Chapter 22

Three months later...

(Rickey’s pov)

I heard my name and banging on the door so I quickly go up and went to the door.

“McKenna.” I sighed. All of a sudden she jumped in my arms, wrapping her arms and legs around me.

“I think someone has been drinking?”

“Who?” She pulled away frowning.

“You silly, I better get you home.”

“No, I want to stay here with you.” She smiled as she leaned in pressing her lips to mine. I moaned against her mouth as I brought her back to my room laying her down. She tugged on my hair making me groan against her mouth. My hands ran down her body and played with the hem of her shirt. She played with the hem of my shirt and I helped her pull it off before going back kissing down her neck. She grabbed onto me and flipped us over so now she was on top. I watched as she grabbed the hem of her shirt and pulled it off.

“Beautiful.” I smiled. She smiled and came back down crashing her lips into mine while our hands roamed each other. I flipped us back over while I kissed down her chest while my hands massaged her boobs making her moan.

“I need you.” I stopped and looked at her. I wanted to, I wanted to so bad, but it’s not right.

“Please.” She begged.

“No, I’m not taking advantage of you when you’ve been drinking.” She grabbed onto my shaft and just looked at me.

“I can tell you want to.”

“Baby I do, but you’re not ready and it would be wrong.”

“Fine, I will go get someone else.” She tried to get up but I only held onto her tighter.

“No, you stay here with me.” I grabbed my shirt and put it on her before taking off her bra and jeans.

“No, I want it to be different.” I looked at her, her eyes closed so I pulled her against me cuddling her. We shouldn’t have done what we’ve done, but it was so hard to stop it. The next time we are together like this, I want to be able to make love to her the right way. I kissed her forehead before falling asleep holding the woman I love in my arms.

I woke up to McKenna still sound asleep in m/ arms. I pushed the hair out of her face leaning down kissing her forehead. Looking at her now she looks even more like Sophia. She stirred and curled more into me.

“Morning beautiful.”

“Don’t talk so loud.” She groaned.

“How did I end up here?”

“I’m guessing a taxi dropped you off. Do you remember anything from last night?”

“Dancing with Faith and her shoving drinks down my throat. Please tell me I didn’t do or say something stupid.”

“Well, I don’t know what you said before.”

“Oh no.”

“Do you want me to tell you?”

“Yes and no, just tell me.”

“Well, you came knocking and yelling my name. Once I opened the door you jumped on me wrapping yourself around me. We made out for a little bit and you begged me to have sex with you. I said no, and you pulled away, saying you were going to find someone else. I pulled you back and got you ready for bed. You asked again and I said no before you fell asleep.”

“Please tell me you’re lying.” Horror washed over her face as she shook her head.

“I’m so embarrassed.” She groaned, trying to cover herself.

“Don’t be, you needed a night of fun.”

“Yea, but I can’t believe I said that.”

“It’s okay.”

“Well thank you for last night.”

“Anytime, I didn’t want to take advantage of you, it wasn’t right.”

“I should go.”

“You don’t have to, stay here and sleep before we go get the girls.”

“You have a girlfriend, what if she sees us like this?”

“She’s at work, don’t worry about it.” She sighed and fell back asleep. I know we still have a lot to talk about, but that can wait until tonight.

I woke up a few hours later with a message from Cammie asking to talk.

“I’m going to head home and get the house ready before I get them.”

“Okay, I will see you later.” She nodded and pulled her clothes back on before leaving. I told Cammie she could come over. I took a shower and got ready when Cammie came inside.

“Hey, how was work?”

“I didn’t work today. I wanted to spend the day with you.”

“Oh sorry.”

“What did you do all day?”

“Is there anything going on between you and McKenna?” I turned to her finding her looking down.

“No, nothing is going on.”

“So, did she stay here last night?”

“What are you talking about?”

“I saw you and her this morning. I saw her clothes on ground Rickey.” She hissed looking up at me.

“She was wearing my shirt. We didn’t have sex.”

“Do you have feelings for her?”

“Yes.” I was done lying about how I feel about her.

“I can’t do this anymore.”

“I’m so sorry.” She nodded.

“Does she know how you feel about her?”

“No, and I don’t want to push her.”

“I should go. I’m going to get my things.”

“Cammie, I am sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen.”

“I know, just take care of those girls.”

“I will.” I smiled at her and she went and grabbed her things before leaving. I felt bad that I hurt her, but I’m happy we are done. I grabbed some things and headed over to McKenna’s. When I pulled up she wasn’t here so I went inside so I could wait for them.

“Hey princess.” She ran in and jumped in my arms.

“I don’t have to stay at Nana’s anymore.”

“I know, but you will still go to Nana’s every once in a while.”

“But with mommy.”

“Daddy, when do I get to see Cammie again?”

“I don’t know honey. Daddy and Cammie are not together anymore.”

“What?” I looked over and found McKenna frowning at me.

“It just wasn’t working.”

“It’s not because.” I shook my head.

“We can talk about it later.” She nodded and we got the kids fed, bathed, and all put to bed. Once that was all done we went and sat down on the couch.

“Tell me what happened?”

“We just weren’t working anymore.”

“Is it because you're here all the time?”

“She, of course, didn’t like that, but you guys needed me.”

“She caught us this morning didn’t she?”

“Yea she did, so she came over after you left and we got into a fight. She’s okay with it and so am I.”

“Can I ask you something and you have to answer honestly?”

“Go for it?”

“Rickey, do you have feelings for me?”

(McKenna’s pov)

He sighed trying to figure out what to say.

“Yes, I think I always have and I tried to fight them. It hurt like hell finding out you were getting married and having another baby that wasn’t mine. When all this happened I just wanted to be there for you and the girls. ”

“Rickey.” I sighed.

“I know you’re not ready to move on and that is fine. Just being here with you and the girls is enough.”

“I think we need to put some space between us.” He sighed and nodded in agreement.

“I didn’t mean to freak you out. ”

“No you didn’t, everyone keeps telling me you have feelings for me.”

“And what did you say?”

“I just denied it.”

“Do you have feelings for me?” I looked at him not knowing how to answer. Honestly, I didn’t even think about if I had feelings for him. I love having him here. I love when he holds me. I remember when we kissed last night it felt so amazing.

“Yea, I guess I do.”

“You guess?” He frowned.

“Just with everything going on, I didn’t think about it. Rickey, I’m so scared. I just lost Colin and I don’t know if I’m ready to be in this with you. I don’t want people to think I didn’t love Colin because I moved on so fast.”

“I’m not saying we have to jump into anything, we can continue what we’ve been doing. We all know how you love Colin, no one expects you to sulk forever. I know he would have wanted you to move on.”

“But with you?”

“Hey now.” I smiled.

“If I did end up marrying some else, I would not want to have three baby daddies.”

“It’s a good thing you have me.”

“Yea, I just feel bad for Ellie.”

“You know I would do anything for that little girl. If she ever needed me, I would be there.” I looked at him and I could tell he was serious.

“Do you want me to go or should I stay?”

“Can we talk about last night?”

“What about it?”

“Thank you for taking care of me and not letting me go find someone random.”

“Anytime, do you remember what I said to you?” I frowned as he moved closer a little bit, but there was still a little bit of distance between us.

“I told you, the next time we had sex, I was going to make love to you.” I gasped as I looked at him and he moved closer to me.

“McKenna, can I kiss you?” I closed my eyes nodding as he leaned in pressing his lips to mine. As much as I hated to admit it before, I love it when Rickey kisses me. I ran my fingers through his hair as he pulled me to him. I moaned as his arms wrapped around me. Slowly I pulled away and rested my head against his shoulder.

“Mama.” I heard and I knew it wasn’t Soph, it was Ellie. I quickly jumped off him and ran into Ellie’s room.

“Mama.” I smiled looking down at her.

“Right here baby girl.” I pulled her into my arms and went over to the rocking chair holding her close.

“That’s right I’m your momma.” I kissed her forehead and rocked her back to sleep with her holding onto my fingers tightly.

“I love you so much, Ellie.” I held her for a little bit longer, rocking her back to sleep before I pulled away and got up. Rickey was still in the living room when I walked in.

“She okay?”

“Yea. Just needed cuddles with mommy. Her first word was momma.” I smiled as I realized that was her first word.

“Her first word was momma.”

“What was Soph’s?”

“Such momma’s girls.”

“Yea we’ll see how long that lasts.”

“You’re still a momma’s girl.”

“I guess. I’m pretty tired.”

“Am I staying?”

“Yea.” I walked into my room pulling on pajamas before lying down. He stripped off his clothes and lay next to me.

“I don’t want to start anything just yet, I want to get used to the idea.”

“We will go as slow as you want.”

“Thank you.” He pulled me closer and kissed my forehead while I snuggled up to him. I kissed his chest and heard him sigh.

“Night.” And with that, I fell asleep in his arms.
