#42 He is a rich arrogant guy

Ella.

I tiptoed through the staff way and reached the pool.

There was no one there, and I glanced around. My heeled shoes echoed in the silent room and I took my phone out to call Jyothi.

I was searching through the contacts as I felt the presence of someone. I looked up and froze.

In front of me, in all the glory, was the guy I was looking for. His upper body was naked and glistened with water and his lower body covered with the towel.

I know I should turn around, but his eyes were fixed on me and the intensity of it transfixed me on the spot, making me unable to move.

My heart started to pound and goosebumps erupted all over my body as I stared back.

My eyes dropped slightly, and I saw the red colour mark across his chest and biceps as if someone has whipped him with a chain.

I turned back to his eyes. He was looking at me in shock. Apparently, he couldn't believe that someone was there.

"Um..." I cleared my throat. "I am... sorry to interrupt you like this but-" I stopped as the guy moved towards me.

I took a deep breath and started again. "I am Cinderella Adams, the MD of-" the rest of my words were cut short as his lips claimed mine, causing me to jerk in shock.

Before I could even push him off, I became aware of his strong muscular hands wrapping around me.

The electric wave that I felt at the contact was shocking, and I froze in my spot. He wrapped me against his half-naked body and forced me to open my lips for him.

The front of my dress was somewhat wet from being hugged to him, and I tasted the wine as he tilted my head up to deepen the kiss. I closed my eyes in a daze and felt his warm, firm lips moving against mine.

My phone and the file slipped out of my grip and fell down with a loud thud. I opened my eyes in shock.

As soon as I was back in my senses, I tried to push back from his embrace. I put my hand against his chest and nudged him back slightly. He refused to budge, and I shoved him back again, causing him to step back this time.

Our eyes met. It startled me to see the raw emotions inside his eyes.

"I love you, Princess..." he whispered. His eyes were filled as he gazed at me, and that was everything that needed to crash me back to the present.

"You...you are drunk!" I exclaimed. I realised that it was not the best time to visit him.

His eyes widened slowly. "You...are... really...here..." he looked startled suddenly. "You... are... real, not my... imagina-"

"Let go of me first!" I panicked, but he was still clutching me tightly, looking in between my eyes, like someone who was just woken up.

So I did the only thing I could, I pushed him away from me and took a step backwards.

"Hey-"

"Don't touch me!"

I am shaken up. My lips were still tingling from the kiss and my body was reacting strangely, causing me to freak out.

I shook away his hand that tried to grab me and took another step back.

"Watch your-"

Obviously, his warning was too late as I lost my footing and found myself flying through the air.

Splash-

The water pricked my body before I was completely immersed in it.

I am not much of a swimmer, but I am not pathetic either. But as it startled me, I could only struggle in the water as I tried to take deep breaths.

A few seconds later, I find myself being lifted, and I clutched him for dear life as I coughed.

"I got you," he said as I gasped for air. "Relax, you are safe."

I realised that I have been struggling in his arms and stopped. Our eyes met once again, and I felt like I am getting pulled in them.

"You okay?" His voice came out in a whisper and I nodded slowly.

"Let's move?"

I nodded again.

"Then you will have to... let me go, so that... I can help you,"

I just realised that I was clutching him tightly, and we were too close. I removed my hands from around his shoulder with a gasp. I shivered as his arms came around me to hold my waist to support me.

He moved me to the side and gently lifted me to the side of the pool.

I was cold and dripping wet as I sat there, wondering how in the heck did I end up in a situation like this.

He was only wearing swimming boxer shorts as he lifted himself from the pool and approached me.

His eyes ran over me and I realised that I am completely drenched. My clothes were see-through and were sticking to my body. I placed my hand against my chest to hide the revealing skin.

His muscles flexed as he lowered to me and covered me in a fresh towel.

I looked away from him and tried to clutch the edges of the towel with my shivering hands.

"Cinderella," his voice was surprisingly gentle. "Are you here to meet me?"

The warmth in his tone made me look back to him. I am surprised that he is calling me my first name.

"I... I am... the MD... of-"

"I know," he said. "but why are you here at this time?"

"I wanted to meet you about... Er... before that, can you... um, put on some... clothes?" I shivered slightly.

"I think you should change first-"

"I...am okay, please...change and come back, so I can... talk..."

"But you cannot catch a col-" he stopped midway and straightened. "Wait for me, I will be back in five minutes," he said, and I nodded stiffly.

He disappeared to the shower side, and I sat there, thinking about what the heck just happened.

He mistook me for someone else as he kissed me. He was in a trance while he watched me.

I touched my lips.

He just stole my first kiss! And he was thinking about someone else when he kissed me!

And given the circumstances, I am in no position to complain. First thing, I didn't stop him from kissing me as it shocked me and didn't see it coming at all! The second thing is I just sneaked inside here, so it's partly my fault to have caught him off guard.

"Please follow me,"

I whipped around in surprise at his tone. He was wearing a white robe as he moved towards a door.

I got up slowly and followed him.

he opened the door to his suite and waited for me there, keeping the door open.

I followed him slowly and stopped at the doorway.

"Why? Are you scared to come inside?" his voice was slightly mocking. I could understand the underlying message- 'you sneaked in here, then why are you hesitating now?',

"Um... I am... my clothes are... dripping, I would ruin-"

"Come in, Cinderella," he opened the door wide and walked inside.

I took a deep breath and followed him inside.

His suit was huge and designed in modern style.

He disappeared from my sight and I stayed in the middle of the room awkwardly.

Oh shit! I forgot the files!

I turned around to the poolside and stilled. There was a long trail of water from the door to the place where I was standing.

Michael.

My heart was pounding so loudly that I feared that it could be heard from outside. I grabbed a robe and walked outside.

"You can-" I stopped as I couldn't find her in the hall. I was suddenly scared that she had run away.

I remembered the time when I first kissed her from my house and the way she ran away.

"Cinderella-"

I stopped as I spotted her near the door to the pool.

"I... I forgot to take the file and my phone," she turned around at my footsteps.

"Change before you catch a cold first," I walked to her and gave her the robe. "You can take a shower from inside the guest room,"

"But... I don't have any clothes."

I was trying my best to look at her face, but her statement just made me run my eyes down her again. I wanted to grab her to me here and now and kiss her once again, but I controlled myself.

My eyes came back to her red face and caught sight of an accusing glint in her eyes. I think she has caught me checking her out.

"Um... I-" she started.

"Freshen up and come, we will figure out a solution then," I reached for her hand, then stopped midway.

She hesitated a moment.

"I don't want to talk to you when you are standing here like this," I said. She took the robe reluctantly and walked to the guest room rather unwillingly.

As soon as she disappeared, I touched my heart.

Ella.

I looked in the mirror and sighed. I don't know what I am doing here anymore.

I can just call my PA and ask him to get me a change of cloth that I always keep in the car, but I don't know if he can come inside.

I dried my hair and looked at my bare face, devoid of any makeup.

Okay, I am not here to impress the guy, anyway. I should be clear about my demands. I want him to listen to my opinion on this matter.

I opened the door and walked out. The overwhelming smell of melting cheese reached me and I walked to the side.

I was unprepared for the sight in front of me. The CIO of Spark technology was cooking his food in the open kitchen. He had changed to casual pants and t-shirt that fit him perfectly and looked good in them.

He looked up as I stayed there.

"It's time for dinner, would you like some?" he asked me casually.

"No, Thanks, I am here to talk about-"

"There is a hairdryer on the table, you can use it," he pointed to the table.

But I am fine!

I wanted to say it aloud, but I remembered Mama's words.

"He is a tough guy to get along with."

Well, I better get on his good side.

"Thank you," I grabbed it and walked back to the guest room.

Once I made sure that my hair is completely dry and I looked decent, I walked back.

My stomach growled at the yummy smell coming from the kitchen.

"Cinderella," my heart jumped at his tone and I turned to the side.

He had drawn open the curtain so that the city lights were visible from the place.

He had already arranged the table with two plates opposite to each other.

"Can we have dinner before we talk?" He turned to me and asked.

But I told you, I don't want dinner!

"I... um... sounds good," I smiled.

He looked amused as he smiled back.

I bit my lips and walked to the glass table that was overlooking the city. He held the chair for me.

This guy knows how to treat a girl! I wouldn't be surprised if he is a player!

The image of him kissing me appeared in my mind and I shook my head slightly.

What the heck! I should focus here!

"Is something wrong?" He asked me and I shook my head quickly. "The food is great," I took a bite and said and was surprised as it was really great.

He smiled at me. "Then help yourself," he said.

"Er... sir, I heard you are leaving tomorrow-"

"Michael," he said.

"Mm?" I looked at him in confusion.

"Call me, Michael."

"But you are... the CIO of-"

"I prefer Michael, you can be comfortable around me," he said. "I guess Cinderella came here without your Ma... chairperson's knowledge."

"Yeah, she said you are leaving tomorrow, so I had to... um, talk to you, sorry to... interrupt you like this."

There, I said it. Now it's his turn to tell me sorry for kissing me.

"That's okay, I was free today," he shrugged. "But I hope you would call me the next time you want to meet, Cinderella."

I winced slightly at the name. Then registered what he had just said.

Next time?

What does he mean? Isn't he going back tomorrow?

"Please call me, Ella," I said. "Everyone does so," I added quickly. I don't want him to think it's anything special.

"May I get your number?"

"It was there in the-"

"I meant your personal number," he said, and I stilled.

What's the deal with this guy? Why is he asking me my personal number?

"I understand if you don't want to give me your number-"

"No, it's fine," I smiled. "9........."

"Okay," he nodded.

He is not even going to feed it on his phone?

The doorbell rang as we finished dinner.

I looked at the clock. It was at half-past 11. So, I looked at him.

He was expecting someone?

"Aren't you opening the door?" I asked.

"That's not necessary," he said, and I watched him.

Was he expecting a girl?

My question was answered as a young woman walked inside.

Ha! I was right-

The girl's eyes widened at the sight of me, and my heart skipped a beat.

I cannot let her misunderstand the situation! I am wearing a bathrobe and having dinner with the CIO of Spark technologies!

"Er... I am-"

"Madam Cinderella Adams!" She exclaimed. "It's a pleasure to meet you," she came towards me with a warm smile. "I am Juri... Juri Fang! I am-"

"The Special Assistant!" I nodded. "we worked together on this deal," I am pleasantly surprised.

I offered her my hand, and she shook it.

"It's nice to meet you," she said.

The CIO cleared his throat and both of us looked at him.

"Oh...here are your clothes," Juri said and rise a paper bag. "I hope you would like it."

My eyes turned to him accusingly, "why did you make her do it this late!?"

"It was my pleasure to help, Ma'am, I am truly happy to meet you."

"Please call me, Ella, Juri, we are not strangers, we worked together for the last three months," I said and she beamed.

"Then I will see you, Ma'am-Ella," she replied, and I smiled.

Soon she walked outside, and I turned to the guy in front of me.

"Thank you," I said unwillingly. "I will change and come back," I said, and he nodded.

I had expected the dress to be having some problem, so I was surprised as it fit me perfectly.

I sure am glad that his PA was a girl as I don't even want to think about a guy buying undergarments for me!

I was even more surprised at the sneakers that fit perfectly.

Juri had also placed a pack of my favourite make-up and I placed it in the room.

I won't take it.

I looked in the mirror and decided that I liked my look. I stepped outside.

The table was cleared, and he was sitting there on the settee, a glass of wine in his hand.

I walked to him and sat in front of him.

"Can we talk about business now?" I asked him.

"I am sorry, Cinderella," he said. "I don't talk business in my personal time," he said, and I stared at him.

Then why the heck would he keep me here!?

And Cinderella? I asked him to call me Ella!

"Excuse me?"

"Since you came all the way here to meet me, I will definitely give you a chance," he said. "I would arrange for us to meet for the business purpose and let you know the time and place."

Then what the heck am I doing here?

"Okay," I said. "Um... Thank you, for dinner... and I will surely pay you back for this," I smoothened my dress.

"That's nothing," he shrugged off my offer.

"No, I don't want to... owe you after coming here and disturbing you in your personal time,"

"Then treat me to a dinner when you have time," he looked at me. "That is If you feel like paying me back."

I know it's rude to turn him down.

"Yeah, let's do that," I said. I have no intention of keeping that promise.

I got up from my place.

"Then I should go back," I said. "It's already late."

"I will drive you back."

"Thanks, but I will call my driver," I said and walked to the door.

"Wait," he placed his wineglass down and strode to me. I waited patiently as he opened the door for me.

I expected him to tell me goodbye there, so it surprised me as he followed me to the elevator.

"My security people will stop you," he told me as an explanation, and I nodded stiffly.

As we reached the ground floor, he escorted me outside. I suddenly felt like being watched and I was uneasy.

We were halfway through the hall, and I turned to him.

"This will do," I stated firmly. "Thank you for all the trouble, but I don't wish to trouble you anymore, Sir,"

"Michael," he looked into my eyes and insisted. There was some kind of power in them, and I had no choice but to follow along.

"Michael," I corrected and nodded my head in acknowledgement. A small smile appeared on his face.

"It was no trouble," he told me. "I look forward to meeting you the next time, Cinderella."

Cinderella? I just asked him to call me Ella!

Five minutes later, I was inside my car and thinking about what the heck just happened.

"Did you convince him?" Kevin asked me and I shook my head.

"Then what happened? You were gone for a long time."

"This guy... Mama is right, he is so full of himself! A rich arrogant guy!"

And he knows how to be charming and gentle as well.

He clearly is a playboy! I should stay away from him.

"Kevin, do you know anything about his girlfriend?"

"According to my sources, he dated no one," he said. "But... there's a rumour that he was engaged before and that his fiancée met with an accident," he added. "There is also a rumour that he used that story to keep away people from approaching him."

But he was in a trance as he told me that he loved me from the poolside and he looked really hurt as well.

Okay, that explains what happened at the pool.

A tiny part of me felt pity for him. But the larger part, the part that made me survive, warns me to stay away from him.

Michael.

I saw my Juniors; Tarun and Zeeshan peeking at me as I walked back. They must have been surprised as I appeared with Cinderella.

I turned to the elevator and saw the General Manager of the hotel; Jyothika Anand, coming my way.

"I am sorry sir, I heard you were interrupted on your private time, I will ask my staff to be more careful from now on."

"Take it easy," I said. "It was an important guest, so I will let it go this time."

She looked slightly surprised, but I was in a great mood as I got inside the elevator.

Once I reached my suite, I hurried to the bedroom and opened the special compartment in my suitcase. I carefully took out the journals from it and ran my hand over the metallic name tag fixed on it.

"Ella"

Four years ago, when Cinderella recovered from her coma, Salena had asked Nisha to destroy all the traces of me from her daughter's life as she was afraid that it could trigger her memories and put her in danger.

So Nisha had no choice but do that. But she couldn't bring herself to burn Cinderella's diaries and she took it back with her.

I was under severe depression after the months following our "accident" and Sam had brought me her diaries in an attempt to pull me out.

The words written inside had cured me and pained me alike. It had made me hang on, but it had also made me crazy some of the days.

Most of all, I had realised the depth of her feelings for me.

Cinderella put a lot of effort to be closer to me back then. And now it's my turn to get her back.
