Chapter 41: In Sickness...
We had just gotten a call from the police.
We had skipped the trial because I never wanted to see that bastard’s face ever again.
Owen had been given the death penalty because he not only was up for the murder of my mother but he also had charges for breaking out of prison, attempted murder on my part and domestic violence charges from Philidelphia. He was due to be given the lethal injection tomorrow at 3pm.
Alex was given 15 years in jail. He was originally going to get 6 years but the police finally found the missing evidence that brought justice for Laura.
His company collapsed overnight as soon as the press caught wind of his criminal record.
I woke before Noah.
I couldn’t get his arm off me.
“Babe! Wake up, I gotta go to the bathroom.” I tried to shake him awake.
When he still didn’t wake up, I had to go to plan B.
Push him off the bed.
He landed with a thump.
“Ouch, what the heck?”
“Sorry babe.” I shouted, running in there and emptying the contents of my stomach.
Holding the toilet bowl, I waited to see if there was anymore.
“Are you okay, baby?” Noah knocked on the door.
“Yeah, I’ll be out in a sec.”
When I was sure there was no more, I cleaned my teeth and walked out.
I found him back in bed.
“Are you coming down with something?” he asked with his cute pouty lip.
“I think so.”
“Babe you need to go to the doctor.” Noah said as he watched me puke for the third time this morning.
“I know. I got an appointment for this afternoon.”
“Good. I wish I could go with you. ”
“It’s ok. I’m sure its just a stomach bug. You go to your meetings and I’ll call you after.” I reassured him.
He left after a lingering kiss.
So here I am, sat in a doctors office, waiting while she gets my test results.
“Okay. I have your results, Miss Price.”
“Is everything alright?”
“Everything is good. You’re actually 6 weeks pregnant.” she said, cheerily.
“What? How is that possible? I’m on the pill.”
“The pill has a 99% success rate as contraception. The other 1% is the kicker.”
I have a child in there.
“I’m going to prescribe you with cyclizine for the sickness and set you up with a midwife.”
With that I left the doctors office with my prescription in hand and a lot on my mind.
Did Noah even want kids? Was it too soon?
I had been worried about Blake the other day. She was so ill.
But the doc gave her the all clear and gave her some meds for the viral infection.
“Hey Noah, I got those files you wanted.” my head of finance, Darius came into my office.
As I looked through them, he pointed at the box of pills and said,
“What do you mean?” my confusion evident on my face.
Why was he congratulating my girl for having a viral infection?
“When my wife was pregnant, those were a god send for the morning sickness. How’s Blake doing with them?”
Did he just say......?
No I’m hearing things. Right?
“Sorry, I think I blanked out for a sec. Could you repeat that?”
“Yeah, I asked how’s Blake doing with the morning sickness?”
So I did hear that right.
“ummmm.... She’s doing fine... Like you said those pills are a god send.” I say, forcing a laugh.
He gives me a thumbs up and leaves the room.
A few minutes later, Blake comes in.
“Hey, did I leave my medication in here?”
I nod my head to the desk.
“When were you going to tell me?” I asked her.
Her eyes bugged out.
“How did you know?”
“Darius saw them and asked if it was helping your morning sickness.” I rounded the desk to stand in front of her.
“I wanted to tell you straight away but I was scared. We’ve never even talked about kids. I don’t even know if you want this.” she rambled, tears forming in her eyes.
Is she crazy? How could I not want this?
I went straight over to her and held her in my arms.
“Hey, shhhh. Why wouldn’t I want this? I want you and everything that comes with that. I love you.” I whispered.
She looked up at me and I looked at the woman that had changed my entire life.
