Blurb

A deranged man with deranged ideas, he walked to me and I desperately tried to find myself the non-existent shield. A whimper escaped my lips and he simply laughed. Whenever I saw him I felt things that I should never ever feel. His presence although evil and frightening had an ounce of familiarity to it. I felt connected to him in a sick manner. My wolf residing in me always froze when she came in contact with him, she would start pacing my mind like she was confused. There were faint sparks I felt whenever I touched him. I didn’t like it at all; I knew he was not my mate by it felt right. He sat down beside me and looked at me. “I love you so much Jimmy,” he just said and then suddenly punched me in the stomach. I groaned loudly and tears escaped my eyes. I burned under his malicious gaze, one that promised me nothing but agony and pain and despair. But even his injuries inflicted upon me felt like some sort of sick love, a mate’s love.

Prologue

“Come to me,” she whispered.

I cried and slowly crawled to her. She looked like a goddess with her long blonde hair and the beautiful flowing red gown. She cupped my face and I tried to move away from her vice grip.

“Just a beautiful face you have, round and chubby, it is a shame how I see you losing all of it in front of my eyes,” she gently expressed her concern. She was taunting me. She wasn’t worried about me. Devina was never worried about me.

Nor was her brother, Matthias.

I didn’t know who these deranged people were. But I was scared of them. They hit me and tortured me with devices that I didn’t know existed. It had months since I was captured by them. I didn’t know where I was, I didn’t know what day it was. I just knew that I was kidnapped by individuals who had destroyed my precious pack.

My eyes watered at even remembering the agonising screams of my beloved pack members. They were all now reduced to ashes.

“You know my brother loves ripe fruits like you, he loves to bite into them and taste your sweet nectar,” she said in her ethereal voice. Her voice sounded like a breeze, it was hauntingly beautiful only if she was a good person.

But she was not; her beauty didn’t justify her cruelty. She slowly brought her hand down and wrapped it around my neck. Her sharp nails dug into my skin and I writhed in her hold. The choking sensation was not pleasant as I stared at her with wide eyes.

I made noises because I didn’t know what to say. Just then the door to this dungeon opened and I saw him enter. I began hyperventilating; I brought my hand and tried to remove her vice like grip from my neck.

His stormy grey eyes just like his sister stared at me. I saw the mirth dancing in them.

“Leave her Devina,” he whispered.

Her grip immediately loosened and I dropped on the ground.

Matthias.

“I just want you to know that I am releasing you, only for a little while though, so don’t worry, you will have me very soon,” he whispered, “I hate leaving you but I must go. The council is here; they will find you and take you with them. But don’t you worry, it will all be good and we shall meet soon.”

He then bunched my hair in his fist and banged my head on the ground. Almost instantly knocking me out, the last thing I saw were his dark stormy eyes.

And when I opened my eyes again, I saw those eyes again.

Only they now felt different.

Like a mate’s eyes.
