Oh honey, its the least we could do for the girl that’s made our son so happy.”

There was only one person missing from today.

Noah knows me a little too well because he whispered,

“She’s watching.”

He kissed me and led me to the patio to dance.

We spent a little while doing that before we went round meeting everyone and thanking them for being here today.

The engagement party lasted long into the night.
