Chapter 44 Secrets

The next day, Ethan goes to work, Still not getting a chance to talk to Elizabeth. Elizabeth wanting to talk to Ethan as well. They just never had the time. Elizabeth wasn’t going to let that stop her. She figured, she would take a cab to where he worked today. Since all these years, she never once really went to his place of employment. She always left him alone, when he was at work. If she needed anything, she would always wait for him to come home.

She mostly took care of everything for the kids, and the house herself. Only asking or telling Ethan when it was something important. Ethan liked that about her. It was one thing they did get along about.

Later that afternoon, she got a cab and went to his office. Being dropped off. She tells the Cabbie to wait, Not sure how this is going to go. She looks around the car dealership, not seeing anything out of the ordinary. She walks into the lobby to this beautiful woman at the front desk.

“May I help you?” Jessica asks. A tall, curvy woman, with red hair, and blue eyes.

“Yes, I am here to see Ethan.” Elizabeth states.

Looking at the woman’s desk. She spots a picture taking a good look at it. Jessica holding a small boy in the picture, with Ethan next to her.

“Your son is adorable.” Elizabeth states.

“Thank you he is five. He looks a lot like his father in the picture doesn’t he?” Jessica says.

Elizabeth takes another look, trying to hold back her disbelief. Thinking she might have heard that wrong.

“His father? Is that his father in the picture with you two?” Elizabeth asks. Staying very calm in front of Jessica. Not letting on to anything.

“Yes, That is my boyfriend Ethan. We have been together for six and a half years.” Jessica answers.

“That’s great. Guess you two get along very well?” Elizabeth asks.

“Oh, Yes, He is the best. Couldn’t ask for anyone better.” Jessica answers.

“I am glad he was something good for you. After today, You will have Ethan all to yourself. I hope you’re very happy together.” Elizabeth announces.

“Excuse me?” Jessica says. Looking at Elizabeth not understanding. Then it dawns on her. “Oh my. I am so sorry. The way he described you.......I would never have thought this was you.” Jessica blurts out.

“May I see him please?” Elizabeth asks. Staying as cool as she can, not giving the bitch any satisfaction that she even cares. Being the cold shut down person, Ethan always said she was. It now really came in handy.

“Sure. Ethan, your wife is here to see you.” Jessica says over the intercom.

Ethan coming out of his office in record time. Just staring at Elizabeth.

“What brings you here? Come to my office?” Ethan says very nervously. ”

Elizabeth says nothing and goes into his office quietly. Waiting for him to shut the door behind both of them.

“So you been screwing her for six and half years? You, have a son with her Ethan? Where you ever going to tell me? How could you? I mean out of everything, you even had to do this?” Elizabeth asks.

“I am sorry. It just happened. The reason, I kept seeing her was because of my son. I wanted to give him the life our girls had. So I see her every night, trying to be a father to the little boy. I made a mistake.” Ethan states.

“All these years. That’s why you didn’t touch me? That’s why you didn’t pay attention to me? You came home late. You were with her and I thought you were working. How dumb I was? Good God. She doesn't seem to think its just because of your son, either. She seems happy with you. At least you made someone happy. ” Elizabeth comments.

“Please, we can make this work. I am glad it’s out in the open. I am willing to walk away from her, just seeing my son.” Ethan remarks.

“Me too. It really makes me know that what I am doing is the right thing. I want a divorce.” Elizabeth says.

“Your screwing Brian aren’t you? It’s the reason you don’t want anything to do with me now. You love him?” Ethan asks.

“Yes, I do. We have such a different relationship. It’s meaningful, he cares. He listens. He treats me the way, I should be treated.” Elizabeth answers.

“Is there anything we can do to fix this? I don’t want to see what we had thrown away.” Ethan states.

“First you should have thought about that before having a child with another woman. I could forgive anything but that. When I asked you to have another child. You told me no. Yet, here you are with someone else. Anyway, I hope you two are happy together. I hope you do better with her, then you have with me. I will send you the papers. I don’t want anything from you. You can have the house. I do want to see Izabella. She will be 18 in a few months, so then we won’t have to talk about any of that. They are both Adults now. ” Elizabeth comments.

“ I am sorry, I really wasn't looking to have any more children. Like I said it just happened. If it was planned it would have been with you. You’re leaving Wisconsin?” Ethan asks.

“Yes, there isn’t anything here for me anymore. You can be free with your girlfriend. I am sure. She will be very happy about that. BTW how did you describe me to her? The old housewife? The plain, ordinary woman? A Nothing? She didn’t expect me to look like this. Guess the surprise is on both of you. We were paying for a house and bills all these years. You didn’t have extra for me to dress up. We had to take care of two kids. So I put myself on the back burner. Not that it was appreciated.” Elizabeth replies.

“I am sorry. I am sorry for everything. I would change it if I could.” Ethan states.

“Maybe it’s good you can’t. ITs just time for us to move on.” Elizabeth answers.

“I don’t want us to move on.” Ethan answers.

“You should have thought about that six years ago, before getting in bed with her. I hope all of it was worth it, then even without you doing that. We still wouldn't have lasted.” Elizabeth replies.

Walking out of the office.

“He is your problem now. Good luck.” Elizabeth says to Jessica.

As she walks out the door, going to the cab. She did her best not to show either of them, how that truly bothered her. Yet, it did. How could he? All my youth, All my everything. And he was doing this the whole time.

2:00: Elizabeth: I told him it’s over. He was cheating on me the whole time. Even has a son, I can’t believe it. I am shaking like a leaf. That bastard. I can't believe he lied all these years. How stupid was I?

203: Brian: What? I am so sorry. It’s all over now. You have me. I am here for you. I would never do anything like that. I am just sorry you have to go through this.

2:05: Elizabeth: It just made me know, I was doing the right thing. Remember you telling me about the beach? That you would go every year. That you would show me? Get us a place to stay, I want to go with you. I am not coming back here Brian. There is nothing here for me. I just do want you to be sure you want this?

2:09: Brian: I am more than sure. I wanted this from the start. I will get us a rental, I will send you were at. Then you can fly there and I will meet you. We have a lot to talk about. Like where we are going to live? I want to be with you. Always!

2:12: Elizabeth: I would like that. I Love you, Brian. I am just sorry it took this for me to realize it.

2:14: Brian: It doesn’t matter. As long as you did realize it. Gather up your stuff, Then come to me.

2:15: Elizabeth: You got it.

After the texting, Elizabeth goes home, packing up her things. There wasn’t anything, she really wanted. She just took the items she had already in her suitcase. Her phone, and her laptop. She wanted to leave the rest behind. All it had were bad memories. Of a life that was a lie. She thought things were bad, just not knowing this bad. A Son? How blind was she not to notice? It took her a while to calm her nerves. Sitting at the dining room table, Waiting for her girls to come home. To tell them.
