*4 Years 8 Months Later*
I woke up to Kelia crying in my doorway. You would think after almost six years of having a child you'd get used to waking up in the middle of the night from a small human balling their eyes out but it just never sticks.
Rookie mistake number one.
"What's wrong, sweetie? Another bad dream?" I rubbed my eyes.
She nodded as she continued crying with her teddy bear in her hands.
"Come on, baby. You can sleep with me tonight." I tapped the bed with my hand.
"Thanks mommy." She walked over to my bed and held her arms out for me to pick her up.
"Was the bad dream about daddy again?" I laid her down on her side in front of me and started rubbing her head lightly. She loved having her hair played with especially when she had a bad dream.
She nodded again, only wiping her tears this time.
"Me too, baby. Me too." I cringed at the thought of Matty. Not only do I rarely talk about him except with immediate family and Kelia only, but people never stopped asking me about him. And it fucking stinks.
"Is he ever going to come home?" her voice trembled.
"I don't know anymore, Kelia. But we got this right?" I pulled her shoulder lightly so she could face me.
"I love you mommy." She kissed my cheek.
"I love you, too." I kissed her cheek, "Lets get to bed. Mommy's got to work early and you've got school."
"Okay, mommy." She closed her eyes and snuggled her way into my chest.
There isn't a day that Matty doesn't cross my mind. Even though I thought we would never fall off, we fell off. And I know it's not his fault at all, but I don't even know if he's alive anymore.
I haven't had any contact with him in almost five years, after that phone call that one night where he talked for hours I hadn't heard from him since then. His letters stopped, his gifts stopped, his flowers every Monday, everything stopped. Including all contact to everyone else and same goes for Sammy.
They both even managed to stop getting on contact with their children.
As much as I despise him for leaving me alone, I still love him and everything about him. I wish we could've worked things out, but I needed to do the right things for not only myself but my daughter, too. And moving on was the best thing to do.
At the end of the day, it always comes down to my daughters well being and I'll throw anything away for her.
I woke up to my alarm going off right beside my ear. I must've fallen asleep looking at Matty's and my pictures from when we were together. Our picture was on the opening screen, unfortunately.
I looked down to see Kelia sleeping peacefully in my arms and it was taking my all to not just call into work sick and keep her home for the day. It breaks my heart when she has bad dreams about Matty.
"It's time to wake up princess." I kissed her cheek.
"No not today! I can't do this!" She pouted as she covered her head with my comforter blanket.
"Leave it to my child, to be the most stressed one in the house." I giggled at my joke. "Come on Princess, it's time to get ready for school. Jenny made you a new outfit."
"Jenny your stylist?" She uncovered her head a bit.
"Yes, Jenny my stylist." I chuckled as I lightly patted her on the butt.
"Okay." She uncovered her body from underneath the blanket and slid off the bed.
"Come on, let's get you a bath first. You stink!" I teased her.
"No you stink!" She shouted with a smile on her face.
"Me? How could I ever?" I played innocent.
"Hehe, you're funny mommy."
"I try to be, sweetie." I lifted her into my arms and placed her on the toilet.
I started the bath water and lifted her shirt over her head after I made sure the water wasn't too hot. "Is Luka coming over tonight?"
I met Luka just a little over two years ago through mutual friends of our own. But it wasn’t until three months ago that I realized I may or may not have feelings for him.
Feelings. What are those? I didn’t think I’d ever be able to admit to myself that I could catch feelings for anyone besides Matty. But here I am, heavily invested with this guy who I met on a beach while I was shit faced drunk.
Not only did he carefully bring me home and make sure I was in bed safely at the end of the night but he also made sure I didn’t make too much of a fool of myself. He understands this lifestyle. He understands that a single wrong photo can cause so much more problems than what it actually is. And I have the upmost respect for him because of that.
"He might. Are you okay with that, princess?" she nodded happily.
"He brings me chocolate cake when he comes over so it's okay." she giggled proudly. At least I can say my daughter eats well. “Can I bring Duma in for pet day next week?"
"Did your teacher say it was okay?"
"Yeah, we each got assigned days to bring in our pets to class." She slid her underwear and pants off.
"Well then I don't see a problem with it, what day? I'll make sure I don't work that day." I smiled at her and I helped her into the shower.
"Thursday." She shivered as her feet touched the water.
"Thursday it is then." I laughed at her shivering and turned the water up more. "What is it you want for dinner tonight?"
"I want McDonald's tonight. Is that okay mom?"
"McDonald's it is. Now let's hurry up and wash, we've got to get you ready for school. We can have a photo shoot if you hurry." I sat on the stool beside the tub and grabbed the hose from the wall and started spraying her head.
Sometimes bribing a toddler is all you can do, in order to win a battle. Guilty as charged.
"How do you feel about going to the big big city with me today?"
"The big big city? Really?" She grew excitement everywhere.
"Really." I giggled.
Kelia and I moved to Los Angeles, California when my career took a turn after I finished high school at Eastwood High, number five in my class.
I hated bringing Kelia on rides with my two security guards, not only do I get nervous from the small groups of paparazzi that appear once in a while but how reckless people drive in Los Angeles.
"Your big guy friends will be there?"
"They will be. How'd you know? Can you see the future?" I could play this kid thing all day, I think it's hilarious.
"Lucky guess." she dramatically shrugged it off like it was nothing.
"Cover your eyes, I'm going to rinse the conditioner out now."
"Can it be a little warmer?" she covered her eyes with her small hands.
"I guess so." I dramatically joked.
"I want strawberry shortcake for dessert." she asked.
"You know that's weird, I was feeling strawberry shortcake too." I giggled. “But what about the chocolate cake?”
“We can save that for later in the night mum, get with the program here!” she held her hands out and her fingers spread.
I try so hard to not laugh at her but sometimes it’s just the hardest thing I have to deal with if I’m being honest.
I finished up with scrubbing her hair and pointed the hose over top of her head where the suds had finished falling into the clear water.
Washing Kelia's hair wasn't as easy as I hoped it would be. She has beautiful dark brown tight curls that is shoulder length, and I can assure anyone who asks that it is not easy taking care of.
She gets that trait from her father.
I wrapped her in her extra large Moana towel she had got for her birthday and we walked to her room where her outfit was laid out on her bed.
Kelia looked stunning in her outfit that Jenny made especially for her. Being a well known model has its perks, meaning my daughter gets to have her own special stylist too.
Jenny had made her a unique off shoulder sunflower print top with matching shorts to go along with it and we moussed her hair up quickly so her curls were perfect and we finished off the look with a pair of her white flats.
I am raising a mini model of me.
"Alright, quick shoot before we head outside." I grabbed my Fiji instapix camera and Kelia walked over to her small runway I had paid to be built for her because she always wanted to walk with me on the runway when I was modeling gigs.
"Ready." She started posing in miscellaneous ways, some funnier than others. I held out the seven images that had popped out after each pose and I let her pick her favorite picture so I could clip it to her picture clipper along with all the other magazine worthy pictures.
"Alright Princess, come on." I grabbed ahold of her hand and walked into the living room.
"Wait here, I'm going to make sure Duma is set before we leave." I left her in the living room.
I walked to Dumas rack and grabbed a cup full of her dog food and filled her bowl. I checked her collar battery percentage on my phone and it was at eighty so I knew she was going to be able to last all day.
"Alright, we will see you for dinner Duma. Say bye to Duma." I walked over to Kelia.
"Bye Duma, we will see you for dinner and bring you a cheeseburger later." Kelia kissed the top of Duma's head.
"Alright, lets go." I grabbed ahold of Kelia's hand and we walked to the door.
I grabbed my keys and opened the door to a large figure in a black hoodie standing in the doorway.
I dropped my purse and keys out of my hand and stared at him. He had a scruffy beard, he had a dirty face with oily overgrown hair, he wasn't the Matty I had last seen. I couldn't say anything, I don't know what to say. What do you say to someone you presumed dead after not hearing from them in four and a half years?
"Mommy, who's that guy?" Kelia pulled on my shirt to attempt at helping me unfreeze.
I looked down at Kelia who was looking at me and then I looked back to Matty who was standing in the doorway. "Hi, Kiera."
"I-Uh-I-I,” I couldn’t speak. Anything that wanted to come out of my mouth—wouldn’t. What the hell am I supposed to do right now? Nothing seems like its supposed to be right now and I’m actually considering that I might be losing my mind.
“Can we talk?” Matty spoke because I couldn’t. My dead boyfriend and father of my child is standing in front of me.
“Kelia—go to your room.”
“But mom-,” she attempted to wine but I wasn’t having it right now. I can’t have it right now. She’s too old to be acting that way, anyways.
“No buts, now.” She did as I ordered leaving Matty and I alone at the doorway.
“She’s grown so much, babe-Kiera.” he stumbled over his words. He’s nervous. Shit, I am, too.
Babe. Why does my heart hurt so much at the pet name he used for me? I missed him so much. Yet, he is standing in front of me at my doorstep with a cry for help and I can’t seem to get the words out to invite him inside.
“I’m sorry to just show up unannounced, I should’ve called first.” sadness grew on his face. “I guess I’ll see you around.” he turned around and threw his bag over his shoulder before he began walking away.
“No-,” I stopped him with a small yelp. “Come in, I’m sorry. You just-,”
“Took you by surprise?” he stopped walking and turned back around with a small grin on his face. I could see the hidden smile behind his dirty beard.
“Yeah, I’m so sorry. I just—it’s been-,”
“Almost five years? Don’t apologize—please.” he pleaded and stepped into the house. “How are you?”
I walked in and stood in place against the back of the couch with my arms crossed on my chest. Duma came running to the door immediately with her ears bent back and her teeth showing when she noticed Matty.
Matty slowly bent down with his hand extended for her to sniff him and once she noticed who he was she started warming up to him faster by the second.
I watched as Duma filled him with a bunch of kisses and continued jumping on him. He noticed me watching him, "You going to say anything instead of just staring at me?"
I opened my mouth but nothing came out, I wanted to say something to him. Kiss him, hug him, all of the above. But I didn't bulge. I grabbed my phone from my back pocket and I dialed Roxy's number as I walked out of the room.
"Hello?" she answered.
I walked away and into my bedroom where I shut the door behind me before I spoke, "Hey. You busy?"
"Getting ready to head over to the school, what's up?"
"Could you swing by and get Kelia?" I started whispering, "It's an emergency."
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Everything is great.” I lied. “Could you do that for me though?"
"Yeah, I'm leaving now." she hung up the phone.
Hey Jackie, there's been an emergency and I'm going to be maybe an hour or two late. Is that cool?
I sat myself on my bed and locked my phone before laying backwards.
Totally fine. Text me when you're on your way.
Thank you, so much.
I heard a light knock at the door, "Come in."
The door slowly crept open and Matty walked in, "Can we talk?"
"I just called work, we've got two hours." I said awkwardly.
"It took me forever to find your place, it's really nice." he sat on the bed beside me, "Did you buy this yourself?"
Is he really talking to me about my apartment after he disappeared for almost five years? "I rent it, I have one in New York and Paris, too."
"You've been to Paris?" I didn't look at him but I could feel his eyes on me. I can’t look at him. I should be feeling relief that he’s alive. I should be feeling extremely happy that my daughter could potentially have her biological father in her life after all. But instead I’m beginning to feel a small pebble of anger that I can feel growing the longer we sit here and talk about apartments.
"Yeah, one of the main branches is over there."
"That's cool, that's cool." he said awkwardly.
"I'm going to go check on Kelia." I stepped away from the bed. I realized he hasn't seen his daughter in five years, and he probably would like to introduce himself. "Would you like to come see her?"
"You're her father, you don't need to ask." I walked away before he could see the tears forming from the anger and amount of hurt I’m feeling.
"Alright, thanks." he walked behind me and followed me down the hallway to Kelia's room and I lightly knocked on her door before entering, "Hey Princess. I have someone here who would like to introduce themself."
She stopped playing with her princess castle and she walked up to Matty and I, "You remember daddy?"
She nodded her head at me and then looked at Matty, "Yeah. When is he coming home?"
"Well, baby. He's right here, this is daddy." I bent over and picked her up.
"I thought daddy was out saving the world?" she looked at Matty with a confused and scared look on her face.
"Yeah. Yeah he was, but now he's home."
"Is he staying forever?" I studied his body and face once Kelia popped the question. Does he have a place to stay? Does he have clothes to change into? A shower to get the dirt from his face?
"I don't know, princess." I glanced at him while I fixed her shirt.
"I'm here, for good if you'll have me." he smiled at Kelia and glanced at me.
How do I process my boyfriend who I presumed to be dead after almost five years of no contact coming home? Is this even his home? Would he move out here? Is there even a we?
Luka. I should cancel my plans with him before he sees me on my lunch break and expects a kiss. He wasn’t my boyfriend. But we kissed here and there and maybe I’d let him hold my hand sometimes but not in public.
I leaned Kelia towards him so he could hold her if he wanted but she immediately grasped to me and hid her face in my shoulder. "What's wrong baby? Don't you remember daddy?"
She didn't respond, instead she just kept her face hidden. "I'm so sorry, she knows who you are. I don't know why she's acting like this."
"It's okay. Is it okay if I shower?" he took a step back and sadness was under all the dirt and hair.
"Yeah. Hang on a second and I'll help you get set up after Roxy gets here for Kelia."
"Roxy." he said distantly, "How are Roxy and Allen?"
"They're good. He proposed to her a few months back, their wedding is actually in August and they moved out here to help me out with Kelia and to be closer to us." I lightly bounced Kelia as she continued to tightly grasp onto me.
"Wow, congrats to them. Maybe I can stop by some time and congratulate them?" he asked. Why is he asking? That’s his daughters uncle and aunt, he never has to ask to speak with anyone let alone my family.
"Are you hungry? I can make you breakfast or order some food?" I noticed he was incredibly skinny.
"Uh yeah, that sounds nice." he lightly smiled at me, "I could use a good meal."
"I can have Garrett run and get you something, if you'd like?"
"Garrett?" his posture grew straighter and he cleared his throat with a heavy cough of jealousy.
"Yeah, Garrett and Ricky are my security guards."
"Only your security guards?" I could feel the tension building in the room.
"Well yeah. Why else would I have two big ass guys follow me around town for?" I chuckled at the jealousy.
"Security guards for what?" I heard the buzzer at the front door.
"Here, come with me." I walked him to my office and searched my name on the official IMG model website. It was the best thing I could think of where he could see everything in the gist of five minutes. "Sit and look."
Long enough for me to get Kelia to Roxy and get them out the door without him being noticed. I'm not entirely sure if I'm ready for everyone to know the man I loved and assumed was dead, is actually alive and showed up at my doorstep.
I walked out of the room and shut the door behind me with Kelia on my hip. "You okay baby?"
"Why does daddy look like that?"
"I don't know, baby. But remember, family is everything and we will be there for him through the rest of it, okay?" I kissed the side of her head.
"Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind." she quoted her favorite movie, Lilo and Stitch.
"Exactly, Princess. Now let's get you to school." I started tickling her while walking to the front door to let Roxy in. I've been making her wait long enough.
"Hey, everything okay? I was starting to worry." Roxy barged in the front door once I opened it.
"Relax, everything will be fine. But I really need you to get her to school on time." I set Kelia on her feet and held her book bag out for her to slip her arms into the sleeves.
"Will be fine? Why isn't everything fine now?" she began to worry, I could see it in her eyes.
"Just give me time, okay? I'll explain everything later." I whisper shouted at her. "Thank you for doing this. I love you baby." I kissed Kelia on top of her head and she walked out of the front door with Roxy as I shut the door on them.
I took a deep breath when I shut the door and laid my back against the door in relief that one problem of ninety nine are solved for a bit. I rubbed my face with the palm of my hands trying to release some of the stress building up inside of me but that wasn't going to work.
I need a full body massage after today.
"I need a drink." I mumbled to myself and made my way to the kitchen. I walked to the alcohol cabinet that was high enough so Kelia couldn't get into it and I grabbed a drinking glass with the glass crystal bottle of Bourbon whiskey and I poured myself a shot worth.
Head up, one down.
I poured myself nearly the same amount as last time.
Head up, two down.
This time I poured a mouth fulls worth of the brown liquid.
Head up, three down.
I now feel confident enough to go upstairs and talk to Matty about whatever it is we are about to talk about.
I poured myself a half a glass of the bourbon and I walked upstairs to my office. When I walked in I saw Matty sitting at the desk with his head stuffed in the computer.
"Holy fuck." he muttered under his breath. I don't think he actually realizes I'm in the room. I waited a minute more to really take in his view. And the more I stared, the more butterflies I felt as I realized it really was him sitting in front of my laptop.
"What are you looking at?" I giggled and he jumped a little.
"Everything. Babe you're fucking famous." he realized what he had said and buried himself back into the computer, "Sorry. I didn't mean-,"
"Matty, it's fine." Golly, did I miss his sweet voice and his sweet cute pet names. I couldn't help but smile and blush.
"Your pictures are stunning, and you've done so much for the community. And you're just as perfect as you were five years ago." he chuckled. I’m glad he recognizes my talent because sometimes I don’t see what everyone makes a big deal about me for.
"You want to hop in the shower now? I only have two hours before I have to go to work." I'm sure my face was turning crimson red by now and I didn't know what to say. I'm so nervous.
"Yeah, yeah that's cool." he closed the laptop while walking around my desk and he followed me down the hallway to the master bathroom in my bedroom.
"Alright, I only have women's shampoo and body wash but I can have Garrett get some of that too if you want to use mine for now. But anything you need is either in this cupboard or in this drawer. Here's a new tooth brush, and here's a towel for you." I handed him everything on top of the towel.
"Thank you, Kiera."
"Yeah, of course. You're welcome." this is so awkward.
"Do you need help with the water?" I stood there just as awkwardly as I was a minute ago.
"I think I've got it, thanks." he smirked at me as he got closer to me.
"Are you okay?" I couldn't help but ask. He looks a mess.
"I am, now that I'm visiting you." he took a step forward.
"Just visiting?" Of course, he's only here temporarily. Like I said, I didn't even know if there was an us anymore.
"Well I'm going home to my parents' house, until I can get back on my feet and get back to health and move out here close to Kelia and you." Does he honestly think I wouldn't let him move back in with me? That I'd keep him away from his daughter because he didn't have a place to stay?
"Don't be silly." I stopped him where he was before he started talking again, "We're a family and when I was in need you gave me the world, the same goes for you."
"You sure? I don't want to be a burden on you or Kelia."
Screw it, I'm just going to wing it.
I walked over to Matty and wrapped my arms around his shoulders tightly and it took a couple seconds for him to wrap his arms tightly around my torso, "I'm so happy you're home."
"Home." he muttered to himself.
I unpacked a few boxes of clothes I had packed away of his. I could never bring myself to sell it or donate it. It felt like the final step, and I wasn't completely over him. I never actually will be completely over him, he will always hold a special place in my heart. Future or not.
I laid on my bed with Duma watching a Criminal Minds re-run when my phone vibrated.
Hey bae wyd?
Perfect timing, Luka. My long lost boyfriend just showed up at my doorstep after I presumed him dead. What do you think I’m doing?
Getting ready for work. Hbu?
Smokin nd hanging with Kenny. Wyd later for lunch? I wanted to take you to a new place that just opened up.
Quick, Kiera. Think of a good lie.
I’ll probably be at the studio all day, I’m going in super late because I woke up late but we can probably plan something for tomorrow? I’ll ask for the afternoon off?
Okay bae am I seeing you tonight?😘
Unsure yet. I’ll lyk?
Yeah is everything okay? You seem off and Jack just told me you took a week off work?
Everything is fine. We will talk tomorrow over breakfast, babe.
I had to lie. I can’t break both Matty’s and Luka’s hearts right now. I just can’t do that to myself or them.
Matty came out different than when he went into the bathroom, way different. His entire face was clean shaved and he had his overgrown hair in a small bun with a bunch of tattoos on his chest and arms. To top it off, he was shirtless and wrapped in a towel from the waist down.
He looked sexy.
"Kiera?" Matty was snapping in the air in front of him.
"Even when I'm malnourished you still can't keep your eyes off of me." he chuckled.
"Uh, Garrett brought your breakfast for you while you were showering. I ordered you two Grand Slams from Denny's. And I ordered Postmates while you were in there and got you some milkshakes to help with your malnutrition." I held the two bags in both of my hands towards him.
"You can sit if you want, unless you want to go to the table. I've got to get ready for work, so you can change the channel."
"Gosh, television." he smirked at the large flatscreen above my marble white fireplace.
"Can I ask what happened? You and Sammy just dropped your existences." I stood up from the bed and walked over to my dresser.
"Yeah, uh. That's going to have to be for another night, where we are alone." he hesitated to say and I looked back to see his eyes looking down at his hands that were trembling horribly. I don't know what happened to him and Sammy, but whatever it was I can tell that it wasn't any good.
"I can ask Roxy and Allen to keep her overnight, if you want it to be just us tonight."
"I think it's best she stays here tonight, maybe she will warm up to me." he said with no emotion.
"How is Sammy? I assume he's back with you?"
"He's in the hospital, he's going to be there for a long time." he started to look uneasy and started snapping a rubber band on his wrist aggressively.
"Hey, hey, hey. What's wrong babe?" I walked over and sat on his lap with my arm around his neck and I forced him to look at me. He had tears in his eyes and he had lost all the remaining color he had in his face.
"What's wrong baby?" I kissed his cheek. It felt so natural calling him babe-baby.
He started crying into my chest and wrapped his arms around my torso tightly, "I'm just so happy to be back home with you."
"Shh, shh. I'm here, we're here." I kissed the top of his head and coddled him to my chest.
"Come here." I lifted myself from his lap and I slid my way to the head of the bed and held my arms out for him.
"I'm still in love with you, Kiera. I've never stopped loving you." his voice cracked as he laid his head on my chest and I wrapped my arms around his body.
"I know, Matty. And I never stopped loving you." I kissed the top of his head and slowly started brushing my hand through his hair.
"Get some rest, my love." I grabbed the small cover blanket beside me and flew it out so it covered the majority of his body.
"Do you want some coffee, honey?" I offered Matty as I watched him start to wake up on my chest.
"What time is it? How long did I sleep for?" he rubbed the tiredness from his eyes.
"It's about quarter of five. How'd you sleep?" throughout his sleep he hadn't let go of my waist, not a single budge. I rubbed my hand on the side of his head caressing his hair.
"What about work? Didn't you have to go to work?" he sat himself up from my chest.
"Don't worry, I called Jackie and explained what was going on. She gave me the rest of the week off." I'm sure he's happy to hear that.
"And where's Kelia?" he started rubbing his eyes again.
"I decided to have her go to Roxy's house for a little bit after school so you could sleep peacefully. She should be here in a half hour, she requested McDonald's and strawberry shortcake for dinner so we are going to the big big city." I smothered my knees to my chest and wrapped my arms around them.
"The big big city?" he lightly chuckled.
"Oh it's right down town, but since she was little she's always called it the big big city for some reason." I giggled at the memory. "Do you want to go with?"
"Anywhere you go, I'm going." he sighed, "Please don't leave me alone."
"Of course not." I leaned over and kissed his cheek. "Come on, let's get dressed."
"Dressed to go get McDonald's?"
"You're making your first official appearance with your model girlfriend, do you want to look like you just woke up from bed?"
"So you're still my girlfriend?" he let out a sigh of relief.
"Well I was just," I paused for a second, "Assuming."
"You assumed right." he threw himself up from bed with a small smile on his face, "What all do you have of mine?"
"Well I kept all of your clothes, they're in the basement if you want me to go grab them?"
"Yeah, uh I don't do good with basements." he rubbed the back of his neck.
Maybe that's the start of what happened? That's a hint, isn't it?
"Go ahead and look through this box here, it's filled with clothes and a couple things of yours. I'll be right back with another one." I gave him a small squeeze on the shoulder before leaving the bedroom.
I wasn't going to just bring any box upstairs, no. I need to make sure it's his nice clothing, even though the style is so five years ago. I continued looking through the boxes, one after another and I finally found the one I was looking for. I carried it upstairs and walked into my bedroom to see no sight of Matty.
I set the box on the bed and heard a buzzing noise in the bathroom.
"Matty?" I walked slowly into the bathroom. I found him using his electric clippers I had bought him for his birthday and he was shaving his head but there was enough hair left over to not show any of his scalp. Kind of like how his old hairstyle was before he left.
"Hey, I swear I'll make it fast and clean it up." he smirked at me in the reflection of the mirror as he shut the clippers off and set them on the counter.
"Don't worry about it, I'll get it. I put a box of your nicer clothing on the bed, if you want to go look for something." I smiled at his cuteness. I walked out of my bedroom and grabbed the broom and dustpan from inside the basement door.
I walked in my bedroom to see Matty looking at himself in the mirror with a nice gray long sleeved shirt that was a tad looser on him than what it was before from all the weight he lost, a black pair of skinny jeans, with his original Adidas shoes on.
At least he's the same shoe size.
I noticed his pants were sagging a bit more than they should be, so I walked into my closet and grabbed him the manliest belt I owned.
"Thanks, babe." he lightly smirked at me.
"You look good." I viewed his outfit.
"What are you wearing?"
"I'm not sure yet." I started looking through my closet where I kept my nicer apparel.
I heard the buzzer from the living room ring, "Would you mind getting that?"
"Uh, yeah sure." he walked away.
I decided to go with my white tank crop top that had the gold Louis Vuitton in the center with my black skinny jeans that had rips going down the center of them and a pair of my heeled black suede boots. I finished off the look with Matty's football jacket that had Santiago on the back of it and I made my way into the living room while applying a thick layer of my favorite lip gloss.
"Mommy!" Kelia ran over to me with her arms pried out and slams herself into my legs.
"Hi princess! How was school today?" I glanced up to see Matty and Roxy having a staring contest.
"It was so much fun, mom! Everyone is so excited to see Duma."
"That's so cool!" I over exaggerated, it wasn't cool at all. It was just a dog coming into class, but kids are kids. "Why don't you go get some jeans and a sweater on so we can go to the big big city?"
"Yay! The big big city!" she ran off screaming into her bedroom.
I walked over to Roxy and Matty, "Hey guys. I see you've finally seen each other."
"Is that really Matty? Are you sure it isn't someone else?" her eyes jolted to me.
"Wow. I'm right here, you know." he made as a side comment.
"It's Matty, I know it's him. And he's home for good."
"Home? He is staying here?" she looked disappointed.
"Well, yeah. I am his girlfriend and the mother of his child?" I took offense to the way her voice sounded when she said that.
"Is it really you, Matty?" she glanced at him again.
"Yeah, it's really me." as soon as he finished his sentence she flew her arms around him and hugged him like there was no tomorrow.
"Oh god, we all missed you so much." she started crying. "And Sammy too. We missed you both so much."
"Yeah, we missed you guys too." he finally hugged her back.
"We're going to stop by tomorrow night, if that's okay?"
"Of course it is, you don't have to ask." her phone started ringing.
"Hello?" she answered it.
"Alright, calm down babe. I'll be right there." she hung up the phone.
"What's going on?" I looked at her confused.
"There's another moth in our bedroom and you know how petrified Allen is of those things." she started giggling. "I better head out before he has a heart attack."
"Thank you so much for everything you did today, I sent you money through cashapp."
"Thanks boo, I'll see you guys tomorrow." she gave air kisses to Matty and I and she shut the door behind her.
"Well that was weird." Matty finally said something after she left.
"Yeah, I would have to agree."
"Mom I don't know which shoes to wear." Kelia sat herself on the couch with two pairs of shoes with her.
"Hmmm, I think you should go with the gold Adidas ones."
"I'm going to love seeing that jacket on you, more often." he whispered to me and brought me into his chest.
"Yeah? I can't wait to show it off like how I show off the ring and necklace you got me." I rested my head on his shoulder and let him hug me.
"You still wear those?" he pulled me away from his chest but kept his hands on my arms.
"Everyday." I pulled the necklace out of my shirt and showed him with a smile.
"Okay, Mommy. I'm ready to go."
"Perfect, lets go." I held my hand out for her to grab it and we walked out of the house as a family. "You ready for your first rodeo?"
"Oh yeah, bring it on me." he lightly chuckled.
I showed Matty and Kelia around town. Of course, we had to have Garrett and Ricky with us at all times but they kept their distance. Matty was just as surprised as Kelia when she saw how many people were going to be taking pictures of us together.
"You ready to head back home, Princess?" I asked Kelia as I noticed she was starting to get sleepy while walking down The Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
"Kind of. But if daddy wants to stay out we can." she rubbed her eye with her fist while holding my hand with the other.
"I'd say it's time to hit the sheets, huh?" he kneeled down to Kelia and picked her up from the ground.
"Yeah, I guess so. We can have more fun tomorrow." she rubbed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Garrett, Ricky? We're going to head home now." I called them from behind and in front of us.
"So how was it?" I laid myself underneath the perfectly made bed.
"How was what?" he laid himself underneath the blanket beside me.
"Your first outing with your model girlfriend, silly." I lifted my arm up and welcomed him into my arms and he rested his head on my stomach while looking straight at me.
"You deal with that everytime you go out?"
"Most of the time, sometimes I'm able to pull off a good enough disguise to get me down the streets. That's why Garrett and Ricky are always around." I chuckled, newbies. "Want to do the fun part now?"
"What's that?" he looked at me confused.
I grabbed my phone from my nightstand and unlocked it.

"Look." I laughed at the articles that had already sprung on the internet.
"We just got home a half hour ago. How is it possible that they already have these many articles?" he started swiping down on my screen.
"Go ahead and click images." he turned so both of us could see the screen.
"Oh, I like this one." he clicked on a photo of both Matty and I holding Kelia's hands and swinging her around.
"Did you call your parents to let them know you're home?"
He stopped swiping on the screen and took in a deep breath, "Not yet. I had to see you guys, first. It took me three days to find out where you were."
"Yeah, I went back to the apartment but you weren't there. So I called a friend of mine and had him run your name through the system so I could find out where you lived." he laid my phone screen up on the bed.
"I'm sorry, that you had to go through whatever it is you went through." I didn't know what else to say.
"It's not your fault baby, don't ever think it's your fault."
"We can go shopping tomorrow and get you some clothes, if you'd like."
"You don't mind?" he looked at me.
"You helped me in time of need, so I'm going to do the same. We are in this together." I lightly kissed his lips and reached over to turn off my lamp.
My phone vibrated.
What am I seeing all over the internet? I thought you were busy?
“Who’s Luka?” Matty lifted himself up from the bed and sat up straight.
