Chapter 36

I pack a small bag, taking only necessary things for both me and Hunter, who keeps watching me like a hawk. He’s playing with his toy robot, jumping on the bed, clearly excited at the prospect of seeing his father. I’ve told him about Leo, explained everything to him, including why he can’t see him yet and why it’s so important to stay away from werewolves and the pack for a while. He can’t control his strength yet, so he could hurt someone if he’s not careful, since we’re stronger than them. Despite him being almost 5, he is half-werewolf, half-Undead, so he’s way stronger than most people. I don’t even remember how many times he’s unintentionally hurt someone while hugging or playing with them.

“Mommy, does daddy know about me?” Hunter’s worried voice reaches me, as I put his favorite plushie in the bag before zipping it up.

“I haven’t told him about you yet because I haven’t seen him for 5 years.” I crouch in front of him as he sits on the edge of the bed. “I left him before I even knew I had you in my belly. I wasn’t ready to go back to him, not after what happened. – I see his eyes widen a little – I know uncle Aiden told you about it.” I finish with a teasing tone. “It’s fine, baby, I’m not angry. I just wanted you to be a little older when you hear about this. You’re still my little baby, I didn’t want to burden you with it.” I stroke his hair as I speak, and I can tell he understands what I mean.

We leave my bedroom a while later. Hunter keeps a death grip on my hand, only now showing how scared he is of meeting his father. I get it though, we don’t know how Leo will react. I’m not worried about him recognizing Hunter as his, since he inherited both of our eyes. His left eye is golden, like his dad’s, and his right is silver, like mine. He’s his father’s spitting image, and that’s basically why I managed to forgive Leo. Just looking at Hunter reminded me of Leo, of the great time we had together, of my love for him.

I still love that man. I love him so much it hurt to stay away. I closed the mind link between us, blocking him out, but I want to open it once again, to tell him that I’m coming back to him, that I love him, that I want to see him.

So I do. I open up my mind to him, the feeling of our minds connecting almost brings me to my knees.

‘I love you, Leo.’ I tell him before leaving the mansion. Hunter and I are going to ride Ash all the way, while the pack stays at the mansion to rest after the journey. I’m to contact Aiden or Asher once the matter is settled, so they can join us.

I stare at the ceiling of the guest bedroom for what feels like a millionth time. The woman next to me has tried expanding our activity in bed countless times, but I never budge. It’s not easy to stir the dead, and that’s exactly how I feel. Dead. My Angel left me and took my soul with her. Nothing makes sense without her.

Suddenly strange feeling surges through me, making me abruptly sit up in the bed.

“What’s wrong, babe?” The slightly nasally voice of my Angel’s impostor reaches me, as she glues herself to my side.

I stay quiet, concentrating on the mind link that stayed blocked for the last few years.

‘I love you Leo.’ I almost burst into tears hearing my Angel’s voice. I get up from the bed, ignoring the bitch that keeps calling my name and head towards my bedroom, locking the door behind me. I haven’t been here in 5 years. The delicate scent of my mate still lingers in the room. I have never let anyone open it or enter it, just so it wouldn’t disappear.

I crumble to the floor, leaning against the wall, just bawling my eyes out. Demon is howling in agony in my head, yearning for his mate.

‘I love you too, Angel. Come back to me, please!!!’ I wail into the mind link. I’m sorry about everything. Please forgive me. I need you.′

‘I’ll be there soon.’

I can’t breathe.

She will be here? My angel is coming back?

I shoot up from the floor, the woman in my house completely forgotten. My Angel is coming here. That’s all I care about.

I quickly clean up the room, dusting everything and making the bed before I go to my bathroom, deciding to make myself look presentable for my queen. The man in the mirror stares at me with a smile and sharp eyes. The fucker has the audacity to look happy, and I almost don’t recognize myself. My hair reaches my shoulders and hasn’t been washed in weeks, my beard is long and unkempt, my clothes dirty and worn out. I pull everything off, before grabbing my hair trimmer to take care of my hair, cutting it as short as my angel likes. Then I cut my beard until it’s the right length, just like my mate likes.

After quickly cleaning the mess on the counter and sink – my Angel hates mess – I take a shower 3 times in a row, just to make sure I’m absolutely clean. It takes a while, but I’m too anxious to care about anything else than my Angel coming here.

I put on my shirt and dark jeans, and thankfully they still fit. I managed to stay in good shape, mainly thanks to Shane, who kept forcing me to train with the warriors. If it was anyone else, they would be punished for speaking to me the way he did, but he’s Angel’s friend, her ‘Grey’, so I let it go.

Once I’m ready I leave the house. The fake bitch tries to catch my attention by saying something about my changed looks, but I barely hear her despite my sharp senses, my mind consumed by the thought of my angel.

Pacing back and forth in front of my porch, I anxiously wait for my mate to arrive. The woman, whatever her name is, talks some shit from the doorstep, not stepping out, probably worried about getting her feet dirty. My Angel was never like that, she didn’t mind walking barefoot everywhere, even though I carried her most of the time. My arms are aching to do that again.

The bitch seems to get frustrated about my lack of response, coming up to me and wrapping her arms around my torso.

“Fuck off.” I growl at her in warning.

“What’s wrong, babe? Let’s go back to bed, you were supposed to mark me today.” She whines, trying to pull me inside, but I don’t move. What the fuck does she mean by that? I never promised anything, especially not giving her my mark and making her my Luna. Only my Angel deserves this title.

“Take your hands off him before I do it for you.” My knees almost buckle beneath me at the sound of my Angel’s powerful voice.

“The fuck are you, bitch?!” Angel’s impostor screeches in fury, finally stepping away. But I don’t even notice her, all I see is my little queen. She’s confidently standing next to Ash, and I’m left completely breathless at the sight of her. Her silver hair is much longer now, reaching her hips, and she’s wearing black leather pants, tucked into heavy combat boots, but it’s her shirt that catches my attention. It’s mine. She’s wearing my shirt. I feel my eyes water as the memories of our time together flow through my mind.

“I am someone who will slit your throat if you keep talking to me like that.” Angel calmly states, but I can see right through her.

“Oh, yeah? Well, I’m the Luna of this pack, so you better watch your tone.” Angel gives the bitch a challenging look, crossing her arms across her chest and raising her brow.

I wordlessly make my way to my angel. It’s as if my legs have a mind on their own. We stand in front if each other not even a feet away, as our bodies almost touch.

“You’re here.” I croak, as traitorous tears run down my cheeks. She reaches up and wipes them off with the pads of her thumbs, making the tingles zap through my whole body with unimaginable force, as if they accumulated during the time we were apart.

“I love you so much, my Angel. Please forgive me.” I cup her face in my hands.

“I’ve forgiven you years ag-”

“Mommy, I have to pee!” I look around to find the source of the voice, only to be met with the face of a small boy, sitting on Ash, as he looks our way with a cute frown.

Angel sighs heavily. “That’s why I told you to use the bathroom before we left.” She says in a slightly condescending tone.

“Wha-” I don’t know what to say. I’m fucking speechless.

Angel comes up to the boy and helps him get off Ash’s back then leads him to me by his hand. “Well, it’s not how I wanted this to go, but… Leo, this is your son, Hunter. Hunter, say hi to daddy then go to the bathroom.”

My son! It seems unbelievable, but I can see the resemblance. He looks just like me, had it not been for one of his eyes being silver, like Angel’s.

“Daddy?” He cranes his neck to look at me, so I get on my knee for him. He wraps his small arms around my neck and the most amazing feeling surges through my body.

“Hi, Hunter.” I softly say, not knowing what else to do. Is this real?!

“Hi daddy. – he pulls away, looking shy – I HAVE TO PEE!” He exclaims before running into the house in search of a bathroom, Shane following right behind him, already shifted.

I chuckle at his cuteness. Angel just shakes her head, before sending a harsh glare to the bitch who’s been watching us with shocked eyes.

“So you thought that by making yourself look like me you would take my man away and become Luna, huh?” She’s pissed now. I stand up and go behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist and burying my face in her hair when she doesn’t stop me.

I AM the Luna, Leo was going to mark me!” I tense as Angel disentangles herself from me and steps up to her impostor.

I am the Luna, the Beast, the Queen of the Dead, and most importantly – I. Am. Leo’s. Mate.” She seethes in the bitch’s face before unsheathing her sword and cutting off her head with one swift move. What the hell?

“Was she bad?” Hunter asks from the porch. He saw that!

“She was trying to steal your daddy, baby. Grey, can you take care of it, please?” Angel is not at all concerned about him seeing her decapitating someone.

“Daddy!” Hunter scolds me with the most menacing expression he can muster on his cute face. He wraps his arms around my leg, barely reaching past my knee, as he cranes his neck to look me in the eyes. “If you hurt mommy again, I will kill you in your sleep!”
