I grunted softly without opening my eyes, as I felt someone stroking my cheek.

I could just make out some quiet sobs from nearby, so I cracked my eyes blearily.

"Oh, Grayson sweetie. Is it really you?" Win's mum whispered shakily

I smiled sleepily, carefully sitting up in bed, trying not to wake up my smol bean. "Mum?"

She sobbed even harder as I pulled her into a hug, and she buried her face in my chest.

"I didn't think Win would actually find you... I mean... I hoped he would, but...." She choked between sobs. "Are you okay!? He didn't hurt you again, did he?"

"I'm okay. He had me under house arrest after the hospital, then tried to ship me to military school. But he didn't hurt me again."

Her puffy, reddened face looked so relieved. "Oh, thank goodness!! We are heading back home tomorrow... Ah... Do you by any chance have your passport?"

"Thankfully, I do. I needed to take quite a few different official documents with me to military school, so Alexander had to give it to me. I should probably check how much flights are though, I'll have to sell a few things to pay for it, seeing as my bank accounts are frozen." I rubbed the back of my neck, a little embarrassed that I was suddenly very broke.

She placed her hands on either side of my face, and planted a kiss on my forehead as she stood up. "Don't worry honey, I put aside some money for your flight already. Even though I didn't think it was possible, I hoped that we would be bringing you back with us."

I fought hard to hold back the tears that were threatening to escape.

I hadn't felt so much maternal love since my mum died.

It was almost overwhelming.

Even before shit went down with Alexander, Win's mum had always been to busy hanging off of him to really play the motherly role. Now, it was as if she had done a 180.

"You go back to sleep, and I'll sort out the flights. Sorry for waking you, by the way..." She continued, before quietly leaving the room.

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face as I lay back down, snuggling into my Winnie again, and falling back to sleep.

We slept through dinner, and right through until morning.

Win's mum woke us up at 5am, because we had to be at the airport by 6am for our mid morning flight.

We got up and made sure everything was packed and ready, before jumping in a taxi, and heading for the airport.

We arrived, checked in, and deposited our luggage with no problems.

I noticed that Winnie kept fidgeting, which was something he did when he was nervous or anxious.

"Winnie? What's wrong, baby?" I held his hands, rubbing my thumbs in circles on his skin to help calm him down.

"..... Bad feeling..." He grumbled grumpily.

I gave him a soft smile, pulling him against me as I wrapped my arms around him. "It's okay, Winnie. We are boarding in like 20 minutes... It's going to be fine."

"Don't jinx it!" He groaned, shoving my chest in annoyance.

I held him tighter in my embrace, which he grumbled at some more, but he didn't push me away.

"Naaaaww, babyyyy." I cooed, swaying us both from side to side playfully.

"Where in God's name do you think you are going, Grayson Kingsley!?" A terrifyingly familiar voice called out, making us all freeze.

Alexander stormed over to us, his face burning red with rage.

I quickly put myself between him and my Winnie, as Win tried to do the same.

Thankfully I won, seeing as I was stronger than him.

"You better get out of my fucking sight, asshole!" Win growled from behind me, still trying to push in front.

Alexander came to a stop in front of us, his arms folded over his chest as he spoke. "What a rude little devil child you are, Winston. That is no way to talk to an elder. Did no one ever tech you respect!?"

"I was taught to treat everyone with respect, until they give me reason not to. You have given me far too many already." He scowled back.

I pushed Win back behind me as, he continued to try and get past me.

I knew if I didn't hold him back, he would try to rip Alexander to shreds. While I had every confidence that he would win, I wasn't about to let him get arrested for fighting in the middle of the airport.

"You should leave, Alexander. I'm going back, and you can't stop me." I announced sternly, knowing it wouldn't phase him one bit.

He grinned maniacally, holding his phone up in front of him. "Actually, I can. One call to the authorities saying that my ex-wife is trying to kidnap my son, and it's all over."

NO! "You. Wouldn't. Dare."

"Oh, wouldn't I? I think we both know that I would." Alexander chuckled, as he brought his phone up to his ear.

Just as he was about to speak, Win's mum suddenly strutted over, her heels clicking loudly on the floor.

"You put that phone down right now, Alexander Kingsley, or I will destroy you."

He slowly turned to her, quirking an eyebrow in response. "Just how do you plan to do that, my dear ex-wife?"

"Unfortunately for you, I'm a jealous woman." She stared intensely at him. "I didn't like how friendly you were with that little blonde skank at church, so I installed a nanny cam to see if you were cheating on me."

My mind instantly went to what had happened right before Alexander had exploded.

My face burned at the thought of Win's mum watching the footage of us getting hot and heavy.

Apparently Win was thinking the same thing, because he let out an embarrassed groan while he rubbed his face. "UGHHH.. So... You saw us.... Y'know....?"

She blushed, and gave us an apologetic look.

Oh dear God.. How embarrassing.

Alexander eyed her, obviously trying to determine whether or not she was bluffing. ".... You wouldn't dare.."

"Oh, I definitely would." She stated fiercely, unwavering in her conviction. "Unless you agree to give me custody of Grayson, and let him come back with us now, I'll have you arrested for grievous bodily harm to a minor, and I'll tell them how the car accident was also your fault."

He looked stunned, and was left speechless.

I had never seen him lost for words in my entire life.

"So Alexander, will you give me custody of Grayson now, or will you let me destroy you, your business, and your life, to get custody of him?" She continued.

His brow knotted in contemplation.

I couldn't believe this was actually happening. No one had ever bested him before, and now he was seriously in trouble.

He cussed under his breath -which was not something I had ever seen him do before either- and pinched the bridge of his nose, before huffing in defeat.

"Fine! Go! Quickly, before I change my mind. I'll have my lawyer take care of the legal side of things..." He growled aggressively, waving his hand to shoo us off.

He turned and stormed away angrily, leaving me and Win staring in shock at our mum.

She just stood there with her arms crossed, watching him leave with a self satisfied smirk on her face.

I ran over to her and gathered her in an enormous hug, lifting her off the ground and spinning her around. "MUMMYYYY! I LOVE YOUUU!"

"Oh my god, don't ever say "mummy" again... It sounds so fucking stupid coming from your mouth..." Win grimaced, before rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. "Thanks, mummy.... I love you as well.... Just so you know..."

"I love you both so much.. Now come on, we are going to miss our flight if we don't hurry up!" She laughed happily, before heading towards our gate.

We hurried off after her, and got on our flight just in time. It was long and exhausting, but my Winnie was snuggled up to me the whole time, so it was the best fucking flight ever.

We got back home after a long taxi ride from the neighbouring city, as our town wasn't big enough to have it's own airport.

As we pulled up in front of the house, I spotted a middle aged man sitting on the front steps. I couldn't make out who it was, but I didn't think it was anyone I knew.

Win and his mum hadn't seemed to have noticed him yet, as they grabbed their luggage out of the back of the taxi.

Win finally spotted him as he turned to enter the house, promptly dropping the bags he was carrying. His eyes went wide with shock as he walked backwards shakily, pressing his back up against the side of the taxi.

"아........ 아버지?" Win stuttered in shock.

*(아버지 Pronounced Ah-boh-ji)*

I knew that word.

I racked my brain trying to remember it's meaning.

I had been teaching myself how to speak Korean since I found out Win could.

As soon as I saw the horrible expression on mum's face, I remembered.

This is the guy that covered my baby in scars.
