Christian ran a hand over his face before throwing his hands in the air.
“Who’s not coming?!”
I tilted my head in confusion.
“Okay, you need to take a deep breath and explain what the hell is going on.”
“Witches, Vampires, and Werewolves, they are all coming. I don’t know how, but rumors about Vanessa being a hybrid is spreading like wildfire. Whether they’re a threat or not I don’t know.”
I clenched my jaw.
“We need to prepare. Wake Alexander and Arianna.”
“What’s so important that you have to wake Kayden’s parents?”
I heard my little girl ask and turned around.
“Baby, why don’t you go back to sleep.”
“No. Vampire and Werewolf hearing, here,” Vanessa said pointing to herself.
“If you want to keep stuff from me you’re going to have to try harder than that.”
I was about to respond when I was interrupted.
“What are you guys doing up there?” Arianna called out.
“Perfect timing,” Rebecca said
Alexander raised an eyebrow. “Mind filling us in?”
“Took the words right out of my mouth,” Dylan said, Kellan right behind him.
Knowing how stubborn the kids were I sighed.
“Let’s take this downstairs.”
Once everyone was seated Vanessa wasted no time shooting off questions.
“Who exactly is coming?”
I looked at Chris and he cleared his throat.
“Vampires, Werewolves, and Witches.”
“Do they pose a threat?”
“I don’t know.”
Vanessa took a deep breath.
“Then we need to keep our mind and bodies sharp. Until then, got to work, school, live normally.”
She couldn’t be serious.
“You’re not going to school.”
“What do you mean, why? I almost lost you! We almost lost you! You heard Chris, He said thousands. What if one of them corners you?”
“I’ll be fine. The guys will be with me.”
Why couldn’t she see what a bad idea this was? Anger rose within me. I would not lose my daughter.
“And they were with you the day you died!”
I felt bad when I saw the boys flinch and look down.
“I refuse to live in hiding! Why should my life have to stop?!”
My gaze softened. Hybrid or not, she was still just my little girl.
“I know it’s not fair, but-”
“Could I interrupt for a bit?” Ava said cutting me off.
I motioned for her to continue.
“I think we all know that the boys royally fucked up, and I do mean royally.”
I smirked as the boys glared at her.
“But they won’t be the only ones with her. We all love her as much as they do and we’ll protect her in any way we can.”
I sighed. “Fine. I won’t keep you, hostage, here, but I want someone with my baby girl at all times. Do you understand.”
Vanessa rolled her eyes and smiled as everyone nodded in unison.
“Chris, let me see you for a bit.” he nodded and followed me into the kitchen.
“I think we need to take some safety measures.”
Monday morning came and I was already annoyed. I could barely go to the bathroom on my own. The bathroom! And it only got worse at school! I sighed when the bell rang and it was finally time for lunch. At least the day was going by pretty fast. Tony came up behind me and put his arm around my shoulder.
I smiled. “Starving.”
“So....” I dragged out.
“You do know waiting outside my classroom and pretending you weren’t just doing so is unnecessary, right?”
Tony chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck.
“I was trying to make it less weird.”
I shook my head and giggled.
“I’m surprised the boys didn’t try to fight over who took me to lunch.”
“Oh, they did. I almost lost an arm.” Tony sniffed
“Shows how much I care.”
I laughed as we finally reached the cafeteria.
“Aww, thanks for caring enough to fight me,” I said kissing his cheek.
“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
I nodded now feeling the glare of my two mates.
“You’re evil.” Tony chuckled and dragged me to our table.
Dylan glared. “Well don’t you two seem friendly.”
“Too friendly.” Kayden chimed in.
Tony simply shrugged before taking half of Rafe’s sandwich. Rafe tilted his head in Tony’s direction.
“Have you lost your mind?”
“Give me back my sandwich!”
“Then go get your own food!”
Tony huffed and glanced at me.
“How come you get your lunch brought for and to you?”
“Because she’s loved,” Dylan responds
Tony pouts. “How can you say that to me, your own brother.”
I giggle. “Aww, I love you, Tony,” I say pecking his cheek.
Tony smirks and sticks his tongue out at Dylan.
“Looks like I don’t need your love, brother.”
Dylan smiled. “Do you want me to rearrange your face?”
Tony got up with a huff. “Why is everyone mean to me?” he mumbled before heading to the lunch line.
The whole table laughed before returning to their meals. Even though I had to deal with everyone’s hovering and worrying, it turned out to be a pretty good day.
As soon as the kids left Chris and I went to work on creating protective seals and barriers all around the house. We probably had more than enough, but I still wanted to invoke one last spell. Chris glanced at me and I nodded before we began reciting the incantation.
“Destuir todos os que tenen malas imtencions.”
“Do you think it will keep them out?”
I shrugged. “As long as they don’t have a witch on par with us, we should be good.”
Chris nodded. “I have a few errands to run. I’ll be back later.”
“As long as you’re back before dinner. You know Rebecca will have a fit if you’re not.”
Chris smiled. “Even just as a human, your wife is someone to be feared.”
I chuckled. “I know that all too well.”
