Chapter 46

After we get Lia a new phone, for which she paid despite my protests, I drive her home, so she can pack a bag for the trip.

“I’ll pick you up in about 2 hours, okay? And don’t eat dinner, I’m taking you out.” I say as I stop the car in front of Lia’s house.

“Oh you are, aren’t you?” She teases with a smile.

“Yes I am.” I lean up to her and press a firm kiss to her lips. “See you later, baby.”

“See you, Cakey.” She gives me a peck before getting out of the car.

As I drive home I’m hit by a sudden thought. What if my dad doesn’t allow me to go to the cabin? Shit, I haven’t thought about that. I hope he agrees. Well, if he doesn't, there’s still mom to ask and I’m sure she'll be more than supportive of the idea of taking Lia out of town to relax.

“Hi mom. – I greet my mom with a kiss on the cheek – Dad’s in his office? I need to talk to him.” I ask, getting a curious look from her in response.

“Yeah, he’s in. What’s wrong?” She asks.

“Nothing’s wrong mom, don’t worry. – I decide to be honest with her, I might need her help later – I just want to ask him for the keys to the cabin. I want to take Lia there.” Mom looks like she’s about to melt after she hears this then snaps back into her ‘mom mode’.

“What about school?” She crosses her arms over her chest, looking at me questioningly.

“I was thinking we could maybe ditch it.” I wince slightly, expecting my mom to start her lecture, but she just sighs. Then she smiles.

“Normally I wouldn’t allow it, but after latest events, I guess you deserve a break. Both of you.” She says.

“Thanks mom, but I still need dad’s approval, so if you don’t mind, I’ll go see him now.”

“No need.” I hear my dad’s voice from behind me as he leans against the door frame with a stern look. “I heard you. Even though I don’t approve of you skipping classes… - he sighs – I agree with your mother, you deserve a break. A lot has happened lately and I know it’s been stressful for you. Fine, I’ll let you go, but if you do something stupid and get in trouble, I will not hesitate to ground you.” He finishes with a threatening look, making me swallow nervously as I frantically nod at him.

“Don’t worry honey, Lia’s going to be there.” I gape at my mom.

“Thanks mom. – I sarcastically exclaim – Your faith in me is touching.” I remark dryly, making my mom shrug with a grin on her face.

“The keys are in my office. Do you have enough money with you?” Dad implores, reaching to his wallet.

“Yeah, but if you want to give me some, I won’t say no.” I grin cheekily, reaching my hand out to him.

Dad just chortles, but gives me few bills anyways. I put the money in my pocket, patting my dad’s arm. “Thanks dad. I’ll use it well. I gotta go and pack now. I’m taking Lia to dinner before we go to the cabin.” I make my way to my room.

I pack my clothes and toiletries, making a mental note to stop by a grocery store, since the fridge at the cabin will be empty. After I’m done, I zip up my bag and call the restaurant to confirm my reservation. I’m honestly starting to feel nervous about this. Despite having quite a lot of experience with girls, I feel nervous about going on a date with the girl I love. Yes I’m using the L-word and I’m not ashamed of it. I do love her. That’s why the thought of Lia rejecting me or leaving me causes physical pain to spread through my body.

I got her a promise ring for her birthday when she was buying her phone and I want to give it to her along with the couple rings I got us. I hope she agrees to wear it.

Before Lia, I never even thought about doing something like that for any of the girls I’ve been with. But I want to do this for her. I want her to feel cherished, loved. I want her to know how much she means to me. I may be 17, but I’m not fucking stupid. I know that I love her and that I want future with her.

I text Lia as I leave the house, bidding goodbye to my parents.

“I’m leaving my house. Hope you’re ready. <3”

“Already packed. Got something for you ;>” I raise a brow, intrigued. But I don’t ask, I can just find out later.

“Be there soon.” I send the text and start the car.

I reach Lia’s house in record time, almost bouncing in my seat from excitement. She exits her house just when I pull up. She looks amazing in her dark ripped jeans, combat boots and my leather jacket. She still keeps it, but I don’t mind, she can steal my whole wardrobe if she wants.

I get out of the car and come up to her, taking her bag from her hand.

“Hi baby.” I pull her to me with my free arm by her waist and give her a deep kiss. It hasn’t even been long since I saw her, but I already missed her.

“Hey Cakey.” She smiles when we pull away. I lead her to my car, putting her bag in the backseat before I drive away.

“So, what’s my surprise?” I ask, taking Lia’s hand in mine, intertwining our fingers.

“You’ll see later. I can’t show it to you here.” She smirks mischievously. Now I have to know!

“Well, I have something for you, too. I hope you like it.” I say tentatively. I really hope she likes it. I think I know what she likes, but I’ve never done this before, so I’m quite nervous.

“Really? You didn’t have to.” She frowns cutely. I kiss the crease between her brows as we stop at the red light.

“It’s your birthday. – I shrug – Of course I would get you something.”

“Cute Cakey.” She leans forward and kisses my cheek.

“Welcome to Taliano, my name is Kelly and I’ll be your server. What can I get you started with today?” A tall brunette hands us the menus after we take our seats at the table in the restaurant. Taliano is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. I’ve been here a few times with my parents on our way to the cabin, so I know for a fact the food is good.

“What are you getting, sweetheart?”

“I’ll take lobster ravioli for starters. And then… Cotoletta with roasted potatoes. What are you getting?” Lia turns from the waitress to me.

“I’ll take Linguini with clam sauce and rabbit cacciatore. Thank you.” I put the menu down, in case we’ll order a dessert later.

“This place looks expensive. I hope the food is worth the price.” Lia glances around.

“It is, I assure you.” I smile at her before taking the small velvet box from my pocket and sliding it towards her.

“I wanted to give this to you later, but I know you won’t give up on your meal even if you don’t like it, so I’ll give it to you now.”

“Blake, calm down. – she chuckles – No matter what it is, I’ll like it. It’s the thought that matters.” She assures me with a gentle smile on her face, making me feel more at ease.

“Open it.” I encourage.

Lia takes the box in her hand and opens it. She doesn’t say anything, just looking at the ring and I get increasingly more nervous, almost fidgeting in my seat.

“It’s a promise ring.” I decide to clarify, seeing Lia’s lack of response.

“I love it.” She says so quietly that I almost miss it. “It’s beautiful.” She takes the ring out of the box and puts it on her finger. I take her hand in mine before pressing a kiss to the platinum black ring.

“I also have this. – I take the other velvet box from my other pocket and put it in front of Lia – These are couple rings. I was hoping you would wear it.”

Lia takes them out before grabbing my right hand and sliding the ring up my finger. I grin at her then take her hand and put the couple ring next to the promise ring.

“You really didn’t have to do this.” She quietly says, admiring the platinum band on her finger.

“I wanted to.” I shrug.

We eat in peace, just enjoying our food and talking. I love spending time with Lia, especially when we’re not interrupted by people. It’s been a while since we had a peaceful time, just the two of us.

After we’re done, I pay for the food, getting a glare from my girl. I know she likes to be independent and all, but I want to spoil her. It’s her birthday anyway.

Lia gives me a mischievous look as we go towards my car, making me raise my brow questioningly. I’m suddenly getting wary. We stop in front of my Mustang and Lia suddenly pushes me against it, pressing her body to mine.

“What are you doing, kitten?” I run my knuckles over her face, smirking at her.

She just smirks back, digging her hand into the front pocket of my jeans before taking my car keys out. She mockingly waves them in front of me, running her other hand over my chest and stomach.

I’m driving.” She declares. I give her a skeptical look, pulling her close to me.

“Are you now?” I lean down and run my nose down her cheek and jaw before burying my face in the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply before pressing a kiss to her skin.

“Yes I am.”

I laugh at her, keeping her crushed to my chest, then with a quick kiss I go to the passenger side. “Let’s go then.”

Lia handles my car with so much grace and skill it makes my jeans feel tight. The sight of her behind the wheel of my Mustang is so fucking erotic.

“Do you even know how sexy you are?” I break the comfortable silence after about an hour on the road.

“What?” She laughs incredulously.

“You’re so fucking sexy when you drive.” I repeat, my voice turning husky.

“Glad you think so.” Her gaze turns mysterious as she speaks, as if she knows something I don’t. But I don’t question her, knowing she’d tell me eventually. I just caress her hand with my fingers as the sound of Breaking Benjamin fills the car.

It’s already after 9 pm when we reach the cabin, since we stopped by a grocery store on the way. We take our bags inside, arrange the food in the kitchen then unpack in the bedroom.

“It’s gorgeous here.” Lia states, sitting on the deck as I put the blanket around my shoulders and sit down behind her, pressing my chest to her back and wrapping my arms around her waist.

“It is. It’s been my favorite place ever since my parents brought me here for the first time when I was, like, 5.” I put my chin on her shoulder, just staring at the lake. I start to understand why Lia likes water so much, it is calming.

“Are you sure it’s fine to ditch school tomorrow?” I’m slightly surprised at the change of topic, but I don’t show it.

“Tomorrow? We can stay here for the whole week if you want. My dad will make a call saying I’m sick and I know the school doesn’t check on your attendance. My parents agreed that after all that happened lately, we deserve a break.” I squeeze Lia tighter, kissing her shoulder.

“Aren’t you devious? You could’ve warned me that you plan on staying here longer. I didn’t take enough clothes with me.” She whines cutely, pinching my thigh.

“Then it’s a good thing that I have packed enough for the both of us.” I say cheekily, getting a huff in response. I notice Lia hide her hands in the sleeves of my jacket, getting cold.

“Why don’t we call it a day, hmm? We can stay here for the whole day tomorrow when it’s warmer.” I suggest, rubbing her waist.

“Okay.” She agrees.

We head straight to the bedroom after I lock the doors. I don’t want to take any chances.

I take off my shirt once we enter the room then get on the bed, expecting Lia to hit the shower first. But when she pulls off her t-shirt, I feel like my eyes are going to pop out of their sockets. She’s wearing a lace see-through bra, giving me a clear view of her breasts. Noticing my dumbfounded expression, she slowly takes off her jeans, revealing the sexiest set of lingerie I’ve ever seen. Without a word, I get up from the bed and slowly prowl towards her before picking her up by her waist, careful of her wound, making her wrap her legs around me.

She puts her arms around my neck, pressing her lips to mine and that’s when the last shred of doubt snaps. I basically devour her as our tongues entangle in an erotic dance.

I turn around with Lia in my arms and walk to the bed, gently placing her on it before settling between her legs.
