#20 "Munchkin"

"So. Sean! How did your scores turn out?" Mr.Shin asked as he twirled a massage stick that had a bear character on the end. He always carried it around, smacking students who dozed off in his class.

"Erm..." I said, desperately glancing at Jihoon. We raced down to the cafeteria to eat lunch first and to my rotten luck, Today was Mr.Shin’s turn to make sure students kept in line. Jihoon just shrugged. Great...

"I guess it’s not good?" Mr.Shin said, giving me a smile. I did not smile back. Mr. Shin turned his focus on Jihoon.

"Oh. 4 1 1 3 2, sir,” Jihoon replied. Mr. Shin’s face lighted up.

"Hmm...Not bad. Not bad at all. You have to focus more on Korean, Jihoon. Don’t forget your school scores too." Mr.Shin said, massaging his shoulder with his stick. I wanted to break the stick in half.

"Uh...Of course, sir." Jihoon replied, glancing at me. I just shrugged.

"Okay. Get your lunches." Mr.Shin said, patting my back as he stepped aside to let us in the cafeteria. I sighed as I grabbed my plate.

“Dude...You upset?” Jihoon asked, glancing at me once more.

“Nah. I can do better next time,” I said, taking a seat. And I really wasn’t that upset. I was just...More motivated.

“That’s the spirit! And OMG. Is that...” Jihoon said, his eyes widening.

“What?” I asked quizzically. Jihoon was staring at the lunch lady, his mouth open. Weirdo.

“Oh my god, I’m in heaven,” Jihoon whispered.

“Uh...Do you have a crush on the lunch lady? You weirdo.” I said, tutting my tongue.

“What? No! The menu, you idiot. Kimchi rib stew...♥” Jihoon said with a sigh.

I stared at the food, picking up my tray. It did not look that appetizing.

“And that’s supposed to be...good?” I said with a grossed out expression.

Jihoon just chuckled. “Oh wait till you taste it. You are gonna love it.”

And as it turns out, I really did like it. Which was usually the case.

“See? Told you! Boom!” Jihoon exclaimed before shoveling the food into his mouth.

“Alright, Alright. Stop gloating.” I said, rolling my eyes.

Two people dragged the chair out next to us and sat down. I didn’t bother to look up from my food until I heard their voice.

"Oh my god. You even eat like a pig.” HyeJin said, rolling her eyes at Jihoon while the Ice Queen nodded shortly at me.

"Ew. Why are you even here? Do you like me or something?” Jihoon said, swallowing his food.

"It’s the cafeteria, moron. You don’t own the place.” HyeJin said, making out a grossed out expression.

Jihoon just smirked. ”Oh, surree. So you just happened to pick a seat right next to us?”

HyeJin rolled her eyes once more as she pointed to Mr.Shin ordering students to sit down orderly. ”Look again, doofus. If we had a choice, we wouldn’t seat here to you two pigs.”

I raised my eyebrows. ”Hey! What did I do?"

"You are related to this idiot,” HyeJin said, snickering.

"You are so right. I should have educated him better." I sighed dramatically, shaking my head slowly.

"You guys are mean," Jihoon said, pouting as he stared down at his food.

"Aww. Cheer up, pal. Eat up because it’s gonna be an exciting day.” HyeJin said, laughing.

"Why?” Jihoon asked, his mouth full of food.

"The academic pursuit class. You and Sia will study there. Mr.Shin told me.” HyeJin said.

"Oh.“Jihoon said, awkwardly.

"Hmm," Sia said, casually eating her food.

"Well it seems like Jihoon and I am done with our plate. See you guys later." I said with a smile, standing up with my tray.

"Oh. Right. Erm, See you." HyeJin said while Sia nodded once.

“Erm...” Jihoon said as he fumbled with his tray, standing up to follow me out.

“Don’t worry about it. I told you. I can catch up. In fact, I’m gonna whoop your ass next time.” I said with a grin before Jihoon can say anything else.

Jihoon smirked as he punched my back. “That’s my boy.”

I rolled my eyes as I slung my arm around Jihoon’s shoulder. “Shut up you munchkin.”

Jihoon gaped at me. “Munchkin?! You are the one who is shorter than me!”

I snorted. “As if. Everybody can tell I’m taller than you.”

Jihoon’s mouth fell open. “No way!”

I shrugged. “Embrace the reality dude. You are a munchkin.”

Jihoon shook his head wildly. “No! To the nurse’s office!”

“Why? You need an ice pack on your sore ego?” I snickered.

“No! You are the one who needs an ice pack! We are gonna settle who is taller once and for all!” Jihoon said, marching to the nurse’s office.

I smiled as I followed him. This was going to be interesting.
