CHAPTER 5: ABSURD DEALS

I pushed the sheet towards my neck, covering my breasts.

“Uh..What do you want?” I asked him with embarrassment, silently hoping that I had not taken off my bra last night and flung it on the floor where his gaze was fixed at right now.

He looked up with an unamused expression, “Like I said earlier, I wanted to talk.”

“Okay.” I nodded for him to go ahead.

“Stop your mother from marrying my father.”

“What?”

“You heard what I said. Stop her for her own good. I know my father.”

“Are you joking? I can’t do that. She is my mom... And can’t you see that they both love each other?”

His face hardened if that was even possible. “I’ll pay you.”

An empty laugh escaped my lips, “You’ll pay me for breaking my mother’s heart? I would never do that and for money? Are you out of your mind?” My words were full of anger and I stood up to my full length in front of him, still several inches shorter than him.

“I’ll give you whatever you want. Just take your mother and yourself out of here.” He said, still willing to make the absurd deal.

My chest tightened and my fists clenched together in anger.
“I said I am not interested in doing anything like that. I don’t need your money and neither can you change my mind in any way.”

“It’s for your mother’s own good-”

My hand came up to slap him across his face but he caught it.

“You are making a mistake.” The son of a bachelor said.

“I am not. I know what I am doing so shut up!” My other hand came to punch him in his torso region but I only hit something hard and he didn’t even flinch.

Bloody rock hard abs.

“Get out of my room.”

He dropped my hand from his tight grip.

“You are going to regret this, doll face.” He came closer to my ear, his cold minty breath fanning against my ear. He kissed my cheek lightly and left me alone.

I climbed down the stairs with a sour look on my face. It had been 3 hours since I had that little blood boiling chat with Reid.

My face lost its color as soon as I made way into the living room to see him sitting with Henry and my mom and chatting with a smile on his face.

Wait, a freaking smile.

I had to be dreaming.

I pinched myself to confirm that I was not dreaming.

“Elizabeth! You won’t believe what happened.” My mom said in excitement.

“What happened, mom?”

“Reid has planned a family cruise for all four of us.”

My jaw dropped and my eyebrows raised.

Is this his some weird messed up plan? Maybe he’ll throw me and my mom into the ocean.

“A cruise? But isn’t your wedding in three days? How will we go?”

“Oh silly! It’s for after the wedding, our honeymoon.”

I swallowed hard. “Don’t you think for your honeymoon, only you and Henry should go? What will I even do there? Plus I have a few interviews for a few jobs coming up.”

“Loosen up a little. We’ll be back soon and I know your interviews are not till next month. The trip will be like bonding time for all four of us. ”

My eyes shifted to Reid who was smirking like a devil.

“Mother, I still don’t think it’s a good idea. I can’t miss my internship that is going on.”

“Please Lizzy, come for my sake.”

“Alright, I guess.” I said in agreement.

How bad could it be?

I looked at Reid and the look of satisfaction on his face confirmed that it could be bad, really bad.
