Chapter Nine

“Is it confusion? Regret? Hurt? anger? Sadness?”

Even Liam himself could not find any adjective to describe the way he’s feeling right now.

Liam,Damon and Lucy are currently in Lucy’s apartment. Lucy and Damon had already planned to tell Liam the truth. Which they did after they had dinner.

Lucy told Liam about her sickness and how she won’t be able to give him the baby he wants and about her confrontation with Abigail earlier today.

Damon also talked about what he knows about the whole issue. But they both left out the part that he was a father of Two already. Damon and Lucy decided it’s not their place to tell Liam about Abigail’s twins. They will leave that to Abigail.

While they were talking, Liam could not say anything because he didn’t know what to say.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were sick Lucy?” Liam managed to say as a tear slip from his eyes. The thought of loosing her and his unborn child was killing him already.

“If you had told me all these earlier, we could have done something. Made an appointment with the best doctor and found solution”. Liam said facing Lucy who sat across him on the dinning table.

“Liam trust me, there was nothing that could be done. My mom and I, we have been to so many hospital, we kept in touch with different doctors but they still could not find my match. I decided not to tell anyone because i don’t want you all to be worried about me.” Lucy replied.

Liam just shook his head in a negative way as he could not find any sense in what Lucy was saying. He stood up angrily from the dinning table and went to the balcony.

Lucy burst into tears immediately Liam left the table. Damon walked towards her and hugged her telling her everything will be fine. When he saw that Lucy had calmed down a bit, He went to the balcony and found Liam leaning on the railings, thinking.

“Liam, you don’t need to be angry with Lucy”. Damon said.

“She could have trusted me. She could have told me what was going on” Liam said as he broke into tears.

Damon exhaled and patted Liam’s back while Liam leaned on the railings, crying. The last time he saw his best friend like this was when Abigail disappeared.

“How will i even approach Abigail? After all what I’ve done to her? My life is so fucked up Damon.”

“Lucy never told anyone anything because she didn’t want us to look at her with pity. I know it pains you that you won’t be able to see your child, but trust me, Lucy is not happy with that too. But this is destiny and we cannot change it. She fears she has few days left to live. She wants to see you happy, That’s why she approached Abigail earlier on today.” Damon Said.

“As for Abigail, i’m sure things will be fine. Both of you were victims of what happened. She has a kind heart. Talk to her. I’m sure she will understand”. Damon said and handed Liam a paper.

“Abigail’s address. You should see her. I believe the two of you have a lot to talk about.”

Liam collected the paper and kept it in his pocket. He exited the balcony which leads to the living room. He saw Lucy sitting on the floor beside the couch. He went over to where she was sitting, dragged her up and pulled her into a hug.

“Forgive me Lucy. Please forgive me.” Liam pleaded.

He pulled away from the hug and looked into her teary eyes. His hands still on her shoulders.

“No matter what happens Lucy, i will be here for you. You will forever have a place in my heart. You made me who i am today. You helped me move on when i thought the whole world was against me. You also filled my life with laughter. You are still and will always remain a special person to me, never forget that.” Liam assured.

Lucy nodded and engulfed Liam into another hug. She was so overwhelmed by Liam’s word.

Liam pulled away from the hug and knelt down, facing Lucy’s belly. He put his right hand on her belly and said.

“I really don’t know what is going to happen to you sweetheart, now that mama is sick. If you were to be a girl, i would have wanted you to be called Lenora and if you were to be a boy, i would have wanted you to be called Earl. You see, your mom and i are so sad that there is a possibility we won’t be able to see and watch you grow. I just want to thank you for coming into our lives. No matter what happens, You will forever remain in daddy’s heart and i will love you forever.” Liam completed and kissed Lucy’s belly.

He stood up and saw Lucy smiling. He pulled Lucy into a hug once more.

“Go meet Abigail. Try to settle things with her.” Lucy Whispered.

Liam gave Lucy a questioning look and she replied.

“Don’t worry i will be fine. Damon is here with me. Just make sure you don’t come back here without being on good terms with her.” Lucy said with a smile.

“So what are you going to do?” Bella [Abigail’s best friend] asked Abigail while placing a glass of wine in front of Abigail and sat opposite her at the Kitchen counter.

After Lucy left Abigail’s office earlier, Abigail couldn’t concentrate on work without thinking about all what Lucy said. She actually feels sorry for Lucy. No one deserves what she’s going through.

When Abigail came back from work. She was glad Bella had already put her twins to bed and now she just finished Narrating all that Lucy had told her to Bella.

“To be honest, i don’t know”. Abigail said looking very confused and tired of life.

“I think you should get across to Liam as soon as possible”. Bella suggested.

“Oh no, not again”. Abigail groaned. Already having headache from the whole drama she had already experienced today.

“Are you actually scared? Of facing Liam?“. Bella asked because she does not seem to understand her friend anymore.

“I don’t know ? maybe?” Abigail Shrugged.

“It’s just that, Seeing him after five years, after he refused to talk to me and rejected me...arghhh I don’t even want to imagine”. Abigail trailed off.

“Common, it might not be that bad”. Bella said, trying to encourage Abigail. The earlier she settles things, the quicker she has peace of mind.

“Really, you just think so”. Abigail chuckled.

“Facing Liam is not really my problem. it’s just bringing the kids involved. I don’t want them to get hurt. That’s all”. Abigail said.

“That shouldn’t be a problem Abigail. According to what Lucy told you, I’m sure he will be a good father and will not try to hurt the twins”. Said Bella

" I hope so”. Abigail Whispered as she took another sip of her red wine.

“You still have feelings for him. Don’t you?” Bella asked out of the blue.

Abigail’s eyes widen at that question and she quickly gulp down the whole wine in the glass then she said, “Don’t even go there Bella”.

“You still do, don’t you?” Bella asked again. She knew Abigail has always been and is still very much in love with that so called Liam Williams.

“I don’t know Bella, I really don’t know. Even if i do, i don’t think i can ever give him another chance. He hurt me really bad and what assurance do i have that he won’t hurt me again”. Abigail completed.

Bella clearly understands where Abigail is coming from and knows that Liam really have a lot to do if he truly wants Abigail back.

Bella looked straight into Abigail’s eyes and said.

“I think he deserves to know about the twins. It’s over five years and he has no idea about Lenora and Lawrence’s existence. Please Abigail, even if it’s not for you, get in touch with him for the sake of the twins. They deserve to know their father.”

Bella stood up from her stool, went over to where Abigail sat across her, engulfed her in a hug and whispered something into her ear. “please think about it”. She said before she proceeded into the guestroom and left Abigail with her own thought.

Abigail was brought out of her thought by the sound of the doorbell. She wondered who it was, as she was not expecting anyone. She reluctantly jumped down from the stool and went ahead to open the door.

Lo and behold. The last person she ever wanted to see.

Here he was. Standing in front of her.

“Liam Evan Williams.”
