The Football Game

"Save yourself for people who always treat you in such a way that let's you love yourself."

I've been here for about a month and I've never been so stressed out in my life. The homework is up to my ass and I haven't slept correctly. I've gotten about 3-5 hours of sleep each night and I've been the walking dead.

I visited Debbie a few days after the scene in the cafeteria and pretty much tried every kind of coffee she made. Ace came by a few times, but couldn't stay because of football practice. Apparently being the star quarterback is a big deal.

After everything that happened in my life, I still can't imagine actually being happy. I've always dreamed of being in a safe place and having friends that I can call my family. I've gotten so close to Miya that I started calling her my sister instead of just my best friend. Fancy and Mason's relationship has to be one of the cutest ones I've seen with my two eyes. They always look at each other from across the room a just stare. At one point, Fancy gave Mason a smirk, just a smirk, and Mason's face blushed like a teenage girl that just got told she's cute. Miya won't stop talking about it, and complaining how she feels so lonely. I try to tell her that I'm as lonely as her but she just says how Ace and I look at each other like we're about to hump each other.

And at this point, I might just kill her in her sleep.

"Aphrodite! Get out of the bathroom before I penetrate you!"

I open the bathroom door with a horrified look. I put both of my hands on either side of the door frame and lean my weight them. "Penetrate me?" I ask slowly.

She quickly nods her head once and crosses her arms. "We have to be at the football game in..." She pauses and looks at her imaginary watch on her wrist, "three hours and we have to get ready."

I close my eyes and drop my head. I groan and glance up at her. "Exactly Miya, three hours. I think we have enough time to get ready."

She huffs and ducks under my arms to walk into the bathroom. "Never in my life have I encountered such a clueless women in my life." As she's talking, she pulls a bag out form under the sink and sets it on the countertop. She turns to me and quickly fills me in. "This is my makeup bag. We are getting ready. You are going to get a shower and let me do your hair. Then, you are going to let me do your makeup. Lastly, I'm going to do my stuff. Then, we're leaving and showing your fine ass to everyone." She nods once, obviously satisfied, and grabs her makeup bag and ducks out from under my arms again.

"Get a shower and hurry up!" She yells,, her back facing me.

I shake off the shock from her cussing and do as she told me to.

"Voila!" Miya screams and throws her hands in the air, before crewing the mascara cap on and setting it down. She shoo's me away and hops up to get ready.

After I got out of the shower, she made me sit with my towel on while she did my makeup and hair. My hair just consisted of French braided pigtails and my makeup was a simple natural look. When I went into my room, on my bed was a pair of ripped jean shorts and a red jersey with the number 23 on it. Confused, I picked up the jersey when a piece of paper flew to the floor. Crouching down, I pick up the paper and smile widely.

Dear Angel,

I want my girl to wear my jersey so everyone will know you're mine. You better cheer for me.

P.S. My number is at the bottom.

Love, Ace.

Giggling loudly, I take my towel off and get dressed. I tuck the front of the jersey in my shorts and put on a pair of converse. I put on some diamond studs and a few rings on my fingers to complete the look. I glance in the mirror and pause. I look at myself and sigh.

How could he like me? I'm so...plain. I'm not that skinny. I'm not that pretty. And I'm sure as hell am not anything special or fun to be around. Someone like him should not like someone like me. But, I'm going to make the best of it. At least till he gets tired of me.

"You ready?" Miya asks, suddenly appearing in my doorway.

I nod. "Yep, let's go." I start walking toward here when she smirks at me. She jerks her head to the jersey and gives me a mischievous look. I shake my head at her and push her through my door. "Let's go asshole."

It takes about 10 minutes to get to the stadium, where it's jam packed. The whole parking lot is full and the people were lined up all the way to the street. The school mascot was running around the parking lot, trying to get people to buy mini stuffed wolf's since his costume is a wolf itself. Let's just say when Miya threatened to cut his balls off, he stayed as far away from us.

"We're never going to get in at this rate!" Miya huffed and ran her fingers threw her hair. She wore the same outfit as me, except she had her brothers jersey on with black shorts. "God, there are people everywhere! We're not going to get good seats either! Ugh!"

I laughed and put my hands on her shoulder. "Okay, okay calm down. It's not the end of the world." She gave me a doubtful look and pushed my hands off of her. "Nothing is going to plan! We were supposed to get here at this time and get a certain seat and then-"

"Whoa whoa whoa. Don't ruin the suprise Miya." Harriet suddenly appeared behind Miya and grabbed her by her waist. "Don't forget what we're here for sweetheart." He murmured in her ear. She blushed and slightly shivered under his touch. My eyebrows almost shot to my hairline.

"Wait when did this," I said as I pointed to both of them, "happen?"

"Last night." Harriet answered. Instead of his usual glare and masked face, he had a grin that made his whole face look different. He looked happy. "I explained everything."

He stopped talking and I shot him a glare. "Are you not going to keep talking or am I going to have to beat it out of Miya later?" He sent me a glare that confirmed neither would happen. I stuck my tongue out at him and he rolled his eyes. He grabbed Miya's hand and grabbed my arm. "Let's go."

He dragged us through the cars and all the way up to the beginning of the line. Shouts could be heard from all over because we were cutting. Well, technically we weren't, but I'm not too sure what Harriet is doing.

We went all the way to the gate where Harriet stopped and walked up to the guard. He whispered something in his ear and the guard looked at me and glanced down at my shirt. I hid behind Miya and little and the guard quickly looked away. He nodded and Harriet strode to us and grabbed our arms. He dragged us through the gates as more people started yelling in the line.

The noise from the stadium was deafening when we walked through the hallway. Still holding our arms, Harriet slowed down to a walking pave down the steps to our seats right in front of the field.

"Shhhhh!" Both Miya and Harriet simultaneously said. I gave then both weird looks and sat in one of the three reserved seats in the front row. Miya say on my left while Harriet sat on my right. Odd, I figured they would want to sit by each other.

An alarm started going off on Miya's phone as the whole stadium started to quiet down when three football players walked out onto the field, and she quickly shut it off. I soon realized it was Ace, Mason, and Fancy holding microphones.

"Hello everyone." Ace's deep baritone voice flowed through the microphone. Everyone in the crowd went wild.

"I see everyone's excited." Fancy said, and everyone went absolutely fucking nuts. Mason, Ace, and Fancy all laughed and you could hear every women in the crowd sigh in adoration.

"But," Mason started, "we have something very important to do for mine and Alexander's friend here." He clapped Ace on the back and he smirked at him. He waved his hands and said 'go on'.

Ace stepped forward a few steps and looked around at the stadium. He focused on where Miya, Harriet, and I were sitting and smiled. Everyone looked to us, making me sink down in my seat and blush. Ace chuckled and it went through the sound system, making me shiver.

Fancy put an arm around Mason and kissed his cheek while they backed away from Ace. Masom hid his face in Fancy's neck and blushed like a red tomato.

Ace cleared his throat and rubbed his jaw while biting his lip. "You know, I've always been the type where I never thought I'd find someone for me, nonetheless, one I know I'd fall in love it. I believe in soulmates and love at first sight, but I never believed that I have a soulmate. At the beginning of this year I had this feeling, this gut wrenching feeling, that something amazing would happen. That something so extravagant would enter my life and it would alter my path and make it one hundred times better. This something would make me so happy that I wouldn't even know what to do with myself. Something that would make me think of only that thing and nothing else. But the thing is, it isn't even a thing. It's a person."

He paused, making everyone lean forward in their seats and tremble with anticipation.

"Her name is Aphrodite Hemmings. This girl had made me feel like I'm on top of the world. I've always looked at people weird when they say that they're addicted to their significant other, but I can truly say I'm addicted to her. And I would love nothing more, if she would accompany me to a date on tomorrow night."

I stopped breathing.

Whatever I thought Ace was going to say, this wasn't it. I breath started coming out unevenly and my heart was beating a mile a minute. Everyone was staring at me, but I paid them no mind. All I could focus on was the man in front of me in the football field.

He was staring at me with a nervous smile on his face, and I bit my lip to keep me from squealing. I tucked some loose hairs behind my ear and nodded. He cocked his head to the side, obviously confused. I almost slapped myself in the face when I came to the realization that he couldn't see what I was doing that far away.

"She said yes dumbass!" Both people on either side of me yelled.

You could see his body physically deflate from his tense he was. Yelling and cheers were heard all around, but the loudest was from the football team standing across the field that just suddenly fucking appeared out of no where. Fancy came running up to Ace and tackled him to the ground laughing.

"On a scale from one to ten, how bad do you want to kill me right now?" Miya said from beside me, with a pleased smile on her face. She was leaned back in her chair, with her feet propped up on the railing in front of us with sunglasses perched on her nose.

"I'm hovering somewhere between the high thirties." I reliped with a laugh. We both knew I was happy.

"Well killing me is just going to have to wait because we're about to watch a football game that I know nothing about."

"Amen." She gave me a smirk and a fist bump, before pulling out a bottle of water for her and for me.

The coach called all the players over and made them huddle up so Ace could give them their pep talk. They soon broke away and got into their positions on the field, as did the other players.

Harriet kept Miya and I tuned into what was happening, but I kept zoning out on what was happening and just focused on what Ace was doing. He can throw farther than the field and run faster than any players. Fancy was always a step behind him while Mason was always a step behind him. The three seemed to work as a better team than the whole team did, but they all made it work.

Towards the end of the game, there was a point where everyone was sitting on the edges of their seats when Ace threw the ball in the air to the person in the touchdown zone. The ball flew into the air and spiraled till it landed perfectly into the player hands, and the crowd flipped. People ran from the stands into the field and all the players picked up Ace and the one that caught the ball, and held them up.

Miya, Harriet, and I stood by my car while we waited for the boys to get done. Mason and Fancy walked out first, holding hands and whispering to each other. They walked past us and thanked us for coming, saying that they had plans. Miya wiggled her eyebrows at Fancy when he said that, and he just gave her a smirk while Mason blushed.

Ace eventually came out, walking in just a pair of black basketball shorts and a shoulder length grey t-shirt with tennis shoes. "Hey." He said while looking at me with a smile on his face.

"Hi." I whispered back, suddenly feeling shy.

Miya chuckled and pulled Harriet away by his hand away from us. "Where are you going?"

"Away. You two need some alone time and Harriet and I are going for a drive on his motorcycle." She replied to me over her shoulder and started walking faster, practically dragging Harriet.

I turned back to Ace, and was shocked to see him closer than he was. He held out a hand in front of me and looked down at me with a smile. "Come on," He whispered, "I'll take you home."

My heart beat faster from how close he was, and took his hand. He laced our fingers together and squeezed. He walked a few steps to the passenger seat and opened the door. Before I could get in, he wrapped his right arm around my waist while the left rested on my hip.

"I need the keys Angel." He breathed against my neck. I shivered and, unable to help myself, leaned back into him. "F-Front left pocket." I whispered, barely loud enough to hear.

His cool breath shuddered against my neck when his hand slowly moved from my hip to my pocket. My body heated as his hand tentatively slid into my pocket and grabbed my keys. I grabbed his arm that's on my waist and dig my nails in. He sucked in a breath, obviously effected by me as I am effected by him.

He removed his hand from my pocket and put his arm under the one around my waist and pulled me close against him. He nuzzled his face in my neck and top a deep breath. "You have no clue what you do to me, hm?"

His hum against my neck made my knees weak. My knees buckled and he held me tighter so I wouldn't fall. If he wasn't holding me, I would have surely fallen.

"You should have seen the way every man was looking at you tonight. If you weren't wearing my jersey, then they would have tried to make a move on what's mine." His voice went deeper towards the end, practically growling the word 'mine'.

"W-Why?" I stuttered.

"Why what, baby?"

"Why me?"

I could feel him smile against my neck at the question. He turned me around, still keeping me as close with his arms still wrapped around me. I had to tilt my head to look at him and I bit my lip. eyes. He gave me a sexy half grin and leaned his forehead against mine.

"Ever since you fell in my arms the first time I met you, I couldn't get you out of my head. I drove Fancy absolutely insane with how much I would talk about you. I would literally just space out and think about you. I would see you walking across campus and see every guy just undressing you with their eyes and it make me so fucking angry." He closed his eyes, breathing heavily. He clenched his fists, taking my shirt with it. He finally opened his eyes, the anger still there but not as much. "After the scene in the cafeteria, I need to do something before someone else did. I've never felt this type of feeling before. I've never been possessive over a girl, over anyone really, but with you I just cant help myself. My father always told me that after you meet a girl and you can't get her off your mind, then you either have tremendous feelings for her, or you're obsessed with her."

A laughed bursted out me, making his smile. I started giggling and his eyes sparkled in the moonlight. "I'm serious though. He truly said that to me, and it stuck with me. I never believed that I would find someone that's my everything like my dad has, but I did." He paused, a smile creeping up to his face. "That's you."

I couldn't say anything as tears welled up in my eyes. He immediately came alarmed and let go of my waist to coddle my face in my hands. "Baby girl, what's wrong? I'm so sorry if you don't like what I said. I can take it all back. We won't have to go on our date tomorrow night, I can back off, I ca-"

I giggled at his rambling and smiled. He stopped and stared at me like he's never seen me before. His lips were parted and he looked at me in a daze. He looked so cute, I couldn't help myself.

I gently grabbed his face in my hands and raised on my tippy toes. I stared at his lips and swallowed my nerves. I looked into his eyes to see him staring at my lips. His eyes shot to mine with hooded eyes. I leaned forward just a few inches and nipped at his bottom lip. I gently trailed my lips over his.

A groan erupted out of his throat at the action and pushed me against the car. My hands fell from his face and landed on his chest. One hand grabbed the back of my neck while the other landed on my hip and squeezed.

Then, his lips slammed against mine.
