“Okay, sit down, breathe, and clear your head.” Dad said.
“Seriously dad, we’re going to meditate?!”
“It’s not meditation!”
“Well, that’s the what it seems like!”
“Well that’s what it seems like.” Dad mocks.
“Just do it!”
“Fine, fine.” I huffed.
I clear my head and breathe. I hear my fathers strumming heart beat, the sound was oddly calming.
“Talk to the elements, let them guide you.”
I open up and listen to the whispers of the wind. The winds seemed to giggle in anticipation. I heard several clinks and opened my eyes to see that my father placed five bowls in front of me. They each had a symbol : Water, Wind, Fire, Earth and Spirit.
“You can’t force the elements. You have to ask them for control.”
I talked to the elements; each of them excited to see what would happen next. At first I thought I was doing something wrong but then the spells flowed into my head erasing my doubt. My mouth began forming the words effortlessly.
Water: Augas honestas, meu amigo, me campañeiro, meu mundo, o unico que podo facer é in pouco de control.
Wind: Ventos quentes, meu amigo, me campañeiro, meu mundo, o unico que podo facer é in pouco de control.
Fire: Brincalló lume, meu amigo, me campañeiro, meu mundo, o unico que podo facer é in pouco de control.
Earth: Terraamable, meu amigo, me campañeiro, meu mundo, o unico que podo facer é in pouco de control.
Spirit: Espiritovibrante, meu amigo, me campañeiro, meu mundo, o unico que podo facer é in pouco de control.
As I finished spirits incantation, I felt a fraction of my magic leave me I opened my eyes; only to be rendered speechless. Water flowed in a circular motion, fires playful flames flickered relentlessly, roots sprouted from the ground and curled around its bowl, and spirit seemed to be orbs of me and dad’s magic. Which I guess made sense, since our magic was, for lack of better term laced into into our souls or spirits.
The only one that didn’t seem to manifest was air. I guess dad noticed my pout.
“Don’t worry about it, Nessa.”
“You did amazing for your first time. Its just hard for wind to stay in one place for a long period of time. Its going to need a little more convincing.” Dad smiled down at me.
I took my time coaxing the wind. The wind thumped excitedly as I asked it to come and play with me. The wind swirled as it flowed into the bowl; picking up grains of dirt and strips of grass as it did.
“You, baby girl, have just excelled in controlling your magic and the elements.”
I jumped up and grabbed my dad in a tight hug.
" I love you, daddy.”
“I love you too, baby girl.”
“You did a good job, love. If you just continue practicing you won’t have a problem.”
The following week was just a stream of unfortunate mishaps. It was official; Bianca had it out for me. It was only lunch and she had managed to already spill her low fat mocha on my white shirt, trip me; effectively ripping my pants, and gotten a gunk of gum stuck in my hair.
Thankfully magic saved me every time. Thank God, for that too, cuz’ it pissed her off every time I came out fine. I filled in Mrs. H in on the mocha incident and told her I was feeling sticky; she informed me that I could take the time to shower before coming to gym.
I rarely ever feel comfortable enough to take showers at school; I mean who does, but today was an exception. I grabbed a towel and some liquid soap as I made my way to a shower in the corner of the locker room. I lathered up and sighed in content as the icky feeling was swept away by the water.
After I was satisfied, I dried of feeling refreshed. I walked up to my locker, and closed it just as quickly as I opened it. I rubbed my eyes and opened my locker once again, to see that I was right. The damned bitch had stolen my clothes! Okay, spells! Damn I can’t remember any good spells! The only one I could remember was an illusion. It only made it seem like you were wearing clothes. I whispered the the spell and walked out of the locker room feeling thoroughly embarrassed.
The good news is that is that I officially love Mrs. H. She told me I looked a little feverish and that I could sit out today. Dylan looked hurt by the distance I was keeping from him, and it nearly broke my heart; but if he touched me I don’t know how I would react. Especially since he would actually be making skin to skin contact. That would rouse questions that I’m not prepared to answer yet.
As soon as gym ended I hauled ass. I cursed when I realized that Dylan brought me to school. Halfway home I felt someone following me. I sped up to try and cause some distance, but they were right on my tail.
The stranger grabbed my arm and twirled me around. I was getting ready to scream when he smacked his hand over my mouth.
“Chill, no need to scream. I just wondering if you knew other witches could see past your illusion.”
Past my- Oh God! He could see me and all my naked glory. I blushed a deep red and smacked him in the chest.
“Ouch! It’s not my fault! You caught me off guard!”
“If it makes you feel any better, you look sexy as hell.”
I chuckled. This guy was something else.
“What’s your name?”
“Kai and you?”
“Umm, how about I walk you home, so we can talk? I didn’t even know that there were others witches in town.”
“Yea, I’d like to sit down and talk as well.”
My instincts were telling me that I didn’t need to be wary of him, and I honestly did want to talk. The whole way home we talked about the little things, slowly getting to know each other. It was nice; I felt like we had known each other for years. Although it was completely embarrassing, I was glad we met.
I led Kai into my house and told him to take a seat on the couch.
“Umm, I’m going to go change.”
I blushed and ran upstairs as Kai started laughing. Once I was properly dressed I sat down next to Kai and gazed at him. Kai, was Hawaiian, so he had a natural mocha tint and dark hair. I thought his best features were his amber-like eyes and full lips.
“Like what you see?” Kai asks cockily.
I slammed a pillow into his face. This of course sets off a massive pillow fight. When my parents came home Kai and I were thoroughly worn out and laying across the living room floor.
“Who’s your friend?” My mom asked, eyebrows raised.
“This is Kai.”
" I wasn’t aware that there were any other witches in town, what family are you from?”
My father’s eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“Your father wouldn’t happen to be Chris, would he.”
“Yupp, that’s him.” Kai nodded
“Ahhh, in that case, we must meet soon.” My dad said, taking a seat on the couch.
“How did you guys meet?”
“I’d rather not say!” I squeaked out, and Kai smirked.
My parents gave me questioning glances but dropped the subject. I huffed and dragged Kai upstairs to my room.
“How come you don’t go to my school? Don’t you live close?”
Kai nodded. “I’m transferring tomorrow. I literally just move two weeks ago, so I was trying to get familiar with my surroundings.”
Kai chuckled and ruffled my hair.
“I better go before my mom gets fussy.”
“No! Don’t go, ask if you can sleep over!”
Kai already felt like a brother to me, and I didn’t want him to go.
“Dad! Can Kai sleep over?” I called down to dad.
“As long as you behave!” He called back.
Kai excused himself to call his mom. Kai returned with a smile.
“She said yes. My Mom’s more excited about it, then I am. She can’t wait to meet you guys.”
“Great! I’ll go get some snacks.”
I ran downstairs and grabbed some Doritos and red vines. I texted Dylan telling him that I wouldn’t need a ride to school tomorrow before racing upstairs. I laid the snacks on the bed before plopping down next to Kai and getting comfortable.
I couldn’t help but laugh. When I turned on Vampire Diaries, Kai huffed and puffed, but now he was intensely watching the show while munching on red vines.
“Aren’t you the one who said you didn’t want to watch this?” I teased, and Kai pouted.
“Leave me alone. It happens to be slightly interesting.”
Slightly my ass. It was going on one o’ clock, and I knew we had to get some sleep for school tomorrow.
“Bro, we gotta get some sleep.” I paused, realizing what I said.
I didn’t want Kai to feel awkward. Kai smiled at me softly and pulled me to his chest.
“It’s okay baby, I think of you like a baby sister, too.”
And that his we fell asleep. When I woke up, I noticed that Kai and I had been covered up. I rolled my eyes. That meant that my mom had probably taken pictures to fan girl over.
“Kai, get up!”
“Babe, leave me alone.”
I giggled and jumped on top of him.
“Uggh. Okay, okay! I’ll get up, princess.”
“You can use my shower. I’ll use the one downstairs.”
“Okay.” He said groggily as he sat up slowly.
" Uhh, I think my ex left some of his clothes here.” I sad searching through my closet.
I pulled out a Nike just do it T-shirt and some nice fitting black jeans. I laid them on the bed and grabbed a pair of black shorts and a tank top that said ‘juicy’ on it. After I took my shower I brushed my teeth and curled my hair. Once I was satisfied with my look I headed upstairs to grab my stuff.
Kai was naked beside the towel that hung loosely around his hips. And let me tell you that boy was fine. Kai smirked and proceeded to change in front of me. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my stuff. I slipped on my jacket and backpack while Kai finished up getting dressed.
When he was done dressing, I dragged him downstairs for some breakfast. My mom made omelets with onions, peppers, spinach, and lots and lots of cheese. Breakfast was so good that we practically inhaled it.
As soon as we arrived at school, everyone stared with open interest. I dropped Kai off at the office and stopped dead in my tracks. Kayden, Dylan, Emmett were all hanging out in front of the main office, and they were in an obvious argument.
“Okay, what the hell is going on?”
Of course, I was ignored.
“I’m tired of you fuckers hanging around Vanessa all the damn time!” Emmett yelled.
“She’s not yours!” Dylan and Kayden snapped in unison.
I was really starting to get pissed I wasn’t property or something to be owned; yet here they are fighting over who I belonged to.
“I’m not anyone’s property!” I yelled.
I didn’t expect much from Emmett, but it hurt that Kayden and Dylan would fight over me as if I was simply a toy Emmett was trying to steal.
“Whoa, everything okay, baby?” Kai asked.
“I’m just really done with assholes right now,” I said, grabbing Kai’s hand.
“That my friend was a lot of tension.”
“How the hell did you get three guys fighting over you?”
I sighed, “I don’t even know.”
For the rest of the day, I avoided all three boys and was successful in doing so until lunch. Dylan and Kayden both growled at Kai as he sat down next to me. Kai smirked and pulled me to him, nuzzling my neck.
“This is fun!” He whispered in my ear.
I giggled Kai was so mean!
“Who are you?” Kayden snarled.
“Kai, nice to meet you.”
“The feelings not mutual.” Dylan ground out.
“Damn, hostile much? Chill, I can’t help if Vanessa finds me irresistible.”
I threw my head back and laughed.
“Stop being an ass, Kai!”
“By the way, am I sleeping over again tonight?” Kai asked
He totally did that on purpose.
“If you want to, you know my parents don’t care.”
“He slept over your house?!” Dylan and Kayden roared.
“I’m still mad at you guys. Therefore it’s none of your damn business.”
“You honestly can’t still be mad?!”
“Well guess what, I still fucking am!”
I was almost positive I would forgive them, just not right now. I dragged Kai away as quickly as possible.
“Well, I guess moving here won’t be so boring after all.”
Later that night, Kai and I laid in bed talking.
“Okay, so fill me in on your boy drama. Why are they all fighting for dominance over you?”
“Emmett is my ex, who thinks he has another shot with me,” I said, rolling my eyes.
“What happened there?”
“You know that slutty girl he was sitting with at lunch?”
“He cheated on me with her, and then in his latest attempt in getting me back; he basically said none it would’ve happened if I’d just slept with him.”
Kai grimaced, and his eyes grew angry.
“Do you want me to beat his ass?”
I laughed, “Nah, it’s all good.”
“Okay, so what’s the deal with Kayden and Dylan?”
I sighed, “I don’t know we have an odd relationship.”
“Very,” I said, turning onto my stomach.
“You do realize that I’m going to take immense pleasure in teasing them, right.”
I chuckled, “Your evil.”
“Yeah, and you love me anyway,” Kai said, nudging my shoulder.
“This happens to be very true, even though I have no idea why.”
Kai pouted, and I kissed him on the cheek.
“Are you going to forgive them?”
“Eventually, I think I’ll let them sweat a bit. They don’t need to know that it’s nearly impossible to stay mad at them.”
“I like the way you think.”
Is it weird that I hear
Violins whenever you’re gone (Whenever you’re gone)
Is it weird that your ass
Remind me of a Kanye West song? (Kanye West song)
Is it weird that I hear
Trumpets when you’re turning me on? (Turning me on)
Is it weird that your bra
Remind me of a Katy Perry song?
Mmm. Why is there music playing? I snuggle deeper into Kai’s arm.....
Every time that you get undressed
I hear symphonies in my head
I wrote this song just looking at you oh oh, oh
Yet the drums they swing low
And the trumpets they go
And the trumpets they go
Yeah, yeah the trumpets they go
Yeah the trumpets they go
I reached for my phone and turned off Jason Derulo’s song Trumpets. Uggh, why would that fucking ass turn my alarm on?! Not to mention that he was completely unaffected by it. He sleeps like the fucking dead! Damn! I just realised we had school!
“Wake up, loser!”
“Stop abusing me so early in the morning.” Kai groaned
“I haven’t even hit you, yet!”
“You verbally abused me! And what the hell do you mean ‘yet’!”
“Uggh, let’s just skip school,” Kai said, rolling onto his back.
“Hmmm, that doesn’t sound too bad right now.”
“Of course it does, it was my idea, wasn’t it?”
I snatched his pillow from up under him.
“Damn, Vanessa. I was comfortable!” Kai whined
“Let’s go see why my parents didn’t wake us up.”
Kai being the loser he was, rolled out of bed and onto the floor with a thud.
I giggled and helped him get up.
“Couldn’t you have gotten out of bed like a normal person?”
“Pssh. Fuck being normal. Not that we were very normal, to begin with.”
I scoffed, “I’ll have you know I am very normal.”
“Sweetie, you’re a witch. You can only be so normal.”
“Whatever.” I stuck my tongue out childishly.
When we walked downstairs, we were met with my parents and who I guessed to be Kai’s parents.
“She’s so pretty!” Kai’s mom squealed as she bounded over to me and grasped my hand tightly.
“I’m so glad Kai met you. I was afraid my baby wasn’t going to make any friends!”
“Mom.” Kai groaned
Kai’s dad chuckled “Well, anyway, it’s always nice to meet another witch family. Its been awhile.”
Kai’s mom and dad had the same mocha skin and dark hair as him. Kai got his amber-colored eyes from his mother, while his dad’s was more of an hazel color. They were fairly young, like my parents. I was hoping both families would become closer after this get together. Everybody was now comfortably situated in the living room.
“So does this mean we don’t have to go to school today?” Kai asked
My mom chuckled, “No, you don’t have to go to school today.”
“Yes!” Kai and I chanted
Kai and I ran up to my bed and flopped on it. We both took awhile to get comfortable, and all you could hear was the rustle of sheets.
“Awe man! I’m not sleepy anymore!” Kai whined.
“Shhh,” I mumbled snuggling deeper into my pillow.
I started running my hands through his hair and we both become victims of sleep. It was eleven fifteen when we actually woke up. I left Kai in bed watching cartoons, while I went to go fix lunch.
When I walked into the kitchen I noticed a note hanging from an old hello kitty magnet. I didn’t even know we still had that thing. Apparently they went out to have some fun. I found it highly unfair that we weren’t brought along. I guess most teens wouldn’t want to hang out with their parents, but ours were actually pretty cool. I huffed. We’ll have to have our own fun.
Eh, I wonder what I should make. After rummaging through our fridge, I decided on making a bacon grilled cheese sandwich. Once I had the sandwiches in the pan, I got out some ginger ale and poured us both a glass. I heard the pan sizzling and flipped the sandwiches. I finally felt satisfied with the sandwiches and placed them on the plates before calling Kai down.
“Kai, lunch is ready!”
Kai bounded down a few stairs before he decided he was too lazy for that and slid down the banister.
“My moms gonna be pissed if you break our railing!”
“Are you calling me fat?!”
“Rude bitch. I’m too hungry to think of a comeback.”
“Ooh, grilled cheese!” Kai exclaimed taking a seat.
“With bacon,” I added
“Even better!” Kai said taking a bite
I laughed when Kai moaned
“You know I love you, right” Kai mumbled over his sandwich.
I sipped my ginger ale and nodded my head.
“I’m too awesome not to love.” I teased.
“So not only are you a rude bitch but your a cocky one too!” Kai shook his head
“Yea, but I’m your bitch,” I said sitting on his lap
“Okay, my bitch, wanna go to the mall?”
The car ride consisted of extremely loud singing and silly laughter. Kai and I walked into the mall singing Habits by Tove Lo
" I eat my dinner in my bathtub
Then I go to sex clubs
Watching freaky people getting it on
It doesn’t make me nervous
If anything I’m restless
Yeah I’ve been around and I’ve seen it all.” Kai sang
" I get home, I got the munchies
Binge on all my Twinkies
Throw up in the tub, then I go to sleep
And I drank up all my money
Tasted kind of lonely.” I sang
" You’re gone and I got to stay high
All the time to keep you off my mind, ooh ooh
High all the time to keep you off my mind, ooh ooh
Spend my days locked in a haze
Trying to forget you babe, I fall back down
Gotta stay high all my life to forget I’m missing you.” We belted out together.
I didn’t realize that we were singing as loudly as we were, but we now had an audience. Groups of teenagers smiled and clapped as we passed by. We laughed as we finished the song and people shouted for encores. I giggled as Kai dragged me into Hottopic. We spent nearly two hours with Kai handing me different outfits. Once we both had several outfits, we decided to head to the food court.
“What do you want, baby girl?”
I thought about it before deciding I wasn’t all that hungry.
“How about we get some water ice?”
“Mmmh, that sounds good.”
“Hello, how can I help you?” The cashier asked.
I winked when I notice him looking me up and down.
“I would like a sour patch water ice.”
“Do you really need anything sweet?”
I raised my eyebrow, “And why wouldn’t I?”
“Because you look sweet enough to eat already.” He smirked
I glanced at his name tag and saw that his name was Tyler. Well, he’s certainly amusing.
Kai coughed and wrapped his arms around my waist.
“It’d be smart not to flirt with my baby sister,” Kai said, oozing intimidation.
“By the way, I want a mango water ice.”
Tyler immediately backed off after sending me a sly smirk. I grabbed our orders and found a table near by. Kai pouted at me as I shoveled some of my water ice.
“I want some.”
“Only if I can have some of yours.”
Kai nodded, and I fed him some and vice versa. This went on for awhile before he excused himself to the bathroom. A few minutes later, Tyler sat down in Kai’s seat.
“Shouldn’t you be working?”
“I’m on break.”
“So, do you guys were contacts or something?”
“Haha, no it’s our natural eye colors.”
“That so cool.”
“I have a proposition for you,” Tyler said, leaning towards me.
“And that is?”
“How about the three of us have a threesome?”
Who asks that?! Were strangers!
“Well, you guys are both hot. Give it some thought, then call me,” Tyler said walking away after slipping me a piece of paper
Can someone please tell me what the hell just happened?! Kai came back and noticed the paper in my hand.
“Tyler’s phone number.”
“Who’s that?” Kai’s asked questioningly
I rolled my eyes. “The cashier.”
“Ooooh, so he wants to hook up with you.”
“Not exactly. Umm, he wants to hook up with us.”
Kai roared in laughter.
“He- he wanted a threesome?!”
I blushed and smacked Kai’s arm.
“I’m sorry, but that’s awesome! That’s a first for me.”
“So, are we going to call him” Kai teased, wiggling his eyebrows.
“No, we are not calling him.”
The next day at school Kai and I were cornered by Leila, Dylan, and Kayden.
“Where the hell were you yesterday!”
“Chill I was at home.” I said reassuring her
“And at the mall.” Kai added and I nodded.
“So, you were with him all day yesterday?!” Dylan asked
Kai smirked, “From the time she woke up, to the time she went to sleep.”
“Shut the hell up!” Kai snapped
“I’ll talk to you later,” I said dismissing them.
I didn’t need them fighting. I guess it was time to tell them I forgave them and that Kai was like a brother to me.
They both looked like they had more to say but nodded before walking away.
" I’ll see you later, okay?”
Kai nodded, “I’ll see you later, love.”
Leila didn’t waste any time questioning me.
“What the hell is going on?! This whole week you’ve been acting strange! You haven’t told me anything! Like why you avoided Dylan the other day or where the hell you met Kai. You show up to school with him, and you guys are fucking inseparable! And then yesterday I was so damned worried about you!” Leila drew out a ragged breath, and I brought her into a hug.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. A lot has been going on. I’ll try to explain everything to you.”
I sighed. I guess it’s time to tell Leila that I was a witch. She was my best friend, and it was hard keeping things from her. I just hope my dad wouldn’t be pissed at me.
Vote. Comment. Enjoy! :D
