Chapter 21 Pt. 1

“Did you get close to Vanessa?”

“We hate each other. What do you think?” Bianca said.

I sighed in annoyance. She was really proving to be useless.

“But, I saw them at the store, and it sounds like they’re going to this guys lake house.”

“Kayden’s, I believe.”

“Good job, baby,” I said french kissing her.

“Do you know where she lives?” Bianca asked as we broke away from the kiss.

“Yeah, don’t worry about that part.”

Today was the day that Vanessa was going to die. I should be excited, but Bianca was already annoying the living hell out of me.

“Why out of all the cars you could have chosen, you choose a beat-up RV, that smells like pot?”

“Look, princess, just deal with the smell. We’re going to an area with a lot of lake houses, right?”

“So that means am RV following behind them won’t cause suspicion. For all, they know we could be a family going on our trip to our lake house.”

“I guess that makes sense.”

I rolled my eyes. I knew it made sense.

They had finally decided to make a stop at a gas station. Eventually, they all went inside except for one. I think his name was Kai. I guess it didn’t really matter he seemed to be sleeping anyway. I sent Bianca out to puncture their gas tank, and of course, she couldn’t do that without questioning me.

“What about Kai? He’s still in the car.”

I sighed. Obviously.

“I’m aware of that, sweetheart, that’s why I need you to be extra quiet when you do it. Now hurry up before one of them returns.” I said talking to her like a child

Bianca rolled her eyes ad hopped out of the RV. Bianca plunged the nail into the tank and raced back to me.

“Gross! My hands smell like gasoline, now!”

“You can wash your hands later, stop whining, it’s annoying.”

This mission was coming to an end, and I was tired of playing the nice guy. I watched as Vanessa returned to wait in the car. I almost wished we didn’t have to kill her, she was beautiful. I smiled when the boys returned and sped off. The faster they went, the faster their gas dwindled.

“Aren’t you going to go after them?”

“Bianca, they’re not going to get far with that leak.”

Everything was coming together nicely. Now my favorite part was coming up, killing her.

As soon as I felt Vanessa’s presence, I sped up. I grinned when the RV hit its maximum speed. I was so close to getting what I wanted, so close to getting what my family wanted. Vanessa was now, in our view, frozen in place. I felt a sense of pleasure when I realized that it was my presence that caused her to freeze in fear.

“Whoa, Slow down! You’re going t run her down!” Bianca yelled.

“That’s the plan, sweetheart.”

“W- what?”

I laughed when we finally made contact, and Vanessa’s body went hurtling through the air. This was way too easy. Now all I had to do was wait for her body to be buried. I couldn’t wait to hear Ailes’ praise.

Kaydens Pov.

What the hell just happened?! What the fucking hell just happened?! Dylan and I both ran to her and dropped to our knees, silent tears running down our faces. This couldn’t be happening. It had to be some cruel nightmare. It was now pouring as if the sky decided to join us in our grief. I laid my head on to her chest and listened. Ba-dum.... Ba-dum..... Ba-dum... Ba-da... Ba--da. She still has a pulse! But it was slowly decreasing. I had to do something before she died. I refused to let my mate die. I let my lips graze her neck before I sunk my teeth into her flesh. I nearly moaned at the taste. She had the sweetest blood that I had ever tasted. I waited until I was sure enough of my venom had slipped into her bloodstream before pulling back. I glanced at Dylan and saw blood dripping down his chin, Vanessa’s blood.

“What did you just do?!”

“I don’t know! My instincts just told me to bite her!”

“Can a werewolf bite even create another werewolf?”

“We have old legends about it, but no one’s tempted to try that in over centuries. It’s too risky.”

“So what the hell is going to happen to her?”

“Fuck! I don’t know!” Dylan yelled, running his hands through his hair.

We seriously just fucked up. Now there was no way to know what was going to happen to her. I got up with Vanessa in my arms and brought her to the car. Kai was sitting on the hood of the car, and like us, he had tears trailing down his face. He looked just as bad as us, if not worse. Vanessa was like his other half, so I knew this was fucking him up too.

“You fucktards are crazy; you know that right?! What am I supposed to do without out her? What the hell are we going to tell her dad?”

I didn’t know what to tell him. None of knew what we would do if Vanessa didn’t pull through this and telling her dad is almost as scary as the thought of losing her. I couldn’t think of any comforting or reassuring words, so I ignored his questions and placed Vanessa in the car.

Kai swiped the tears off his face and sat on the ground. I watched in confusion as he took a deep breath and closed his eye. My blood boiled.

“Are you fucking serious? Are you really trying to meditate right now?”

Kai’s eye’s shot open as he glared at me.

“I’m trying to fix the damned car, do me a favor and shut the fuck up!”

He sat like that for a while before holding his hand out to the car. A second past before I heard the bending of metal. What the hell was that?

Kai nodded his head toward the car. “Check the gas tank.”

I huffed and inspected the gas tank. My eyes widened at what I saw. There was no puncture, no crack. It looked seamless as if it never even happened.

Kai called out to Dylan.

Dylan lifted his head from the hood of the car.

“Hand me the gallon of water. It’s in the truck.”

“What are you even doing?”

“Just do it!” Kai snapped.

After a minute passed, Dylan finally made his way to the trunk of the car and retrieved the water. He stared at Kai intently before he handed him the water. We were both confused. We didn’t know what was going on, and panic was starting to settle in.

Kai wrapped his hands around the bottle and began murmuring in another language. It sounded a bit like Latin, but he was talking so fast I honestly could tell. The more that Kai spoke, the darker the water became until it was an amber-brown color.

Kai stood up from his position and walked over to pour the bottle into the tank.

“Can we get in the fucking car so we can save my best friend?!”

Dylan and I didn’t waste any time getting into the car, and we sped off. There were so many questions I had, but they would have to wait. I’m pretty sure Dylan broke several traffic violations, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was getting Vanessa to her family and finding a way to fix this. Vanessa jerked in my arms, and her heartbeat was unstable.

“What’s going on?”

“It’s reached her bloodstream. I’m guessing both of your bites are battling for dominance. If this continues too much longer than she’ll probably die.” Kai said, resting his hand on her forehead.

“So we really might lose her?”

Kai didn’t answer, and silence filled the car. Dylan finally pulled in to Vanessa’s driveway, and we all jumped out of the car. Dylan banged on the door until her dad answered. It took him a while to take it all in, but he let out a low curse.

“I knew this was going to happen!” He yelled as he snatched Vanessa away from me.

“Kai clear space for me,” Aiden ordered.

Kai stepped in front of us and flicked his wrist. I jolted out of my thoughts when the furniture slammed back.

“You guys are witches?” I asked, trying to confirm my thoughts.

Kai nodded.

“And Vanessa....” Dylan trailed off.

This time Aiden was the one that nodded.

“Honey, what’s all that noise?”

Vanessa’s mom gasped when she saw us.

“My baby! What happened?”

Kai, Dylan, and I gathered around and took turns, telling the story from beginning to end.

Dylan’s Pov.

Once we finished telling them everything, Vanessa’s mom broke into tears. Aiden sighed.

“So I’m guessing that you guys bit her on instinct, right?”

“We’re such fucking idiots, we never meant for this to happen! It’s all our fault!”

“While you guys are fucking idiots, it’s not your fault. I already know whose fault it is.”

“This is exactly why I didn’t want her practicing magic! The same thing that happened to your family is happening to my baby girl!” Vanessa’s mom paced in front of us.

“What are we missing? Who’s responsible for this?” I asked.

“Astrazia. Astrazia is an organization of people, both human and supernatural that wish to intertwine the magic from dead witches to their own Essence.”

So someone had deliberately hurt my mate. I growled low in my throat.

“We’re going to go kill people, right?” Kayden asked baring his fangs, and for once, I agreed with him a hundred percent.

Someone had to die for this.

“Only if you two are game. There’s no way I’m going to let someone hurt my baby girl and get away with it.” Aiden smirked.

Like he even had to ask. Vanessa let a feral scream. We all flinched. It hurt my wolf and me that she was in so much pain. She didn’t even sound human. Aiden snapped into serious mode and slid a giant book towards Kai. He held his hands over Vanessa’s body and told Kai to do the same.

“You know what to do?”

Kai nodded and started mumbling something I was incapable of understanding. A glowing green light appeared above Vanessa’s heart and began stretching over her body. Once it covered her entire body, it seemed to solidify as it morphed into a rectangular box. It almost looked like an oversized incubator.

“What does this do?” Kayden asked

“It will keep her fever down and try to heal any damage done in her body,” Aiden replied

He and Kai both removed their hands.

“The magic in her blood is probably the only thing that is keeping her alive.”

The realization hit me, and it hit me hard. If whatever spell Aiden and Kai placed over Vanessa failed, then she would die. Kayden and I would both lose her, and I don’t think I could handle that. Living life without your mate was unimaginable. The pain becomes even worse if you’ve come in contact with your mate, just to lose them. It is said that if you are blessed by the moon, then you would ve granted a second mate, but that was a mere myth. Not like I’d want anyone other than Vanessa. I let out a low curse..We really effed shit up, didn’t we? All I’ve ever wanted to do was love and protect her, even before I had met her. If Vanessa was really Kayden’s mate as well, then I know he feels the same. I could only pray to the god’s in the hope of Vanessa recovering.

I couldn’t take it anymore! Watching her almost lifeless body just lie there was driving me fucking nuts! The fact that they had revived her and that she wasn’t exactly dead was comforting in the beginning, but seeing her in limbo between life and death...... What kind of shit is?

I quickly strode out of the living room and upstairs, into the bathroom. I opened the door and found Dylan sitting on the tile floor, praying to any God out there. Being a vampire, we were considered, an abomination; especially in God’s eyes. So I was far from religious. Even so, I slid to the floor next to him and prayed for the first time in my life. I didn’t even know who I was praying to, but that didn’t matter, all that mattered was that someone heard me. I can’t lose Vanessa- we can’t lose Vanessa. How were we expected to stay sane if she didn’t pull through this? One thing I knew for sure, though, whether Vanessa made it through this or not, the four of us were going to raise hell.

Rebecca (Vanessa’s Mom)

I sat in the dining room with a bottle of Moscato in my hand. I couldn’t believe it- I honestly couldn’t believe it. This all felt like some sick nightmare. All I could do was sit there and sip my wine in between my sobs. I felt pathetic. I felt utterly useless as I watched Aiden bring our daughter back to life. Even with Aiden and Kai’s magic, Vanessa was still unstable, and no one knew what she would become if she survived this. My baby is in pain, and I can’t do shit about it. The anger and pain of not being able to protect my daughter rose through me. I clenched my fist, completely forgetting about the glass in my hand.

A shard of the glass was now embedded into my hand. Aiden rushed to my side immediately,

“Shit, Becca!”

He gingerly plucked out the shad before wiping the blood from my hands and healing me. Even now, his magic left me in awe. Aiden looked up at me worriedly. I tried to give him the best smile I could muster.

“I really liked that glass.”

Aiden’s mouth quirked up, and he kissed my hand where the shard once was, then my forehead, my cheeks, and then my lips.

“I promise I’ll do everything I can to save our little girl,” he whispered against me.

“I know you will,” I said pecking him tenderly.

Oh my fucking God! What the hell did we just do?! Zion now looked delighted. He had the goofiest smile I had ever seen on him. Does he even realize what he did?

“You didn’t say we were going to kill her!” I yelled when I could finally find my voice.

I furiously wiped the tears from my face. I wanted the bitch gone, but I didn’t want to kill her! Zion pulled the truck over and turned towards me.

“Babe, stop worrying! You did a good job- a great job!”

Zion leaned forward and pecked me, then again, and again, somewhere in between kisses, his tongue slipped in. I melted in his kisses. He hardly ever praised me or gave me affection, so I was soaking this all in.

“Everything will be fine,” Zion whispered in my ear.

Fuck yeah! That was way too easy! I think I deserve a reward and I was going to start with Bianca. She was so easy to manipulate. After a couple of kisses, I had her forgetting every little worry she had. She was just an attention whore. I brought her home and took her to bed immediately. The first and second round, I made sure to be gentle, just like she wanted, but after the third, I didn’t care. I was going to fuck her to my heart’s content. It seemed like being a good lay was her only redeeming quality. Hours later Bianca was still clinging to me.

“What are we going to do?”

“Don’t worry about it, babe.”

Pfft. As soon as my business with Ailes was done I was going to ditch her, didn’t she see that? This girl gets attached way too quickly. Honestly, I almost feel sorry for her. Only an idiot becomes an accomplice to murder, for a guy that doesn’t even want her. I kissed Bianca, and we went for another round. If it was possible, it was like she was drunk off of my sex. She couldn’t get enough of me. The next morning I woke up with Bianca laying on my chest. I shoved her off and prepared for today. Once I was ready, I wrote a note for Bianca

You got what you wanted. Leave before I get home. - Z

For the first time in a while, I had a bounce in my step. I’m finally going to hear that bastard, Ailes, praise me, after relaying the news to him. I entered Astrazia’s Head Quarters and made my way over to Ailes.

“Ah, how is your work going?”

I gave him a smug smirk “It’s completed. Her magic just needs to be extracted.”

Ailes broke into a grin, which by the way, is very creepy. The dude never smiles. It was like the most unnatural thing in the world.

“I knew I made the right decision sending you out.”

“Then we shall start the process immediately. Gerad! Start the preparations!”

Ailes lackey scurried away, muttering to himself. Ailes turned back to me.

“Get your little play thing to find out where and when the funeral is. We need to dig her out as soon as possible.”

Ailes nodded and went back to his research. Shit! Now I had to make up with Bianca. I rushed home and upstairs to my room. Bianca was still here, with the note in her hand.

“What the hell is this!”

“It’s not like you care! When your sleeping with someone, try not to call out other peoples name!.”

This, of course, was a lie but she didn’t know that. Plus, she was enamored by Emmett, so it was believable.

“What are you talking about?”

“Emmett!” I hissed the name like it was poisen.

Her eyes widened.

“Oh my God! Look, I never-”

“Save it. you obviously have feelings for him and I don’t share.”

I faked a sigh

“Even though that was royally fucked up, how about we continue to be friends.”

“Yeah, you can be cool, at times. Plus, who else am I going to talk to?”

Bianca smiled and nodded her head.

“Sounds good to me.”

We now sat in silence. I even started counting the number of tiles in the bathroom. Nothing helped. This was pure torture.

“What?” Dylan asked

“We didn’t call anybody!”

“They’re all probably going crazy!”

There was knock on the door followed by the door opening. Kai hesitantly poked his head in.

“Where have you been?” Dylan asked.

“In the basement breaking things.” Kai gave us a sheepish smile.

“Did it help?” I asked

“Not as much as I would of hoped.”

“Vanessa’s mom is going to have your ass, if you don’t clean up your mess.” Dylan let out a strained laugh.

Kai waved a dismissive hand. “Magic took care of that. Actually, I came up here to tell you that I was getting ready to call the others, they’re probably all panicking.”

“Yeah, I just thought about it.” I said resting my head on the wall.

Kai whipped out his phone and walked away. Shortly after that we heard Vanessa’s scream.

My phone slipped out of my hand when Kai told me what happened. There was so much information to process. Dylan was a werewolf. Kayden was a Vampire. Vanessa was apparently their mate. Jeez, our life was turning into one big supernatural novel! If wasn’t a life or death situation, I would have made a joke about the supernatural not being able to stay away from me. My breathing became short and ragged. I felt like I was hyperventilating. Rafe was at my side in seconds.

“What’s wrong?”

“Well, I know that you and your family are werewolfs.” I paused.

“And I know that you and your family are vampires.” I said pointing to Noah

They were all getting ready to protest, but I carried on.

“And, you need to know that Kai and Vanessa are witches.”

“Why are you telling us this now?” Sadie asked

“Someone tried killing Vanessa. A truck ran her over. Initially, she could of died from the impact but....”

“Oh shit! Those idiots bit her, didn’t they?!” Tony exclaimed.

I nodded and slid into the couch.

“They said that she’s pretty much on the line between life and death and no one knows what she’ll became.”

“This is so fucked up!” Avery shouted.

“Do they know who did it?” Mason asked

“They said they would fill us in, when we got there.”

“Then what the hell are standing here for? Lets get going!” Chloe exclaimed grabbing her stuff.

This was going to be a hell of a long night.

A feral scream pierced the air. Vanessa! Kayden and I raced downstairs. Vanessa was thrashing wildly against Aiden. Her groans and moans of pain echoed throughout the house. Aiden suddenly drew out a ragged breath and let go of Vanessa. She let out another roar of pain and Kayden and I rushed to her, or at least we tried to before Aiden stepped in front of us.

“Touching her, trying to contain her, it only makes it worse.”

“So, we’re just suppose to watch her like this!” Kayden yelled

Aiden shook his head “No, I wouldn’t recommend that either. I suggest you go upstairs and blast the tv, blast some music, or whatever you can find.”

“And that’ll make everything better.” I replied sarcastically

“No, but it’s better than watching and hearing her in pain.”

I realized that this was probably a thousand times harder for him and Vanessa’s mother. Aiden had always looked young. If you saw him, you would think that he was in his mid- twenties, but now it seemed as if his face had aged a couple of years. Of course, this was more than understandable. This was his daughter, and even with his significant power he had, he still couldn’t do much in a situation like this. Kayden and I both trudged upstairs and disappeared into separate rooms. This was going to a long and shitty night.

Just as I plopped onto the bed the door bell rung. Kayden leaned against the top of the staircase while I went to answer the door. I opened the door and was met with a smack. Fuck. I looked down and saw Leila.

“I trusted you guys to protect my best friend and I know that you guys would both do everything in your power to do that, except, when you guys are fucking arguing! It’s always about the same things and we’ve all heard it. You guy’s fight over Vanessa whenever you get the chance, but you completely neglect her, while doing so!”

Aiden walked into the room and placed a hand on her shoulder.

“While this probably could have been prevented, there’s no telling that there wouldn’t have been another incident, just like this. I have a bit of explaining to do.”

About an hour later everyone was filled in and we all dispersed to our rooms. Leila tried to refuse, she wanted to stay with Vanessa, or at least until she heard her screaming. She held her tears in as she ran to Vanessa’s room. I sighed and walked back to my room. We all had to be strong or at least pretend to be.

I slammed a pillow over my head, even with hardcore rock blasting, I could still hear Vanessa’s screams. It was non-stop. It was worse when it switched from fierce yells to pain filled cry’s. Those were the worst. Those made you feel like curling into a ball and crying with her. I desperately wished that I could take the pain away, but I couldn’t. Somehow I finally managed to shut my brain off long enough to doze enough.

I startled awake and reached for my phone. 1:45. That’s when I noticed it. Vanessa had stopped screaming. We all rushed to the hallway and glanced at each other, before racing downstairs. Vanessa’s mom was crying and Aiden was sagged against the couch. I was getting ready to cry out, thinking the worst, When I heard it.

Ba-da..... Ba-da.... Ba-dum... Ba-dum.. Ba-dum. Her heartbeat was steadily getting stronger. Dylan and I fell to our knees in relief, the girls started crying, and the guys let out the breath that they had all been holding. It was like an immense weight had been lifted. Later that night, we had all calmed down a bit, as Vanessa’s mom went to make us all tea. We waited as patiently as we could for Vanessa to wake. It felt like we had waited an ion when her eyes flew open.

I felt lost. I felt like darkness had completely consumed me. Images and memories flowed through, although most of them didn’t make any sense to me. They didn’t seem to be my own. The screaming. The agony. The fire that seemed to course through my veins. Then more familiar images came to me. My family. My friends. Dylan. Kayden. They all seemed so clear, almost as if I was living the moment all over again.

New sounds and senses seemed to take over me. I could hear low murmuring, and then the voices became louder, more distinct. I could hear the birds chirping, water dripping from the kitchen, Our neighbor puling into his driveway. I didn’t understand what was going on. Then the memories of today slammed into me and I let out a low groan. The ominous presence, the truck hitting me, Kai’s voice, Dylan and Kayden racing towards me, but what happened after that?

My eyes snapped open. Everything seemed so clear, so vivid. It was like I was seeing things for the very first time. A figure loomed over me blocking my view.

He laughed and started stroking my hair.

“Yes baby, I’m here.”

I smiled and cursed when I felt a pain in my bottom lip. I touched my mouth and felt a smudge of blood.

“What’s going on? What just happened?” I asked trying to sit up.

“What do you remember?” Dylan asked

“We were on our way to the lake house and... there was a leak in the tank..... The truck came right at me. Whoever was driving had the same aura as him.”

’Wait, who’s him” Dad asked handing me some tea

“Who the hell is that?” Kayden asked

“Was he that creepy guy that went with Bianca to the dance?” Kai asked

“So you felt it too?”

Kai nodded.

“Felt what?” Avery asked.

“The intent to kill.” Kai and I said in unison.

“Is there a chance he was working for Astrazia then?” Sadie asked my dad.

“I’m a hundred percent positive that he is.” My dad replied running a hand over his face.

“Astrazia?” I asked.

Dad gave me a sheepish smile. “I guess we should fill you in, huh?”

Twenty minutes later I was starting to get a headache.

“Okay, so basically an whole entire organization is out to kill me and steal my magic?”

“Pretty much.”

“Umm... there’s something you should know....” Kayden started out, his heartbeat accelerating.

“Why are you nervous? Your hearts beating so fast.”

The hell?!

“Why can I hear your heartbeat?”

Dylan drew in a deep breath ” That’s what we need to tell you.”

“You should be dead right now, Vanessa.”

“W-what? Then why-”

“Before your heartbeat stopped Dylan and I bit you.”

“While that’s kind of creepy, I don’t know what any of this has to do with me not being dead.”

Kayden narrowed his eyes at me. “One, we weren’t being creepy. Two, it has everything to do with it considering, I’m a vampire and he’s a werewolf.” he said jutting his thumb out at Dylan.

“No, not bullshit. Kai, can you make some room?”

Kai raised his hand and the furniture glided across the floor and against the wall.

“Kai!” I hissed.

What the hell was he thinking?!

“What? They already know.”

My jaw dropped when Dylan started stripping. I was torn between looking and covering my eyes.

Dylan smirked “You can look if you want.”

Dylan was now only covered by his snug looking black boxers.

“What are you doing?”

“Just watch.”

Suddenly Dylan’s body began to morph, and I his place was a black wolf with silk fur and striking green eyes. It was absolutely fascinating. Shit! He really was a were-wolf! I reached my hand out to pet him, and smiled when I was rewarded with a low purr.

“Your turn.” I said turning toward Kayden.

Kayden nodded and strode over to me until we were face to face. He paused to stare at me before smiling real big. I was confused until I saw them, fangs. I should probably be freaked out right now, but I was a witch, so I guess anything could happen at this point. I reached out and gently traced his lips and his now, sharpened teeth.

A drop of blood landed on his bottom lip. Kayden merely smiled before licking his lip and my finger. Honestly, instead of being grossed out that was oddly seductive.

“Okay, so let me get this straight. You’re a vampire and Dylan’s a were-wolf, correct?”

They both nodded, although I think that’s all Dylan could do in his current form.

“And you both bit me?” After a guilty pause they both nodded.

“So what happens to me?”

Dad sighed. “We don’t know, honey. We have to figure that out. For all we know you might not even be able to use magic anymore.”

My heartbeat sped up at the thought of not being able to use magic again.

Dad noticed my panic. “Why don’t you try a spell?”

"Luces da esencia"

Bright blues, radiant reds, and neon greens danced across my hand. I gently blew and watched them scatter swirling around my friends and family. I sighed in relief. I could still do magic!

“What’s going on? I feel kind of happy.” Ava said

“I feel it too. I kinda want to dance.” Sage said

“You definitely haven’t lost you magic.” Avery commented

I smiled and called the orbs of light back to me. Everyone watched in awe as they merged into me. Each color was apart of me- apart of my essence. I just wanted to give everybody a bit of happiness.

“Okay, so lets see if we can pull out a wolf, shall we?” Dylan said returning to his human, stark naked.

Chloe and Sadie let out wolf whistles while all the guys groaned.

“Man cover that up!”

Kai shook his head and zapped some clothes onto Dylan. And they were real clothes, not an illusion! I need to get him to teach me that!

“What usually gets you out of control?” Levi asks.

Dylan shrugged his shoulders “I guess the people we love being threatened.”

My dad heaved himself off of the couch.

“Okay lets see what I can do.”

My dad was deep in thought before he began mumbling under his breath, what I assume to be a spell. I was instantly consumed by darkness. Then an image appeared before me. My family, Leila, Dylan and Kayden with their family. They all wore happy, smiling faces that warmed my heart. I smiled as I watched them.

I startled as the image began to morph. Their bodies were all sprawled across the ground. Blood. Blood was everywhere. My heart caught in my chest. I couldn’t handle something happening to them. I tried running to them, but no matter how fast I ran, how far I pushed myself, they only seemed to get farther away.

Something sinister loomed over their lifeless bodies before giving me a toothy smile that left me shuddering. The figure smile only seemed to grow larger at the look of horror on my face. It began to shake uncontrollably and I didn’t know what to make of it until I realized that he was laughing. I was getting ready to yell, scream, make the figure understand y rage when he flicked his wrist, and everything went to flames.

I finally found my voice and cried out. The people I loved, they were all gone. Immense power came over me and I let out out a yell of fury, but it sounded more like garble howl. The image began to fade and I howled even louder, until I was thrown back into the living room.

“What the hell did you just show her.” Kayden asked

“Nothing. whatever she saw, was conjured by her own mind.” Dad replied.

My mom walked over to me a look of awe on her face. I cocked my head to the side in confusion, before I realized I must of shifted. Sadie whipped out her phone and took several pictures of me.

“You might wanna take a look at this.” She said showing me her phone.

My fur was pure white and my olive green eyes gleamed. And as conceited as it sounded, I looked beautiful. I finally turned to Dylan, he had been quiet this whole entire time, and I wasn’t sure what to make of his silence. Did he not like it? The thought made me whimper.

“No way!” He finallly gasped.

“What’s wrong?” Kayden asked

“Nothings wrong. It’s just that white wolfs are incredibly rare. White wolfs are said to be kissed by the moon.” Dylan replied still in awe.

Kayden frowned.

“Honestly, nothings wrong like he said. Dylan’s just in shock, it’s not everyday that your mate is blessed by the moon in such an extreme way.” Ava said.

Kayden reached out and began stroking my fur and i let out a content noise.

I felt my body slowly start to shift and sent Kai a pleading glance. Kai smiled and I felt the clothes materialize on my body.

“Thanks.” I said sending him a grateful smile.

Mason huffed “Man, I was looking forward to that!”

Chloe reached over Sage and smacked her brother.

“Stop being stupid.”

“Okay, that’s two down, Wanna try for three?” Kayden asked

“I’ll take care of this one.” Kai said kneeling in front of me.

He reached behind him and pulled out a pocket knife. I watched transfixed as he gently slid it across his wrist and held it out to me. The smell of his blood hit me and an undeniable thirst consumed me. He smelled so sweet. I cautiously stuck my tongue out before gripping his wrist and sucking. I moaned at the taste of rich cinnamon and delicate spice, that had my taste buds exploding. Kai shifted and I paused. I didn’t want to hurt him. I pulled away and licked both his wound nd my lips.

Kai smirked “How was it?”

“Delicious. You taste like cinnamon.”

Kai chuckled before kissing my forehead. He waved his hand over the wound, healing it.

“So, how does it feel?” Mason asked

“How does that feel?”

Mason smiled “Being a bad-ass hybrid.”

I laughed “Well I sure as hell don’t recommend it. The process hurts like a bitch!”

Everyone burst into fits of laughter, my mom came into the room and handed me a cup of hot chocolate. I was getting ready to thank her when she flicked my ear.

“Mama! What was that for?” I asked pouting

“For scaring the shit out of me!”

“Sorry, mama.” I said leaning into her

She smiled and kissed my forehead before returning to her spot next to my dad.

“Okay, I’m not going to pretend that everythings just going to go back to normal. From what I gather Astrazia is going to be pissed when they can't find my body. We also need to figure out who the hell ran me over.”

My dad smiled “That means we have a lot of work to do.”

Later that night Dylan and Kayden called their parents over to explain the situation to them. I was glad that I was finally getting to meet them, although the circumstances weren’t the best. Both families promised to help in any way possible. I was happy that everyone seemed to approve of me. Kayden’s mom told me to start out slow and gave me a couple of blood bags to keep my hunger under control.

The next day I woke up to Kai’s chanting.

“Woohoo! I’m the man!”

I slid out of bed and found Kai dancing in the middle of the living room. I raised my eyebrow in question.

“Is everything okay?”

“I found a spell that can help us figure out who ran you over!”

A minute or two later everyone else filed into the room.

“Man, why are you so loud?” Mason grumbled

“He said he found a spell that can help us find out who did this.” I said turning towards him,

Everyone seemed to perk up at this.

“That’s great!” Ava said and I turned back to Kai.

“What do I need to do?”

Kai shook his head. “Just take a seat.”

I took a seat on out leather black couch and watched as Kai placed his hand on my forehead.

"Con este poder meu, a ese tempo, imos ver o que os meus ollos dela non consequiu.”

Our world seemed to ripple as we were thrown into another plane. We both landed with hard thumps.

“Tch. that hurt more than I thought it would.” Kai said rubbing his back.

It was as if someone had pressed rewind and play. I watched Kayden and Dylan bantering, me trying to calm them down, seeing how that had little to no effect, as they snapped at me. I watched myself walk to the other side of the rode.

Kai nudged me and we followed. Once we were in position, we faced the direction that the truck was coming from.

“When the truck comes don’t move.”

“What?” I asked. I wasn’t really into getting ran over for a second time.

“It can’t hurt us, don’t worry.”

I nodded and the truck finally came into view, steadily increasing its speed. Just as I thought the truck was going to hit us, Kai snapped his fingers. Everything thing stopped. I breathed on a sigh of relief.

“Well, isn’t that a nifty trick.”

Kai smiled at me as we made our way to the truck. My eyes widened at what I saw.

“That fucking bitch! I knew she hated me but I didn’t think the fucker would try to kill me!”

“So Zion really is with Astrazia.” Kai confirmed.

“I’m not too surprised with him, though. His aura is something wicked.”

I let out a low curse. I was going to kill her!

“Ready to go back or do you want to listen to their conversation?” Kai asked

“Nah. This is enough.”

When I opened my eyes everyone was croweding around Kai and I.

“Did it work?”

“Well, I know who I’m going to kill first.”

I know Zion told me to lay low but I had to see Emmett. I was still pissed at gim, but I couldn’t help but miss being in his arms. Plus I knew he’d be heart broken by Vanessa’s death. I could comfort and snatch him away at the same time.

I made my way to Emmett’s house and was surprised to see the door opened ajar. I slowly opened the door before ealking in. The house was a complete lete mess, trash was thrown carelessly along the floor.

“Emmett?” I called out.

I climbed the stairs, two at a time almost afraid of what I might see. I peeked into Emmett’s just as he was coming out of the bathroom, his towel fitting loosely around his waist. At least he was still taking care of his hygiene. I watched quietly as he put his hands into his face. It hurt to see him in this kind of state.

“Emmett, baby?”

I called out softly. His head instantly snapped up in my direction.

“Bianca? What are you doing here?”

“I came to see how you were doing. I know this has been hard on you.”

Emmett narrowed his eyes at me.

“What are you talking about?”

My eyes widened in realization.

“Oh God! You don’t know!”

Emmett’s eyebrow lifted.

“What don’t I know?”

“Oh baby, I’m so sorry!” I said wrapping my arms around him.

Emmett leaned back to look at me.

“What’s going on? What don’t I know? You're not telling me anything!”

“It’s Vanessa.” I said allowing my voice to crack.
I ground my teeth together when he suddenly became alert.

“What about her?”

I snapped out of my irritated thoughts and whispered

“She’s dead.”

Emmett’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“I’m surprised you haven’t heard. It was a terrible car crash.”

“No! No this can't be happening!”

“You’re fucking pathetic, you know that?”

My blood ran cold at whose voice it was.
