#16 "Morning Drama"

“Okay...How does this work again?” I asked, dumbly staring at Jihoon.

“It’s just a bunch of tests. Korean and then Math, A short lunch break, English, Social Studies or Science, and then Korean History.” Jihoon said, rolling his eyes.

“Hmph.” I let out, crossing my arms.

“What are you huffing about? You are an American. You don’t even have to study English while we have to.” Jihoon said, fake-glaring.

“Are you kidding me? The paragraph doesn’t even make sense! It’s just plain weird.” I said, my eyes wide.

Jihoon held up both of his hands. “Woah. Easy.”

I smacked him. “Don’t treat me like I’m some sort of animal.”

Jihoon rolled his eyes as he started to rummage through his pockets. “Now where was...”

“Where was what?” I asked.

Jihoon just pulled out a box of chocolates and half dumped it on me. “Here. Eat it and stop PMSing.”

I opened the box to find...

“Mint chocolate?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Jihoon half gagged. “Still don’t understand why you like it.”

I smiled as soon as the minty goodness met my tongue. Heaven.

“Well, thanks, man. And you know, If you ask a girl if she is PMSing, You know she will beat the shit out of you, right?” I asked, mumbling as I rolled the chocolate around inside my mouth.

“Noted. I didn’t know you were a girl, Ms.” Jihoon said, rolling his eyes once more.

“Gah. You wanna go to the study room for the last minute cram?” I asked.

JIhoon grinned as he grabbed his bag. “Sure!”

I took a glance at my phone. I couldn’t believe it was already March. Josh and Cole were already accepted to the schools they have wanted to go. I sighed as I grabbed my bag as well. It was already 10 PM. Only a few hours till the dreaded day.

"You guys know this is important, right? This will decide whether or not you’ll get into the academic pursuit class. Do your best." Our homeroom teacher said, eyeing us rather wearily.

“Psst.” I hissed, nudging Jihoon whose head just did a dive.

“I’m up!” Jihoon said loudly as he got up from his seat. Everyone stared at him and laughed.

“Gee. You could have woken me up in a different way,” Jihoon muttered as he sat back down on his seat, his face bright red.

Jihoon turned around to face Hyejin, who stared back at him innocently.

"Did you say something?" Jihoon asked sarcastically.

"Does it look like I said something?" Hyejin said back, narrowing her eyes.

"I think you are the only one that has an annoying voice in this classroom, So yeah. I’m sure." Jihoon said, narrowing his eyes too.

“Not as annoying as your squeaky voice. What are you, SpongeBob? Ever heard of puberty?” Hyejin scoffed.

I just looked back and forth, enjoying the banter between them.

"Maybe not. But hearing the sound of your voice, I guess you had." Jihoon replied coolly.

Hyejin glared at him. Jihoon smiled a satisfactory smile. But that didn’t last long.

“Ow!” Jihoon let out as Hyejin stood up and stomped on his foot.

"Mothereffing jerk." Hyejin muttered as she walked out of the classroom. Her voice was wavering a little.

“Dude. You hit her nerve. I think she is crying.” I said, staring at Jihoon.

“So what? She told me my voice was squeaky! You don’t see me running to the bathroom crying about it.” Jihoon said, turning around to face me again.

I rolled my eyes. “Because we all know your voice isn’t squeaky. But you know how Hyejin’s voice is a little husky. You hurt her feelings.”

Jihoon sighed. He just stared at the notes he had spread out on his desk absentmindedly.

I smacked the back of his head.

“Ow! You too?! Do I look like a fucking punch bag or something?” Jihoon yelped as he rubbed his head furiously.

“Go settle it out, you moron,” I said, crossing my arms.

Jihoon grudgingly stood up. “Fine. But you are coming as well.”

I raised my eyebrow. “Why do I need to tag along?”

“Because,” Jihoon said as he dragged me up from my seat. I groaned as I stood up. There were about 20 minutes till the exam began, so I guess I just had to help my cousin.

“Where would she have gone?” Jihoon muttered.

I stared at him blankly. “Duh. Crying girl. Where would she have gone?”

Jihoon stared at me with a blank expression.

“The bathroom.” I said, smacking the back of his head again.

“I knew that.” Jihoon said, rubbing the back of his head.

“Sure.” I said, shaking my head at him.

As we reached the bathroom, Jihoon stared at the girl’s bathroom door blankly.

“Uh...What now?” Jihoon asked, frowning.

I stared at him. “Wow. What happened to you today? Why are you acting so dumb..? Grab a girl and ask her to help you!”

Jihoon started blushing. “Who? And how? Whaaa?”

I shook my head. This was so frustrating! I walked towards a girl who was walking in the opposite direction of the bathroom.

"Uh...Excuse me?” I said, tapping her shoulder lightly.

The girl turned around swiftly, raising her eyebrows at me. It was the ice queen.

"Oh. It’s you." I said.

"Uh...Is that a problem?” Sia said, scowling at me.

"No, not at all. I was just hoping whether you can help-" I started to speak when the ice queen turned her back on me once again.

"Hey! It’s about Hyejin!" Now that stopped her.

She turned around with a fierce expression. ”What about her?"

I gulped. ”She...Uh..."

"Spill it.” She growled.

"She is crying in the bathroom." I quickly said.

“She what?” Sia screeched as she ran to the bathroom.

“Woah,” JIhoon muttered.

“Thanks to you, I’m the one who had to meet her icy glares. I’m sure a part of me has frozen and fallen off because of it. I just can’t feel it now because I’m still icy.” I said, shivering.

“It’s your own luck to grab her,” Jihoon said, chuckling.

“Do you want another smack?” I said, raising my eyebrow as Jihoon quickly shook his head no.

I sighed as I tapped my feet. Only 5 minutes left till the exam began. All this drama was going to kill me before the exam did.
