Sometimes, it takes a good fall
To really know where
“When can I go?” I asked for a millionth time, but this time instead of staring at me, he actually averted his eyes and answered the question.
“When I am 1000% sure that you will come back to me.”
“You could just say ‘never’ instead of giving me false hope.” I snapped at him.
“Why do you hate me so much?” He asked.
The truth is that I don’t hate him, I like him, a lot. I like him more than I should like anyone. But the fear of getting hurt again is something that is holding me back from admitting it to him, me, or anyone else.
Only me and Blake know why I don’t like his kind. Hate is a really strong word, and I don’t hate him, or his kind. I simply don’t like their way of living.
The truth is Blake is the only human I know, who knows about their kind. I don’t even know why, but he believes every single word I say. It doesn’t matter if it exists or not, he always believes me.
“I don’t hate you. Hate is a strong word. I just don’t like your species, unless it is fictional.” I replied truthfully wording my thoughts.
“Okay then. Why don’t you like my.... Species?” He asked making a face at the word ‘species’, like it was venom, not a word.
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” I said. “Edward, it’s been 2 hours since you have kept me, practically locked in your bedroom. Don’t you think I must’ve gotten a little hungry?” I said trying to change the topic and hoping he would go out and I can get time to escape.
Yes, I did try the bathroom trick. He was standing right out the door. I locked the door, kept the water running, opened the window, but changed my mind when I saw the huge gap between the window and the ground. Even if I tried to jump, I would’ve broken a bone or two and again end up in his room, with the pack doctor instead of the hospital.
I have thought of everything, and this is the best I could come up with. But to my disappointment, instead of moving towards the door, he went to the bedside table which had his phone resting.
He called someone and talked for about 5 seconds and the next thing I know, there was a knock on the door and he went to attend it.
Yes, I did try to snatch his phone-as he took mine-and also succeeded but it had password and I couldn’t guess it. Like I said I tried everything I could in the last 2 hours. Anything and everything the Gladers thought to escape the Maze, in The Maze Runner.
He came to the side of the bed where I was sitting and placed a tray in front of me, with the contents covered with a- whatever you call those fashionable thingies that rich people use to cover the food.
Removing the fashionable silver lid from the tray, the air was filled with the mouth-watering aroma of food.
It looked something like a fancy type of dish, but I couldn’t tell what exactly it was and it looked delicious.
Don’t get distracted by the food. You have a plan to work on. I told myself again and again in my head.
“Seriously? You just told your staff to bring food without even asking me what I want? Do you even know what I want to eat right now? I don’t want any of these fancy dishes of yours, I want something a normal human would have for lunch.” I stopped my rant when he started to go out of his room. I nearly started to dance in my place, but all my dreams came crashing down when he opened the door of his walk-in closet which is in the totally opposite direction of the door.
“You really want to choose your clothes when I am sitting here starving my ass off, with this fancy food in front of me, which I don’t even want to eat?” He said nothing but came back to the bed again with his hands placed behind his back.
It’s official now. He’s gonna kill me, and no one would even know about it. He will actually just blame all of this on the lady’s cats, whom we were supposed to meet.
“Oh, so now your gonna kill me. Well okay then. I guess I have to-” I was cut off when suddenly the rich flavor of chocolate hit my tongue. The delicious taste melting in my mouth like water running down a glacier. I actually closed my eyes to savor the delicious piece of heaven in my mouth.
I was so occupied enjoying the heavenly aroma chocolate and hazelnut in my mouth that I couldn’t help the embarrassing moan escaping my mouth.
It took me a moment to notice that Edward placed a spoon in my mouth which came out of the jar of magic in his hand and it was actually the most amazing thing ever.
He was feeding me Nutella! Now I don’t ‘not like him’ much.
He was smiling at my expression as I enjoyed the taste of heavenly chocolate and hazelnut in my mouth, licking the whole spoon clean.
“You really talk a lot.” He observed.
“Only when I’m hungry.” I replied snatching the jar out of his hand and shoving a spoonful of Nutella in my mouth again.
He started laughing at my gesture and didn’t stop for the next 5 minutes or so. But I didn’t pay any attention to it as I was busy trying to feed my growling stomach.
I snapped out of my state when I realized something very, very important. A life and death situation question actually.
“Why do you have Nutella in your closet?” I asked with my eyes wide. Who the hell keeps Nutella in their closet unless they have some midnight cravings or something, like me?
“For you to have at midnight, when you will wake up in my room with my arms around you.” He said it so casually, as if it was an everyday matter.
“Wait wait wait. So, you know about my midnight carvings too? Have you been stalking me?” I asked, wide eyed again.
“Something like that.” He said shrugging his shoulders.
How can this person be so casual about things like these? Is he not human?
Oh yeah right, he isn’t. Bloody Werewolves. I don’t like him, at all.
Then another thing dawned upon me. If he is a Werewolf, then so must be the guys. Adam, Ryder and even Chris. Crap!
“Woah! Wait a minute. If you are a werewolf that means-” I started but he cut me off.
“Yup. The guys are too. Ryder is the Beta of the pack. Adam is the Gamma and Chris will be your Delta.” He said.
I know about Beta and Gamma. The Beta is the second in command in the pack. He is the most powerful pack member after the Alpha, who is the leader of the pack. Adrian is the Beta of Ryan’s pack. Or so he told me.
Gamma is the third in command, just after the Beta. He is the best warrior in the pack, and is responsible to train the pack warriors for the time of battle. These are the things Adrian told me. I remember that Gael was the Gamma in Ryan’s pack. And Ryan is the Alpha. The leader of the Silver Moon Pack.
Luna is the most powerful female in the pack, because she keeps the pack together and rules beside the Alpha. Ryan’s pack does not have a Luna because he hasn’t found his mate yet. Or maybe he did. After all it’s been three years.
What I don’t know about is the Delta. What is the job of a Delta?
“Who is a Delta? I thought I knew everything about Werewolves. I know about Alpha, Beta, Gamma and even Luna and Omegas. But I never heard about Delta.” I asked, recalling everything I learned about the werewolf world, or at least what Adrian told me. He never said anything about Delta.
An Omega is ranked the lowest in the pack. They are other bunch of wolves who can only shift on the full moon and hence are the weakest member of the pack. They usually do the household stuff in the pack.
He fixed his gaze towards me. Actually looking excited that I wanted to know about his pack.
“Delta helps the Luna to maintain the Pack’s peace. Delta is the person the Luna feels most comfortable with. A Delta is to the Luna what Beta is to the Alpha,” he said. I didn’t know anything about it.
“The Luna of your pack will be kept entertained by Chris. He is a funny guy.” I said.
Chris is actually a wonderful guy. No one will ever be bored with him.
“Yes, you will definitely be kept entertained. Only if you can handle him for-”
“Wait what? Whoever said that I will be the Luna of YOUR pack. I told you I am not going to come back in this world.” I said cutting him off in between.
No means no. Why is it so difficult for him to understand that?
“You will be my Luna. Whether you like it or not. If you ever escape, I will burn the whole world down and dig you out from ashes if I have to.” He said angrily.
“Hello mister! Don’t quote Jace Wayland to me. I have read more books than you have heard the names of.” I stated. How the hell did he think that he can quote Jace to me?
“Who the hell is Jace Wayland? I swear if I hear any guy’s name from your mouth, I will hunt him down and make him regret the day he was born.” He growled at me.
I narrowed my eyes, and shook my head in disbelief. Is this guy serious? Who doesn’t know about Jace and The Mortal Instruments?
“Good luck with that. And if you actually ever find him don’t forget to tell him that I was kidnapped by a lunatic,” I said. Each word spitting out of my mouth like venom.
The only thing I don’t like about him is that he was actually a part of Sebastian once and had a knife on Clary’s neck. He was more messed up than Simon’s age as a Vampire.
Ignoring him I looked at the clock placed on his bedside table and saw the time. My eyes widened as I saw that it was already 5 in the evening. If I don’t reach home in the next 15 minutes, mom will waste no time in calling 911 and within seconds the whole town will be searching for me.
I looked at Edward with the same wide eyes who was smirking in my direction.
“Okay now. You have to let me go. I promise I won’t run away. My mom will be worried the moment she doesn’t find me in the house so you have to let me go now bro.” I said in a haste. I am not afraid of the arrogant Alpha in front of me but I am afraid of my mother.
“I am not your bro. Don’t even think about calling me that again.” He replied with a scowl.
I sighed at his stubbornness. “Okay. Sweetheart, please let me go, and I promise I will never run away from you.” I said in a sickly-sweet voice. My words almost made me throw up in my mouth, but this seemed to work on him as the smirk again returned on his face.
“Okay Sugar. You’re free to go.” That was all I needed before snatching my bag from him and running out of his house. Not before catching the expressions of Ryder, Adam and Chris who were going in the direction of Edward’s room.
I sure am never coming back in this place.
