Addy’s shower shouldn’t be taking so long. I hadn’t noticed how much time had passed since I had been planning Brittany’s demise. I tried to listen through the door but all I could hear was the sound of the shower. Okay, if she’s in the shower I should be able to go in the other part of the bathroom without breaking any rules. I slipped through the door, still just the sound of the shower. Maybe I was wrong. She’s probably just taking her time since she had a bad day. I turned to leave but I heard Addy starting to cry and whisper to herself, “I’m so sorry Dominick.” What could she be sorry for? It’s not her fault she had the confrontation with Brittany.
I inched closer to the shower curtain, urging my ears to capture every one of Addy’s whispers. “It hurts too much, I need to let it out.” No, no, no. Addy, you wouldn’t. Please tell me I’m reading between the lines wrong. Addy gasped and I saw a trickle of red float away beneath the curtain edge. No Addy no! I pushed the curtain aside and grabbed Addelyn out of the shower. I pressed part of her towel against her wrist when we both realized what had just happened.
“Dominick, I… I can see you. I can feel you, you were able to move stuff.”
“I don’t know, I just got so overwhelmed and I couldn’t bear the thought of letting you hurt yourself.” She hugged me tight and I could actually feel her warmth. I held Addy in my arms on the bathroom for who knows how long. “Please Addy, don’t hurt yourself anymore.”
“I’m so sorry Dominick, I missed you so much.”
“It’s alright Addy, I’m here for you now.” I bandaged her wrist and kissed it softly. Addy went to get dressed as I cleaned up the stuff I had knocked down. I tried to grab the door handle to leave but my hand went through it like a hologram. No not now, I thought this was over. I rushed out to Addy and I could see the fear creeping up into her eyes.
“Dominick, you’re starting to disappear again. I thought we had gotten past this?”
“I don’t know, I thought so too.” Addy squeezed me tight but the pressure of her hug was fading as tears started to form in her eyes.
“Please don’t leave me alone Dominick.”
“I won’t Addy because I... “ She broke down on the floor next to her bed.
“You’re gone Dominick!” I sat next to her and wrapped my arms around Addy but she had no clue I was there. “This is torture Dominick. You’re right there but at the same time you’re gone. I need you Dominick, you’re all I have anymore.” Addy crawled in her bed and silently cried herself to sleep. I’m so sorry Addy. I laid next to her and attempted to wipe away her tears but it was no use. If only I could tell you how much I love you.
