Chapter 7: Noah Anderson

NOAH’S POV

The ringing of my alarm nearly split my head open.

Most of my mornings started hungover lately.

Today I get my new assistant.

My last one was incompetent to say the least but that was down to me, seeing as I hired her.

All I saw were the tits.

That’s why I let my HR manager Mrs. Griffith find the new one. I trusted her judgement and when she informed me she’d found the perfect candidate, I was glad.

I wasn’t sure what to expect but I’m sure Mrs Griffith gave her the warning she gives to everyone who starts at the company.

You see I’m known as somewhat of a dick. And for good reason.

I have become a total asshole but do I care?

Absolutely not!
If it gets the work done, so be it.

There was a small knock at the door.

I called for the person to enter and in stepped a timid girl.

She looked around the room with wide eyes and then landed on me.

She stared for a while and I had to speak to get her attention.

“Who are you?”

“I’m your new P.A sir.”

I looked her up and down before speaking again, “You’re late.”

“Sir, I was here at 9am.” she stuttered a little.

“Let me tell you something Miss......”

“Price”

I knew her name but she didn’t know that. I just wanted to make her sweat.

“Miss Price, being early is being on time. Remember that for next time.”

She nodded.

“Now, I need you to get started right away but first, go down the hall to the break room and get me a coffee. Black, 2 sugars. You will do this first every single morning from now on. And then I will tell you what to do next. Go. ” I ordered and then went back to my computer. I had a lot of work to do.

She came back a few minutes later and placed the coffee on my desk.

“Your office is right next door. Everything is set up already. I need you to transfer all these files,” I handed a stack of them over, “onto the computer.” and with that, I sent her on her way.

She looked so innocent. Lets just hope she’s good at her job.

It had been a few days since my new assistant had started working here.

I have to say she was doing a good job. On her second day she actually arrived early and brought my coffee straight away. Quick learner.

In about half an hour, I have to meet with Alex Carter.

He’s the CEO of a company we do business with but I hate him with a passion.

If it weren’t in our best interest to stay on good terms, I would have punched that asshole in the face by now.

I was currently in my office with a woman from a couple of floors down. What’s her name again?

I don’t even give a shit.

We were almost finished, when someone knocked on the door.

They’d leave if I don’t answer, right?

Wrong.

Miss. Price barged in and her face turned beet red when she realised what she walked in on.

I almost laughed at her reaction.

She ran out of there like a shot.

I checked the time and realised why she’d shown up.

The meeting.

A few minutes later, I was right behind her when she was explaining where I was.

To say she got a fright was an understatement.

We all sat down and got on with the meeting.

Halfway through, Mr. Carter wasn’t even paying attention.

He was eyeing my assistant.

I knew for a fact he was fucking his own.

“Is there something you would like to say Alex?” I asked.

Snapping his eyes back to me, he shook his head.

I continued the meeting with hatred burning inside for this guy.

“We weren’t officially introduced. Alex Carter. You are?” he held his hand out to Miss Price at the end.

“Blake Price. Mr. Anderson’s PA.” she gave him her hand but instead of shaking it, he placed a kiss on her knuckles.

Time to put an end to it.

“Miss Price, don’t you have work to do?”

She stalked past me back to her office.

“Problem, Noah? Worried your little assistant might get snatched away from you?” Alex had that smug smile on his face.

“Don’t even think about it Carter!” I left him at the elevator and went back to my office.

I was running late today.

The woman I took home last night just would not leave!

I left my housekeeper to deal with her.

Getting to the top floor, I went straight to Miss Price’s office.

“Have you finished with those files Miss. Price?”

“Almost.” She answered, looking at me with her hazel eyes.

I leaned against the door, waiting for her to finish.

The office phone rang and she answered.

“Good afternoon, Anderson Enterprise, this is Mr. Anderson’s PA, how can I help?”

Who was it?

“Oh hey Alex! What can I do for you?”

That fucker! What on earth does he want?

“Friday? Sure. What time?”

“Ok. See you Friday. ”

So he didn’t listen.

She hung up.

“Keep personal calls for after work, Miss. Price.” I spoke finally.

“Sorry, sir.”

She passed me the files, and I walked out, fuming.

It was now Wednesday and I was waiting for Miss Price to arrive.

Luckily, we had a business trip that we needed to go on so I could quash the plan Carter had.

I had no idea what he actually had planned, but I know it wasn’t good.

When she arrived, I barely gave her chance to get situated before firing off orders.

“I need you to call my pilot and arrange the flight plan for London on Friday morning. I also need you to call my housekeeper over there, Mrs. Trenton. Have her get the place ready and stocked for a week. We will be having a meeting with Mr. Giles on Monday to finalise plans on some properties we will be looking at.”

“Of course sir.” She turned to walk out but spun back round.

“Ummm, Sir, when you say we...”

There it is!

“I mean you and I, Miss Price. You’re my assistant, I need you there for the meeting,”

She looked down at her hands.

“Is there a problem Miss Price?”

“No, Sir. I just had plans on Friday--”

I cut her off before she could continue.

“Yes, your little date with Mr. Carter. Let me just be clear Miss. Price. Mr. Carter isn’t who you think he is, so I am doing you a favour.”

She looked mad.

“Sir, with all due respect, what I do or who I see out of office hours, doesn’t concern you.”

“Ok, you can stay here and go out on Friday, but you will no longer be in a job. Is that okay with you Miss. Price?”

She opened her mouth to try and say something a few times but then closed it.

1 point to me!

“Now, go sort the flight plan.” I said dismissing her with a smirk.

She stomped out of my office like a child making me chuckle quietly.
