Beware of sex.

Evangeline woke up in their room from the bright, warm sun blanketing her face. She blinked slowly as the thoughts of last night flooded back. She blushed furiously as she ran her hand down her stomach, replaying the burning images of Adlaric on top of her.

Unexpectedly, he thrusted himself to the hilt within her wanting pussy. She let out a brief gasp of pain, and he paused as she readjusted to his sheer size.

Her breath hitched in her chest and her eyes fluttered closed. The images from the night before made her hot with desire. She wanted more. She wanted him now. Her body ached to feel Adlaric deep in her core.

Adlaric could smell her arousal as soon as she woke up. The thoughts that made his cock swell made her wet, and fuck, did he love how sweet she smelled. His hand lightly grazed her upper thigh.

Immediately, her dark eyes opened and she watched his eyes intently as he gently move his hand up her stomach. He never took his eyes away from hers. His hand returned to her core and her breath stopped.

“Are you okay with this?”

She nodded her head, not trusting herself to speak. His finger teasingly traced her clit as he watched her face morph into one of bliss. As she became increasingly frustrated, he grinned and finally moved his tantalizing fingers down and eased them inside her.

She gasped from sheer pleasure as he moved his fingers in deep, tantalizing motions. Of course she had her own fingers in her before, but nothing- no one -compared to Adlaric.

Abruptly, he pulled away and stood off the bed. Her eyes widened in confusion before he pulled her by her wrists and moved her to stand in front of the wall-length mirror. His hand gripped her hair and he pulled back, somewhat harshly, forcing her ear to come closer to his lips.

“I want you to watch how you come undone when I fuck you, princess.”

Fuck, she thought. That was so hot. He pushed her legs apart and leaned her forward, placing her hands on the wall on either side of the glass.

She moaned as she felt his fingers delve into her folds again. Her eyes instinctually closed.

“Watch,” he commanded. Eve opened her eyes and practically fell apart from the scene in the mirror. She could see his muscles contort with every thrust of his fingers, she could see how beautifully certain he was in his movements, and she could see her breasts bounce as her body greedily enjoyed what he was doing.

Her lips parted as he pulled back and thrusted his hard cock into her. He stopped for a moment, allowing her to readjust to his size. It wasn’t long before she was looking him in the eyes, watching as he fucked her.

She was his and she knew it. She accepted it. She was perfectly fine with being his to use; it turned her on with how dominant he was being with her. This was his true character. Yes, he was sweet, kind, and protective, but this was his intuitive personality. This was pure Lycanthrope.

It wasn’t long before she felt her stomach tighten and warmth swallow her whole. “Oh, fuck, Adlaric!”

He pulled himself out of her warmth and allowed his seed to cover her light-skinned ass with a deep groan of his own. He placed his hand on top of hers and laid his head on her shoulder, breathing heavily.

“Too much?” She asked, noticing him struggling to catch his breath. Adlaric’s deep chuckle caught her off guard as he lifted his head and looked into the mirror with his dark eyes.

“Not enough. I’m trying to control myself from taking you again.” He pulled her hair back to stand her up straight and she took that moment to glance at his member that was still straight with life.

“I thought men couldn’t cum so many times in a row?”

“Human men,” he corrected. He knew she would be sore so he grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles. “Let’s clean you up.”

“Huh?”

“Moya, I c-”

“I know that,” she interrupted. “But you’re not the only one who wants more...” She blushed, embarrassed from the sexual arousal that consumed her. She was always sexually frustrated.

He stared at her in awe.

“Let’s shower, shall we?” She asked with a small smirk as she led him into their bathroom.

•••

June grinned down in her cup as her mate begrudgingly came in. He rolled his eyes as he heard the moans of pleasure coming from his King’s bedroom.

“Goddess, they never stop!”

June smirked and turned to her mate. “Do you remember when we first mated? We couldn’t get enough of each other.”

“Yeah, well, you’re quiet. Evangeline is not.”

June laughed at her mate and tried not to listen to the sound of their headboard crashing against the wall. “We should have made their room soundproof.”

“Adlaric would never allow that. He gets off on knowing the entire Kingdom hears their...endeavors.” After a moment, Dimitri groaned in frustration and stood up. “I can’t listen to this anymore. Let’s go.”

“Go where?”

“To our room?”

“Why?” She asked as he pulled her out of the kitchen.

He turned to her with his blush-worthy grin. “Because I need something to clear my head and what’s better than good se-”

“Royal Beta Dimitri.”

Dimitri stopped and turned to the group of elders collecting in the mansion’s foyer. His eyebrows furrowed for a moment as he looked at Elder Mayrs. The Elder smiled, apologetically.

“We apologize for interrupting. King Adlaric invited us from Russia to his home here in the Americas,” he explained. The Elder smiled as a resounding bang rushed through the home. “Sounds like the King has been...busy.”

The elders around him laughed and snickered to themselves. “We couldn’t wait to meet our Queen,” Elder Honors explained as she stepped forward.

“No need to apologize,” June assured. “Let’s go to the boardroom while Dimitri gets our royals, shall we?” Dimitri gave June a look to which she grinned and winked at him. June sure as hell didn’t want to interrupt them, but neither did Dimitri. He groaned as the elders left and followed his mate down the hall. With a deep heave, the Beta ran up the stairs and stopped in front of his King’s door.

He winced when he heard, “Fuck, you’re so big!” Goddess kill me, he thought. Even before he managed to knock, the door swung open, revealing a naked Adlaric.

“What is it?”

The Beta cleared his throat. “The elders decided to drop by.” Dimitri stood still as he heard Adlaric curse in annoyance. “They want to meet the Queen.”

“Where are they now?”

“In the boardroom,” Dimitri replied.

“I’ll be there soon.”

Minutes later, Evangeline was dressed and in the kitchen while Adlaric was showering, preparing to meet with the council. Evangeline didn’t understand how important this was, but it must have had a lot of significance considering he stopped enjoying her. She blushed as her hands grasped the mug in front of her.

“Ugh, you reek of him,” June commented as she walked in. She smiled as she sat beside Evangeline. “It’s good, huh?”

Evangeline smiled. “Oh, God, the best!” She practically melted in front of June. “Does it ever go away?”

“What? The butterflies? The desire? The happiness and attachment to him? You miss him right now even after spending hours with him, don’t you?”

Eve nodded. June smiled as she shook her head, her hair flowing around her shoulders. “No, it never goes away. Every time you’re with him it’s going to feel like the first and it’s incredible.”

“Good.” Eve looked toward the door as Elizabeth walks in. She remains hesitant as she glances at her surroundings. “Come sit, Elizabeth,” Eve greeted. The woman came in and sat down beside June.

“How’s the dating life,” June asked Elizabeth who blushed deeply. Eve laughed as she scooted off her stool. “I’m gonna go for a walk. Would you like to join?”

Both ladies shook their heads. Eve just smirked as she left the kitchen and headed out into the summer air. Her favorite season was summer; she enjoyed the warmth. She guessed she would miss it once they moved back to Russia.

Eve stopped in her steps. She missed Russia. She longed to see the mountain peaks and feel the crisp air on her skin. She chuckled to herself and how ironic it was; everything about her was designed to aid Adlaric. Every part of him was created to entice her. God, she missed him.

Her steps faltered as she saw an older woman and man walking through the forest. The woman stuttered on her feet and fell down. The man helped her back to her feet. Evangeline immediately went to the couple and smiled softly as she went to the woman’s side and held her arm. “Are you alright?”

“Aren’t you precious- isn’t she precious, Mayrs?”

“You’re sweet,” the man said with a wise smile.

“I’m alright,” the woman continues, patting Eve’s hand. “I’m old, but my bones are sturdy. Just ask this one!” The woman points to the man who rolls his eyes.

“I’m Clarise Honors, my dear, and that’s Paulus Mayrs.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Eve said as they continue to walk through the forest. “Where are you two heading?”

“To the house,” Paulus responds. “What is your name?”

“Oh!” Eve exclaims, embarrassed. “I’m sorry I never introduced myself. I’m Evangeline. Most people call me Eve.”

The two elders looked at each other with shock and awe filling their eyes. Eve wasn’t sure who they were, but they were nice so far. “Evangeline. What a beautiful name.”

The Queen smiled at Clarise and pushes her hair behind her ear. “Thank you, ma’am.” Evangeline led them into the house.

“Will you show us to the boardroom?”

Eve nodded. “Of course, it’s just down the hall.” Eve knew that the council was here, but she didn’t know what they looked like and she didn’t know where they were meeting. It never occurred to her until she pushed the doors open and found her mate sitting at the end of the table with a crown on his head and about a dozen other elders surrounding him.

Evangeline blushed, embarrassed, and led Honors and Mayrs to their seat. She kept her head down as she stood straight. “I’m sorry for interrupting,” she apologized.

“You could never interrupt your own council,” Clarise admonished.

The rest of the council gasped. “What is your name, child?” A man asked. Eve bit here bottom lip.

“My name is Evangeline, sir.”

Almost immediately, all of them stand up with their heads bowed. “Queen Luna,” they all greeted. She didn’t know how to respond. Adlaric sensed her discomfort and stepped in.

“Please sit,” he said. He stood up and went to Evangeline who immediately melted into his embrace. Eve’s eyes met with another elder’s who looked particularly uninterested in her, unlike the others. She pulled away. “I’ll let you all get back to work.”

“Please stay!” Clarise insisted.

“Oh, yes!” Paulus added. They were followed by other elders’ persistence to the point where she was now sitting on the far end of the table. She was told it was customary for the King to sit on one end while the Queen sat on the other.

“We have much to go over! When will you be moving back to the Kingdom, my Queen? When will you carry his pups? Oh! Your crown!” Clarise rapidly talked. “First thing’s first, we must decide a date for your coronation-”

She was interrupted by the same man who had given Evangeline a sour look. “With all due respect, we should wait for her to be coronated. In fact, perhaps she should never be.”

Adlaric growled in warning.

“What do you mean?” Paulus questioned.

“Our dynasty has been left unsoiled for the passed thousand years. It would be a shame to allow such...a barbarian bloodlines into our Alpha line.”

Eve’s heart fell to her stomach. She thought they didn’t mind that she was human.

“She’s human. Her race means absolutely nothing,” Adlaric said, eerily calm.

“I could handle having a normal human as a Queen, but one of color? Absolutely not,” the elder hissed. Eve could feel tears spring to her eyes. Everything was deadly silent as Adlaric stood up and walked to Evangeline, pulling her seat away from the table. He knelt beside her, grabbing her hands and kissing her knuckles. He took a deep breath and when he opened his eyes, they were as dark as the atmosphere in the room. “Evangeline, I’m about to do something that I don’t want you to see. Leave the room and find someone to stay with until I come get you.”

His eyes willed her not to cry- not here -she couldn’t show weakness. She nodded as she stood up and walked out of the room. All she could hear was Adlaric’s feral growl and the deafening sound of the table’s wood splintering.

“Daddy?”

“Baby girl? What is it?”

Eve sobbed into the phone as she sat on her bed.

“Evangeline, what is it?”

She sniffled. “I met the elders today. Most of them were nice and they kept asking questions about Russia and my coronation and this one...this one man said I-I would soil the Kingdom.”

“Why? Because you’re human?”

She shook her head, knowing he couldn’t see her. “No, because...he said he couldn’t have a black queen. Can you just...can you come over here? Please?”

“I’ll be over in five minutes.”

Austin entered the room and immediately Eve clung to him. He rubbed his hand down her back, letting her cry into his neck. He would never apologize for the color of his skin; he was a proud Nigerian, but he would apologize to his daughter for facing adversity that stemmed from the color of her skin. He pulled away and brushed her hair from her eyes. Evangeline told him the entire story and once she was finished he pulled away and went to the door again, asking Dimitri to step in.

Eve sighed. “You’ve heard.”

Dimitri nodded. Austin sat beside his daughter again, pulling her into his embrace. “Do you remember when that boy on the bus called you that word and you came home and cried to me just like you are now?”

Eve nodded. “I wanted to hit him and you told me not to because me getting in trouble wouldn’t make him nicer.”

“Exactly. The same thing applies here. You are neither inferior nor superior because of your race. You’re black and white and that’s beautiful. Your soul is gorgeous; his is not. Kill ’em with kindness, sweetheart.”

She nodded and sniffled before looking at Dimitri. Austin smiled, although solemnly, as he looked at Dimitri. “Tell her.”

Confused, she watched as Dimitri sat beside his Queen and stared at the wall in front of him, still. “I was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In the early 19th century.”

Eve gasped. “You were...”

He nodded before looking at her. “I was a slave. I was brought to what is now South Carolina.” He looked as if he was recalling his deepest secrets and they all destroyed him all over again as if he was reliving them. “One day, my platoon decided to rise up against our massas. You know what happened?”

“You escaped?”

“No,” he said. “We were whipped until we couldn’t walk. So you know what we did next?”

She shook her head as he grinned.

“We tried again. And we failed again. We tried again. And failed. We tried, and we never stopped, and one day, we won. My point is, my Queen, you cannot have success without failure and you cannot be equal until you’re unequal.”

“What does that mean, Dimitri?” Eve groaned into her hands.

“I mean, we have come a long, long way, but we aren’t perfect yet. The lycanthrope world nor the human world have fixed the problems that we face every day. Don’t let an ignorant prick make you feel like you aren’t every bit of a Queen as you are. Use the struggles you face as motivation to fix them. You have the power to change our worlds, so stop crying, stop pouting, and get your ass out there,” he paused a moment. “My Liege,” he added.

Eve leaned forward and wrapped her arms around Dimitri. “Thank you,” she whispered.

“A Queen is always a Queen when she feels like she is one,” he responded. Her head immediately jumped back to the night they met. He said to her: A princess is always a princess when she feels like she is one.

“I can show you. It’s just this way, miss.”

Eve blushed slightly; she wasn’t used to such chivalry. He led her to the bathroom and even waited until she was finished to lead her back to the ballroom. When they neared the giant double doors, she gulped.

“What is your name?”

Dimitri looked down at her with his dark eyes. “I am Dimitri.”

“Oh! My father has spoken about you! It’s lovely to meet you. Thank you so much for showing me around.”

“Anytime. You seem a bit nervous.”

Eve nodded and glanced at the big doors again. “I’m not used to being in gowns and prancing my way in a ballroom. My parents are expecting me to act like a Queen, but I am not quite sure how too,” she admitted.

“Well, even Queens begin as Princesses. Everyone is kind, I assure you; there’s nothing to fear. I never asked your name, fair lady?”

Eve smiled at his eloquence. She brightly glanced at him from under her eyelashes. “My name is Eve.”

“Well, Eve, a princess is always a princess when she feels like she is one.”

Confidence is key; that’s what he meant. She nodded and took a breath before pushing the doors open. Her confidence left the window when she saw hundreds of eyes staring back up at her from the stairwell.

Dimitri pulled away from her and smiled down at her, sincerely. “You aren’t a girl anymore. You aren’t a princess anymore. You aren’t just Evangeline. You’re a woman now. You’re a Queen. You’re Queen Luna Evangeline Ademusayo, mother of wolves and freer of lycanthropes.” Dimitri stood up and held out his hand. Hesitantly, she took it and stood up with him. “It’s time to claim your throne.”

Evangeline walked back into the boardroom with Beta Dimitri and her father at her sides. Adlaric was sitting back down, although his eyes were still deep with anger. The elder who had said such a cruel thing to her was badly beaten, sitting in his own chair. All their eyes turned to her.

She swallowed and took a breath before speaking. “What is your name?”

The elder gulped, heaving as he responded. “Arnold Shrumer.”

“I forgive you,” she said. “I forgive you,” she repeated. “But I do not trust you, nor are you fit to make decisions regarding the wellbeing of the Kingdom. Does anyone object?” Hearing none, she continued. “You will not have your seat on the council any longer. You will go to Africa and urban locations and volunteer and only after I feel you have learned and can sympathize will you be able to claim your seat once again. Do you object?” Dimitri growled lightly in his chest as a warning. The elder shook his head. “You leave tomorrow. In regards to the Kingdom, I am ready to move there and I will be more than happy to do so. I know I am not nor will I ever be as great as a ruler as Adlaric, but I do promise I will try.” She turned to Dimitri. “Will you watch him?”

“Of course, my Queen.”

Eve smiled at Dimitri and thanked him before leaving the room. Her hands shook as her father pulled her into his arms.
