CHAPTER 29: TEARS
“Elizabeth, from what you told me, there could be a possibility of a pregnancy and just to be sure, I would suggest you to get a urine test and a blood test done. As you know, some pregnancy tests are not always accurate, especially at early stages.” Dr. Fuller said as she peered at me through her glasses and gave me a warm smile.
I nodded and grimaced in return as I tried to smile back, slightly shaking as Reid squeezed my hand that sat in his lap.
“Thank you doctor.” Reid said with a smile, getting up, his hand wrapping around my waist when I stood up myself.
Dr. Fuller rose to her feet in front of us.
“No problem. I’ll ask Matthew to conduct your tests. You can wait for a few minutes at the reception for the results for the urine test and I will give you a call for the blood test by tomorrow.”
“Thanks again.” I replied back in slight shock, still not being able to take in her words.
I kicked off my shoes as soon as we entered the apartment, and flung myself onto the sofa.
Reid stood over my quiet form and rolled his eyes dramatically before bending down to pick me up bridal style.
“Why don’t you get some rest properly while I make some of that soup I promised earlier?”
I hummed in satisfaction at the thought and nonchalantly lifted my head to gaze up at him in thought. “Sounds good to me.”
He cheekily smiled at me as he laid me on the well made bed and lifted the covers to tuck me in before placing his lips on mine for a quick chaste kiss that left me unsatisfied but managed to get a moan out of me.
I turned to my side, my eyes following his retreating form as I slowly reached inside my pocket to grab my phone.
I quickly switched it on, regretting doing so almost instantly as a dozen messages started flooding before my eyes and my phone lighted up with a few another dozen missed calls from Becca and my mother and shockingly, one from even Henry.
I sent them all a quick text, assuring them that I was not dead and was actually quite alive. As soon as I sent it, my phone started buzzing and I hesitantly answered Becca’s call, knowing that she was going to scold me.
“What the fuck Liz?! Where are you?”
“Jeez mom, why don’t you relax for a minute there?” I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
“Elizabeth Baker, you have been missing since the past three days! I was worried sick about you-”
“I’m fine Becca, I’m at Reid’s.” I muttered as slowly as I heard someone mutter something in the background.
“No milk.” I heard her muffled reply before she cleared her throat.
“Who was that?” I asked, curiosity getting the best of me.
“Um...Nathan.” A smirk slowly made it’s way onto my lips. Those two were going to last. A guy as disciplined as Nathan could only tame a beast like Becca.
“Don’t even start Elizabeth.” She groaned into the phone, knowing what was to come out of my mouth next, “It’s not like you don’t know how addictive a good fuck buddy can be.”
“Fuck buddies, huh? We’ll see how long that lasts.” I muttered under my breath, waiting for her to explode any second and consume me whole.
“Stop distracting me for God’s sake and tell me what’s going on? You mother called me a thousand times to ask me where the heck had you disappeared to.”
“I um...I just- it’s nothing. You know, she just over reacts a bit.” A lot. Someone needs to give the damn woman a fucking chill pill.
“Stop lying Liz. I always know when you are hiding something.” I bit my lip in anticipation.
“Fine.” Here goes nothing. ”I...I am pregnant.” I quickly managed to get out, turning my head to the door to make sure Reid was not around as I remembered the result of the urine test at Dr. Fuller’s.
“Oh my fucking gosh!”
“I don’t know what to do about it. It’s way too early for- any of this.” I whisper yelled in a hurry, biting my nails to keep me calm as I curled up in a ball, my free hand hesitantly traced my lower stomach in thought.
“I’m going to have to agree on that...I mean I’m happy for you and all but Liz, a kid?" There was no doubt about the fact that Becca was allergic to kids. She had hated kids for as long as I could recall. Suffice to say, baby sitting was surely not her first job as a teenager.
“I don’t even know what Reid thinks of this. He is putting on a brave face right now but I honestly don’t know what’s going on in his head. I don’t think-I don’t know whether he even wants this child...” I trailed off, not knowing where to finish.
“Don’t worry about him, I bet he is-” She started off, trying to calm me. Tears welled up in my eyes and I pursed my lips, trying to hold them back. When did I become such a weakling?
The phone was snatched from my hand all of a sudden and I sat up in an instant, my head banging against a hard chest.
I saw Reid end the call, a frown taking over his storming face. I felt the anger and frustration seep out of him in waves, making me shiver slightly.
“Is that what you think of me, Elizabeth?” He growled at me.
“Do you actually think that I wouldn’t want my own child, my own flesh and blood?”
“No.. uh, I-I-”
“How many times do I fucking have to tell you that I want this child?” My eyes widened further as he proceeded to grab both my wrists in his one hand and pushed them above my head, pushing them painfully into the wall over the headrest as he caged me in his hold.
“Why don’t you believe me?” He whispered near my ear, kissing my cheek before pushing my hair out of the way with his spare hand, biting my neck. I let out a whimper through my mouth, gasping at the feeling of his teeth grazing my skin.
“I do. I do believe you.” I muttered way too quickly.
As soon as I felt the words escape my lips, I felt his hand trailing down to the front of my jeans, and heard the unmistakable sound of my button being popped open and soon, my jeans came trailing down my legs.
He pushed me back on the bed, shoving my legs open. His lips trailed all the way up to my thighs, leaving chaste kisses everywhere. I trembled under his touch as he bit a sensitive spot on my thigh, making sure that he would leave a mark on my skin. I felt the pool of wetness between my legs increase with anticipation but he made sure not to cater to my growing need. My clitoris throbbed almost painfully as he still focused on my thighs.
I pushed my hand between the soft tangled mess on his head but he pushed my hands away as they slowly started trailing down his broad shoulders, “No. Stop that.”
I frowned, confused but before I could get a chance to think, I was distracted to reduce the growing hunger between my thighs as I tried to create friction between my legs, he silently reached for the nightstand without gaining my attention all the while he left another mark on the side of my neck.
He produced something out of the nightstand, the silver glint slightly catching my attention that was mostly caught up on moving my mouth with his but I only reacted when I heard a soft click.
He had handcuffed my hands to the damn bed!
“What are you doing, Reid?!” I asked with a struggle, my legs kicking at him to get off me and give me answers.
“I will only release you once you know how I truly feel about this child and you being the mother of my children, Elizabeth.”
A raspy breadth escaped my mouth and I shivered slightly, caught up in the tender way his eyes were looking at me. My chest heaved up and down under his burning gaze.
His hands came up to the neck of my grey t-shirt, his eyes never for a second leaving mine, he gripped it tightly in his hands and with a fast tug tore it apart, making me gasp loudly as the ripping sound reached my ears.
My milky breasts spilled out immediately as he pushed my plain cream bra downwards. The underwire digged into my skin painfully and he was very well aware of that. Pleased with the view, he leaned back and got up from the bed.
“I’m going to check up on that soup.” He muttered, his eyes burning holes in my body like he had never seen anything more beautiful than the plain sight of me lying naked and bound on his bed in his life before and his rock hard erection creating a massive buldge in his trousers seemed to agree but as he turned around and his retreating back glared at me, I damn well knew that it was going to be a long day.
I stepped up on to the porch under the night sky, my arms wrapping around my frame as a cool gust of wind scattered my loose hair across my face, making me shiver.
I nervously tapped my foot against the pavement, unconsciously chewing on my fingernails as I waited for Reid to park his car and catch up with me.
A moment later, he joined me, his hand resting on the small of my back, burning my skin through the thick material of my overcoat.
“Hey, come on...” He whispered, kissing my cheek and grabbing my hand from the front of my face. He gave me a little reassuring smile while pressing the door bell to the Parker mansion. I tried smiling back in return but failed. Right now, I needed all the reassurance I could get as I recalled our conversation earlier on his bed where he had convinced me that it was time.
It was time to face the music.
A few seconds later, the door was opened by Linda who looked slightly off and gave us both a tight smile and halfheartedly greeted us, her usual cheerful eyes not meeting ours.
A frown formed on my face, sensing something was wrong and Reid was soon to follow as his hand tightened around mine as a reflex.
“What happened Linda?” He asked with a bit of concern, taking a step further into the house.
“I-I-sir, I think I am in no position to answer that. Ms. Baker, you should see your mother, she has been waiting for you to come home. She is in her room.” I nodded my head at her and separated my hand from Reid, moving past him.
He followed me close as I made my way to my mother and Henry’s room. I knocked on the door, waiting for a reply.
“Mom, are you there?”
When I didn’t get a response, I twisted the door knob and opened the door.
My eyes scanned for her, finding her sitting in the corner of the room, her head in her hands.
“Mom...?” My voice came out as a whisper, gasping at her teary face when she looked up at me.
Her face was blotchy and her eyes were bloodshot red. “Elizabeth?” She croaked, her voice cracking and that’s when I suddenly took notice of the condition of the room.
Everything was turned upside down, a vase lay broken on the floor in front of her and few books lay scattered in front of my feet that I stepped over to move closer to her.
“What happened mom?” I asked as I silently approached her, scared of what her answer was going to be.
“Elizabeth-” She gasped, tears rolling down her face as she struggled to speak. I ran towards her and wrapped my arms around her, my head rested on top of hers, cradling her face while she cried in my chest and mumbled, “he-he...Henry, he-”
