Chapter 7

It was lunchtime, and I was enjoying the feel of Bianca’s lips on mine when I looked up and saw Vanessa. She was walking away from Dylan’s table, maybe she realized what a douche he is. Before she could leave, Dylan catches her arm and shakes his head, bringing her into his lap, causing me to turn red with anger.

“What’s the matter, babe?” Bianca asked, still nibbling on my neck.

“Nothing sweetheart,” I say, returning my gaze back to Vanessa.

I hate that he’s the one holding her, that he’s the one getting her affection. I was Trying to make Vanessa jealous earlier didn’t even seem worth it, anymore. I don’t even know what the hell my problem was. I hurt her. She should be pissed at me but that didn’t mean I was okay with Dylan having her. By now I’ve pushed Bianca entirely off of me, causing her to yelp in pain when her butt hit the hard bench.

“Emmett.” She whines, dragging my name out.

“Sorry,” I say quickly getting up from the table.

“Where are you going?”

“To get some fresh air,” I say desperately trying to get away from her.

“Oh, I’ll come with you.”

“No, that’s okay,” I say quickly and watch as she starts to pout.

Usually, I found that incredibly sexy, but now I’m just annoyed.

I blushed a deep red when Rafe slipped me onto his lap. I’ve had a crush on him for over a year now, but I was always too scared to go up to talk to him. I’ve never been scared to speak to a boy before, but Rafe has that whole scary bad boy thing going for him, and truthfully he scares the shit out of me sometimes. I almost jumped when I felt his breath near my ear.

“How come we’ve never talked before?” he asked.

He nodded and placed his head in the crook of my shoulder.

“I was scared to talk to you,” I said blushing again.

Which only made him laugh.

“I don’t know. I mean- I do... you just have that ‘Don’t approach me, unless you wanna get your ass kicked’ look.”

And of course, that only made him laugh even more.

“Okay, now wait a minute. How come you never came to talk to me?” I asked.

He shrugged.

“You didn’t seem interested in me, or my ‘scary bad boy look.’” he said teasingly.

“Well, how about we get to know each other better?” he asked, grazing his lips against my cheek.

Did he really think I could say no?

“Yeah, I’d like that,” I said, smiling at him and the smile he gave me in return had my heart melting.

Vanessa’s Pov.

After school, I rushed home, excited to see Dylan later on. When I got upstairs to my room, I stripped and took a shower. When I got out, I realized I forgot to bring a change of clothes and walked into my room with my towel wrapped around my body.

“I swear you get prettier every time I see you.” A familiar voice said.

“Damn it, Emmett! The hell is wrong with you?”

Emmett got up from my bed and walked over to until his body grazed mine.

“I missed you. ”

“Emmett, stop,” I said, trying to move away, but he paid no attention to me.

Emmett wrapped his arms around my waist and trailed kisses down my neck.

“You can’t tell me that you haven’t missed me.”

I shoved Emmett away. “No, I haven’t missed you, you asshole. I miss my fucking boyfriend that I thought loved me, though.”

“I do love you! I’ve always loved you!”

“You have one hell of a way of showing it, then.”

Emmett sighed. “I’ve made mistakes. I know that, but are you really going throw away two years over it?”

“Mistakes that I don’t think I can forgive! You should have thought about all of this before you slept with her!”

Then Emmett snapped.

“This is because of Alvarez isn’t?”

“Dylan has nothing to do with this, Emmett. What did you expect? That you would just sleep with her and I’d tell you that everything was alright?!” I say, raising my voice.

“I didn’t think you’d doubt the love I have for you!”

“What fucking world do live in?! What am I supposed to think, Emmett?” I exploded.

I took a deep breathe. “Okay, let’s reverse this then. What if I had been sleeping with Dylan behind your back?”

Emmett clenched his jaw. “That’s bullshit and you know it.”

I crossed my arms. “Answer me. How would that make you feel?”

Emmett threw his hands up and glared at me. “It would piss me off!” Emmett bit out.

“Exactly, and would you have stayed with me? Would you have forgiven me?”

“Of course I-”

“You didn’t even think about it! ”

Emmett stops and takes a seat on my bed, so I decide to put on blue shorts and a tank top. After a couple minutes of awkward silence, I sat on the edge of my bed, causing Emmett to sigh.

“So that’s it? We’re done?”

“I don’t have any faith in you right now. I don’t deserve this shit and you know it.”

“I know you don’t deserve it. Trust me, I know.”

“To answer your question, I’m done.”

I felt my heart ache when Emmett’s face fell. As much as I loved him I wasn’t going to stay with him just to chase what we use to have. I didn’t think that this was something that we could come back from.

I threw on a jacket and some shoes.

“Come on.”

“Where are we going?” Emmett asked.

“You, are going home. I’m going out.”

Emmett narrowed his eyes at me.

“You’re going to see him aren’t you.”

“What does it matter, Emmett? Shouldn’t you be fucking Bianca somewhere? I’m not your problem anymore. Now get up and get out.”

Emmett stared at me in disbelief before storming past me and out the house.

I sighed and texted Dylan to see if I could come over. He replied and sent me his address a few minutes later. When I arrived at his house, I was astonished. He lived in a fucking mansion. I walked up to the intimidating gate and pressed the intercom button. Dylan’s face instantly appeared with his gorgeous smile and buzzed me in.

Dylan met me at the door and pulled me into a bone-crushing hug.

“How are you?”

“Can’t..... Breathe.”

“Sorry.” He chuckled.

“And to answer your question, I feel like shit.”

“What happened?” Dylan asked, leading me to the couch.

“I broke up with my asshole of a boyfriend.” I deadpanned

“Oh, really?”

Dylan asked, trying hard not to smile.

“You might as well just smile,” I said, shaking my head.

Dylan laughed and nudged my shoulder

“It’s no secret that I don’t like your boyfriend.”

“Ex-boyfriend.” I corrected

“I believe I owe you some ice cream,” Dylan said grabbing his keys

“This is true. I think I should get two extra scoops of ice cream.”

Dylan laughed

“Why two?”

“One because you made me wait so long for it and the second one just because I’m awesome.”

Dylan laughed, and then we were on our way to ice cream.
