Chapter 5

*Sky*

“Thank you for being here for me,” I said turning to look at Stephen.

“They hate me for no reason. Look at me.” I frowned thinking about how I must look.

“They see you as a threat Sky. I mean look at you, your beautiful. Look at that long black hair and those beautiful chocolate brown eyes. I know you don’t see it, but just because you don’t doesn’t mean no one else does. The most beautiful thing about you is this,” He said putting his hand to my heart.” You’re just a good person.”

I looked up to see him smiling down at me, “don’t worry Sky I’m not hitting on you or anything, just stating a fact. Now don’t waste any more time thinking about those idiots and get in there and see Raven.” He said opening the door and pushing me in.

“What happened to your eye.” Raven said frowning. She sat up in the bed groaning from the pain.

I went and sat next to her bed and grabbed her hand. “Your seriously worried about me right now.” I frowned.

It was so like her, she was the one laying in a hospital bed and she was more worried about what happened to me.

“I’m glad you’re ok Raven,” I said busting into tears. “I don’t know what I would do without you.”

“I’m fine see,” She said pointing to herself. “I’m a bit banged up but I’m ok.” She said trying to reassure me.

“Now tell me what the hell happened to your eye?”

I laughed because she was not going to let up until she knew what had happened. She still had not learned that I could take care of myself. She was going to lose it once I told her what happened. I took a breath and told her the whole story.

“That skank has another ass whopping coming once I’m better and she don’t even know it.” She said balling her hands in her lap.

“I messed her up pretty bad. You would be proud. Your mom ran them off when both her and Destiny tried to start with me again.”

“How did it feel to see Jason again?” Raven asked frowning.

“He still makes my heart speed up and he’s still so handsome. I hate him.” I smiled knowing we both knew that I didn’t really hate him.

“I didn’t really get a chance to talk to him much because of his crazy girlfriend.”

“I actually would love to sit down and talk to him now that I’m not so hurt by what he did. Don’t know that it’s worth the drama though. I think for now if it happens it happens and if not, I’m not going to push it.”

“I hate that I’m stuck in this hospital bed. We would be in total scheme mode right now.” She said mischievously.

“Just focus on getting better Raven. I need you healthy and healed for all the stuff we are going to get into this summer. Take it easy and take the time to let yourself heal.” I said getting up and heading to the door.

“I’m going to quit hogging all your time and let someone else come see you, plus Stephen is outside waiting for me.”

“Stephen is here? Why the hell didn’t you tell me? Do not let him come in here and see me like this!” She said trying but failing to fix her hair.

“Don’t worry miss vain, I won’t.” I said laughing and walking out the door.

Stephen was right where I left him his phone in his hand. He smiled when I walked out.

“How did it go? Is she ok?” He said following behind me.

“She’s fine. I mean not fine, she looks beat up and you can tell she’s hurting but she’s still the same Raven as always.” I chuckled.

I walked into the waiting room and walked over to Mrs. Clark.

“I just wanted you to know that I was done visiting with Raven.” I said.

My phone went off and I looked to see who it was. I laughed out loud and Mrs. Clark looked at me like I was crazy.

“Sorry, but your crazy daughter said that she’s starving, and someone needs to bring her some McDonald’s before she dies from this nasty hospital food.” I grinned.

“That daughter of mine is going to be the death of me,” Mrs. Clark said walking out of the waiting room.

Trevor got up from where he was sitting and walked over to Stephen and I. He stopped right in front of Stephen and stared at him.

“And you are?” He said glaring at him.

Stephen laughed and pulled me to him.

“I’m the one that gets to do this.” He said holding me tight.

“I’d like to say that it was nice to meet you but then I would be lying and I’m no liar. Anyone who does not have Sky’s back is no friend of mine or hers. Now if you will excuse us we are leaving,” He said pulling me out of the lobby.

“I cannot believe you just did that?” I said laughing.

We grabbed something to eat and went back to my house to eat.

“I know that you want to come back to Florida with me but I’m not taking you back with me Sky.” He said looking serious.

“What? Why?” I said frowning.

“Because I’m not going to let those girl’s think that they ran you off. You’re going to stay here and stand your ground. Don’t let them get the satisfaction of thinking that they won. I’ve got to go back in the morning, I’ve got a family thing. I’ll be back as soon as school ends I promise.” He said putting his giant hand over mine.

We spent the rest of the day watching old movies. When mom finally came home I did my best to hide my eye from her. Needless to say it didn’t work, I was right she was pissed.

Although it did make her happy to know that the other girl looked way worse. She got the guest room ready for Stephen heated up some leftovers and said she was wasn’t feeling good and went up to bed.

I was about to head to my room when the doorbell rang. I ran to get the door before it woke my mom up. When I opened the door there stood Jason.

Stephen came to stand behind me frowning when he saw him. “What the hell are you doing here? Stephen growled out.

“I came to see if I could talk to Sky outside for a few minutes,” He said staring defiantly at Stephen.

“After what your crazy girlfriend did to her, you think that you have the right to say anything to her? You took your side and it was not Sky’s” He said slamming the door in his face.

“I want to know what he has to say. Don’t be mad at me Stephen but you can stand by the door if you want.” I pleaded with him.

“Fine, but I’m not happy about it, he put you through enough already.” He said crossing his arms across his chest.

I hugged him and opened the door, and sure enough Jason was still standing there looking shocked.

“One tear leaves her eyes and I’m coming out and beating the shit out of you. What she did to your girlfriend I’m going to do to you.” Stephen said before I closed the door behind me.

I stood on the porch waiting for him to say something my heart was beating a million miles a minute. He looked like he was trying to work out what to say. I kind of felt sorry for him.

I knew that he had not meant to hurt me but that did not change the fact that he had. He had his hands in his pockets and he stayed a good distance away from me.

“I just wanted to come and apologize for Carrie’s behavior today. She feels really threatened by you. That in no way excuses her behavior but it does explain it. The kiss didn’t help ease her insecurity. She knows how I feel about you, how much you meant to me. I’m not here to try and win you back, just to apologize.”

I put my hand to my eye and frowned why was he here apologizing for her? She was the one who made the choice to take things too far.

“I’m not letting her off the hook that easy. You think that you coming here is going to make me feel sorry for her, well I don’t. I did nothing to your crazy girlfriend. I even asked her to not do it, but did she listen? No! But I bet she wished she had now. She thought because she was older that I was an easy target. I’m the one that broke up with you, she should be angry at you, not me. I can’t help the way you feel about me.” I rushed out angry.

I was fuming, why did he think that I should understand the immature way she acted. I was the one that was wronged by her and by him. The only thing I was guilty of was kissing him. I knew before I did it that it was wrong, but I was just so mad.

“Even if Barbie was being a total Bitch. I own up to the fact that it was wrong to kiss you.” I said looking away.

Our first kiss had been a Stolen kiss. How could I have known that he would kiss me back and not push me away.

“You made me do to her what I did to you,” he said looking sad.

“You could have pushed me away,” I whispered.

“Nothing could have stopped me once your lips touched mine. I hurt Carrie because my heart refuses to stop loving you. That’s not the kind of guy that I want to be. The same was true with you.” He said holding my gaze.

“I made a mistake while I was drunk, and I’ll never forgive myself for it. I lost you, and you don’t know how much I wish I could take that whole day back and I had just stayed home.” He said pulling me to him.

“What I did to Carrie is horrible, I knew what I was doing and yet I didn’t stop and if we repeated it today I would do it again. Every time I would choose you. As bad as Carrie acted today, I don’t want to hurt her. I know that you want nothing to do with me and I respect your decision. I just wanted to let you know that to avoid any more conflict between you and Carrie I’m going to do my best to just stay as far away from you as I can. Not only for her sake, but for mine. It hurts me to see you and know that you hate me.” He said kissing my forehead and letting me go.

“What if I don’t want you out of my life?” I whispered looking up at him.

“Tell me that there is still a chance that you will take me back and I’ll wait for you Sky. Say the words and I’ll fight for you.”

I was being selfish, and I knew it. He had a chance to make a life with someone and I was still trying to hold on to him. I knew that I wasn’t ready to try again with him and I may never be. My eyes filled with tears and I prepared myself to say good-bye to my first love.

“I can’t, as much as I would love to be able to say that to you, I’m not ready. I hope that you and Carrie work out. I’m going to do my best to not cause trouble for you.” I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tightly.

I turned and walked to my front door leaving him standing there. Once I was inside and the door closed behind me I walked straight into Stephens open arms and burst into tears.
