Chapter 7

I felt like someone on death row being led to her death. We waked beside each other in silence. When we finally got outside I thought I was going to pass out from the anticipation.

“Don’t look so scared Sky, is it really that horrible to think that you might interest me?”

It’s like his lips were moving in slow motion. My brain struggled to register his words.

“I was going to wait to do have this conversation but since you want to know here’s the answer to your question. Yes, I’m into you. And I have been for a while now. All I can think right now is that even though you have a black-eye and you look like you didn’t sleep last night you are undeniably beautiful. And not just your looks, you are the complete package sweetheart your just as beautiful in the inside” he said never dropping his gaze from mine.

“How can you be saying this to me when you’re with Destiny.” I said looking away from him.

“I know that I’m with someone right now, but you asked. I do my best to not react to having you so close to me but I’m only human. It was not my intention for you to find out like this but here we are. It looks like we are both in relationships right now and as much as I would love to pull you into my arms and keep you there, I won’t. That is not the type of guy that I am. I’m not a cheater, even if it kills me to not be able to touch you.” He said leaving me standing there.

He thought that I was with Stephen. Maybe that was for the best. I knew that I was not ready to even start thinking about what he had said to me.

**2 weeks later**

Tonight was Trevor’s graduation party and I was dreading it. How was I supposed to face the two boys that I was not ready to see? Jason would never miss Trevor’s party, so I knew that I would have to deal with Carrie too. That girl still had me pissed off. I was more than positive that she knew that Jason would be mine if I wanted him.

Raven had finally gotten released from the hospital a few days ago and she was excited for us to go and have some fun.

“Why have you not started getting ready yet Sky?” Raven said walking into my room.

“I have nothing to wear? Maybe you should just go by yourself. No one will even miss me if I stay home.” I replied.

“My mom is expecting to see you there and I know that even if he has not told me, so I know Trevor really wants you there. So get in your closet and find something to put on. I’m going to make you look so hot, Carrie is going to hate you even more. I can’t wait. Let that Barbie step out of line. I really hope she does, I got something for that hoe.” She said turning her chi straightener on and pulling all her make up out of her bag.

I knew that there was not going to be any way to get out of going so I grabbed the expensive overpriced dress that Stephen had bought me. The day he bought it for me I had helped him break up with Amanda a crazy girl he had been dating for a few weeks. I had to threaten to beat her ass If she didn’t leave him alone. That boy sure knew how to pick them. That day we were at the mall waiting to watch a movie. We had some time to kill so we decided to look around to kill time.

As soon as I laid eyes on it I fell in love with it. It was a dark purple strapless dress. It was tight on top and flared at the bottom. I loved it, it was short but classy.

“I’m buying you that dress,” Stephen said looking for my size.

“Stephen no way. Have you seen how much it costs? That’s crazy I can buy a used car for that price.” I exclaimed.

“You helped me get rid of Amanda, so you deserve it. Plus don’t take this the wrong way but I’ve got plenty of money. Let me get this for you Sky. You know you want it! Let me do something nice for you.” He said pushing me toward the dressing rooms.

Once I tried it on I couldn’t fight it anymore. It fit perfect I fell even more in love with it. I did deserve it. I told that idiot to not date Amanda, everyone knew she was a lunatic apparently except Stephen.

“Fine I’ll take it, “I said yelling from my dressing room.

“I already paid for it,” He yelled back.

**End of Flashback**

It took us an hour to do our hair and makeup, and the end result had me shocked. I looked like a different person. My long black hair flowed down my back my makeup was flawless. It was more than I usually wore but right now I needed all the confidence I could get. I felt like a sheep stepping into the lion’s den. I knew that seeing Jason was going to be the hardest for me, he had already warned me that he would no longer acknowledge me. I was afraid of what that was going to feel like. I knew that this was going to be the first step in moving on, I could do it, I thought hoping and praying that I didn’t break down.

“The car is here to pick us up” Raven said looking up from her phone.

Walking into the ballroom I struggled to not run back to the car and tell the driver to take me back home. I struggled to take my first few steps into the room. There was a guest book you could sign so to prolong this as long as I could I picked it up. They gave you two options, just sign your name or leave a personal message like in a year book. I knew that I should just sign my name, but I was not going to be a chicken and take the easy road. I was not going to let his confession change things between us.

“Very proud of you Trevor, your one of the greatest guys I know. I know good things are in your future. I hope you attain everything your heart desires, wishing you nothing but the best.”

Should I end that with your friend, Love, or just plain Sky. I decided to not go crazy and just sign my name.

When I finally looked up from the guest book and walked further into the room I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful everything was.

“Wow this is nice; your parents did an amazing job.” I said following behind Raven.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I realized where Raven was taking me, “no way Raven.” I said refusing to take one more step.

“He’s my brother Sky, I have to sit at his table with my family.”

“No way, you can’t really expect for me to sit there with Destiny shooting daggers at me. Jason and his family are at the table right next to yours. Do you not remember what happened the last time we were all this close?” I replied frowning.

“You deserve to be here Sky, you’re my best friend. Anyone who has a problem with you has a problem with me. I wish a hoe would say something. Now let’s see the bad ass that I know that you can be. Don’t let these jealous bitches ruin this for you.” She said grabbing my hand and dragging me behind her.

She was right, those girls had no right to hate on me. I was going to have fun tonight if it killed me. I put a smile on my face and I prepared myself for the performance of a lifetime.

“Let’s get this party started we have arrived,” Raven said waving her hands in the air dramatically.

“You girl’s look beautiful,” Mrs. Clark said getting up to hug us.

“Don’t they look gorgeous Trevor?” Mrs. Clark said with a mischievous smile on her face.

Trevor intense gaze had me feeling hot. I stared at the floor too afraid to look up into his beautiful eyes.

“You guys look great,” Destiny said with a forced smile. I knew that it killed her to say the words but that stopped Trevor from having to answer.

Mrs. Clark frowned at her but quickly recovered. That woman was something else, she sat me next to Trevor even though there were plenty of other empty seats. Raven sat down next to me and smiled, “You’re doing great Sky.” She whispered.

“Uh Trevor why did you let Jason bring that?” Raven said pointing at Carrie.

“She’s Jason’s Girlfriend Raven, I couldn’t ask him not to bring her” He replied.

“You totally could have told him not to bring her, right mom?” She said looking over at Mrs. Clark.

“I’m just going to let you know up front if she tries anything with Sky I’m going to jack her up. She owes me one already for the fight she started with her. No one messes with my bff and gets away with it, no one.” She said looking at Destiny.

“I’m proud of you for being so loyal to Sky, Raven. I don’t condone fighting but sometimes it just can’t be avoided. I agree with Raven on this one son, that girl is nothing but trouble. Your sister was literally on her death bed and Sky was worried sick about her and that girl goes and picks a fight. Although I’m sure she will think twice before messing with you again.” Mrs. Clark said winking at me.

“You’re a good girl Sky. Girl’s like that are just insecure, you keep your head up and never let them bring you down. You can’t steal someone who does not want to be stolen, only petty girls would have the nerve to blame you for their boyfriends actions.” She said loud enough for the whole table to hear.

I had a feeling that she meant that more for Destiny than she did for me. Mr. Clark just sat their grinning listening to his wife basically give his daughter permission to fight. It didn’t seem to bother him at all. Instead he looked at his wife with such love and adoration, here was a man who had a feisty wife who spoke her mind and you could tell he loved it. The apple did not fall far from the tree Raven was a mini version of Mrs. Clark.

Whatever tonight had in store for me I was ready to face it head on. I just hoped I didn’t end up with another black eye. The raccoon look was not for me.
