I feel like everyone could see there is something different about me. Did I look different? I certainly feel different.
I'm so glad I didn't do it with anyone else. Cal was perfect, in every way. He took his time, continually asking me if I was ok throughout. I have never felt yearning like it before; I almost got angry with how slow he was making us go. But then he took it to a different level entirely, and I felt as though those final moments were out of this world. If I thought I wanted him before, it was nothing compared to the way I felt for him now.
I lean on my side and smile at him, unable to deal with how delicious he looks first thing in the morning.
"I don't suppose we can do more of that...." I whisper coyly, as he looks over at me.
"Come here," he commands, pulling me close to him. "I fucking adore you."
I pull the duvet up to my chin, snuggling closer to him.
"I don't ever want to go home," I murmur, burying my face into his neck, inhaling the delicious scent of his aftershave. He sits up, looking down at me.
"Finish school first, then we will be together. Properly."
I gaze up at him, speechless.
"Are you serious?"
"You make me want to be a better person Gretchen. You make me wish I could rewind my life and do things differently."
He rubs his head and seemed to be lost in thought.
"Rewind your life how?" I ask, my fingers trailing down his chest.
"I've done some unsavoury things babe, with some pretty nasty people. I would never want you to get involved with any of that, ever."
He seems angry, his jaw clenches and his eyes narrow. I feel scared, not of him; but of what he had done. I sit up, pulling the duvet around me for modesty, my dark curls spilling over my shoulder.
"Do you want to tell me about it?"
"Not today. Today has been pretty strange as it is. But we just made it spectacular didn't we?"
I blush and hold his gaze.
"Yeah we did."
I reach over, grabbing my phone out of my bag to see I had received a text from my Mom asking me what time I was due home. I groan and Cal looks at me with exasperation.
"No it's cool, just my mom wanting me home soon."
He laces his fingers through mine.
"Until tomorrow then?" he whispers softly.
I dress quickly, still feeling odd about him seeing me completely naked. He watches me as I slide my jeans back on, whilst I stare at his tanned body, remembering my legs wrapped around it less than ten minutes earlier. He catches me staring, chuckling softly.
"Do you want me to walk you home like this or shall I get dressed fully?"
He winks at me and I giggle in response.
'You might cause quite a stir walking around like that."
He walks over to me, kissing me slowly. It feels different; more intense, more passion.
"I really don't want you to go." he mutters into my hair. 'How long we got left of school again?"
I meet his gaze and I bite my lip.
"Don't keep biting those lips, Raven. Its my job."
My heart thuds in my chest.
"You don't have to walk me home you know," I point out half heartedly.
He doesn't respond other than to roll his eyes at me. We make our way downstairs and thankfully I find no one is in. I had an image of his mother glaring at me like she knew what we had done. To be fair, if anyone was in, surely they would have heard it, I smirk to myself. Cal holds my hand the entire walk home, waiting at the end of the drive until I blew him a kiss from the front door, closing it behind me. I lean against the door and breathe in the delicious smell of beef casserole.
something smells good."
I drop my bag down on the stairs before walked into the kitchen, where my Mom stands over the stove, stirring a large pot. She looks up at me with a wide smile, wiping her hands on a towel as she turns to me.
"Hey stranger! I feel like I barely see you these days. Where have you been?"
I'm convinced she will look at me and just know what I've been doing, but she waits patiently for me to answer. She picks up a spoon and tests the food, before adding more salt.
"I've been with Cal, studying remember?''
Mom puts down the spoon, looking over at me with interest.
"So, this Cal..."
She raises her eyebrows, clearly wanting me to elaborate. I couldn't stop smiling, before I begin gushing like a love struck canary.
"He's really nice Mom, he's new in town. They don't live far from us."
She nods, before speaking quietly.
"I see. Does this Cal have anything to do with you falling out of love with Luke?"
I flush beneath her gaze and stare at the floor guiltily.
"Um, maybe a little..." my voice trails off as she wipes the kitchen sides down, before frowning at me.
"Are we going to get to meet Cal?"
I roll my eyes and head towards the stairs, calling out behind me dismissively.
"Yeah of course, I'm not sure when though. I'm just going to shower."
I grin to myself, pulling my phone out to find a text from Rosie.
The Rink, tomorrow night, girls ONLY.X
I text her back happily.
Yes, thank you! Just what I needed. Hope you are ok, lots to tell you... ;)
She immediately replied with;
OMG- you didn't!
I laugh to myself, skipping into the bathroom to have a shower.
Cal met me for school the next morning, and I can't help but smile at him when I see him leaning against his car waiting for me.
His face looked a bit better, it was still swollen, but not as bad as it was yesterday.
I kiss him softly, which he responds to urgently, his hands sliding into the back pockets of my jeans to pull me closer to him.
"Morning baby," he whispers, resting his forehead on mine.
"We could walk you know, its not far," I point out as he makes a face at me.
"But this way we get to make out more before school, no?"
I can't argue with that logic, so I climb into the car happily.
"What are you smiling about?" he asks gruffly as I notice he doesn't have his belt on.
"Nothing. You need your seatbelt on," I point out, as he laughs. We reach school and as I went to get out he put his hand on my arm.
"Baby I am not going in today. I've got some things to take care of. I will pick you up after and take you home. Will you be ok in there?"
His eyes search mine as I groan.
"Cal, you can't keep skipping school."
He rolls his eyes before tilting my head to his.
"Listen beautiful. You don't need to worry about me, just focus on yourself."
I glare at him. "But what are you going to do when its time to find a job Cal? You need to pass-"
He looks at me with amusement, kissing my lips softly as I feel myself relent.
"Are we having our first argument?"
I smile against his lips.
I kiss him intensely before I drag myself off to class, aware he was watching me appreciatively.
I put my arm through Rosies as I sigh happily.
"You seem very happy indeed," she winks at me. "How do you feel?"
I lean back and pout, unable to hide my euphoria.
"Like a woman," I purr playfully, as she laughs.
"So, where is he today?"
I bite my lip avoiding her knowing stare.
"He has some things to take care of..."
Rosie rolls her eyes with disbelief. "He's cutting school again? Attractive."
I nod sadly.
"I know, its shitty. But you can't help who you fall in love with."
She turns her head to scrutinise me, her jaw dropping as she gasps.
I stop at my class, cheeks burning as I giggle. Id barely admitted as much to myself, but I had to be honest. I was definitely falling in love with Cal.
Rosie looks past me then, mouthing at me to 'turn around' before walking away to her class.
I turn to see Luke walking towards me, followed by Finn. Finn ran past me to catch up with Rosie, and I brace myself for more verbal abuse from Luke.
Luke stuffs his hands in his pockets, as I stand perfectly still, waiting for him to speak.
"I need to talk to you. Its not about us or anything like that," he adds quickly.
I fold my arms.
"Right. So go."
He fixes his blue eyes on mine, and I realise he wants to speak privately.
"Not here. After class, meet me near the bleachers. Please?"
I walk past him into class, muttering that I would meet him after class. He smiles to himself before walking away.
The bell rings out for the end of school and I check my phone to see if I'd heard from Cal, but find nothing. I text Rosie to tell her I was going to meet Luke- and that he wanted to talk.
I push through the doors with a heavy sigh, before heading to the bleachers.
I see a couple kissing pretty heavily close to the bleachers, and I try not to stand too close to them.
Where the fuck was he? I check my phone again, deciding to leave when the couple to my right broke apart. I'm not surprised to see it was Krystal. I roll my eyes, wondering who her victim was this time.
I was just pleased she had moved on from Cal, in all honesty. Krystal smirks as she walks away and I see the other half of the couple kissing.
It was Luke.
I let out a bitter laugh, unable to believe his audacity. Asking me to meet him just so I could see him with Krystal? He was so petty.
"Krystal? Really Luke?"
He wipes his mouth and smiles at me in mock surprise.
"Sorry princess, didn't see you there."
I fold my arms and stare at him coldly, annoyed he was choosing to waste my time like this.
"What did you want to tell me?"
He flicks his black hair out of his eyes and leans back against the bleachers, dragging his eyes over me as he does.
"You can come closer, I won't bite. Unless you want me to."
He winks, making my stomach churn with annoyance. I walk closer to him, standing infront of him with my hands on my hips. I don't have time for his fucking games.
"What? What did you want to tell me?"
He moves his eyes from my lips down to my chest.
"Did you really fuck him Gretchen?"
I blink, caught off guard.
"What?! It has absolutely nothing to do with you," I snap, as he narrows his eyes.
"So you did. Wow."
He shifts his gaze over to the field as I furiously wonder who had told him.
Rosie? Surely not. He looks back at me and speaks coldly.
"So what, I wait a year and he waits a day?"
We stare at each other in anger, until I finally speak.
"Is that what you wanted to talk about?"
"No, actually its not," he clears his throat.
"Has Cal told you anything about himself? Anything you might not have liked princess? Or do you not talk?"
He says the last part bitterly, and I feel my heart ache with remorse.
"I'm really sorry Luke, I can't help how I feel."
He nods, his eyes flashing with anger.
"Yeah, whatever. So do you know why Cal moved here?"
I don't want to hear this from Luke, of all of the people.
"Luke don't you think Cal should tell me?"
He laughs then, nodding his head enthusiastically.
"Absolutely. He should have told you by now. The thing is, he's family. So you will hear it from me, and no one else- because no one else will know. If he thought anything of you, he would've told you that you could be in danger."
He fixes his eyes on me, and they soften slightly as his shoulders sag.
"I actually care about you. I didn't think for one second you would have left me to be with him, so it would have remained a secret. But you did, so now you need to know."
I frown as I watch him kick the floor with his foot.
"He took part in a robbery. They got away with a fuck load of money and jewellery. There was a girl there. She ended up in hospital."
I felt like I couldn't breathe, my heart hammering in my chest as he continues.
"The problem was, she was the daughter of a very important gangster in New York. Cal got arrested, sure. But then there was money on his head, and all his family."
I blink furiously as I stare at Luke, before I manage to speak, my mouth suddenly dry.
"They want to kill him?"
He looks at me with annoyance flashing in his eyes.
"He is a bad fucking person Gretchen. His family had to go into witness protection and move here. His name isn't even Cal fucking Fallon."
