Casa Mihiri (Mihiri Gedara)

The charity “Amici di Casa Mihiri” was established in 2001 to promote the efforts of the founder of Casa Mihiri, Lorenzo Bacci. The primary aim of this establishment is to help young girls between the ages of 7 months and 17 years who have either been orphaned or have been removed from their families following trauma, abuse and ill-treatment.

The project is aimed at helping the young guests with their emotional and physical recovery, as well as ensuring their continuing education in a safe, healthy and loving environment.

The current structure can house a maximum of 28 girls, but many more need our help.

The charity is also carrying out many more side projects:

Training courses for local families with little or no income, to help them on their way to independence and self-sustainability.

Donation of small homes to needy families, most of which are only made up of mother and children

Long distance adoption/child sponsorship.

Professional training for local women to help them to find employment.

Education and awareness of personal rights, and helping women to condemn and report abuse

The aim is to reduce the violence and poverty so endemic in the local society.
