Temptation

Living in hell means you see many, horribles things. I’ve heard the never ending screams, witness brutal beatings of men and women alike.

We're often chained to the ceilings by our wrist until they painfully swelled then became thin as if from starvation and from there is the only way to slip through and let gravity run it’s course to a grisly ‘death’ so to speak. Of course, you never die; simply awake to start the cycle over.

After a while you get use to these things like the feel of flames licking your body and the smell of sulfur in your nose. it’s oddly numb how one can just wake up from an agonizing fall or the like.

But what never got better is constantly wondering, I travel non-stop and not of my own accord to nowhere in particular . One moment, I’m standing in a red desert wishing desperately for just a drop of water to ease my itchy throat. Then, I’m crawling on my knees down a cobblestone path leading on forever, letting each and every jagged pebble pierce my flesh until a trail of blood soaked my lower body.

Time is not a concept here and I’ve honestly lost count of exactly how long I’ve been here. It could be centuries or decades. I’ve been punished for the crimes I’ve committed in the living world and yet I don’t feel restless, merely lonely. Like I said, my position is always changing and with it so do the people I meet, it’s scarer to be around a horde of people then all alone.

I need a break: somewhere I can breath and be undeservingly at peace.

Our master watches us, he always does so when I kneel down and face the ground I know he can hear me.

“My lord I wish to join the Temptation squad out in the living world. I wish to be useful to you.” I said bowing before the great one.

His booming voice rushed at me like a wind that would knock out my legs and blow me to where he bid. “Why the change suddenly my demonling? I have been waiting for you to approach me, but I thought perhaps you’d hold on longer,” He chuckled.

“I am a difficult one my lord,” I replied, giving him a smirk before bending my head back down.

I could almost imagine him smirking back, as if he’d won a bet of some kind. “Alright, I grant your request. You already know how to steal young girls so this should be easy for you. You have four days out there, so do not disappoint me.”

Lucifer’s presence vanish leaving me to my own devices. knowing I had his blessing I spread my large wings and took off to the surface.

When I arrived I found myself in Alabama of all places. It’s no California, but it’ll do for my mission.

Disguising myself as a human meant looking horribly lame, but the humans fall apart just from one glance. That alone is priceless.

I style my hair short and spiked then exchange my torn leather jumpsuit for a business suit and tie. As I check my reflection in a shard of broken glass my sensitive nose picks up the distinct smell of a virgin.

A very intoxicated virgin at that.

Now for the fun part. She was at the bar with four empty shot glasses in front of her and two men convincing her for more. this was too easy. Hero time!

“Please guys, I can’t drink anymore thank you though.” She smiled flashing pearly white teeth.

The men weren’t taking no for an answer however. “C’mon babe just a few more then we can go somewhere to have some real fun.”

“I believe the lady said ‘no thanks’. it’s in your best interest to leave her alone.” Just to make myself seem more trusting I quickly flashed a false badge to them. “It’s time to go.”

The smallest of two eye’s widen in fear as he back away and tugged at his friend's arm.

“Shit man, he’s 5-0! let’s get out of here.”

Once they dispersed I smirked and took a seat next to the girl who looked shocked herself, but noticeably more calm and looked her over. “Are you okay miss, they didn’t bother you too much did they?”

“No, no. I’m fine. it was my fault anyways, see I just turned 21 and this is my first bar so I might have been too over zealous,” she slurred. I nodded politely in understanding.

21 was the magic number for humans nowadays: the number that gets many of them in hell.

“My car is just outside if you want I can give you a ride home, I’m sure someone will be worried sick if something were to happen to you.” I gave her my most velvety soft voice and it worked like a charm. I had the girl outside with me in mere moments and around the corner.

Luckily, her intoxication slowed her reaction to ask why were blocks away from the bar and still no car.

Suddenly she was yanked away from me. “Hey! she’s with me,” I snapped, turning my head.

“No, she’s with me.” The girl was being held back by a beautiful dark haired woman with bright hazel eyes and long flowing dress. she was...enchanting.

“Who’re you and why do you have my sister?” She demanded narrowing her eyes at me.

I replied as normally as if I were telling the truth. “Name’s Detective Calloway, I’m off duty and found your sister being harassed in a bar so I figured I’d bring her home as there was no designated driver around.”

Those eyes narrowed even further, “Her house is the opposite way detective.”

“Where the fuck am I?” my former prey asked swaying around until she caught sight of the older woman. “Oh yeah Shelly!! I’m so glad to see you! how was that event thingy.”

I pondered how she could let this little one come out without accompany her as a designated driver? You could see the level of love and protection she had of her through her smile.

“It’s was fine Clair now it’s time to go home. Thank you detective.”

Without a parting glance Shelly and Clair left and as I stood alone in the street I wondered to myself who exactly Shelly was and why she didn’t fall for my charms. It wouldn’t be unheard of for woman to fear men but this one had no trust for me whatsoever.

This won’t do.

Not at all.

Even though my master will appreciate a strong willed woman like that in his collection, she’s mine and mine alone. I will have her, break her until she begs for me.

Finding her shouldn’t be a problem but I’ll have to wait until later. Timing will be everything.
