Everyone Makes Sacrifices
I stared at Lilah in shock while Roy swore and stood up to turn and face her. Lilah promptly burst into tears and ran out of the room. Instinctively, I ran out after her.
“Lilah! Lilah stop,” I called after her as she turned a corner. I nearly ran into her just past the turn and wrapped my arms around her, holding her tight. “Oh, Lilah honey, it’s ok. It’s ok. We’ll figure this out. It’s going to be alright. You know we’ll support you through everything. Don’t worry, this is going to be just fine.”
I heard Roy clear his throat as he looked at us. “I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this makes the entire situation far more complicated. You do remember there are allegations Lilah was having sex with your underage son, right? Is this Damon’s baby, Lilah,” he asked her.
Lilah looked at Roy, then up at me, then down before shaking her head. “I don’t know. It could be Damon’s or Charles’.”
Roy groaned but I stood stock still, realizing the implications. Lilah was pregnant and it could be my baby. I held her away from me for a minute and looked at her stomach in wonder. My baby could be growing in Lilah. I laughed and hugged her to me.
“What happened with your birth control,” I asked her as a secondary thought.
Lilah shook her head and shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know. I never miss a day.”
“You have been intimate with my client as well as your son,” Roy said with an irritated look. “This is going to be a royal mess. We have to find out as soon as possible who’s baby it is. Lilah, honey, the best this is going to be for you to marry someone. And, I hate to say it, but it could be problematic if you marry Damon. He’s only just become an adult and they already think you might have seduced him when he was a minor.”
Lilah laughed dryly and shook her head. “I knew I shouldn’t have let him convince me. This whole thing is going to bite us all in the ass and now you’re in trouble and I could be... could they charge me with something,” she asked, looking at Roy.
Roy sighed heavily and ran a hand over his face. “Honestly. Yes. You were in a position of authority and the penalties could be bad. While they couldn’t force Damon to testify against you if you were married, they could still get you for statutory rape or abuse.”
Lilah paled and clung to me as I felt her become unsteady. “Are you serious?”
Roy nodded slowly. “I’m not saying the charges would stick, but it’s enough to smear your name and possibly get Lizzie, Edward, and Brandon taken into foster care for a time until the situation is resolved in the eyes of the authorities.”
“We have to call Damon. He’s going to have to be part of this. We can’t make this decision without his input and I’ll get my lawyer over here as well so we can figure everything out. This can’t be decided until we’ve explored all of our options,” I decided. “And we need to make sure everyone’s input is taken into account. This affects my son’s happiness as well. I can’t just take the woman he loves out from under him.”
Roy nodded in understanding. “You all do have to do what’s best for your family. I’m giving advice on behalf of my client’s interest, but ultimately, you have to decide for yourselves what path you want to take.”
Of course, the first thing I did was take Lilah upstairs to her apartment and see the pregnancy tests myself before congratulating her and telling her how happy I was, regardless of whose child it was. Our Lilah was pregnant, giving us a new member to our family and whether it was my child or grandchild, I was delighted. Then, I wanted to show her my appreciation in another way. So, I lead her to the bedroom.
With her standing, I slowly removed each item of clothing, ending up with myself kneeling in front of her as I slipped her panties out from around her ankles. Once she was completely free, I wrapped my hands around her hips and looked to see that I had somehow missed the slight bulge in her lower abdomen. With a sigh of satisfaction, I pressed my lips to her skin and held her close to me when I rested my ear there.
Lilah gently ran her fingers through my hair as we remained still for several minutes before I leaned back and looked up at her.
“No matter what happens, I’ll always care very deeply for you. Honestly, I love you. But love means that you put the other person’s needs ahead of your own. This means whatever it takes to make you happy, I will move heaven and earth to see it done. I promise you that I will always put your happiness above my own and that I will always love you with all of my heart. Marry me, marry my son – it doesn’t matter. I will not fight your choice. You deserve the world, Lilah. But beside all the legal maneuvering, the fact is that I would be honored to be your husband. It would be my greatest pleasure and I will never be unfaithful to you,” I vowed, my throat tight with emotion. “If you accept me as your husband, I won’t protest your and Damon’s relationship. We will make it work, no matter what is decided.”
Lilah’s eyes had filled with tears and as soon as I finished speaking, she hugged me to hear, almost wrapping herself around me as she rested her head on mine. “You two are the sweetest, most wonderful men a woman could ask for. I don’t know how I got blessed with you both, but I will do what is best for everyone’s happiness and safety. I care so much about you both; I can’t imagine life without this family in it. I don’t want us to be apart: any of us,” she told me.
I could tell she was overcome with emotion and my heart soared. I knew what Lilah was saying without saying it. She would marry one of us. Our Lilah loved us wholly and had decided that she wanted to be with us for life. My son was going to be so happy.
After the emotional time was over, I took Lilah to the bed and stripped down before I knelt in front of her and tugged her so that her hips were on top of my thighs. I pulled her lips apart and looked over her beautiful pussy. I began rubbing her clit with my thumb while I moved my cock to press against her opening.
“You know, Damon had to convince me to try this with you. He taunted me by flaunting you for weeks. I was going mad by the time he set up prom,” I told her, watching her face as her hips began to squirm.
Lilah’s eyes widened and her head raised as she looked at me. “You mean when he was attacking me downstairs? Is that what that was all about?”
I chuckled and nodded. “I told him to stop but he was determined to get me to try this. He said I was the only one he felt could be trusted with you.”
As I said that, I lifted my hips slightly and slid my cock slowly inside of her. “I have to say, I’m not sorry I did. But seeing you all dressed scantily and him showing off just what I was missing almost did me in. I thought I was going to rub my cock raw.”
Lilah gasped and her head fell back, watching me with half-lidded eyes. “Oh, God... Damn him that little shit,” she growled. “I should kick his..”
I pulled back and drove back into her quickly, ending her ability to speak. The look on her face caused me to continue to drive into her over and over again while using a thumb to work her clit. I knew how sensitive she was on the inside and that she didn’t need the stimulation, but seeing her go mad with desire was like a drug I just couldn’t get enough of.
I pulled her ankles over my shoulders as I bent forward and began pumping in and out of her in earnest, bottoming out each time as I filled her up completely. Lilah was reduced to digging her nails into my arms and crying out repeatedly while I pushed her higher and higher. When she fell apart, I pushed her legs forward and held them with my hands with I shifted so that I was pounding straight down into her in a way that even Lilah could see us clearly.
Her eyes locked on where we were joined and she began to push her hips up higher with her limited ability to move. She whined and begged for faster, so I did. I thrust into her so hard and fast it sounded like I was slapping her repeatedly. All of a sudden, Lilah let out an ear-piercing scream as she buried her nails in my upper arms. Her pussy clenched on me so hard that when the gush of fluid battered the sensitive head, I couldn’t hold back and came deeply inside of her. I ground my hips down into her as my release continued for what seemed like 5 or more minutes and had drained everything from me.
I carefully moved myself to the side, then dropped next to her as I tried to catch my breath. I ran my hand over the first signs of life in her and lay in wonder of the new life that had been created. The only thing I could think of was that this could be my child.
I was on pins and needles when we finally put Damon on video call with the lawyers to decide how we were going to handle this. The first thing that happened was that Damon began hooting in happiness and wanted to see the bump. As happy as he was, it was soon tempered when the full situation was laid out with input from both lawyers. A great deal was discussed and a number of options gone over.
It was decided that we had a plausible story with how Damon and I got involved that could be used as a defense. The other decision was that I had to see a doctor and get tests done as soon as possible to determine who’s baby it was. I didn’t know how complicated it would be, so I was just going along with what everyone else thought was best. After all, I had no experience with pregnancy or any of this.
So, we covertly got an appointment scheduled with an OBGYN as an annual pap smear and birth control renewal – something that was common enough that it wouldn’t draw any suspicion if anyone figured out it was me since it was also under a false name. There, we would confirm the pregnancy and take a look at the baby. We would also be getting a parental DNA test there by drawing blood from me where somehow they could get the baby’s DNA from. Charles and Damon would both be tested and we should know within 4 days whose child it was.
Damon had to stay up there to keep from stirring attention from the media, so Charles and I would be handling this on our own. I was anxious about leaving him out of it, but between Charles and Molly, I could handle it. I hoped. Once the DNA results were back, then we would know who I would be legally tied to. I honestly loved them both enough that I would be happy with either or. They were both perfect in their own way. If I was going to choose, it would be hard, but I had to admit to myself that Damon and I clicked a little better. We were both young and still had the best years of our lives ahead of us, while Charles already lived that time in his life. It wasn’t that I felt as if he would hold me back, it was just that it seemed more exciting with Damon. Right now, though, I had to worry about this baby first.
“Well, let’s take a look and see what we’ve got going on here,” the doctor said as he maneuvered the ultrasound wand inside of me.
I was holding on to Charles’ hand and clutching Molly as I waited for the doctor to tell us what the blobs and such were.
“Well, surprise, surprise. Miss Bennington. You are going to be the proud mother of two babies instead of one,” he announced, causing me to go into a state of shock again. “Fraternal twins – each is in their own sac,” he explained. “Both appear perfectly developed for this stage and according to the size...you are 8 weeks along.”
I looked at Charles who looked as if he wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry.
“This is amazing,” he finally stated as he stared at the screen in wonder. “Wow. You did good, Lilah. You’re absolutely incredible.”
This was not the last shock we had related to this pregnancy. For starters, my birth control had failed most likely thanks to the AIDS preventative I had to take after the rape. Then, the DNA test took longer than normal because there was some kind of error in the initial reading. So, they did it again and more carefully analyzed the results. It was a good thing we were all sitting when they came in because it stunned Damon, Charles, and myself.
Damon was the father.
But so was Charles.
It was like 1 in a million, but I had managed to get pregnant by two men at the same time.
I sat in the chair, staring off into space and the ringing in my ears grew louder and louder. My mind was reeling from the news. It was impossible, but it had happened. Both Charles and Damon had gotten me pregnant. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I’m carrying the child of a father and his son. I had a baby inside of me that was the aunt or uncle of the other baby inside of me. I am carrying Damon’s sibling and his child.
Oh. My. God.
What the hell do I do now?
I sat there in stunned silence as the room on the other side of my camera erupted into chaos. Dad’s lawyer was going nuts and Roy was cussing quietly while Dad argued back with his lawyer. I looked to see Lilah sitting there looking pale and vulnerable.
“Lilah. Baby, look at me. Hey,” I said gently as I tried to get her attention. “Come on, Lilah. Look at me, baby.”
When she eventually turned me me, I could see a cloud of confusion, fear, and uncertainty all over her face. I wanted so desperately to reach out and touch her. I wanted to be home. I was going to come home this weekend if I had to fly. Lilah needed me.
“It’s going to be fine. We’ll figure this out and we’ll be ok. Everything will work out. We are going to take care of you. I promised you, remember,” I told her.
Lilah nodded and sniffled, wiping the tears from under her eyes.
“It’s all going to be just fine. We’re going to see that you’re taken care of and that everyone is happy. This is going to work out, baby. After all, it’s what I’ve dreamed of, right? It might be sooner than we planned, but this is a happy thing, ok,” I reassured her.
Lilah moved to sit in front of the screen and gently touched it where I assume my face was. “I love you, Damon. I wish you were here,” she said brokenly, sniffling again. “I need you both. Come home this weekend?”
I nodded, then glanced at the calendar on the wall. “You know, I’ve only got 1 class on Friday. I’ll leave as soon as it’s over and I will be there that night. Can you wait 2 days, baby?” I was trying to keep myself from exploding with joy at her saying those all important words. “I love you, too, baby. I’m coming as quick as I can.”
Lilah nodded, chewing on her lower lip. “I’m just scared and I don’t know what’s going to happen. My kids are aunt/uncle and niece/nephew while being siblings and it’s so messed up and I don’t know what to think,” she suddenly blurted out and began crying.
Dad ran over and wrapped his arms around her, cradling her to him. I watched my Dad hold her so gently and whisper things into her hair to help calm her down. While he did, he looked at me. While Dad and I stared at each other, the big question remained unspoken of.
Which one of us were going to marry Lilah? I would have married her in a heartbeat, but then all this legal nonsense came up and we didn’t need all the interference in our already rather chaotic lives. Especially when Lilah’s case was soon going to trial and there were threats on her life. Again, I wondered if college is where I needed to be this semester.
“Dad, I think I should return home and return to my studies next semester or see about taking classes online. With all this going on, I should be there to support the family. Especially with Lilah being pregnant,” I stated, deciding suddenly that this would be the best possible solution to handle the chaos of the next few months.
Dad looked between the lawyers, I’m assuming, then nodded. “See what you can do. If you can take them online, we’ll do that. If not, I’ll just pay for you to start again next year.”
With that settled, I collected my things and headed off to the registrar’s office to see what could be done. I was going home to my Lilah and everything else could be dealt with later. A semester or two missing from school wasn’t going to be the end of the world. All that mattered was that I be there for Lilah while she was dealing with being pregnant.
My Lilah loved me. Nothing else mattered. Regardless of whose ring she wore, Lilah was mine and I was all hers. She had finally spoken the words I had waited patiently these months in vain to hear. Now that it was out there, I knew I would never be able to let go of her. Not in life, not in death, not in or out of any plane of existence. I had won my Lilah’s heart and it was the greatest feeling in the world.
Besides the fact that I was going to be a father soon by the woman I loved more than life. For the rest of time we were now joined, having created another living being. I got exactly what I’d wished for. Before I’d intended for it to happen, but I wasn’t disappointed even a little. I jogged to the registrar’s office with a dopey smile on my face the whole way.
“Are you fucking kidding me,” Gene screamed out the moment the full results were revealed. “What the hell have you people done? Wasn’t one dick good enough for you,” he accused Lilah angrily, pointing a finger at her.
Lilah shrank back terrified, making me grab Gene’s arm and yanking it down. “It’s not her fault, Gene. Get a grip on yourself. We are all 3 adults and we made an adult decision. You don’t have to like our choice, but don’t you fucking talk to her that way,” I yelled at him, standing between him and Lilah. “I was perfectly sober as was my son when we chose to share Lilah. She was perfectly sober when we asked her to go along with it. Lilah gave in to our requests,” I yelled, emphasizing certain words to make my point clear.
“Jesus Christ,” Gene muttered angrily, glaring at me before going over to fix himself a drink while shaking his head.
After he’d taken a sip, he glared at Roy. “Did you know about this shit? That they were all... messing around together,” he demanded. “Did no one think of birth control beyond the pill, I mean, that fails at times anyway, right?”
Roy was growing angry and shot back at Gene. “No one’s fucking perfect. None of them knew the follow-up AIDS preventative medication after she was brutally raped would make her birth control ineffective. How many times do you put on a condom to fuck your wife when you don’t want more kids?”
Gene swallowed his drink, glaring at each of us in turn. “Do you know what kind of a fucking mess this is? It’s a nightmare. It could effect your businesses, your legal status in the company, your reputation in the business world... there’s a whole lot more to this than a menage with the nanny to your 3 minor children.”
I heard Lilah begin to cry. I spun around and dashed across the room to her and pulled her into my arms. I looked at the computer screen while my son told Lilah he would be here and everything would be ok. Our eyes met, or seemed to, and I understood. He’d be home to help take care of Lilah while we figured out just what the fuck we had to do to shut this all down.
I held Lilah and rocked her back and forth as I whispered into her hair to offer her more reassurances while she cried for a while, eventually collecting herself and resorting to only a few sniffles. I helped her back into the chair before I looked between the two men in the room.
“Here’s what’s going to happen. You two are going to get some facts in and figure out what we have to do and when we have to do it to keep our family from being hassled by a state agency. If you can, shut down the investigation. But if we need to make a decision about anyone marrying anyone, we need to know exactly what we’re up against. It’s no different than a business deal. Find out what the issue is and give me options and consequences. Get a press person or a publicist or whatever it is we need. Could you two maybe work together a bit on this since this involves the interests of each of your clients,” I stated evenly and speaking just loud enough that everyone had to shut up to hear me. “How long before we get a notice that they are wanting to come officially,” I asked the two men.
Roy pulled up his phone and he tapped on the screen before he spoke. “About 3 days by mail. They will require a response and they will want to make an appointment to come take a look around the house and interview the kids. We can figure they’ll want to be in the house within 14 days, give or take. We might be able to delay it a few days if we say either of you has something big coming up that could cause a delay. The most we could get would be 2 or 3 days, though. They will come regardless.”
“Alright, then let’s do it quickly. My son will be here by Friday at the latest. Let’s meet Saturday around lunch? Lilah likes to cook, maybe you can make something special,” I asked, turning to look at her with a grin.
Lilah nodded and smiled nervously. “Sure. I can do that. I’ll have to dig through to find the perfect recipes,” she stated as her eyes began to light up with excitement. “I’ll make sure it’s something good. Any allergies,” she asked as she looked at the 2 men.
“Nope. I’ll eat anything,” Roy said with a warm smile at Lilah.
“I don’t have any that I know of,” Gene answered slowly. “Are you a good cook,” he asked Lilah with a hint of skepticism.
Lilah only smirked. “I’ll let you judge for yourself.”
I grinned at Gene. “We almost never go out to eat. The kids would rather eat hers.”
Gene’s brows rose as he looked at Lilah as if reassessing her. “And you?”
“I take leftovers to work for lunch,” I admitted.
Gene grinned slowly. “Then it sounds like I’m in for a real treat.”
I nodded in agreement. “Believe me, you are. I have yet to see her try a recipe and completely fail. Usually, she’s capable of fixing it before we ever even know anything went wrong. She’s quite the baker, as well. We’ve been getting a lot of fresh bread lately,” I added, winking at Lilah and causing her to duck her head with a bit of embarrassment.
“I get lost about what to do when the kids are gone during the day,” she protested, causing Roy and I to start laughing.
I turned to Roy. “She dusted the chandelier and the ceiling around the chandelier and then all the tops of all of the doors and the trim and the vents and...”
“Shut up,” Lilah told me, swatting my arm. “I was bored. I’m used to having Lizzie attached to me all day long. It’s kind of weird without it.”
“Well, you won’t have that problem much longer,” Gene commented. “You’ll have a new one on each leg this time,” he added with a grin. “I guess fresh bread will be off the menu then.”
Lilah looked thoughtful for a few minutes. She suddenly looked at me. “Is there a way to make a whole lot of bread in advance and like freeze it all or something? I’ve kind of gotten used to homemade bread,” she added with a duck of her head. “I’m spoiled,” she whined. “It just tastes so good I don’t want to give it up and I think Gene’s right, with two babies, I won’t have time to do any baking.”
I laughed loudly at that, as did Gene while Roy chuckled good-naturedly.
“Honey, I’ll get you a maid, I’ll get you a nanny, I’ll get you a cook. You just say the word, and I’ll hire whatever you want,” I told her with a gentle pat on her shoulder.
“Ugh,” Lilah said, flopping back. “I want to do it all myself. Everyone keeps telling me that there’s no time free at all when you’ve got a baby, much less 2 of them, though and I hate to hire someone to do my job... this is so complicated!”
I knelt down in front of her and took her hands, kissing each one on the palm before I brought them together with mine on the outside of hers. “Lilah, we will get through this. We got through your attack, we got through the initial stir over your kidnapping, we got Damon into college and you met your real family. This is just another hurdle on the road. We’ll handle this like a family like we do with everything else. We’re all together in this. All of us.”
“I don’t deserve you,” Lilah said, tears coming to her eyes. “I don’t know how I managed to find you guys, but I love you so much,” she managed before she began crying again.
I held her for a little while, before Roy offered to take her upstairs to her apartment. I sat down heavily in a chair and unbuttoned my shirt a couple more.
“You do realize this could be a disaster, don’t you,” Gene asked me. “This is careless and stupid. You’re playing with fire.”
I sighed heavily before I looked over at Gene. “Your job is to handle my legal issues and give me legal advice. You aren’t paid to advise me how to handle my personal relationships. Lilah isn’t around for the money. Hell, she doesn’t need my money. Her family has more money than I will ever have. She’s sweet and she’s kind and she’s a great person and my children all love her. Lizzie wants Lilah to be her mother. If you think I’m going to walk away from that, you’ve got another thing coming. Do your job and let me worry about what’s going on between the consenting adults in this house.”
Gene grumbled at me, leaving soon afterward in a bit of a huff. Fuck him. I don’t care what he thought about the relationship between Damon, Lilah, and myself. We were adults and we could do what we wanted. There was nothing illegal or immoral about it. Maybe skirting the edge a bit, but it wasn’t wrong. The only big concern I had was whether or not I would marry Lilah or Damon would, depending on what the lawyers advised and that we decided on. I would love to see Damon marry her because he does love her with all of him, but right now he’s got to focus on college and the various legalities may make it complicated.
But what if... what if Lilah could marry us both?
A thought formed in my mind and I began mulling it over while I sat in my office alone. If we planned it all out right, it could solve all of our issues and provide a less confusing experience for the kids. But it was going to require sacrifices on the part of each one of us if if had a chance of working.
Roy helped me upstairs while I battled with my emotions. We got up into my apartment and I immediately went to get a joint. Maybe it wasn’t the healthy way to go, but I was going to try to keep my use as limited as possible. It was only associated with low birth weight, but with twins, they were already at risk of lower than normal birth weight. There was only so much room for them to grow in. I wasn’t going to risk their lives.
But right now, I needed to calm my nerves.
As I lit up with a curtain drawn back and the window up, I heard Roy pacing around a bit.
“Lilah, I need to ask you this because I’m your lawyer and your welfare is my first priority,” he began, moving to stand across from me to meet my eyes. “Are you certain this is what you want here? These guys seem to be ready to make all the decisions for you and treat you like it’s a foregone conclusion you’ll be with them. I don’t get the feeling they plan on giving you much choice who you are going to marry, either.”
“I didn’t think I could ever be so happy,” I admitted to him. “I have 2 incredibly kind and wonderful men trying to do what’s best for me. They are a bit pushy when they want something, but in the end they both care a lot about me. They spoke for me when I had no voice; I trust them. I’m glad I have you looking over my shoulder, though.”
Roy grinned and nodded, turning his gaze out the bit of window I had pulled the curtain from. “That’s always a good reassurance. The trial is going to be difficult for you, though. Especially since you’re pregnant. The defense attorney is going to do everything he can to smear your name and to get you all emotional and confused. They might not be wrong about your getting married for your own sake. But you all will need to keep this threesome you’ve got going down quiet. They would use that against you in trial. If this is really what you want, then marrying either one will help your overall appearance to a jury.”
I nodded and sighed before taking another long draw from the joint, slowly blowing out the smoke. “It’s all going to be hard no matter what way we go or what decisions we make. I’m a rape victim. I’ve read the news, I know what they do. They try to make us all sounds like horrible people that deserve it or asked for it or wanted it.”
Roy nodded slowly as he continued to watch me. “It’s the sad truth, but the legal system isn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination.”
“At least I’m not going in alone on this,” I answered. “I think that will make it a lot easier. Not easy, but easier than it would be otherwise. You have to understand that until very recently in my life, I never had anyone give a flying fuck about how I was, much less actually wanting good things for me. Sure, I had a few acquaintances that were good to me, but frankly, for the most part it was all short-lived and shallow. I could vanish and very few would notice. For the first time in my life, other people have a vested interest in my well-being. It’s a whole new world for me and honestly, I’m a little lost. So if I trust you guys maybe a little more than I should, you’ll understand where I’m coming from.”
Roy nodded as he considered me at length, before he offered me a smile. “You know, it’s hard to realize how much we take for granted in life. I can’t even comprehend some of what you’ve had to live with. It’s sad to me that you haven’t gotten to go to college or high school, but it’s really a miracle you even got a GED.”
I had to agree. “Yeah, it was. I did it and it wasn’t easy, but it really was a miracle. I had to study for months to pass the test since I hadn’t gone to enough school to have a grasp of a lot of it. Then there was the constant fight for survival – scrounging for food, trying not to freeze to death in the cold, avoiding people that would hurt me. There were times I genuinely thought I might starve or freeze to death. I was lucky that I didn’t.”
“You know, you’ll eventually need to tell your story. The federal trial against your kidnappers is going to require a lot of testimony by you. You may want to start writing things down. The FBI is eventually going to want a full statement giving everything you remember from the time when you were living with them,” he told me. “They got enough information to look for the perpetrators, but the trial is going to be a whole other ballgame.”
I chewed on my lip and gazed out the window as I considered all of what he’d said. After a few minutes, I nodded. “I guess you’ll want to help me get my formal statement written up and signed off to them or something?”
“Yes, we’ll write up a formal statement together and get that to the FBI. I’d like us to get it done before they come and ask you a bunch of questions. I think it will be easier on you,” he stated. “While saying it more helps numb you to it, with all the things going on around you, I think the less repetition will be less frustrating and taxing on your time. You’re going to have your hands full with 3 little ones and your own 2 on the way.”
“That’s fine. We’ll get that done, then. Is there anything else we need to worry about in the near future,” I asked him after blowing the lungful of pot smoke out the window.
“Nothing much. You aren’t going to smoke that stuff the whole pregnancy, are you,” he asked as he nodded toward the joint in my hand.
“No,” I answered with a shake of my head. “Twins are lower birth weight than normal and since this can contribute to low birth weight, I’ll keep my use to a minimum. I don’t want to risk any complications that I can avoid.”
“Good,” he answered, nodding with approval. “Alright. I will be in touch. Give me a call if anything happens in the meantime.”
“Sure thing. Thanks Roy,” I said to him, offering a warm smile before the giant man made his way out of my apartment, making it suddenly seem far roomier than it had been only moments before. Honestly, the guy was huge and could make any room feel significantly smaller than it actually was. With a sigh, I finished off my joint and went to lay down. With my emotions flying all over the place all day, I needed a nap.
