Chapter 23 - Night Dad

Gale’s POV

I woke up to my phone going off. I groaned and reached for it as it went off again and then again and again.

What the fuck?

I looked to see missed messages from Logan, Jake. Stacy? What the fuck’s going on? I saw one from Steph and then more from the boys.

I groaned and went to Steph first. Mistake.

But I laughed at the video and then put my head down in my arms. My phone went off again and then again. I sighed and started going through the messages, replying to Logan and Jake, telling them that’s the night they came, drugged me and put my bed in the school. Guess what though, it wasn’t even my mattress! So, all that hard work we did to get it up the stairs and in here to find my mattress on my bed. They only stole my sheets. And then I found out last night that they actually drugged me!

Fucking Insane.

I deleted all the other messages because I didn’t care and then I got up and opened my curtains to see Steph’s closed.

I can’t believe she’s not letting me inside her house.

It’s bullshit.

I sighed and went to my cupboard, chucked on some jeans and made my way out and downstairs. I walked into the kitchen to see mum at the table, her head hung down with her hand to her neck.

“You ok?” I asked, going to her and taking over, massaging her neck and shoulders.

“Just old age.” She joked and moaned, “That’s so good.”

“So Steph thinks too.”

“You massage her?” She said and I chuckled a little.

“Well, I did. Just this while she was doing our science project.”

“You do know that you have to do some too?” She said, “I want to see it after, I want to see your work and then her work and I’ll grade you myself.” She said standing and then poked my nose gently before she walked to the sink and putting her coffee mug in it.

“Ah, yeah sure.”

“So, Steph.” She said, “You guys together now?”

“I guess.” I shrugged.

“She’s a good girl, Gale.” She said and turned to me, “Don’t ruin that.”

“Why would you say that?” I asked knowing full well and she scoffed, “Why were you even in Little Tokyo last night?”

“Work. Someone owed a debt to the company, I went and got it.” She said and I nodded, opened the fridge. I got out the orange juice and then I heard a crash on the stairs and then a cry.

“Liam?” Mum said, walking out as I did to see him on the ground as the end of the stairs, laughing.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“I fumbled.”

“Fumbled?” Mum said and went to him, “You mean stumbled?”

“Um, yo.” He said and I laughed, shaking my head.

“Are you drunk?!” Mum caught up and then took his hand and helped him up but he fell on her so I had to get him.

“I’ll take him to bed.”

“And Liam, you’re grounded.” She said, “Two weeks, no TV or games or friends. I want an explanation after too, young man!”

“But mummy!” He whined.

“Up you go.” I said, pulling him up the stairs and he started to cry, “Fucking hell, Liam.”

“Language.” Mum called out from downstairs and I helped Liam into his room and to his bed.

“What the hell did you do?”

“Um, big party with West.”

“West?” I said and pushed him onto his bed, “West is drunk too then?”

“Drunk?” He questioned, “We didn’t drink anything though.”

“For fuck’s sake. You’re stoned then.” I said and pushed his head down. He fell down and I put the blanket on him, “Go to sleep.” I said and made my way out.

“Night, dad.” He said as I took the handle of the door and I looked back at him but he was asleep. I sighed and closed the door and then made my way into my room and into my bathroom to quickly shower off before the beach.
