The next day, they both wake up together in each others arms. They hear the baby making noises and up and ready for his day as well. Elizabeth just smiles kissing Brian and heading to the baby's room.
She takes care of the child as Brian heads to the office to check mail and make sure everything is under control. He is home, yet not really. His heart and mind are in both places. Elizabeth sees it and at the moment, doesn’t say anything. She knows he wants to be all he can, and she wants the same. She just hopes it doesn't consume him or their home life.
She makes breakfast and starts the day like she normally does every day. Just holding the baby in her arms as she does her normal routine. Brian just smiles at the sight every time he sees it.
“You're spoiling him, you know that,” Brian says.
“Yep, and I am loving every minute of it,” Elizabeth replies with a smile.
Brian just chuckles and takes a seat on the sofa, watching some tv. Finally taking a break from work and sitting down with his family. Elizabeth sits down next to him curling up as the baby swings in his swing and falls asleep.
“I can get used to this,” Brian says.
“Its nice isn’t it? I am so glad you took a break.” Elizabeth says.
“Me too, I know I am busy a lot, I just need to keep up with everything. Matt would love to say, I forgot something or missed something. He is just waiting for the opportunity to do so.” Brian says.
“You can’t let him get to you. You know you got this. Screw him and his Jealousy. It's not your fault how his father feels or even Victoria. I do have to say its nice without her interfering.” Elizabeth replies.
“Yes, it is. For how long I don’t know. Matt was saying they were going to plan on having a child. That would keep her busy. Maybe even get him off my back.” Brian answers.
“That would make it that she finally moved on. It would be a good thing.” Elizabeth responds.
“It sure would be.” Brian states.
While they are sitting on the sofa the doorbell rings.
“I will get it, babe, You expecting any visitors?” Brian asks.
“No, not really,” Elizabeth says.
Brian goes to the door, and its a postman. “Are you Brian Mcginnis?” He asks.
“Yes, I am,” Brian says.
“I need you to sign for these please.” The postman says.
Brian does what he is asked and the postman hands him a large manila envelope. Brian’s heart stops knowing exactly what it was. He tells the postman thank you and walks in. Going over to the Sofa and looking at Elizabeth. Who just takes a look at the envelope.
“I take it, that's the results?” Elizabeth says.
“Yes, this is it, babe,” Brian answers nervously.
“You have nothing to worry about. Come sit next to me, we will open it together.” Elizabeth says staying as calm as she could.
Brian takes the seat right beside her, opening the envelope slowly. Taking a deep breath, he pulls out the two white pieces of paper.
“Which should I read first? “Brian asks.
“Yours, it doesn't matter about his,” Elizabeth replies. “I love you, and these results change nothing. ” Elizabeth adds.
“I know babe, I love you too.” Brian states.
“Ok, this is it.” He adds pulling the paper up.
“Statment of results for Brian McGinnis and Zackary McGinnis.
The Alleged father cannot be excluded as the biological father of the tested child. Based on the analysis of STR lod listed above, the probability of paternity is 99.99999999%.” Brian reads out loud shaking.
“I told you! I knew it, I saw you in him.” Elizabeth says extremely happy.
“He is mine, He is really mine?” Brian repeats looking at Elizabeth and giving her a big hug.
“Yes, he is yours. No one is taking him away from us. He is ours. “Elizabeth answers.
Brian just hugs her tight filled with happiness and relief. He goes over to the little boy and picks him up just holding him close to him. He had nothing to worry about. Ethan had no say in anything it was over. This really was his family, what he saw last night before she went to bed was real. He is extremely happy and overwhelmed.
