Chapter Eleven

Sophia’s Birthday.

Finally, Sophia Adoria Tennon clocks 5 today and she will be having a home party; A princess themed party. It was hard for Sophia to fall asleep yesterday night as she was so excited for today.

Gabby moved in with Terrence and Sophie two weeks after he asked her to move in with them. They now live together as a loving family connected by heart. Sophie is now very fund of Gabby that Terrence sometimes gets jealous of Gabby getting all the attention he used to. But Terrence is over the moon. His girls are his life; nothing could be more fulfilling than having those you love most staying with you.

“Morning my love,” Terrence kissed Gabby on her forehead.

“Morning” She replied, kissing him on the cheek.

“Shouldn’t we go wake up the birthday girl now?” She asked.

“Sure. Let’s do that.” Terrence encouraged as he helped her from the bed. They exited their room for Sophie’s room.

Little Sophie was sleeping soundly, cuddling with her pink teddy bear.

Gabby took a seat on her bed and started showering her face with kisses. “Wake up Sophie,” Gabby said in between kisses.

“No. I want to sleep.” Sophie replied as she snuggled closer with her teddy bear.

“But it’s your birthday,” Gabby said which made Sophie open her eyes immediately.

“It’s my birthday” Sophie repeated as she rubbed her eyes with the back of her little hands.

“Yes, Happy Birthday my love” Terrence said as he lifted her from the bed into his arms.

“Thank you Daddy” She replied.

“Happy Birthday Sophie,” Gabby said as she stood up and kissed her on her forehead.

“Thank you, Gabby.” Sophie grinned.

“I’m 5 today.” She suddenly remembered.

“Yes, sweetheart. You are growing up so fast.” Gabby said as she playfully squeezed Sophie’s nose which caused her to giggle more.

“So how do you feel Sophie? Do you feel a year older or Do you feel taller?” Gabby asked.

“Hmmm, I don’t know” Sophie shrugged. “I just feel happy because I have You and my Daddy” Sophie said with a charming smile as Gabby and Terrence both kissed her forehead at the same time.

“So what do you want for breakfast?“Gabby asked the little girl.

“Pancakes!” Sophie screamed, Gabby and Terrence chuckled.

They walked out of Sophie’s room to have breakfast after which Gabby helped Sophie take a shower and dressed her up.

Sophie’s party is to take place in the garden at the back of their house and the people Terrence hired had arrived early this morning to start the decorations. Debbie volunteered to take care of the food and Nikki volunteered to take care of snacks and dessert. Leaving Gabby with the cake and making Sophie look beautiful for the party. They had done that on purpose to relieve Gabby from stress.

As soon as it was noon, Debbie arrived with the food alongside her husband and her twins Peyton and Finley who were already dressed for the party. Peyton as Princess Amber and Finley as prince James.

“Thanks so much, Debbie,” Gabby said as she assisted Debbie in organising the serving area where the food is to be placed.

“You have nothing to thank me for honey” Debbie assured and they were both interrupted by Sophie who was already in her Princess Sophia’s costume.

“Gabby, meet my best friend Olivia.” Sophie introduced as Gabby said hi to Olivia who was in her princess Elsie costume.

“It’s so nice to meet you Gabby. Sophie talks about you a lot.” Olivia said.

“Same here sweetie. I love your dress it’s so pretty.” Gabby commended.

“Thank you.” Olivia grinned. “My mom made it.” She pointed to a woman holding a little girl in her arms which Gabby assumed was Olivia younger sister. one of the twin.

“Common Olivia. Peyton and Finley are waiting for us.” Sophie said as she dragged Olivia away.

Soon enough, all the guest arrived and the party was in full session. The kids enjoyed themselves as there was a lot to eat and lots of games to play. The adults were not left out. Even though it was a princess-themed party, they had their adult corner; The kids’ parents got to know each other and they also did a few adult games. Gabby also got to know Olivia’s mom and younger sisters, the Twins, June and Violet.

Gabby’s parents were invited and Sophie was thrilled; she introduced them to her friends. Terrence also invited some people from the office so they brought their children.

The truth is that most people at Tennon inc knew something was going on between their boss and Gabriela Brown. They dare not oppose or behave rudely to Gabby because they knew the consequence that awaits them. Most workers of Tennon Inc were kindhearted people and were happy for Terrence and Gabby.

When it was time to cut the cake, everyone was asked to gather together. There were five princess cakes on the table. Gabby ordered two, Debbie and Nikki brought one each and Terrence’s mom brought the final one, Making 5.

Sophie was asked to pick a favourite and candles were placed on top it. Terrence lit the candle and told Sophie to close her eyes and make a wish which she did before blowing off the candle. Everyone cheered as they continued to sing Happy Birthday song to Sophie.

Sophie received gifts from almost everyone that came to the party. It was a fun-filled day. Gabby was also opportune to meet Terrence mother and her husband and also Terrence friends from high school.

After everyone had left. Debbie and Nikki stayed back for a while to help Terrence and Gabby clean up.

“Thanks for helping us plan today my love. Sophie had fun and so did everyone.” Terrence appreciated as he kissed Gabby’s forehead.

“Sure, it was all worth it.” Gabby grinned.

“Are you ready for this?” Terrence asked and Gabby nodded.

“I just hope she takes the news well.” She said nervously. Terrence gave a hand a little squeeze indicating all will be well.

They both entered Sophie’s room and saw her sitting on her bed in her PJ, watching a cartoon.

“Hey princess, we want to talk to you,” Terrence said.

He grabbed a duffel bag, placed it opposite Sophie’s bed and sat on it while Gabby sat beside Sophie on her bed. Then Terrence put the TV on mute.

“Sophie we have another birthday gift for you,” Terrence said with a smile.

“But you have given me my present already.” Sophie grinned.

“So you don’t want any other present?” Terrence teased.

“Of course I want it.” Sophie giggled.

Then Gabby gave Sophie the present. It was wrapped with a colourful green paper. Sophie stared at it for a while before taking a glance at Gabby, then her dad.

“Open it.” Gabby encouraged even though there was a trace of nervousness in her voice. Terrence noticed it and gave her hand another little squeeze.

Sophie finally unwrapped the present and came in contact with a purple frame which had a picture in it. She looked at the picture but she couldn’t come to a conclusion what the picture meant.

“Remember when you told me you wanted a baby sister?” Terrence said and Sophie smiled, she was happy that her dad finally brought up the topic.

“You are going to have a baby sister or brother in a few months. This is the baby’s picture; It’s still tiny. The baby is still growing in Gabby’s belly but will be here with us in very soon, before you celebrate your next birthday.” Terrence said with a smile as Sophie’s eyes never left his. She finally broke the contact with her father and looked down at the frame she was holding. The look was priceless as Sophie had tears in her eyes.

She placed the frame by her side, hugged Gabby and cried into her chest.

“Thank you, Gabby. I have always wanted a baby sister. Thank you for giving me one. I promise to play with her every time. I promise to share my toys and my room with her. I promise to be a good big sister to her and I promise not to make her cry.” Sophie cried harder in Gabby’s chest.

“Its alright sweetie” Gabby tried to calm the little girl. “I have no doubt you will be the best big sister ever” She added.

Sophie pulled away from the hug and Gabby wiped the little girl’s tears with her right thumb.

“Don’t I deserve a hug too?” Terrence teased and Sophie jumped into his lap and gave him a tight hug. “Thank you too, Daddy.” She said with a teary voice.

“I got you a shirt Sophie,” Gabby handed the shirt to Sophie. It was a pink shirt with the world best big sister design on it.

“Terrence assisted Sophie in reading the words on the shirt and Sophie screamed excitedly.

“I want to wear the shirt to school, tomorrow daddy. please.” Sophie pleaded with a pout.

“No problem princess. But you don’t have school tomorrow so you can wear it on Monday.” Terrence said and Sophie nodded.

She jumped down from her father’s lap and reached for the frame. She smiled at it before giving it a very long kiss. Then she placed it on her nightstand where she could see it every day.
