Chapter 34

Talia wakes up the next day and feels too well rested. She recalls last night and starts to panic a bit. Axel and Styles are here. Oh, my soul. She presses the button and the nurse comes in. “Morning Talia. You finally awake. Did you sleep well?” She sees two bodyguards by the door before she closes it behind her.

“Morning. Yes, I slept like a baby. I want to shower please.” As she stretches.
“I am glad to hear that. Of course. Let me help you.” She approaches her. She felt refreshed after the shower and now she could have breakfast. She gobbles it down and lays back down. Now to relax.

She turns her attention to the door when she sees it opening. Axel and Styles file in the room. “Morning.”

“Did you sleep well?”

“How is your arm?”

They are both asking questions simultaneously and she feels like her head is going to burst. “Styles.” they both keep quiet when they hear her speak.

“Yes.” as he responds eagerly.

“If you don’t mind, I would like to talk to Axel alone. I will talk to you after.” Axel looks surprised at her words but then Styles looks very hurt. “Of course. If that’s what you want.” He turns, and he leaves.

She had known what she wanted to do. That was to set the record straight. Talia couldn’t hide from Axel forever and they were some things that she wanted to know. The room is silent now, she starts to feel her hands getting clammy. She was anxious to be left alone with Axel.

She wills herself to look at him. This is the first time that she had looked at him properly since she had left with Styles. He looked like he had lines on his face and she noticed the dark circles under his eyes. He matches her gaze and she looks away.

She clears her voice so that she can try speaking. No words come out of her mouth. “Why are you here?” she finally says.

He looks at her in disbelief at my question. “Don’t you really know why I am here?”

“Then why would I ask?”

He takes a deep breath then he starts “I’m here for a lot of reasons. One, I have been looking for you. Two, I have missed you and I couldn’t wait to see you again.”

“That’s a very touching speech I must say. If I didn’t know you I would be fooled. Where you actually looking for me? Or was it a matter of finding a possession. Something that belonged to you.”

He looks at her for a brief moment. “How can you even say that Talia. Do you know how long I have been looking for you? I even forgot my pride when I asked for help from people I would normally ask.”

She turns away. She doesn’t want to lose her calm. She didn’t want to burst into a rage of tears. She had to stay firm.

He carries on speaking. “All I want to do is to get you better and then we can go home and talk properly.”

She is shocked. Did he think this would be swept under the rug so easily? That she would simply just walk out of here as if nothing happened.

“I’m not going anywhere with you.”

“Why?” His voice comes out small. She turns and looks at him. He seems genuinely hurt. But she will be damned if she fell for those lies.

“I don’t want to. I don’t know if I can trust you anymore and what your intentions are.”
“I just want to get you home safely. London is also worried sick about you.” Axel said.

“Sure, you were worried sick or were you scared that I would snitch on you guys. Don’t worry they never even asked about you guys.”

“I never said or assumed that you did that Talia.”

“You don’t have to say it. I know how you guys operate.”

“No, you don’t even have an idea of how worried we were about you. I have barely had a decent amount of sleep trying to find you but this seems one-sided.”
