Chapter 17: Angry Bad Boy

“Are you okay?” I heard Ace asked as soon as my eyes closed. I opened them again to look at his concerned face while I looked at him confusingly. We were in the park and I wanted to relax a bit, so we set ourselves on the grass.

“Yeah, I am” I replied, trailing the words and he rose his head to look at the sky.

“I mean, after yesterday” he said and I took a deep breath. I knew that this talk was going to happen. I knew Ace wouldn’t let go of it so easily.

“Yes, I am fine” I replied and rested my head on Ace’s jacket. He wasn’t wearing it so i decided to use it as a pillow.

“Don’t lie” he muttered and pulled my hands so that I was sitting, facing his beautiful face.

“I’m not” I snapped and rolled my eyes. “Drop it Ace” I pleaded and he frowned.

“Does she do that every time you meet her?” he questioned, making me groan. He was so fucking damn stubborn.

“Yes, that’s why I’m taking it well” I said and pulled my hand from his. Not that well! My mind screeched when my eyes dropped to my wrist. “You should really stop, you know?” I said with a grin and watched as he frowned. “I’m really starting to think that you actually care” I joked and he didn’t say a word but simply stare at me.

“I care about you” he whispered, after a few seconds of staring. Sincerity burnt in his eyes and I gave him a little smile before pecking his cheeks.

“I care about you too” I said and pulled away to see Ace’s eyes closed as if he was trying to control himself. But then, he opened his eyes and wrapped his arms around my waist. My eyes widened when I realized that I was now sitting on his lap with his head buried in the crook of my neck. He wrapped his hands around me and I hugged him back. I liked this feeling. I like being in his arms. I like hugging him. But I hated the feeling that I was getting. Butterflies were flying in my stomach. I pulled away and he rested his forehead against mine, his eyes on my lips.

“Angel?” I heard a masculine voice called from behind. Ace took a deep breath and as I turned to look who it was. Josh! I smiled and got off Ace’s lap to take Josh in a hug. “What are you doing here?” he questioned in his protective voice eyeing Ace who was standing up. “Why aren’t you not in school?” he asked, now glaring at me.

“For the first time in my life I’m ditching” I lied and now he glared at Ace.

“First time? Yeah sure” He said sarcastically and I chuckled. “That’s the fifth time I’m catching you ditching” he scolded and I shrugged.

“I had to face the dragon yesterday! I wasn’t in the mood to study” I said grimly and his face softened.

“Each fucking time you meet her, you become a wreck” he said and rubbed my arm while looking at my wrist. He knew that I used to cut my wrist.

“Yeah, but not now” I lied and gave him a reassuring smile.

“Sure?” he trailed and lifted my hand. As soon as I knew what he was about to do, I pulled my hand and took a step backward making me crash in Ace’s chest.

“What happen to your hand?” Ace questioned again and my eyes widened. Josh glared at me and I could see fury in his eyes.

“You fucking promised!” he shouted and Ace seemed taken back by his outburst. Suddenly, I felt a hand wrapped around my wrist.

“I need some explanations” Ace said and I struggled against his grasp.

“Ace, let me go” I shouted.

“Why are you hiding the fact that you’re fucking weak, Angel?” Josh asked with a humorless chuckle and I cringed at his words and i felt tears run down my cheeks. He hated the fact that I’d say that I would stop but I’d continue to cut myself.

“Dude! Stop talking!” Ace growled at Josh who simply glare at him.

“You don’t fucking know her, so you shut up!” Josh sneered and once his eyes fell on me, his face softened. “Angel, you need help” he said softly and I shook my head while glaring at the ground. I didn’t have the courage to look at him.

“I don’t need help! I’m perfectly fine” I argued and he shook his head.

“Can someone explain what the fuck is going in?” Ace demanded and I shook my head at Josh, pleading him not a say a thing.

“Tell him” Josh ordered and I stared at him with wide eyes.

“I-I can’t” I stuttered panicking. Josh rolled his eyes and took my wrist in his hand. I closed my eyes as he rolled up my sleeve to show my fresh mark.

“Holy fuck!” I heard Ace gasp. I opened my eyes tentatively and saw him running his hand in his hair and frustration, anger and confusion. He was fuming. He looked at me in disbelief then curled his fist. He made his way to the tree and punch the hell out of it. I could see blood dripping from his knuckles. He did that because of me? I glared at Josh and rolled down my sleeves. I hesitantly made my way to him and put my hand on his back. I could feel him freeze under my touch. “When were you going to tell me?” he demanded with his back still facing me.

“I-I” I stuttered again and close my eyes because I know that I wasn’t planning on telling him.

“You were never going to tell me, right?” he questioned and turned to face me. Josh simply shook his head and walked away, knowing that we needed some privacy.

“I-I d-didn’t want to bother anyone with that small problem” I explained, feeling damn weak. “and I’ve known you for like one week or so” I added.

“We just admitted that we cared for each other, right?” he asked laughing humorlessly. I sighed and took a step backward.

“What are you expecting? That I’d just trust you within a second and tell you all my shitty problems?” I exclaimed now. I was tired of everyone telling me that I was doing was wrong. I know that it’s wrong! But I can’t just stop like this. He huffed in annoyance and rose his hand. I flinched and hide my face.
