Arms tightened around me as I felt them rollover. Sighing I opened my eyes to find mom still sleeping. She stirred opening her eyes, smiling at me.
“Morning baby, did you sleep okay?”
“Yea. Sorry for crawling in here?”
“Don’t be sorry. I miss when you kids used to do it.” She smiled.
“I just wanted to be near you.”
“I’m always here. Come on let’s go wake up your dad and make breakfast.” I nodded pulling away from her. Walking to the guest room I could hear my dad snoring. Deciding to let him sleep a little longer I went downstairs to help mom.
“Your picking Dom, up right?” Mom asked.
“Yea, I’m going to leave in a little bit.”
“He’s leaving again right?” I shrugged not knowing.
“I don’t think so.” I sighed trying to remember if he was leaving again. I miss having my best friend around, so it would be nice for him to stay a little while longer.
I watched as Dom smiled making his way over to me. Once he got in range he pulled me tight in his arms. That safe and at home feeling came rushing back. He leaned kissing the top of my head making all those feelings go right away. Disgust filled my body as I pulled away from him.
“Feels good to be back.” He smiled looking me over.
“Your leave is up right?”
“Yes, but I’m staying here.”
“Good.” I smiled climbing into the truck.
“You okay, you seem off?” He frowned climbing into the truck next to me.
“Yea I’m fine. Let’s head to Blake’s so you can settle in.” I nodded trying to calm myself down. He grabbed my hand not making me feel any better. We pulled up to Blake’s and I helped him with his stuff.
“Dom,” I whispered as I sat on the couch.
“What’s wrong?” He frowned, looking worried.
“You're leaving again, even though you just got here?”
“Kins, I know but this is it. All my stuff is here so when I come home, I’m finally home.”
“Still.” I sighed.
“Let’s not be sad let’s have a good day. I’m here for the next couple of days.”
“What should we do?”
“Let’s head to the beach.” He smirked.
“I have anything here.”
“Go get it. I’ll change and make us some lunch.”
“Fine.” I sighed looking at him.
My phone went off letting me know she was here. I smiled grabbing our lunches and a towel before heading downstairs. I watched her smile as I got closer, but it seemed forced. I put the stuff in the back before climbing in the front with her.
“You okay?” I hate the feeling of knowing something’s wrong.
“Yea.” She nodded but her body language was telling me otherwise.
“Yea it’s just been a long night.”
“Let’s have a good day.” I smiled trying to get her to smile. She smiled as I grabbed her hand giving her a small squeeze. Something deep is upsetting her and I need to get to the bottom of this. I hate to almost say that it feels awkward to be around her. Once we pulled up to the beach I helped her get all the stuff out before going to our spot.
“Need help with the lotion?” I asked her out of old habit.
“Please.” I smiled, grabbing the lotion from the bag as she moved over to me. She moved her hair, so I could get her shoulders.
“Kins, are sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine, now come on turn around so I can do your back.” I smiled handing her the lotion, so she could do my back in shoulders. If anyone saw us like this, they would probably think we’re a couple.
“Come on I’ll race you to the water.” She jetted off towards the water. Smirking I gave her a head start before chasing after her. I wrapped my arms around her just as she hit the water. She squealed as I carried her deeper into the water.
“Dom.” She smiled pushing away from me, so she could swim.
“There’s that smile.” I smiled watching her swim around.
“You know this is one of my favorite places.”
“Why do you think I brought you here?”
“Because you’re the best.” I smiled pulling her back into my arms.
“Promise me when I get back we will spend more time together.”
“Of course, you know you can call and write to me anytime.”
“It’s not the same.” She nodded me hugging me back.
I watched as she swam around by herself. Finally, she seemed to relax back into her normal self. Her beautiful smile returned and hasn’t left. I grabbed a towel for her as she walked up to me. She took the towel wrapping it around herself as she sat down next to me.
“Thank you for today.”
“Of course, needed some quality time with my best girl.” She turned her head, but I could still her smiling.
“So how is it that you weren’t getting deployed but now you are?”
“Something happened with one of the guys there. I’ll be with Blake.”
“I guess that makes it a little better.”
“We’ll be home before you know it.” I sighed wrapping an arm around her pulling her close to me. Her arms wrapped around me as I kissed her forehead.
“Can we eat Chinese and watch movies?”
“Sounds perfect, you ready?”
“A few more minutes.” I smiled looking up at the sunset. The smile on her face seemed brighter as she watched the sunset. I sighed watching her reaction change.
“Beautiful.” She whispered making me turn my head. We pulled away and gathered our things before heading back to Blake’s.
“I’ll let you take a shower first.”
“I forgot to bring extra clothes.”
“You know you can wear mine.” She nodded as we got out and headed up to the apartment. I set the stuff down before going to my room and grabbing her some clothes. She came over grabbing the shirt and boxers while I went back into the living room. I pulled my phone out and ordered all our favorites. Her phone went off pulling me away from my thoughts. I looked over making sure it wasn’t her mom anything. The name Lucas appeared.
“Hey did you order?” I nodded looking back over to her. She looked so beautiful wearing my clothes and a towel on her head.
“Yea I ordered all our favorites. Go ahead and pick the movie while I jump in the shower.” She nodded while I made my way to the bathroom to take a shower. Who the hell is Lucas? Why wouldn’t she tell me about him?
I walked back in the living room where she was already curled up watching a movie. She smiled as I walked over and curled up with her.
“This is just what I need.” She sighed curling more into my side.
“Me too.” She was right this was all I need. I had my girl curled up to me and she was smiling.
