Chapter 12

I squeezed Lucas’s hand as we waited for our baby to show up on the screen.

“There’s the little one.” The nurse smiled making us sigh in relief.

“Everything is okay right?” Lucas asked nervously.

“Yes, everything is just fine. The little one is measuring in at twelve weeks. If you guys want I can tell you what you're having.” I looked at Lucas trying to see what he wanted to do.

“How about we wait till next time?”

“Yea we will wait till next time.”

“Probably a good idea this little one is a little shy today.” She smiled taken more measurements. I looked at Lucas finding him smiling at the screen. Maybe things will finally turn around.

“You okay?” Lucas asked looking worried.

“Never been better.” I smiled leaning up to kiss him.

“Alright, you two here’s the picture of the little one.” She handed the pictures to Lucas while I cleaned off my belly.

“Thank you.”

“Okay, I will see you guys in a couple of days. Hopefully little wants us to know next time. Have a good day.”

“You too.” She smiled leaving the room.

“Are you sure your okay?” Lucas asked. I sat up wrapping my arms around his waist.

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me. Having this baby feels like I’m finally turning my life around. Thank you for everything you do. I don’t know if I could have done this by myself.” Tears filled my eyes as he wrapped his arms around me tighter.

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m always going to be here for you and the baby no matter what happens.”

“Can we get out of here?”

“You know we have to go to your sisters.”

“Are you nervous?” He sighed kissing my forehead.

“A little bit. I think I would be more nervous if your brother was there.”

“I’m nervous about that. But he’s dating your sister too.”

“True but he didn’t knock up my sister.”

“Let’s get out of here before we get yelled at.” He whipped my tears away kissing me.

We left and headed towards my sister. Of course, knowing my sister I should have known she would invite the whole family over.

“I’m sorry I should have known better. Sawyer invited a few more people.” He smiled squeezing my hand.

“It will be fine I promise.” I nodded trying to take comfort in his words.

“It’s about time.” Sawyer walked over wrapping her arms around me.

“The doctor was running late. Everything is okay. Sawyer this is Lucas.”

“It’s so good to finally meet you.” She smiled hugging him.

“You too I’ve heard so much about you.” Austin walked over smiling at us.

“Lucas this is my soon to be brother in law Austin.”

“What’s up. How about I introduce you to everyone.”

“Thanks.” He smiled at me before following Austin.

“Hey, momma.” Mom smiled as she wrapped her arms around me.

“Hi, mom.” I smiled as she pulled away. Aunt Lorelai came over hugging me.

“How did the appointment go?” Mom asked looking worried.

“Everything is good. Baby is measuring right where they e supposed to be. Next time we go we get to find out the gender.”

“That’s good.”

“Can we talk about baby daddy?” I groaned turning to Sawyer.

“What I’m just saying that the baby is going to be super cute.” I nodded finding Lucas talking with my dad and uncle Chase.

“Where’s Emily and Cole?” I asked Lorelai.

“Both of them had finals. Callen is on a class trip. Sawyer is right though Kins, Lucas is pretty cute.” She smiled.

“Thank you I’m going to go check on him.” I smiled walking over wrapping my arms around Lucas.

“Are you guys being nice to him?” I looked between my dad and uncle.

“Of course. He was just telling us how it was growing up with five brothers and sisters.”

“It’s crazy but I’m so thankful for all of them. My dad has four brothers and sisters. He’s also a twin like I am.”

“Maybe you will have twins.” Uncle Chase smirked.

“Nope, just one baby. As cool as it sounds to have twins I’m happy with just the one. Besides I’m the one giving birth.”

“Baby girl can I talk to you for a minute?” I nodded following my dad outside.

“How are you doing?”

“I’m okay. I’m still trying to wrap my head around all of this. I don’t know what I would do without Lucas. I wish Dom and Blake were here for all this.”

“They will be home before you know it. As for Lucas, he seems great. I can see he cares about you and the baby.”

“Thank you.”

“I’m here if you ever need anything.” I nodded wrapping my arms around him.

“Love you, daddy.”

“Love you too honey.”

After a few hours of hanging out with family Lucas and I headed back to his apartment.

“I’m so tired.” I groaned curling up on his bed. Lucas sighed pulling me into his arms.

“It’s been a long day. See you had nothing to worry about everything went fine.”

“Can I ask you something?” I whispered. He nodded rubbing his hand down my arm trying to calm me down.

“Of course.”

“Does it bother you that I’m partially deaf?” He quickly turned me over so he could look at me.

“I never gave it a second thought. You are perfect the way you are. I’m glad our baby has you for a mom. You will teach them things I never could.”

“What about the baby. What if the baby is deaf?”

“I’m not going to lie it scares me. I’ve never experienced it and I just want everything to be okay.” I nodded. He had no idea what to expect and it scares me too.

“If the baby is deaf you will learn sign right?”

“Of course. I probably should start now. If something happens to you. I want to be able to know your okay too.”

“Lucas I’m scared too. When I was a kid I was bullied and I don’t want our baby to go through that. I had my brother and Dom but our baby won’t have that.”

“Before we get too far ahead of ourselves let’s just see what happens. All those kids that bullied you had no idea how amazing you are.”

“Thank you seriously for everything.”

“Get some sleep momma.” I smiled leaning into him kissing him.

“I’m not so tired now.”

“I have a few ideas.” He smirked pulling me closer kissing down my neck.
