Chapter 24 - Dominic

Leaning back in my leather office chair, I inhaled deeply and closed my eyes. I focus in on that one connection that I now have with her and suddenly, I feel her warm, fuzzy presence. A minute later, that warm bright orange fog turned a deep violet and a different kind of adrenaline ran through my veins. She's thinking about me and not just thinking—she's imagining naughty things.

"Oh yes, smile away, yep, get it all out," Peyton interrupted my thoughts and broke the connection.

I opened my eyes and followed the darkness to the source of light that was moving in waves. Usually, it tells me someone is there.

"Oh, so you remember I am here. I've been waiting for you for the last three hours," he said in irritation.

"You sound like an angry ex-girlfriend," I grumbled and leaned forward in my seat.

"And you look like a lovestruck puppy."

"Careful what you say next, Peyton. We might be friends, but I am still your Alpha," I reminded him.

He sighed before I heard leather rubbing against each other. His aura moved directly in front of me, indicating he has sat down.

"It's bad. It's really bad," Peyton murmured, and I can hear the anxiety in his voice.

"What's wrong?" I asked, now taking it seriously.

"It's about our Luna," Peyton answered.

My heart hit my rib cage hard in fear. Peyton was not reassuring me in any way and the mention of Lilac's name didn't make it any better. In fact, I needed to know, and Peyton is taking forever to tell me what the real issue is.

"What the fuck is going on? Fucking spit it out," I growled.

"There is a rumor that has been going around that our Luna is not really our Luna. That she is, in fact, the twin sister, Lilac." Peyton said.

"That's a lie," I snarled.

"I know it's not for a fact," Peyton responded which took me aback, "I know she's Lilac because she told me who she is."

"She told you?" I narrowed my eyes towards him.

"She told me on the night that she left," Peyton replied, "but judging by your response, I'm guessing you already knew she's also not Violet."

I sighed and rubbed a hand over my face. It doesn't matter who knew first. What matters right now is that the rumor is spreading and sooner or later the Werewolf Affiliation will know. They will start snooping and sending their hellhounds out.

"How did you hear this rumor?"

"Word travels, I was in a diner. Now, our pack members are questioning if the rumors are true."

"Put a notice out to all pack members to not breathe another word, if I so much as hear them speak her name, I will not hesitate to exile them," I threatened.

"That won't stop what they are thinking, Dominic," Peyton argued.

I thought about it. No matter what kind of relationship it is, nothing should be built on lies. I am their leader and Lilac deserves to be treated as their Luna, not an outsider. She's also their leader. She deserves this much for marrying someone like me.

"Tell them the truth but no one is to speak another word until this matter is resolved."

"Alpha Nathaniel- "

Lilac's betrothed.

"What about him?"

Irrational rage.

Something I am not familiar with but when it comes to Lilac, she's mine. My mate. My Luna.

"He called today and wanted to speak to you personally. I told him you will get back to him once you are available." Peyton said slowly, gauging my reaction.

My muscle flexed and the pulsing in my temples was becoming irritably painful. I didn't think about the steps I would take to keep all this covered. I didn't think this will at all come out. I'm sure no one within my pack knew about this. Peyton did but he's Peyton, my friend. He knows me and will never betray me.

That means that this must have originated from Alpha Conner's pack and Alpha Nathaniel trying to get a hold of me is no coincidence. We met a few times, but we have no pack ties or contract. Why out of nowhere would he want to speak to me other than he has also heard of the rumor?

Clenching my teeth, I fought down the overwhelming urge to run away with Lilac. To hell with pack laws and regulations. To hell with everyone. I did not want to lose Lilac, not when I just got her.

"Did he tell you to want he wanted to speak to me about?" I asked.

"No, only that you knew why he was calling," Peyton responded.

"Damn it, Peyton," I growled, standing up to pace because I can't sit down any longer. My chair slid back and hit hard against the glass window.

"Should we wait on returning his call?"

"Call him. I will speak to him."

"You sure?" Peyton asked again.

"I have no other choice, Peyton. I have what is rightfully his even if she's fatefully mine."

I didn't go home. I ended up working to stop this unstoppable obstacle that is fast approaching our way all day but when the sunset, and it was completely dark outside, there was little hope in finding a solution.

Peyton looked through every pack law and regulation and couldn't find a single answer for a situation like this. Something was written in blood and unity between two. Nulling and voiding aren't in question. A matter of honoring the dead and completing the deal.

We read and read again the same materials. No amount of researching could give me an answer. All my life, I've raised to learn everything by the books. I know what my place is in this world. I know my importance and my punishment.

"Maybe its best if we approach the Affiliation, they might be understanding and give us leniency," Peyton suggested.

I scoffed and shook my head. I doubt it for a second that there will no punishment. There will be severe punishment.

"I mean seriously, these rules are so old. When did we last revise them?" Peyton grumbled, and I heard him throwing a book onto the pile of books on the ground.

I rubbed my temple. It was throbbing painfully at this point where I can't even focus. I have been away from Lilac for too long. A new bond like this shouldn't be this way. We should be on our honeymoon. Separation causes anxiety problems.

A soft knock on the door stopped Peyton from grumbling complaints. I looked at the door just as the doorknob twisted and slowly opened. Her scent eased the tension in my shoulders and I took a big inhale.

"Hi," she whispered shyly.

"Luna," Peyton addressed in surprise.

"I'm sorry to interrupt but you two didn't come home, so I brought you two some dinner- "

"You didn't have to, Luna, we ordered in- "

I kicked him. He let out a painful sound of surprise.

"Pick up your mess, Peyton," I said, wanting him to pick up the books before Lilac saw what they were.

I heard her soft steps coming closer and Peyton scrambling to pick up all the books he tossed onto the ground. I heard him slide even some underneath my desk and hitting my feet. Rolling my eyes at my Beta's incompetence in picking up the books fast enough, I followed Lilac's scent until it came around the table. She stood to my right.

"So, you aren't hungry?" she asked me.

"I'm hungry," I murmured.

"But you just ate like twenty-"Kick!

"Ok, I am leaving." Peyton huffed. "I know when I am not wanted and right now I am not wanted."

After I heard the door clicked behind me, I heard Lilac sat the containers of food in front of me. She opened them up one by one but before she could finish, I felt for her wrist where I wrapped my hand around it.

"What?" she asked innocently.

"I'm hungry, Lilac," I reminded her.

"I know, I'm sorry. Let me open the rest and I will-"

Laughing, I pulled her onto my lap. Nuzzling her neck, I inhaled deeply her scent. I missed her so fucking much. I'm so glad she decided to come to me. I don't know if I would have lasted another second sitting here and hearing Peyton's mumbles.

"I mean, I am hungry for a taste of my mate," I replied.

"Oh," she whispered, and I feel how shy she was through the mate bond.

Chuckling, I nibbled at her exposed shoulder and allowed my fingers at her waist to glide up her shirt.

"I think we should wait." She attempted to slip off my lap, but I held on tight.

"But I want to eat you now," I answered.

She gasped when she felt me suck on her mark.

"Oh," she moaned.

"Is that a yes?" I questioned.

My fingers went higher, caressing her skin and right below her breast.

"What are you wearing?" I asked.

"Y-your shirt," she stammered.

"Mine?" I said in surprise, stopping in my advances temporarily to pull back.

"You don't like it? I'm sorry, I only wore it because it made me feel closer to you and my wolf wouldn't leave me alone. She's so needy." She rushed to explain to me.

Chuckling, I shook my head, "You can wear anything of mine, Lilac."

"Oh ok," she replied shyly. I cupped her breast over her bra and swirled my thumb over her nipples. She moaned and arched her back.

"I missed you too," I told her.

"Did your wolf nag you all day?" she breathed.

Lifting her shirt, I pulled down her bra and captured her nipple in my mouth. She mewed and ran her fingers through my hair

"People will see, Dominic," she protested weakly.

"No one is in the building except us," I replied after nipping her nipple and moving onto the other one.

I love the taste of her. Sweet and soft. The way she feels and moves against me without knowing. It's intoxicating.

"The-the windows." She tugged on my hair hard to stop me from advancing.

"What about them?"

"People will see," she protested again.

I smirked against her breasts before pulling back and slipping off her shirt in one swift move. She gasped once again and got off from my lap as soon as my hands were off her midsections.

Damn, I should have ripped the shirt instead.

"Lilac," I frowned.

"Dominic," she teased from the other side of the desk.

"Come here," I ordered.

"If you can find me in here then you can have me," she replied.

"You do realize I am blind right?" I pointed out to her.

"Oh, I'm sor-"

In seconds, I zipped around the desk and to the opposite corner of the room. Pinning her up against the wall. She let out a shrill of surprise just as I pinned her hands up next to her head.

"You tricked me." She was pouting. I can hear it in her voice.

"I didn't. I am blind," I reasoned but feeling confident after capturing her so easily.

"Using your blindness as an advantage to get to your wife is not nice. What if next time I don't believe you?" she countered.

I cupped her cheeks and pressed my forehead up against hers. With one hand, I grabbed one of her legs and lifted her up. She straddled my hips on instinct and I pressed my already hard erection between her sweet haven.

"You will learn to know when I am teasing you and when I am not," I told her, still smiling before I captured her lips in mine.

Releasing her wrists, she wrapped her arms around my neck. My hands slipped to squeeze her butt.

Authors note:

So sorry for the long wait in an update. I am thinking about updating once again but wondering if you'll rather skip over the steamy scene or not skip? I'm warning you though, it's pretty naughty. Lol
