Becoming His

He stared at me, his eyes blazing. I swallowed, beginning to wish I had just let him pick me up after all.

'Say that again.'

I winced when he spoke, my initial confidence rapidly leaving me as he fixed me with that stare of his.

'I gave Sam my number. As a friend.'

'A friend.' He spat the word out as I ran a hand through my hair. I thought it was best to be honest and upfront, there was nothing wrong with me being friends with the guy surely?

'Does he look at you like you are friends?' He snapped darkly, his eyes on me as I sat on the bed, watching him pace the room angrily. I started to feel incredibly naive as I recalled the way he had touched my face, and said we could be friends at least.

'Yes.' I gulped.

'Absolutely fucking not. This is not fucking acceptable Annabelle. He looks at you like you are a piece of meat he wants to fucking devour.'

I had seen Bailey angry before, but this seemed like more than that. He was...panicked; alarmed.

'Bailey, I would never do anything to jeopardise our relationship.' I tried to reassure him as he laughed suddenly, making me flinch.

'You just did!' He yelled as I began to get angry too.

'Why? Because I'm friends with a guy you don't like? Because you broke his sisters heart? Why is that my problem Bailey? I have to see people you have fucked every day at school! This is just a friend! If it means so much to you, I won't see him. But i need to know why.' I realised i had tears in my eyes as he stared at me, shaking his head as though he had misheard me.

'For fucks sake. You can be friends with anyone you want Annabelle. I'm not that guy.' He ran his hands through his hair as he sighed angrily, his blue eyes fixed on mine.

'Except for Sam.'

'Does it mean so much to you? If so why?' He demanded, his voice suddenly cold. 'Do you like him, is that it?'

'Now you're being ridiculous.' I rolled my eyes as he walked towards me, tilting my chin up to look at him. He was breathing heavily, and his eyes were filled with worry.

'I was seeing his sister. That's true. Not for long, and I broke it off because there was someone else.' He sank to his knees, taking my hands into his. I didn't dare breathe as he spoke, my eyes suddenly fixed on his muscular chest that was visible through his vest.

'She wasn't from our school. I really liked her, and she cheated on me with Sam fucking White.'

'Oh God.' I whispered, their apparent hatred for each other suddenly crystal clear. He kissed my hand as he gazed at me, regret and shame in his eyes.

'Yeah. They split not long after but I was seeing Elena by that point. You know the rest. He did it just because he could. Payback.' He said bitterly as I shook my head in disbelief.

'So that's why he wants to be friends with me.' I realised, groaning.

Bailey frowned then, hauling himself onto the bed beside me.

'Nah I'm not saying that. You're stunning. Inside and out. My guess is he met you and thought, wow. Then he saw you were with me and well, who knows. Maybe he thought, more revenge? Maybe he didn't. But I don't want him anywhere near you.'

I ran my hands up his arms as I leaned into him, his delicious smell enveloping me as he kissed the top of my head.

'I love you so much, Fenton.' I murmured as I felt him pull me onto his lap, burying his face into my neck.

'I love you more.'

Our mouths met and we kissed slowly, this time it didn't escalate like it usually did. This time we kissed and we held each other, a new level reached between us. Suddenly I had an understanding for why Sam and Bailey disliked each other, and I didn't want to be part of that. I'm not a pawn to be played.

'Choose a film baby. I'll grab us some food.' He kissed me again before sliding me off him, and tossed me the playstation controller so I could bring Netflix up. I watched him leave, the muscles in his back on display despite the vest. I fancied him so much it was ridiculous.

I sifted through the films as I yawned, then I crawled into the bed. The cool sheets quickly warmed beneath me and I felt myself begin to doze as the film began playing. By the time Bailey came up, I was fast asleep. I didn't notice him slide my phone out as he located Sam's number and enter it into his phone before sending a text.

I didn't hear the reply, or see the satisfied look on Bailey's face as he tossed his phone onto the side.

I slept soundly as he curled his body around mine, wrapping his arms around me as he breathed in my scent.

'Sleep well, my Queen.'
