To the outside world, they look like the perfect couple. But behind close doors, it was a different story altogether. 'Her Redemption' is a romantic fiction set in modern day New York, following the life and marriage of AJ Sterling and Lucas Dominique Valiente—rivals by business. Their marriage was a pure business deal among themselves in hopes to end the cut-throat rivalry between their companies. Lucas, CEO of Valiente Group of Industries, always thought he would get a simple-minded wife, one he can control, one who bends to his every need . . . the exact opposite of AJ, bred to be an entrepreneur, a world-class industrialist, master in business administration, with no mercy and no regrets. Twenty-seven years later, she has achieved more than any person could even dream of. She knows exactly what type of man Lucas is, and she would rather die than give up the power she has spent her whole life building. But with no other family left, she must not only learn to work with Lucas, but the whole Valiente family. The demons of the past are evolving, and with rival entrepreneurs trying to drag them down, AJ and Lucas will have to figure out how to work as one to take down those who stand in their way, all while keeping up appearances.

Oh, Holy Night, the stars are brightly shining.
It is the night of our dear Saviour’s birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.

The scene couldn’t have been called anything but gruesome. The little girl sat by her bleeding mother’s side with tears flowing down her cheeks.

The Christmas feeling from around them was no more present. All the girl could think of was the knife lodged in her mother’s stomach and the blood on her hands. They were in the powder room near the church. The choir was singing Christmas Carols in perfect harmony.

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices.
For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn.

‘Please, don’t leave me and go,’ the eight-year old signed in a hurry.

‘Promise me one thing, Lexi. Don’t ever leave your brother alone. Take care of him for me. Take care of your father for me.’ The mother signed back with the last strength in her. The light in her eyes was dwindling slowly, diminishing with each word she signed. There was no sign that the bleeding would stop.

Fall on your knees
Oh, hear, the angels’ voices
Oh, night divine.

‘Promise me, Lexi.’ She requested her daughter, wiping off the tears on Lexi’s cheeks.

Lexi wanted her mother there with her always. But it didn’t look like that would happen. Even though she was just eight years old, she knew how cruel the world could be. So, she promised her mother. ‘I promise I will take care of them.’

Oh, night, when Christ was born
Oh, night divine
Oh, night
Oh, night divine

Upon hearing the promise, her mother’s hand fell from her cheek as if it had lost its life. She looked at her mother and sobbed harder.

The old woman standing there watched the scene enfold with a sadistic smile on her face. She had enjoyed every bit of that show. ‘See you soon, Darling,’ she called out to the little girl even though she knew that Lexi would not hear her.

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices.
For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn.

That Christmas morning was the most glorious time of her life for the old woman. She stepped out of the powder room and called the police force and the ambulance.

When they arrived with the flashing blue and red lights of the sirens, she had her favourite boy in her arms.

Lexi had been still inside the room sobbing over her mother’s dead body.

Fall on your knees
Oh, hear, the angels’ voices
Oh, night, when Christ was born Oh, night divine
Oh, night
Oh, night divine
Oh, night divine

The paramedics placed Lexi’s mother on the gurney after forcing Lexi away from her body. The police officers after questioning the old woman, who looked as though she was grieving, took the sobbing Lexi with them for the murder of her mother.
