Chapter 37

Days after the party went in a blur. It was Christmas already. So yesterday Tyler and I went to Tasha and Jake’s place and spent this marvelous holiday with our friends. Dean came with Megan and Chloe brought Mitch with her. I was happy to see, that he decided to give their relationship another chance. He was a good guy, rather kind and he was totally under Chloe’s spell.

At the beginning of the dinner, there was awkwardness between Ty and Chloe, but I worked hard for them to not to feel it. After 1 hour they were talking like nothing happened and I was all smiley about it. Dean was curious about Tyler, trying to find out as much as he could about our relationship. He caught me in the kitchen when I was here to pick another set of dishes Tasha and I prepared for this dinner.

“Hey. So... How things between you and that Tyler guy are developing?”

“Very good. Why?”

“Well... Is it the same person from your hometown or you’ve only met him?”

“Yeah, it’s him. My Tyler.”

“You look happy. Radiant even.”

“True.” I was ready to leave the kitchen, when Dean caught my arm, stopping me in my track. I stared at his hand on my elbow and he dropped it.

“I am sorry, I didn’t mean it.” Dean sighed and then looked at me with a sad smile. “I am so sorry for my behavior, Vera. I was rude and I shouldn’t have kissed you... It was very wrong.”

“It was, Dean. But I had already forgotten about this. I only regret that this situation ruined our friendship. I miss my friend...”

“I’ve missed you too... I’ve missed talking to you... I wanted to tell you about my and Megan’s relationship. She’s a very kind girl and I think I like her... a lot.”

I placed the dish on the table and leaned to Dean, hugging him. He hugged me back immediately. We stayed like that for several minutes. This time it was definitely like we were friends again, without any hidden motives or desires.

Tyler was a charmer like he was back in high school. He won my friends over this evening. I was extremely grateful to all of them for trying, for their open-minded behavior. When he and I were on our way to his apartment, cuddling in the back of the taxi, I felt exhausted because of the preparations for the dinner. Also because of laughter, we shared here. My head was pressed to Tyler’s chest, his chin rested on the top of my head, hands wrapped around me.

“I can’t believe it... All of my friends were charmed by you.”

“You doubted me?”

“A little...”

“Not fair, lady.”

“I am sorry, Ty... It’s just...”

“No. I get it. I am sure they were on their guards around me. Since most of them knew our history... But I guess, they saw how crazy I am about you and their doubts disappeared.”

I looked up at him and our eyes locked. Tyler leaned to me, placing his lips on mine. We weren’t in a rush or giving up to our desires. We were consumed by our love and my heart melted. I was so deeply in love with this man, so I was totally at his mercy. The truth was that he was at mine too. I knew it from his glances, from his words and from his tender touches. I felt it from his kisses and from our lovemaking. Tyler and I were in love and it was real.

In the morning I woke up in Tyler’s apartment. I was alone in his bed. I instantly felt the disappointment that he wasn’t here with me. I stretched and sat on the bed, looking at my surroundings. Since our reconciliation, I was spending most of my nights here. Still, it was a little weird to me. His apartment was too luxurious for me. I wasn’t used to it and felt myself out of the place from time to time. Tyler wasn’t forcing me to move in with him, but he tried to persuade me. I must say that he was very good at it. It wasn’t surprising, though. His dad used Ty’s ability during the negotiations. He was natural at this whole business thing and I was proud to see this side of him.

I stood up from the bed and went to the bathroom to wash my face and comb my hair. Ty and I were so into each other last night, so I didn’t have the opportunity to wash my face from the makeup properly. Now I used this opportunity to take care of myself to my favor. After 10 minutes, I finally emerged myself from the bedroom, wearing some shorts and Ty’s t-shirt. I really should think at least about bringing some of my stuff here. It’s starting to be ridiculous.

I went to the kitchen and found Tyler here. He was on the phone, concerned look on his face. He saw me entering and a small smile appeared on his lips. He showed to the mug of coffee standing on the counter and I eagerly took it, sipping it and observing my man. He was shirtless and only shorts on his hips. I bit my lower lip, remembering our last night when we were back from Tasha’s place.

“Dad, I told you this a thousand times already! No... I don’t care. No... I won’t... Fuck, you’re stubborn! But you know, I am the same. The apple never falls far from the tree.”

He came closer to me, pressing himself to my back and placing his hand on my throat from behind, forcing me to turn my head to him. We looked at each other, I heard his father’s angry voice. He was talking without any stop. But Tyler didn’t give a damn about it. He placed the phone on the table, without ending the call and kissed me. His fingers sneaked under my t-shirt, exploring all the way from my belly bottom to my breasts. Our kiss intensified within a few seconds. I placed my mug back to the table and my hands sneaked up to his neck, tangling in his hair. I arched my back to him, giving better access to my body. His other hand sneaked to the waistband of shorts. I was sure, that we could have sex right here on the spot, but we both heard his father almost yelling. Tyler sighed and placed the phone to his ear.

“Are you finished?... What if I am?... You know my answer. I am not going to change it... See you in February, dad... Of course, I am coming, I never was a slacker. You know me. Dad, actually, you should have found a woman. You need to ease this tension... You too.”

When Tyler ended the call and placed the phone on the table, near my mug, he wrapped his hands around my waist and turned me around. He only did it, to lift me up and to place me on the table. He took my legs in his hands and gestured for me to wrap them around his hips, which I did with pleasure. I was leaning on my elbows, arching my back to him, his hands still on my waist. He pulled me to him and hid his face in the hollow of my neck.

“You okay? What had your dad wanted?”

“It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

“But you seem tense. So I am worried.”

“Fine... I am pissed off. But only because he ruined my surprise for you.”

“Do you really thought that my only present for you will be this boring book?”

“Hey! It’s not boring!”

“It’s not the case there... Maybe I even will borrow it to read it someday, but do you really thought, that it will be the only present I will give to the woman I love the most in the world?”

“Shhh... Wait.”

He kissed me on the forehead and disappeared in the hallway. My heart started beating very fast. I was incredibly nervous. I had a feeling, that his gift might change my whole life. I was excited and afraid at the same time.
