“When do we have to go?”
“Soon, we still have to get her too.”
“Then I guess you need to start getting ready.” I kissed his lips then went to get ready. I quickly got in the shower and pulled on some comfy clothes. The baby kicked and I smiled rubbing my hand there.
“We get to see you in a little bit, just have to pick up your big sister.” I sighed and went to the living room where Colin was waiting.
“You look amazing.”
“Uh-huh sure, let’s go pick up Soph so we can go.” He smiled and got up pressing his lips to mine kissing me softly before we left. We pulled up and I went inside to get her. Rickey opened the door and I walked inside
“Sophia come on.” I yelled as I placed my hand on my back. Rickey just looked at me in awe.
“You look beautiful.” He smiled.
“Thanks, I feel like a whale.”
“We find out now?” Sophia came running in.
“Yes, Colin is in the car. Go say bye to daddy.”
“Bye daddy, love you.”
“Love you too princess. ” She came back over to me taking my hand.
“Thank you, we’ll talk later.” He nodded his head and I took Sophia back to the car so we could go.
“Ready to see if you’re going to have a sister or brother.”
“We’ll see. ” He smiled at her as we pulled up and I saw my mom getting out of her car.
“Sophia, you ready to see the baby?”
“Yes, I get to see my sister.”
“Come on, let’s go and find out.” Colin took my hand as we walked inside, while Sophia stayed with my mom. We signed in and sat down.
“Hey, did you have fun at daddies?”
“What did you do?”
“We watched a movie and colored.”
“Sounds like fun.” The baby kicked and I reached for her hands, she quickly moved to feel the baby kick.
“Cool huh?” She smiled, leaning down kissing my belly.
“Love you sissy.”
“Kiss.” She leaned up and gave me a kiss making me smile.
“McKenna Morris.” Colin helped me up and Sophia took my hand as we went back to the room.
“Hi, Doctor Fox.”
“Sorry McKenna, Dr. Patton couldn’t be here today.”
“Dr. Fox delivered you.” I smiled at Sophia.
“Can we see my sissy?”
“Sure can, little cutie. What’s your name?”
Colin helped me up before sitting next to me taking my hand. My mom sat down next to him and pulled Sophia into her arms.
“Do you know if it’s a girl?”
“No, she likes to think that,” Colin said while he turned to me smiling. She put the gel on my belly and we turned to look at the screen.
“Yea that’s the baby.” I smiled looking at Sophia before going back to the baby.
“Ready to find out?”
“Yea.” She smiled and turned to Sophia with a smile on her face.
“Sophia, did you want a sister?”
“Well, you’re going to have a sister.”
“Mommy, I’m going to have a sister.” She smiled.
“I know baby, you get to have a little sister.”
“Do you guys have any names yet?”
“Well, she is looking good. I’ll print off the pictures.”
“Thank you.” She gave me a napkin so I could clean off my belly.
“You guys have a great day.”
“You too.” I smiled and Colin helped me down. Sophia quickly came over hugging me. I smiled wrapping my arms around her.
“Of course, come on let's go get something to eat.”
“You’re too heavy for me to hold right now.” She frowned and we left to go over to my moms.
(Sophie Mckenna's mom pov)
“So we found out I get to have another granddaughter.” I smiled at my mom.
“Are they happy?”
“Yea Sophia is so excited.”
“I’m so sorry you never got a brother or sister.”
“It’s okay mom. I have Payten, she is the closest thing to a sister plus I have Lacey.”
“I suppose, we’re they thinking of a name? The last time they were here, they didn’t?”
“They haven’t decided on one yet, but McKenna was thinking Maggie.”
“It’s cute, she’s going to be cute. ”
“I can’t wait to have my first grandson.”
“Who do you think it will be?”
“I have a feeling it will be Gavin.” She stopped and coughed while I got her some water.
“It’s okay.” She sighed and lay back against the pillow.
“I’m sorry, I’m tired.”
“You should rest, I will be back tomorrow. Love you, mom.”
“Love you too honey.” I kissed her forehead and left her going back home. All the kids were out, thankfully Nathan was home. I walked in finding him curled up on the couch watching a game.
“Hey.” He opened his arms and I went right into his arms curling up.
“I miss you.”
“Miss you too. How did it go talking to your mom?”
“It was good, she’s resting now.”
“Are we getting a granddaughter or a grandson?”
“What do you think?”
“Really another girl.”
“Yep, my mom and I were talking about it. I told her the first one to have a boy will probably be Gavin.”
“We’ll see. Sophia excited?”
“Oh yea, she’s going to be a great big sister.”
“I don’t think this one will be as bad, Sophia is her twin.”
“That’s for sure.” I leaned up kissing his cheek then my phone went off. He grabbed my phone for me and handed it to me. The hospital was calling.
“Yes, this is she.”
“I’m sorry to tell you this, but your mother has passed away.”
“I was just with her.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“Thank you.” I hung up and the tears filled my eyes and I sobbed.
“She’s gone.” He didn’t say anything he just held me tight in his arms.
“We were getting close, after all this time she comes then she dies. Why did she have to do that?”
“She wanted a chance to know you and our family. Yes, she came at it in the completely wrong way, but you got to have a relationship you never thought you would have.”
“I never got to say goodbye.”
“You were there Soph. Maybe she didn’t want you to watch her die.”
“She’s my mom.”
“I know babe.” He kissed my forehead rubbed my shoulder as I cried against him.
“We’re going to get through this. I’m going to be with you every step of the way.”
“I love you.”
“Love you too.”
“Mom.” McKenna came in the door with tears in her eyes as she came up to wrap her arms around me.
“I’m so sorry.”
“Do you need anything?”
“Just my babies and grandbabies.” She nodded and pulled away so we could sit on the couch. Sophia came over and climbed onto my lap giving me a hug.
“Love you nana.”
“Love you too munchkin.”
“She is kicking.” Sophia quickly moved to feel her sisters kick.
“Maybe she wants out.”
“She still has a little while before she comes out. Right now she is too little.”
“You guys think of any more names?”
“No, we still have time though.“I nodded.
She moved to rest her head against my shoulder while Sophia came and curled up with me again.
“Sorry kiddo’s, I’m going to take Nana up to bed.” Dad said. Sydney pulled away and went over to Sean who was falling asleep with Sutton asleep against her. We all gave my mom a hug before she went upstairs.
“I’m going to put them to bed then I will be back.”
“Yea I’m going to lay her down and I will be back down.” I took Sophia’s hand and took her to her room that was still set up.
“Sweet dreams princess, I love you.”
“Love you, mommy.”
“If you need me I’ll be downstairs or in my room okay.”
“Okay.” I kissed her forehead and headed to my room to change where Colin was.
“Hey, are you staying in here?”
“Yea. You need to be with your brothers.” I went over and pecked his lips.
“I love you.”
“Love you too.” I pecked his lip again before going back downstairs where Gavin was. Elliot came and sat on the other side of me.
“I hate seeing mom so upset like that.”
“It breaks my heart.”
“She’s angry and upset.”
“I barely even remember grandma growing up. I do remember she tried taking me from mom, but Gigi saved me. She also tried to get custody of me from mom and dad.”
“She took mom to the hospital when she was in labor with me and stayed till after I was born.”
“I don’t think I have any stories to compare to.” Gavin sighed.
“She was always cold.”
“Mom is so warm.”
“Cause she had Aunt Payten and daddy.”
“True and we got lucky.”
“And if it weren’t for me, you two wouldn’t be here.”
“You know it’s true, I brought mom and dad back together.”
“They still loved each other, but we’re just too stubborn.” I groaned as the baby kicked me in the ribs.
“Yea just a nice kick in the ribs.”
“It’s still weird seeing you pregnant sometimes.”
“Because you’re my sister.”
“And I always will be. Sometimes I can’t believe I have a daughter and I’m about to have another one pretty soon. I miss hanging out with my brothers.”
“After you have this one, we should go out and get drinks.”
“We should.” I rubbed my belly as she finally calmed down.
“Want help up?”
“Used to it.” I smiled as he got up and helped me up.
“Thank you.” I hugged them both before going upstairs to curl up with Colin. He smiled as I came in and opened his arms for me.
“I hate seeing her so upset.”
“She just needs a couple of days and her babies she will be okay.”
“I know. I don’t know what I would do if I lost her.”
“She’s not going anywhere for a long time.” I nodded, sighing against him as he held onto me.
“Thank you for being here for me.”
