Chapter 9

Megan: Main girl, snappy attitude, rooming with drew

Sarah: One of Megan's friends from home

River: Megan's best friend from home

Jayden: Black guy, funny, childish, Megan hangs out with him a lot

Drew: Hottie who is rooming with Megan, playboy, badass, hot, hot hot ...

»He asked you that? That hottie you were telling me about?" exclaimed Sarah with her mouth wide open.

"What's so surprising about that? And no, he is not hot, he's a jerk," I spat back and rolled my eyes.

I've been talking with one of my friends, Sarah, on Skype for over an hour, and I told her everything about Drew's suggestion that night. She was surprised and impressed, but mostly angry with me.

"And that was your response?" She sounded anxious and mad. Well, the correct word to describe her mood would probably be furious. If looks could kill, I would be dead within a second because of the glares she was sending me.

"Well, what was I suppose to do, huh? I knew that guy for a day, I can't possibly act like I like him now all of the sudden," I replied back, crossing my arms over my chest. The memories of that night flashed through my mind.

"I don't need you as baby sitter, Megan," he whispered and I questioned how many drinks had he had already. He probably must've had a few before he came. "I need you as … something else," he trailed off and I rolled my eyes. Typical men. He was getting closer and closer and I stepped back, only to let my back hit the wall.

He cocked his head on the side when he came really close, eliminating the space between our bodies. "Let's play a game," he whispered huskily as he pinned me up against the wall, his chest pressed firmly against mine, "Let's sweet talk. Let's play fight. Let's talk all day. Let's give each other nicknames. Let's kiss. Let's go on dates. Let's talk on phone all night long. Let's act like a couple. And whoever falls in love first?" he said and looked deeply in my eyes, "Loses."

I was taken by a surprise, I admit it. I haven't been surprised for a really long time, but this guy just keeps me intrigued. I didn't really know how to respond. I mean, how do you respond to that? I just knew that I wasn't ready to be in a relationship yet – I don't know if I'll ever be. So I did the one thing that was logical to me then.

I looked in his eyes and started laughing. He just raised his eyebrows and I realized how close we really were. The heat from his body was radiating and I could feel his heart beat in a steady pace. His hands were positioned on each side of my head, his lips slightly curved in a smirk.

"What?" he questioned as I stopped laughing.

I frowned and looked at him, my eyes sparkling mischievously. "Do you say that to every girl?" I asked him in an amused tone. "Is that a new pick-up line guys use to get girls in bed?"

He just smirked as he pushed himself even closer to me, eliminating the space between us and I gasped. He brought his hand to bring a strand of my hair behind my ear and tilted his head down. He brought his lips close to my ear and my breath hitched. I was angry with myself for letting him making me nervous.

"Do I make you nervous, Megan?" He let my name slid off his tongue slowly and sexily and I gulped. I didn't respond and he took that as a yes. He smirked triumphantly. "Good. And to answer your question, no, I ask that just the chosen ones, the ones I think are worthy of my time, body and sexiness."

I rolled my eyes as he let his hands travel slowly down my sleeveless arms and positioned them on my waist. He dig his nails in my skin, but the feeling I felt was just pure pleasure. I gritted my teeth. Stupid hormones.

He leaned in again, letting his lips brush against my ear, his minty breath tingling me. "Don't worry, I'll give you time to think. And I will be patiently waiting for you to say yes."

With that, he pushed himself off me and gave me one last smirk, before he walked in his bedroom.

*end of flashback*

"Well, anything would be better than start laughing in his face! Now he'll just think you're not interested!" exclaimed Sarah, throwing her hands in the air.

"I'm not interested, that's it."

She raised her eyebrows and gave me the look. "Yeah, sure. And how long ago that happened?"

I bit my lip and looked at the monitor. "Five days?"

Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped. "And what did you tell him?" She almost shouts.

"Well … nothing really." I avoid her gaze. Thanks god she's not here, otherwise I'd probably be covered in bruises, if you know what I mean.

"So … You've been avoiding him since then?"

"Kind of," I trailed off and her eyes narrowed.

"You know, I always knew you are stupid, but I never had you as a wimp."

"I'm not a wimp!" I half shout. "I just don't know what to do."

"Didn't you say you're living with him?" She asked and I ducked my head under the pillow.

"I am," I mumbled from underneath it.

"And how is it possible to avoid someone who is living in the same house as you are?" She questioned.

"Well … I kind of … you know, moved out?"

This time, I really got scared her eyes wouldn't fall out of her sockets. She started shaking her head angrily. "And where are you living now?" she asked through her gritted teeth.

"With Ryan. She let me stay here a couple of nights," I shrugged.

"You know what, you are a wimp. You're a huge wimp."

"Am not!"

"You are. Wimp. Pussy. Wimp. Pu-"

"What the hell is going on here?" The low voice asked and someone threw himself on the bed beside me.

"Hello to you too, Jayden," I said in a bored tone, while Sarah was watching me, amused. Jayden lifts himself from behind me and wraps his toned arm around my waist, bringing me closer to him.

"Who's that?" Sarah questioned, smirking at me.

"Hey, beautiful, I'm Jayden," Jayden introduced himself and winked at her. I rolled my eyes. "Seriously, you have to flirt with every women you see?" I asked him, amused.

"Well, why haven't you mentioned him before? He's cute." Her smirk grew even wider and her eyes started sparkling. I couldn't help but chuckle. She's so evil, just like me. We both know the way to annoy guys is to tell them they're cute. It freaks them out.

Jayden stiffened beside me, just like I thought he would. "No, sexy, hot, charming, god, good-looking, that are the adjectives which you can use to describe me. But cute? Nu-huh. That's how you describe a baby, and I'm certainly not one, gurl."

She smiles at him once more and gets herself closer to the camera, so all I can see are her lips. "Cute." She said slowly and backed away. "Anyways, you didn't think I'll just drop our previous theme, right?"

I groaned as I buried my face in the pillow. "Want my advice?"

"No," I murmured, but she didn't bother.

"Live a little! I know you miss your old life. F*ck, even I miss the old Megan, the queen of parties, that crazy chick who-"

"Shut up. You're doing that on purpose." I cut her off and she smirked.

"You know me so well," she said and wiped away a fake tear off her cheek. Then, she leaned closer to the camera. "Accept hottie's preposition. I mean it, Meg, otherwise I'll come there and strangle you."

I rolled my eyes. "You can't come here. You don't have a car," I laughed, but she shrugged.

"I'll just ask River for a ride. Oh, by the way, he wants to talk to you today on Skype. He said he has a lot to tell you and if you don't answer, he will drive there and kill you."

"Who's River?" asked Jayden curiously and I shot Sarah a murderous look. She did that on purpose, bringing on Drew's suggestion and River because she knew Jayden will ask.

"Friend," I murmured the same time Sarah fake-coughed "boyfriend."

"Shut up Sarah."

"I have to go now, Meg. Oh, and don't forget, River wants to talk to you. Anyways, goodbye cutie." She winked at us and blew us a kiss, before finally ending the call.

I turned to Jayden with a smug expression on my face. "How'd you like my friend? Her name is Sarah, by the way."

He clenched his jaw. "I don't care about her name. Damn, that girl said two sentences to me and she won the first place on my 'girls who annoy me' list."

I chuckled. "Well, now you know there is someone even more annoying than I am. Now, what do you want?"

He rolled his eyes and groaned, throwing himself back on the bed. "Can't you be nice, for once?"

I smiled at him sweetly. "No."

His lips curl in a smirk. "You're so amusing."

"Spit," I replied as I jumped off the bed, stretching my arms.

He also started stretching his hands so I could clearly see six-packs and well-toned arms which were ripping under the white shirt he is wearing. He quickly stretched out his hand in my direction and batted his eyelashes at me. I groaned as I grabbed his hand and pulled him off the bed.

"Aren't those six-packs of yours never in use," I muttered underneath my breath as he threw his arm around me and started walking towards the exit.

"I was wondering …" he trailed off as he opened the door and went out. "Are you hungry?" he asked me and cocked his head, amused.

My eyes started shining and I opened my mouth to respond, but before I said anything, my stomach growled loudly and Jayden chuckled. "Well, that answers my question," he muttered.

"Do you like pancakes?"

"So, what was Sarah talking about?" asked Jayden when he came out of the pantry, his hands full of ingredients. He put them down on the counter and whipped his forehead, turning towards me.

Since Jayden had the keys for camp's kitchen – don't ask me how he got them – we were now in the kitchen, trying to cook us something to eat. But, since cooks hid everything eatable (probably they knew Jayden was always coming here), they had just the ingredients and not actual food.

I raised my eyebrows and avoided his burning gaze as I stepped towards him and started looking for the things we needed to bake pancakes . "I don't know what you're talking about," I lied. Of course I knew what he was talking about, since my so called "friend" pointed that out pretty clearly.

"That offer Drew gave you which you have to accept or something," Jayden chuckled and I sighed.

"I don't want to talk about it," I murmured and he cocked his head, looking at me.

"You sure you don't want to tell me? Because I can be very persistent," he said, grabbed one of the packages and stepped towards me. He opened it and then smirked at me devilishly, his eyes sparkling. And when I saw he was holding a full packet of flour, my eyes widened and I realized what he is going to do. I stepped back, but I couldn't escape anywhere since I was trapped between the counter and him.

"You wouldn't," I threatened, my eyes wide. He just laughed as he started opening the package. "You seriously don't know me then, if you think so," he said, looking at me mischievously.

"I won't tell you," I said, giving him the evil look.

"Really?" he questioned as he pressed his body against mine, flour still in his hand.

"Yep," I said, popping the 'p'.

He won't do it. He was afraid that –

He suddenly threw the flour in my face and I let out a shriek. He started laughing as he backed away quickly, making sure there's space between us. I threw my hands in the air as I felt white things on my face, making me look like a –

"You … look like … a snowman," coughed out Jayden between laughs and I groaned as I started rubbing my face and getting rid of the flour.

"You should have seen your face!" shouted Jayde, clutching his stomach. "It was like you didn't even expect me to do it!"

He was right, I didn't expect he would actually do it. Usually guys just get afraid of my death glare and leave me alone. Well, I guess Jayden is an exception.

Suddenly, he started jumping around and clutching flour with left hand, and with his right he started grabbing flour and throwing it up in the air.

"It's snowing, it's snowing," he started singing as he came in front of me and threw flour on us.

"Look, Meg, it's snowing and you should be happy!" He looked at me goofily and grabbed my hand.

I started laughing so hard. He was so funny and childish I couldn't help myself.

"Come on, do it with me!" he cheered and I just laughed.

"Jayden, what will we eat!" I asked him when I noticed packet was half empty and all the flour is on the floor. He stopped and put out his lower lip, looking at me with puppy dog eyes.

"Well, now I know why they don't let any food in the pantry," I murmured, elbowing him as grabbed the flour and went towards the counter.

"Okay, so we need 2 cups of flour," I said as I looked at him and he raised a cup and flour.

"2 cups of milk?"

"Don't you have it enough in your breasts?"

I looked at him weirdly and he laughed, putting his hands in the air for surrender.

"Joke, woman, joke."

"Whatever," I murmured.

"Check! Wait …" he interrupted and frowned. "You know that I eat a lot, right?"

"Yep, so do I, that is why I'll make food for four persons."

He chuckled as he threw his arm over my shoulder. "Ah, we have so many things in common," he sighed. "we should get married!" he announced and suddenly, he was kneeling in front of me.

I laughed. "So you ask every girl who has things in common with you to marry you?" I questioned.

He grinned. "You know me so well," he sobbed and whipped a fake tear off his cheek and I chuckled.

"So, Megan Williams, will you be my wife?" he asked me and suddenly started faking sobbing. "Please … I don't have anyone else! I don't want to be alone!"

"You're so weird," I muttered, rolling my eyes. He was now giving me a puppy dog face and I couldn't help but chuckle.

"Yes, Jayden, I will be your wife," I rolled my eyes as he jumped in the air and hugged me tightly. He ruffled my hair. "We will have such beautiful kids!"

I scoffed and elbowed him hardly so he whined.

"Loser," I murmured and he chuckled. "Okay, now, do we have sugar?"

1 hour later

"You suck"

"I know"

"But these pancakes … mmm" said Jayden as he tapped his full stomach.

We were lying on the floor after eating all of the 25 pancakes we made and I tell you, they were delicious. Because of me, of course. Jayden sucked as a cook.

"I feel so fat," I murmured and he chuckled.

"I agree, I feel like I'm going to explode," he added and I frowned.

"Ew, please, feel free to do that in the bathroom," I murmured, unable to breath normally because I was so full.

He chuckled. "But it was worth it."

20 minutes later

"Are we going to move?"

7 minutes later

"Are you going to tell me what was up with that Drew thing?" said Jayden as he finally got up. I rolled my eyes and stretched my eyes for him to pull me up. He did that and then quickly spun me around, so I was pressed against the counter.

"You want another flour shower?" He questioned. "We still have some flour left, you know."

I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Why do you want to know?"

"Because I'm curious," he shrugged.

"Fine," I murmured and looked in his eyes. "A few days ago, Drew asked me to play some game with him and I said no. Since then I'm avoiding him," I was vague.

"What kind of game?" asked Jayden.

"I don't know, some game so we would act like a couple, fight, kiss and stuff … and the one who would get attached would lose. Therefore him."

"If you are so sure you would win, why don't you do it?" he tilted his head, smirking as he was looking down at me. I shrugged.

"I don't know. I guess I'm just not for it."

Suddenly, his face hardened. "You know what?" he spoke, raising his voice. "As much as it hurts me to admit it, your friend is right. You are a pussy."

I opened my mouth to speak, but he cut me off.

"No, listen to me right now," he said as he positioned himself in front of me, arms on both sides of me. "I have been observing you for the past days. I've noticed how you always think your actions through. That way, you have no excitements in life, nothing can possibly surprise you because you have everything planned. You never take a risk, you don't live in the moment." He breathed in and looked in deep into my eyes. "Meg, listen to me carefully right now. You can't relive your past, and you can't always plan everything in advance. You have to live in the moment, take chances, everything that seems right then. Just then you will be truly happy and when you will be old, you won't have any regrets, because you'll say you were doing what you thought then was right. Just live, Megan, please. For me, for everyone."

I thought about his words. And what I realized was, he was right. I did always plan everything, I always wanted to know what happens next, and I was blaming myself for the past I obviously can't fix. And then, Drew's suggestion didn't seem like a bad idea at all.

I bit my lip as I looked at Jayden. "But … I don't know how to win."

Jayden smirked. "Maybe, I can help you with that."

"How?" I furrowed my eyebrows and he laughed.

"I'm a guy, aren't I? I know what we like. Okay, are you in?" he questioned and I thought about it and then nodded slowly.

"Okay, so," he pushed himself off me and sat down on the floor. I joined him quickly after. "You know how to flirt right?"

"Well, for the past year I haven't really tried …" I trailed off, feeling unexperienced and stupid. He chuckled.

"Okay, so you have to know that guys love when a girl licks her lip slowly or bites it. It's a complete turn on."

"Yeah, I knew that!" I exclaimed and felt his gaze on me. "Sorry. Continue."

"Okay, we also like girls who are hard to get … well, not all of the guys, but definitely Drew."

"Jayden, I am hard to get."

"Yeah I know, so you have that checked. Oh, and guys love ass. Just wear something that will emphasize your ass. And sway your hips while walking. That's hot."

I nodded, mentally writing everything down.

"And self-confidence, which you already have. That's hot too. Oh, and don't dress too slutty in front of him, but just enough so you show some skin sometime. Like short shorts and a tank top."

"I'm wearing that right now," I said and Jayden's eyes traveled down my body. Then he looked at my face and observed me for a while.

"Your staring is awkward," I said and laughed awkwardly.

"And laugh …" he trailed off, still looking at me. "You should laugh more. It suits you."

I rolled my eyes and nudged him playfully. "Don't turn into a softie man, don't be so cheesy."

I rolled his eyes. "I hate cheesiness," he murmured and I nodded.

"The same, man. The same."

1 hour later

"So …" Jayden trailed off and I rolled my eyes.

After two hours of talking and cleaning the kitchen we were finally standing in front of my beach house.

"So … is this the time I tell you I had a great night and we should do it again -" I was cut off.

"… and I ask you out again and then kiss you?" finished Jayden and looked at me, amused.

"Naah," we both suddenly said and laughed.

"I think we better work out as partners in crime that a couple," said Jayden and I nod, a creepy smile finding it's way on my face.

"I agree. Next time, we should totally film us and make a show," I exclaimed. "We are so hilarious!"

"Or rob a bank …" trailed off Jayden and I shot him a playfull look.

Suddenly, door behind me opened and Drew stepped out, talking to someone on the phone. He saw us and nodded at us before heading towards the beach.

Jayden looked at me and pointed after Drew. "That is your chance!" he said enthusiastically and I shifted.

"I don't know …" I spoke and he looked at me with a stern look. "Nu-huh. No backing down. Just tell him and remember all the things master mind Jayden told you."

I was still unsure and he saw it, because he suddenly grabbed my arm and started pulling me with him towards the beach. He stopped and hissed. "Do it. Don't be a wimp, Meg."

I rolled my eyes and breathed in. "Fine. I'll do it." I said as I got out of his grip and started walking in the same direction I saw Drew go before.

"Good luck!" Shouted Jayden behind me.

When I spotted Drew, I started feeling unsure about everything, but I gritted my teeth. I won't be a pussy anymore. I will do something I want, what is good for me. And I have nothing to lose.

»I thought about your offer,« I said out loud, stepping towards him. He was standing close to the water, just watching the sun set. He raised his head when he heard my words and slowly turned around, looking me straight in my eyes. His lips were, like usually, curled up in a smirk.

"And?" he spoke amused, his eyes sparkling mischievously. It was like he already knew my answer.

I was still making my way towards him, and it felt like going down to the road of hell. I didn't know what the consequences of my actions would be, but honestly, I was so caught up in a moment I didn't care anymore.

"No strings attached?" I said and bit my lip. I was already close to him. His smirk grew even louder as he replied. "I don't do love, sweetheart."

I took the last few steps that were separating us and collided with his hard chest. I looked up in his eyes. "Good, because neither do I," I whispered as I threw my arms around his neck and tangling them in his hair and pulling his head down.
