Chapter 12

Maybe I’m scared because
You mean more to me than
Any other person. You are
Everything I think about,
Everything I need,
Everything I want.

*Edited

“What the hell do you think you all are doing!?” I asked with my eyes widened.

Yes, I was being kidnapped by three guys who were the last people I want to talk to. Adam, Chris and Ryder.

The look on their faces made me look at them in disbelief.

Ryder was in the front seat driving and looked at me through the rear-view mirror controlling his laugh.

Chris was on my left smirking at me as if he knew exactly what I was thinking.

Then the next thing I noticed was Adam on my right. He didn’t say anything but the look on his face showed that he was doing this forcefully.

“Are you guys planning on tell me why I am being kidnapped when the school is not yet over. Do you even have any idea how dangerous it could be? Me missing school can get me into serious trouble. Like detention! I don-” I was not able to complete my sentence because both Ryder and Chris were laughing like maniacs, I even noticed the small chuckle that came out of Adam.

I don’t understand what is so funny about this. If I do get even a single detention slip, my college application will be affected and I don’t want that. At least not in my senior year.

“You are worried about detention out of all the possible outcomes?” Said an amused Ryder trying to control his laughter so he could actually focus on the drive. But when I gave him a horrified look, he again burst out laughing and I could see the tears forming in the corner of his eyes. Chris was still laughing so hard clutching his stomach with both hands as if it was hurting him to even breathe.

Adam was trying to control his laughter and was succeeding for a while when even he couldn’t control it and laughed so hard that no sound came after a while and all he was doing was making faces.

“What do you mean?” I asked Ryder as he literally stopped the car to laugh his heart out.

“I-I me-mean that out of all the worst scenarios that you might face in a few hours, you are afraid that the worst thing would be getting detention.” He said now being a bit sober from his comedic fits.

“Well yeah. School is the most important thing to me. It ensures that I can get a scholarship for college, which kinda matters to me more than anything right now.” I replied with a hint of sarcasm and a lot of irritation.

“Oh, trust me. You won’t be worrying about college for a long time.” Adam stated out of nowhere to which I looked at him as if to find the meaning behind the words and noticed that both the boys were looking at him as if he said something he was not supposed to say.

I gained my attention and then I enquired him, “What does that supposed to mean?”

“Oh, uh no-nothing.” Adam stuttered.

“Don’t you want to know where we are going?” Chris asked and taking this as a cue Ryder started to drive again. I nodded my head at Chris.

At that moment I almost forgot about the whole Edward thing and that I am mad at him. These guys have such an aura that they can make you forget anything bad happening in your life. Especially Chris. He is the kind of guy that can make you happy even when all you feel is blue. And that was when the things dawned upon me.

“Wait a minute... You guys are Edward’s friends.” I stated to which they nodded, “You guys are taking me to Edward right now hoping that whatever happen between us can be solved and we can be friends again?” This time I asked and they all nodded again with big smiles on their faces.

“Yes, that is one part of what is about to happen but before you ask-” said Adam, who spoke after what felt like eternity, “-he didn’t ask us to bring you to him. It was all our idea so don’t go bat shit crazy on him. And don’t worry, we took care of the school. Wren will help you catch up with the work.” He said, but the thing that I didn’t fail to notice was how he said Wren’s name. It was filled with adoration and a feeling of pride, like he was so proud of her for whatever reason.

I noticed that surroundings and realized that it was not the way to Edward’s house.
“Where are you taking me?” I asked and Ryder was the one who spoke this time.
“You will know soon.” Was his simple reply.

After half an hour we reached somewhere in the middle of the woods I didn’t even know where exactly this is.

I followed the guys afraid of getting lost. They soon reached a place where there were less tress as compared to the rest of the forest. And in the middle stood the one and only Edward. The same red eyes and lack of sleep visible on his face. I felt guilty because I was the reason behind all this. He spoke after what felt like eternity.

“Hey Sugar.” He said in his tired voice, yet shock present there. Although his appearance was not at all good, but his voice made a chill go down my spine in all positive ways possible. And then I realized how much I missed his voice calling me. I couldn’t help but reply. “Hey.”

“All I want to do right now is apologize, but I don’t know how to because never in my life I have said sorry to anyone.” He said in his same tired and beat up voice, but I could still understand what he felt.

Looking around I saw that the three boys were nowhere in sight. I waited for him to continue. He took my silence as his answer and continued.

“I know what I did was unforgivable, and I can’t count the number of times I have punched the wall in my bedroom trying to punish myself. But all of that was of no use.” There was an urge to look at his knuckles and then I noticed they were wrapped in white bandages. He noticed my gaze and said, “I was not planning to wrap them up, but the guys forced me to. I can’t make myself feel at ease when I was the one to hurt you.” I was feeling overwhelmed by his speech, it made my heart melt, but kept a straight face not showing any bit of emotions I was feeling. “I know that asking for forgiveness will be too much because I know I hurt you so I won’t ask for your forgiveness but ask for a second chance. Will you give me a second chance?” He asked with hopeful eyes but I had some questions that needed to be answered.

“On one condition.” I said to which he eagerly nodded with a smile on his face like a kid on Christmas.

“Anything. I promise.” He said with the same childish smile.

“But first answer this question. Why do you think you are apologizing?”

“Because I was a dick to you, when all you wanted was to enjoy the party as a normal teenager.” He replied.

“You think that was the reason why I was upset with you?” I asked to which he nodded.

“No Edward I was not mad at you for that.” I said and he looked at me with a shocked expression. I continued. “I was mad at you because you thought that I was one of your whores who throw themselves at you. I was mad because you didn’t even think once before grabbing me and treating me like one of those girls. Yes, I agree you were a dick to me but what hurt me the most was the fact that I had to suffer from it all over again.” I mumbled the last line to myself tears showing at the corner of my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. He raised his eyebrows before furrowing them.

“What do you mean ‘all over again’?” He asked imitating my same words.

I just shook my head at him and said, “Edward there are a lot of things in a person’s life that they can’t say but suffer through them.” I said to which he just looked at me incredulously.
“So I was talking about the condition.” I said changing the topic, which got all his ears on me. “The next tutoring sessions won’t be free. It might cost you a fortune.”

He just smiled and said, “Anything for you.” And this made me smile as I continued.
“For every chapter that we complete, you will have to pay me back with a book of my choice.”

He didn’t even take a second before replying. “Agreed.” And we just stood there smiling at each other.
