Chapter 10

“What the hell is wrong?” I looked over at Sawyer who wasn’t too happy.

“I’m fine.” I sighed.

“Come on, we are looking at wedding dresses and we get some cake.” She smiled but I wasn’t in the mood to do anything. I just wanted to go back home and curl up underneath all my covers. Of course, me being the maid of honor and the sister I had to be here no matter what.

Sighing I got out of the car and followed her into the store. Mom had to do something before she came here so I couldn’t hide behind her. Sawyer’s mom Lindsey smiled at us as we walked over to her.

“Don’t you both look cute.” she smiled.

“Thank you.” Sawyer smiled hugging her.

“You doing okay Kins?” She frowned looking me over. I nodded hugging her.

“Yea, I’m just tired.”

“She’s missing that boy of hers,” Sawyer smirked.

“Sawyer, we are just friends and you know that.” I groaned looking the other way.

“Go look for a dress and leave her be. Lorelai and Emily are already looking.” Lindsey hissed at her.

“Thank you.” She smiled going to look with Sawyer. I looked through a few dresses before sitting down on one of the couches.

“Hey honey, you okay you look a little pale.” I heard Mom's voice as she walked over to me.

“Yea. I’m just tired.”

“Has she found one yet?”

“Not yet.”

“She is the pickiest person I know.” Aunt Lorelai groaned sitting down next to me.

“She gets that you from you.” Mom smiled looking over to find Sawyer.

“Let me go say hi, and I will be right back.” I nodded watching her walk off. I checked my phone, finding Dom and Lucas text me. I told Lucas I wasn’t feeling great and that we meet up later, while I told Dom that I would call him later.

“You sure you’re okay?” Mom asked as she came back over. Lindsey followed her sitting on the other side of me.

“Yea I’m fine, I’ll just stay for a couple.” They nodded looking at me worried.

After the last dress mom took me home and dropped me off. I curled up under my blankets sighing in comfort. I pulled up Dom’s number but unfortunately, he didn’t answer.

“Hey sorry about earlier, was dress shopping with Sawyer. Of course, she didn’t pick out a dress but hopefully soon. Call me when you can.” I hung up falling back to sleep.

I sighed feeling someone running their fingers through my hair.

“You feel any better?” I nodded looking up at my mom.

“Yea just needed some sleep.”

“If you’re up for it, there’s so soup downstairs.”

“Maybe in a little bit. Is Sawyer mad I left?”

“Of course not, she’s worried about you though. Lindsey said you had more color when she got there then you went white pretty fast.”

“I was trying to stick it out for her.”

“It’s okay, there’s always next time.” I nodded curling more into her. She sighed in content running her fingers through my hair.

“Come on let’s get some food in you maybe it will help.” She whispered against my forehead. I pulled away from her making my way downstairs. I could hear dad talking to someone in the kitchen.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” Dad asked as Sawyer turned and looked at me.

“Better.” I smiled taking a seat next to Sawyer.

“I’m sorry about earlier,” Sawyer whispered.

“It’s okay, I’m sorry for leaving this should be a happy time for you.”

“Hey, don’t worry about it. We will have next time, I’m sure you’ll be feeling better by then.” I nodded taking a sip of the soup.

“We’re going to get a movie set up if you two want to join us.” Dad smiled following mom into the den. I looked back at Sawyer as she was looking me over.

“Are you sick?”

“What are you talking about?” I hissed.

“Come on, something is different about you. I know it’s not just because Dom is gone but you’re extra emotional.” I groaned rubbing my hands down my face.

“Are you saying I’m pregnant?” I hissed.

“Are you?” She looked me over trying to figure it out.

“Of course not.” I shook my head, not believing my own words.

“Relax, but are you for sure?” I shook my head, rubbing my hands against my face. This can not be happening.

“Kins.” She whispered squeezing my arm.

“What the hell am I going to do if I am?” I cried.

“We will figure that out. Let’s get a test and find out.”

“Can we go to your house?”

“Sure, let me go tell them you’re coming with me.” I nodded, staring down at my soup. There’s no way in hell was I ready if I am pregnant. Lucas and I are not together and having a baby would cause problems. Sawyer came back and we headed off to the store. She got out and went into the store while I waited for her to come back.

“We’re here.” She squeezed my hand as walked inside her apartment. Austin must be at work since no lights were on.

“Here’s the test.”

“Sawyer,” I whispered.

“I know. If I could do this for you, I would but I’m here for you.” I nodded taking it from her.

Tears filled my eyes as I looked down at the test. Just another thing to add to my already messed up. Tears poured down my face as my hand handed landed against my flat belly.

“What am I going to do?” I sobbed. Sawyer opened the door, pulling me right into her arms. The only feeling I have right now is numb.

“Why is this happening to me?”

“I know, but this could be the best thing that happens to you.”

“How Sawyer? I’m having a baby with someone I barely know. There’s no way in hell I’m ready to have a baby. What is Blake going to say, he’s going to freak out?” I cried.

“Don’t worry about it right now, just wrap your head around it. It is Lucas, right?”

“Yea.” I sobbed. She rubbed her hands down my back trying to soothe me. I don’t even know how I could tell him he was about to be a father. I don’t even know if he wants kids.

“Tell me what to do?”

“You know I can’t. We will figure it out tomorrow. As for tonight let’s just relax and try to calm down a little bit.” She’s right of course. I need to calm down and wrap my head around all of this. I pulled away and went to the living room and curled up. Maybe she is right this is the best thing that happens to me, but it doesn’t feel like it right now. I looked up at Sawyer as she walked into the living room.

“Looks like someone already has their momma wrapped around their finger.” She smiled at my hand on my belly. I pulled away, sitting up so she had room to sit down.

“I didn’t even realize I was doing it. It doesn’t seem real.” She nodded, taking my hand squeezing it.

“I’m here every step of the way.” She smiled.

“Thank you.”

“How are you going to tell Blake and Dom?” I sighed looking the other way. I don’t want to wait for them to come home since it’s never actually locked in when.

“A letter, I’ll make sure they read it together.”

“That’s a good idea.”

I sat at the counter as Sawyer fussed around in the kitchen. It still hasn’t sunken in that I was pregnant. Sawyer, of course, made a baby-friendly breakfast but honestly, it looked disgusting.

“Do I have to eat this?”

“Yes, it’s good for you.” She smiled.

“It looks gross.”

“There’s my girls.” I looked and saw mom smiling at us.

“Hey, I didn’t even hear you.”

“I just came to check on this one. Sawyer, what are you trying to feed your sister?” Mom looked at the gross liquid as it sat in front of me.

“I’m trying this new thing and I want her to try to help her feel better.”

“Yea, I’ll pass.” I sighed pushing the gross liquid away.

“Kinsley.” Sawyer groaned. Giving me the mom look.

“Okay, what is going on between you two.” Mom looked between us making me sigh.

“Nothing.”

“Kins.” Sawyer sighed.

“One of you talk now.” She hissed. I turned away as the tears poured down my face.

“I’m pregnant,” I whispered.

“Oh, honey.” Mom gasped pulling me into her arms.

“Please don’t be mad.”

“Of course not. When did you find out?”

“Last night.”

“Is it Brandon’s?” I shook my head. I don’t know what I would do if the baby was his.

“No, I’ve been seeing this other guy. I just wanted a distraction and I guess I got more than I bargained for.”

“You sure did but that’s okay. Honey, I know how scared you are, believe me, I was there once.”

“You were married when you had Blake.”

“I was, but you both know I miscarried before that. When I was pregnant with you, I was especially scared. I had already lost a little girl, I was not prepared to lose another. This baby could be a positive thing for you.” I nodded.

I know they are both right this could be a good thing. I had a dream last of the baby and felt so real. I had just given birth and he was looking up at with me with so much love. My hand rested against my belly, trying to feel some type of comfort from my little one.

“How am I going to tell daddy?”

“Honey you got him wrapped around your finger, he will support you.”
