Chapter 12

I pulled out my phone and texted Leila.

To: Leila

Message: You wanna come over? :)

I hopped off of my bed and shuffled around my room for my iPod. I looked through my playlists awhile before deciding on by if I’m James Dean You’re Audrey Hepburn by Sleeping with Sirens

I flopped back on my bed and listened to the lyrics. This had to be one of my favorite songs.

I got up when I heard the doorbell ring and jogged downstairs.

I opened the door and raised my eyebrows at Leila

“You got here pretty fast, didn’t you?

“I was kinda already on my way over here.”

I shook my head at her and let her in.

“So, are we gonna watch movies on Netflix like we have nothing better to do?”

“Yupp, but first, I wanna go to that new ice cream parlor.”

“The one on Salem?”

Leila nodded and I went to grab my wallet and denim jacket

When we arrived at Lolo’s Leila was practically drooling. I giggled as she skipped inside.

“Hun, I’m going to need you to keep the drool in your mouth.”

Leila glared at me but wiped her mouth anyway. I giggled again. She was so silly! I decided to go with strawberry cheesecake chunks. I moaned as my taste buds exploded. I almost couldn’t believe all the ice cream was homemade. After paying for both my and Leila’s ice cream I turned around and smashed into a wall. Scratch that, walls weren’t muscular. This definitely felt like Deja-vu. When I looked up I gasped. I just creamed some serious eye candy!!

“I’m sorry.” Mr. Eye candy said.

His voice was so smooth sexy. He has intense blue eyes that pierced you. HI snapped out of my horny teenage thoughts. Nessa you just creamed this guy with ice cream so why the hell is he apologizing instead of you?!

“No, I should be the one apologized, considering I just creamed you.” Shit. Did I just say ‘creamed you’ out loud? I could hear Leila giggling behind. Yupp I did.

Blue eyes chuckled. I felt my cheeks heat and I groaned.

“I’m such a dork, I’m sorry.”

Kayden shook his head and smiled. “I think you’re pretty cute.”

His smile was so infectious and I couldn’t help but return it.

“My names Kayden, by the way.” He said offering me his hand

“Vanessa,” I replied taking his hand.

I gasped as a tingle shot up my spine. I felt this magnetic pull to Kayden that was very similar to what I feel for Dylan. Kayden stared at me intensely before speaking again.

“I’ll buy you another ice-cream.”

“No! You don’t have to do that. It was my fault, anyway”

“I insist.”

Kayden smiled and proceeded with ordering me another ice cream cone.

“Thank you.”

“No problem, love.”

He cocked his head to the side as if he heard something and sighed.

“I’m sure I’ll see you around.” Kayden winked and made is way out of the shop.

It wasn’t until Leila nudged me that I realized that I had been staring after him.

“A new hottie in town is definitely gonna make things interesting.”

I nodded my head in agreement. This was definitely going to prove to be interesting.

I found her! My soul mate and she’s everything that I hoped her to be. She was completely breathtaking and she looked even cuter when she was blushing. As she told me her name I smiled. Vanessa, so beautiful. My ears rang and I cocked my head to the side when I heard my brother Avery’s voice.

“If he doesn’t hurry the hell up I’ll find my own ‘snack’. There are plenty to choose from.”

“Chill out. You’re being impatient.” Levi said

I heard a loud smack. I’m guessing he smacked him upside the head. I sighed.

“I’m sure I’ll see you around.” I winked at Vanessa

I swiftly made my way to the car.

“Humans are not our food source!” I glared at Avery

“Well, technically they are- even if it is coming from a blood bag.” He smirked

“He does have a point.” Levi chimed in

I narrowed my eyes at them.

“Besides don’t act like you didn’t feed off of your girlfriends and flings, just like we did.”

“The difference is I was smart about it. Look, everyone knows body temperature is better than a blood bag, especially when sex is thrown into the mix, but we can’t do that stuff anymore. The whole point of us moving here was because mom wanted a new start. I won’t let you upset her.” I said heatedly

We could only mess with people’s minds so much until they started questioning the blanks in their memory and everything else that came with encountering a vampire. The last move had really upset mom. We were actually able to grow up there and all of us had gotten attached to the people around us. Even if we didn’t sound like it sometimes we really loved humans and so did the rest of our family. I refuse to let anyone upset mom; even if it is my idiot brothers.

“I know.” Avery sighed facing forward

When we got home Levi and Avery made a beeline for the couch I shook my head at them. They were practically like twins with how I sync they were. Levi raised an eyebrow at me

“Bro, I’ve been meaning to ask, what the hell happened to your shirt?” He asked and Avery nodded in agreement.

I sighed as I sat down in the love seat and began telling them how I met Vanessa. Once I was done telling them the story Levi laughed.

“You would be the one to find your soul mate first.”

I narrowed my eyes at him “What is that supposed to mean”

“It means you go through girls like a bag of chips and we don’t see you settling down.” Avery chortled

“I feel like you just called me a whore and I just never found a girl that could keep my interest long enough.”

“What about Alexa? She was hot and you kept her around longer than the others.” Avery asked

“Yup, plus she was a vampire,” Levi added

I sighed.

“Honestly, that’s probably the only reason she lasted longer; with her there were no boundaries.”

“True.” Levi and Avery both said in agreement

It was always easier to date vampires than humans. You didn’t have to constantly hide and you were able to feed freely. Things were always more exciting. There was no limit of things you could do to keep entertained. You could move at your pace and not worry about your partner having to catch up. Although slowing down to a humans pace every now and then wasn’t all that bad; and even more so if she could hold your attention.

I sighed. We were now having family dinner which consisted of my Mother, Father, Avery, Levi, Noah, Mason, Chloe, and Sadie. I sighed again. Avery and Levi kept dropping hints about my soul mate and everyone was looking at me suspiciously. Why in the bloody hell couldn’t they let me tell them on my own?! My mother narrowed her pretty pale blue eyes at me.

“Okay, what happened? Spill!”

And for the third time tonight, I sighed. I just know my moms going to make a big deal out of this. It was definitely going to be a long night.
