Chapter 14

I hung up the phone with Mickey. I started to pace the room. Something wasnt right with all of this, but then again I didn't have the whole story. Still, I had all kinds of doubts. I know who the Bailey's are. I know what they are capable of doing, but something wasn't right. I know I had made a promise to Mickey, but I didn't care. I ran into my bedroom and started to pack some things together while I called my boss and told him I had to leave town for some family business. He was fine with me having some time off and the next thing I knew I was on a plane. I called Richard on the plane. I didn't actually think he would answer me, but he did.

"Princess, I told you I was busy."

"I'm on a plane coming to you now," I said. He got quiet for a moment.

"I'll send Mickey to pick you up." Fuck, I said to myself.

"Okay," I said. Mickey is going to kick my ass when he sees me. Whatever, I can't just sit back while the people I love are in danger. I stood outside on the sidewalk waiting for Mickey to pick me up. When he pulled up, I knew right away that he wasn't happy with me. He got out of the car took my bags. He opened the door for me and didn't look at me once. We drove in silence until I spoke up. "I'm sorry," I said. Mickey took a deep breath.

"You promised me."

"I'm sorry Mickey, but I was going out of my mind. No one was telling me anything."

"I know your heart is in the right place, but Page, you don't know what's going on right now."

"Exactly, I don't know what's going on," I said. "That's why I'm here,"

"I don't know how much Richard will tell you Page. He really didn't want you involved."

"Why Mickey? Because of Spencer?"

"You don't understand Page. Spencer is out for blood."

"Someone killed his friend Mickey. Of course, he is out for blood."

"Richard didn't do it."

"I know that, but someone did. What I don't understand is why everyone thinks Richard did it?" I said.

"That's something you're going to have to talk with him about," We finally arrived and Richard was waiting out front for me.

"Welcome home princess." He said with open arms. I went into his arms.

"We need to talk,"

"We will, but first let's have something to eat. I know you must be hungry." I knew he was stalling, but I went with it for now. Once I got Richard's side of the story. I would be paying Spencer a visit and getting his side of the story. I walked inside and my things were taken to my room. I followed Richard into the kitchen where lunch was already prepared. Richard started to try to have some small talk with me.

"Tell me what's going on?" I asked him as we were almost done. Richard wiped his face and then looked at me.

"I didn't want you to get involved Page. I wanted to keep you out of this, but since you are stubborn, I guess we had better have a talk." He said. "The night you kicked Vincent out. He went to Spencer and there was a fight. Vincent came home pretty beat up and told me everything. Things that I should have heard from you." I knew what he was talking about and he was right. I should have told Richard what I knew.

"But how does that have anything to do with Josh?" I asked.

"Give me a second I'm getting there. I know you know everything about my daughter and Vincent relationship with Spencer." I nodded at him. "Vincent has never been able to forgive Spencer. I've had many talks with him, but he just won't budge. I decided to go have a talk with Spencer. He agreed to meet me one afternoon. We talked and it didn't end well. I said something I didn't mean and so did he. I told him to leave you alone and then he threatened me." He said. I just shook my head.

"Richard, you don't own me. I can see whoever I want." I said with my arms crossed. He reached over and placed a hand on my arm.

"I know that Page. I only want to protect you, but that's not the point. I left Spencer in good shape and I actually haven't seen him since that day. Josh was actually shot the next day and my fingerprints were left on the gun that was left at the scene." My eyes grew big. "First of all Page, I would never make a mistake as large as leaving behind any evidence. Second, I very rarely do my own dirty work. Most of my man handle things like that, but I got really mad and told Spencer I would kill him and anyone who got in my way. Only this was not me. Someone is trying to frame me and from what we have found. That person is Spencer." He said. I tried to wrap my head around everything Richard was telling me. Things weren't adding up. I needed to talk to Spencer. I just didn't know how I was going to do that without anyone knowing.

"I don't even know what to say, Richard. This is a huge mess. I need to find some things out,"

"Like what Page? I don't want you to get involved."He said.

"I think it's a little too late for that. I mean I'm the reason why you were talking to him in the first place."

"Well, I don't want you going anywhere near Spencer. He is out for blood and I don't want him to hurt you. He knows what you mean to me." He said. I smiled when he said that.

"Spencer is no threat to me. He would never hurt me."

"You can't be too sure. Please Page, just be a good girl and do as I ask." Richard said. I was about to protest when I heard someone come into the kitchen. I turned around to see Vincent standing there with some girl in his arms. He looked like a deer caught n the headlights.

"Page?" He said. I took a deep breath and looked back at Richard.

"I'm going to my room," I said and I stood up and walked out of the kitchen. I could hear Vincent talking to his dad.

"What is she doing here?"

"She just showed up. If you had been here I could have told you, but your out doing god knows what in public. I'm telling you if you get caught. I'm not helping your ass again." Richard said. Good kick his ass. I said to myself. I didn't stay to hear more. I went to my bedroom and closed the door behind me. Oh yeah, you really miss me. Are you missing me while your sleeping with other women? I said to myself. I just shook my head. I'm so over men. I walked to the bed and sat down. I pulled my phone out and called Spencer.

"Page." He said when he answered the phone. He sounded different and far away.

"Spencer, I'm in New York,"

"Why?" He asked me.

"Because I need to figure all this out. Can I see you?" I asked him.

"I don't want to see anyone."

"Please Spencer, I need to know your side of the story. You were there for me when I needed you at one point. Let me return the favor." I said. He was quiet for a moment.

"You can come to my house."

"I'll be there soon," I said and hung up the phone. That's when I heard a knock at my bedroom door. "Yes?"

"Can I come in?" It was Vincent.

"Nope." I hollered back at him.

"Come on Page."

"What part of nope don't you understand?" Then my door flew open. "Really Vincent, you big ogre?”

"Page, I've been nice to you so far. I'm done being nice." He said as he came into my room.

"What the hell does that even mean?"

"It means your going to talk to me."

"I don't have to do shit." I snapped. "Why don't you go talk to your whore and leave me alone." I spit out.

"Are you jealous Page?" He asked me. I almost laughed out loud.

"You wish Vincent," I said. I stood up to walk past him. He reaches out and grabbed my arm. "Let me go,"

"Why are you being this way?" I didn't have an answer for him. He looked at me as I stared back at him. He then pressed me up against the wall.

"Vincent, stop,"

"I miss you so much."

"Really? Then who is the girl?" I said as his lips came very close to mine.

"She is a distraction."

"I have to go,"

"Go where?"

"I need to save your father," I said as I pushed myself away from him. He didn't stop me as I walked out of the room. I knew I wasn't going to get a driver to take me to Spencer. I had to sneak over to him. I went into the office where Richard keeps most of the keys to the cars and grabbed a set. I went out to the garage and hit the button. All I kept saying to myself was, please not an expensive one. Of course, it was one of the corvets. I guess that's not to bad. He has more expensive ones out here. I jumped in the car and headed over to Spencer's place. The house was all dark. There were no cars parked out front. I parked and got out of the car. I walked up to the house and knocked on the door. No one answered but the door wasn't even closed.

I stepped inside the dark house and tried to look around, but I saw nothing but blackness. I walked in and closed the door behind me. Something didn't feel right. I stayed quiet while I start to walk around. I was afraid someone was here so I didn't call out for him. I had a gun in my bag, so I pulled it out and kept it in my hand. I came out to the living room where I saw him sitting in a chair facing the outside. I walked closer to him. "Spencer?" I said. His head turned slightly at me.

"Page?" He said. That's when I saw it. He had a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a gun in the other. I walked over to him slowly.

"Spencer, what's the gun for?" I asked him as I stopped in front of him. He looked horrible. His eyes were sunken in and he had been crying. I bent down close to him. I placed my hands on his knees. "Spencer?" I said. He looked at me and my heart sank. The pain on his face was unreal.

"I fuck up everything in my life Page. I'm so done with it all. Two people I loved are gone and you want nothing to do with me." He said. I just looked at him and came even closer. I went in between his legs and wrapped my arms around him. He didn't hug me back.

"I'm here now Spencer. Let me help you." I said.
