“Oh, it’s beautiful” Madison exclaimed in awe, looking at the moderate two story cabin house.

“If you think the front’s beautiful, you should check out the back of the house” I smiled at her, pulling our luggage out of the car.

She glanced at me “Is it pretty?”

I grinned at her “It’s gorgeous”

Markos giggled and clapped his hands loudly.

My grin widened and I booped his nose before carrying our luggage up the stairs.

“I’ve never seen him this excited” Madi said, gazing down at her son with a fond smile on her face.

I smiled at her and unlocked the door, quickly ushering her inside before I gathered the rest of our luggage and deposit it neatly in the living room.

“Okay, I take it back” Madi said in astonishment “This place is absolutely amazing!”

I laughed “I’m glad you like it”

“And look at that view!” She exclaimed, gazing outside through the glass sliding door windows.

I leaned against the living room frame and followed her gaze “It’s much better since we fixed the deck”

She looked at me in surprise “You did that?”

I nodded “Mr. Young, Rhys, and I worked on this deck and the gazebo all last summer”

“You did the gazebo too?”

I nodded

“Whose idea was to put it on the water?”

I grinned at her “Mine”

“I knew it!” she smiled back.

“How’d you know?”

“Because it screams ’Ares” She smiled “Only you would want a deck on the water”

“It’s beautiful” I defended, smiling at her “Not to mention practical during the fishing season”

She rolled her eyes “Woah boy, it was just an observation”

I laughed and nodded towards the kitchen “Did you have a chance to check out the kitchen yet?”

“No” she said “Why?”

“Because I think I finally found your dream kitchen”

Her eyes widened “You remember what my dream kitchen consisted of?”

“Of course” I smirked “You only talked about it 99.0% of the time”

She stuck her tongue out at me “Oh shut it”

She walked toward the kitchen and I grinned before counting down “3...2...1...”

A loud squeal sounded out throughout the house and I laughed.

Madi came bounding out of the kitchen with a beaming smile on her face.

“Ares!!” she grabbed my hand with the one not holding Markos “It is my dream kitchen!”

“Does that mean you’re happy?” I asked

She beamed up me with a smile that made my heart thump wildly.

“And does that also mean you’ll make me your famous Cinnamon Rolls?”

“Oh Geez” She blushed “I haven’t made those in forever! I probably the recipe!”

I gave her my best puppy dog eyes “Pwetty please Madi?”

“I don’t know...”

“Pretty pretty please Madi” I pleaded, dropping to my knees and clasping my hands “With a cherry on top?”

She blushed “I guess I could try...”

“Yes!” I exclaimed jumping up and smashing her to me in a giant bear hug “THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!”

She giggled “I think you’re crushing my baby”

“Oh! Sorry!” I backed away and grinned when Markos was gazed up at me with a curious look.

“Oh buddy” I plucked him from Madison’s hand and sat on the couch, bouncing him on my knees as I talked to him ” You don’t know what you’ll be missing”

He babbled at me, his two little teeth poking out.

I just nodded as he spoke.

“Yeah buddy, your Mom does make the best cinnamon rolls in the world” More babbling “Yep, and she is the prettiest girl in the world”

Madi rolled her eyes.

More babbling and giggling from Markos before I sniffed the air and grimaced.

“What’s wrong?”

“Someone made a poopy” I snickered before standing up and grabbing the diaper bag.

“Oh, you don’t have to do that” Madi protested, trying to take her son out of my hands “I’m his Mom, I can change his diaper”

I hugged him tighter to my body “Nah ah Mama Bear, this one’s mine”

“You want to change his diaper?” She gaped at me “Willingly?”

“Yeah?” I glanced at her with a raised eyebrow “Is there a problem?”

She just continued to stare at me like I spontaneously shifted in front of her for the first time.

“Who are you...” she whispered under her breath.

I smiled and headed up the stairs “I’m Ares, nice to meet you”

“That’s not what I meant you Doofus”

“Well then,” I winked at her “I’m one of a kind”

“You sure are” she muttered under her breath, following me “You sure are”
