Chapter 12

On Monday, Rob acted surprisingly sweet, and I was very comfortable around him. I was glad that there wasn’t any awkwardness between us. He became one of my few friends here. Lily started to hang out with him, and I caught a few times throughout the week when they were flirting with each other. Kate was texting with Tim whenever he wasn’t busy with practices. I didn’t see Logan at all, but his girlfriend was always on my way, giving me gazes full of hate. I was wondering, what was her problem with me? She looked like a doll, one of the most gorgeous men on the campus was hers, she had a chord of friends, so why this sudden interest in my persona? To hell with her and her boyfriend. They deserved each other.

The most surprising thing happened to me on Monday in the late evening. I was with Lily in our room, we ended our studies and now were discussing what to watch before sleep. My phone buzzed with an incoming message, and I took it from the bedside table. As I saw the text, my eyes widened in surprise, and my heartbeat accelerated in a flash.

“Hey, little minx, I want to see you. In 10 minutes. I’ll be in the parking lot.”

“Is it a command?” I answered back immediately, typing away my answer.

“U don’t want to see me? I am hurt 😭.”

Of course, I wanted to see Drew. But was it reasonable? He’s used to hooking up with girls, while my night with him was my first experience of casual fuck. I might get carried away if I’ll continue seeing him, and I will be the one who will be hurt in the end. Shit! I was losing it. I sighed, looking at my phone.

“I’ll be there.” We’re only live once, they say.

I quickly got changed, putting my dark blue dress with long sleeves and my black sneakers. Lily looked at me with surprise. Shoot, we were going to watch a movie together. I smiled at her.

“Lil, sorry, something came up at the last minute. I will be late, so don’t wait up for me, okay?”

“Are you going on a date? With Rob?”

“What? No! We broke up. It’s about my project... for literature... I really need to get going. Night!”

I rushed out of the room without looking back once. I didn’t wait for her answer, the only thought on my mind was about Drew and what will await for me in his car. I exited the dorm and turned into the direction of the parking lot. His car was already here. I walked to it slowly, moving my hips as sexy as I could. I didn’t have time to do the makeup, as I already washed my face, and my hair was down. But with my tanned skin, I often was makeup-free. What the hell is wrong with me? It’s not a date, Becca, relax.

I opened the passenger door and slid inside Drew’s car. He was in sweatpants, some t-shirt and with bomber on his shoulders. His blond hair was messy and a little wet, I guess he came to me right after he took a shower. He went there after practice, covered in sweat... This train of thoughts brought me back to our night, and my cheeks blushed. Drew grinned at me, his brown eyes sparkled mischievously, and eyebrows shoot up in surprise.

“One minute, I even thought you’d bail out on me.”

“I guess it would be your first.”

“It doesn’t matter now, as you’re here. Are you hungry? Cause I am starving.”

“Drew, why are you here?”

“First, we’ll eat, then we’ll talk. How about it?” He studied me waiting for my answer. I could easily go back to the dorm and watch a movie with Lily, but I was sure as hell that I would regret this decision. I wanted to know Drew.

“Fine.”

Drew drove us to the diner, where he ordered some takeaway, and in 20 minutes, he parked the car in the parking lot of one of the city’s parks. Okay, he didn’t want to be seen in my company, not so good for the start. We did some small talk on our way here, as soon as we parked, Drew started to eat French fries and a huge burger with beef and cheese, drinking Cola. I refused to eat anything, it was too late for such food, but I couldn’t say “no” to strawberry’s milkshake. I waited for him to finish his meal while telling him about my studies. I was surprised because he seemed interested. He asked me about my favorite subject and why I decided to go there for my education. When he finished, he collected leftovers and took it to the garbage bin, soon he was back and stared at me. I started feeling nervous again.

“So, Drew, honestly... Why am I here?”

“I don’t know.”

“Seriously?”

“Yep, I don’t know your reasons to come, but I do know mine.”

“And?”

“I just wanted to see you. There is something about you, which I don’t understand. Consider me intrigued.”

“Okay. I always thought that I am an open book, easy to read for everyone. My emotions are hard to hide.”

“Well... Yesterday you were an open book for me, not only your emotions, your body too. But to think about it, I don’t know anything about you, like at all. Only today I found out, what’s your major, for example. You didn’t come to our parties, you never were in your room, when Logan and I visited Lil a few times. I didn’t expect you to agree yesterday if I’m honest. I was sure that you’d throw me out of your room, but you didn’t. And I spent with you the most amazing night in a couple of months.”

“I don’t like parties and... Logan is a sore subject for me. I don’t understand him, he’s confusing me and I don’t like this feeling. That’s why I wasn’t in my room when he wanted to visit Lil.” Drew’s brow furrowed, he didn’t like what he heard about Logan. He was a smart boy. He knew I wouldn’t tell him more about my reasons.

“But why are you agreed? I saw you with a guy from your class. Is he your boyfriend?”

“Not anymore. I broke up with him on Sunday.”

“Ouch. Am I the reason?” Drew smiled at me with his boyish little smile.

“Don’t flatter yourself. Rob is a nice guy, kind and smart. He’s more like a friend to me and always was.”

“Why does he sound more like the boring type to me? How was your sex?”

“Boring. I slept with him on Saturday for the first time, and it helped me to realize that we can’t be together in a romantic way.” Why was I so open with him? It didn’t make any sense at all.

“So you’re saying that you had sex with this poor guy and after let me bang you till the morning came. While he was still your boyfriend, is that right?” Drew said all this with his easy smile, but his eyes were serious, he studied my reaction. I was ashamed. My cheeks were burning from humiliation. I looked at my feet, not having the strength to look him in the eyes. What he said was the ugly truth, but I was afraid to admit it, even for myself. “Becca, look at me.”

“You’re right. What I did was horrible. It makes me sick to my stomach, but... I don’t regret it.” I straightened up and stared at him. We didn’t say another word for some time. We just observed each other. I didn’t have the slightest idea what Drew was thinking about me right now probably, that I was a slut.

“Come here, Rebecca.” He took my arm and pulled me to his lap. It was easier said than done; we were still in his car. I straddled him, my hands on his neck, his on my waist, and now we were inches away, looking in each other’s eyes. “I don’t think that you’re a whore if that’s what your look was about. I still think that you’re a gorgeous girl, and you were just confused about your feelings to this boy.”

“Drew, I am sorry, but I don’t think that you could say something that will help me to think otherwise. I cheated on my boyfriend with you, and I don’t fucking regret it. That’s what it is about.”

“What can I do for you? Anything. Just name it.”

“How about a kiss?” What the heck I was doing? Honestly, Rebecca, you should know better. But I guess, my reasonable side was in deep slumber. Drew chuckled and placed his hand on the back of my neck, forcing me to bend down to him. As soon as our lips touched, I just knew that it wouldn’t be only one kiss.

One hour later, I was nestled between Drew’s legs on the backseat of his car. His hands were on my belly, embracing me from behind. Sex with him was amazing. It was like he knew my every sensitive spot, where to press or to kiss. I felt desirable in his arms and safe. Strange feeling, but I trusted Drew.

“Is it bad that I don’t want you to go back to your dorm room?” Drew whispered in my ear, and I shivered.

“I need to go back. I made some excuse to see you, but if I don’t return, Lily will be suspicious, and Kate will be on my tail. And I don’t want it.”

“What about tomorrow?”

I turned my head and looked at him. Did he want to see me again? I was speechless for some time, so he leaned to me and started to kiss my lips, rolling me over, so my chest was pressed to his. We kissed for a while. He stopped, giving me a light peck on my nose. Drew Milton was showing his affection to me, and it was crazy!

“Becca, what about tomorrow? Will you be free in the evening? I could come for you after my practice, not so sure that I will be in my usual shape, but we could spend some time together.”

“Is practice so tough?”

“You have any idea. The coach will do everything in his power to push us to our limits, that we will show our best at the game.”

“How is it possible? He could wear you out before you will be able to walk on the field. It’s just insane!”

“I know, but that’s how he works. So, what do you say? Yes or no, Becca?”

I decided to tease him a little because I already knew my answer.

“I honestly don’t think that it’s reasonable. You’ll need rest, and besides, it’s your own words, that you won’t be in usual shape... So I guess it means that there will be no sex...”

“And now I’m definitely hurt. You hurt my feelings, Rebecca... I am opening up to you, and in the meantime, you’re only interested in sex...”

“Do you really think that the only reason for me to be here is sex?” I smiled at him while pinching his nose. His lips stretched in a huge smile. “How late in the evening it will be?”

“Around the same time, like today. I will text you as soon as I am free.”

“I’ll be waiting.” As I finished this short sentence, Drew’s lips were back on mine. We lost track of time, so I was back in my room only at 1 am. I hurriedly undressed and went to bed, trying my best not to wake up Lily.

If I tell now that I wasn’t excited about my next evening with Drew, I will be lying. I was extremely nervous about it because I didn’t have any idea where this will bring us. But I wanted to explore this, and I had no regrets about it. I said to Lily that I will go to the library because I needed something for my research. She only nodded, so as soon as I received a text from Drew, I left the room.

Fifteen minutes later, I was sitting in the car, on the backseat were pizza boxes and some drinks. Drew refused to tell me where we were heading, no matter how many times I asked him. So I decided to drop it and started to chat with him about his day. He told me about his studies, cursing one of our professors. He was on his neck because of an unfinished assignment. With laughter, Drew told me about his practice. It was so good, observing and listening to him. I felt so content in his company and so comfortable. When we finally reached our destination, my mouth opened. I was amazed.

“Are we going to watch a movie?”

“Why do you think I drove us to the open-air cinema? Or you don’t like watching movies?”

“Depends.” I smiled because it was a delightful surprise. I didn’t expect this from Drew.

“On what?”

“Movie. Food... Company.”

“Well, I guess, in that case, the only problem there could be a movie. I bought some pizza and drinks for us. And I am sure as hell that you’re enjoying yourself in my company.”

“Oh God, you’re so full of yourself. I guess it’s tough to be Drew Milton.”

“Dunno. I am pretty good with myself.”

“Sure, you do.” Drew and I started laughing. “So, what about a movie?”

“I hope you like old Hollywood classic.”

“Absolutely! I am in love with it!”

“Good. You got me worried just now.”

It was the great evening with delicious Pepperoni pizza, “How to Steal a Million” with Audrey Hepburn and Peter O’Toole, and with Drew by my side. As we both saw this movie before, eventually, we started talking about our favorite movies, favorite actors, and even favorite singers. Surprisingly, Drew and I had so much in common when we were talking about our tastes. I honestly didn’t expect to see this side of Drew. He was a guy with a reputation of the playboy, I thought that he interested only in girls and sport, but he wasn’t like I imagined him. He was so much more. He was well-educated, smart, and very attentive to details. He was funny and had a perfect sense of humor. He wasn’t afraid to joke about himself. I was genuinely impressed by him.

When I was back in my room and my bed, a huge smile plastered to my lips. I had so much fun tonight like it wasn’t for a very long time. We didn’t have sex, but we kissed and a lot. He wasn’t ready to let me go when he parked his car at our dorm. He was too tired to argue with my solid points, but he made me promise to him that I will see him tomorrow. Third evening in a row in Drew’s company, what can be better?
