Chapter 3

Thankfully enough we got Sophia tired out before I had to leave, so she was asleep in her bed. I kissed her forehead before heading back downstairs.

“Are you nervous?” Mom asked.

“Yea, I haven’t been on a date in years and I don’t like leaving her.”

“You both will be fine. She is asleep and if she needs you I will call okay.” I nodded and she rubbed my shoulders. There was a knock on the door and my mom squeezed me.

“Love you, have fun.”

“Love you too, and thank you for this.”

“You needed it.” I smiled, opening the door finding Colin. He was smiling and holding flowers in his hand.

“You look beautiful.”

“Thank you and thank you for these.”

“Here I will take those. Hi, I’m Sophie, her mom.”

“Colin, it’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Morris.”

“You too Colin, now you two go have fun.”

“Thanks, mom.” She smiled taking the flowers while I went to Colin's car.

“Your mom seems cool.”

“Yea she is.” I smiled getting into the car. We drove to a cute little diner. We went inside and sat down. The waitress came over setting down the menus, taking our drink orders.

“You nervous?”

“Honestly yes, I haven’t been on a date in years.”

“Well, that’s a shame. Did that guy have something to do with it?” I shook my head not wanting to think about it. Rickey was the last thing I wanted to think about.

“Sort of. Can we please not talk about him?”

“Sorry, you're right. You’re supposed to have a good night.”

“Thank you.”

We ordered and he just smiled at me.

“Thank you for ordering a burger, most girls just order salads.”

“I’m not like other girls,” I smirked making him smile.

“Got that right, and I like that about you.” I wasn’t like a lot of other girls, I had a baby.

“I’ll take that as a compliment.”

I checked my phone just in case Sophia needed me.

“Everything okay?”

“Relax.” He didn’t understand what it was like to be a mother. I was always worried something was wrong, even though I knew she was perfectly fine. He took my hand and I sighed relaxing, something in his touch made me relax.

Our food came and he helped me calm down a lot more. We finished eating then we went down by the park. He made us a fire while I spread out the blanket and sat down. Once he was done he came over and sat down next to me. I sighed and moved closer leaning against him.

“So tell me why did you want to ask me out?” I asked curiously.

“Like I said I like how you are different. You are beautiful and amazing. There is something special about you. Why did you say yes?”

“You’re a good guy and you help me relax.”

“You know you can tell me anything.” I nodded, but I just wasn’t quite ready to tell him about Sophia yet. He was also talking about Rickey and that time will come when I’m ready to talk about Sophia.

“There are things I’m not ready to talk about yet, but I do want to talk about them.”

“Whenever you’re ready.”

“Thank you.”

“So, I have a sister that is dying to meet you.”

“You talk about me to your sister?”

“She’s my best friend, so of course. I only tell her good things.”

“Well, then I would love to meet her.”

“How about next weekend?”

“Sounds good to me.”

“She’s going to love you.”

“Hope so.” I could lie in his arms the rest of the night, but I knew I had to get back to my baby soon.

“We should get you back; you’re going to fall asleep.” I nodded and he helped me up before putting out the fire. He took my hand as I wrapped my arms around his waist resting my head against his shoulder. We walked back to his car and helped me in before going to his side. I sighed as we pulled up to my house. He got out and came to my side helping me out.

“Thank you for tonight, I had an amazing time.”

“Me too. Thank you for saying yes.” I smiled as he wrapped his arms around me and I wrapped mine around him.

“I should go inside.” He nodded, pulling away looking down at me. I leaned in and so did he both our lips met. I giggled and pulled away from him.

“I need to get going.”

“Okay, I will see you on Monday.” He pecked my lips again before I went inside.

“Have a nice night.” I groaned hearing his annoying voice. I turned the corner finding the devil himself smirking at me.

“What are you doing here?” I hissed at Rickey.

“Came to see my girls.”

“I am not your girl, besides Sophia was asleep when I left.”

“She woke up and came looking for you, but I was here instead.”

“Is she asleep?”

“Good, now get out.” I pushed him towards the door but he wouldn't budge.

“Don’t you think we should talk about this guy?”

“I don’t want him around my daughter.” He hissed as I started to see red.

“Excuse me, she is our daughter and you don’t get to make that decision. Besides he doesn’t know she exists yet. Colin is a great guy and you will not ruin this for me.”

“Don’t worry, he will run when he finds out.”

“Like you did.” I fought back.

“I changed.”

“Barely, you’re still an asshole.”

“And you’re a bitch.”

“Because of you. I had to grow up when I became a mom, while you became a bigger asshole.” I yelled.

“Try dealing with you.”

“I hate you.”

“That’s enough you two, Rickey you need to leave now.” Mom came down yelling at us. He glared at me and left. I ran my fingers through my hair and looked at my mom.

“I’m sorry.”

“What are you fighting about?”

“Us, Colin.”

“Mommy.” I turned and scooped her up as she ran into my arms.

“You two get up to bed, I will talk to you tomorrow.”

“Love you.”

“Love you too.” She kissed my forehead and we headed upstairs.

“Alright princess, back to bed.”

“I want to stay with you.”

“Don’t you want to stay in your bed?”

“No, I’m scared.”

“Just tonight, then back in your bed tomorrow.”

“Okay.” I brought her into my room and changed before curling up with her.

“Love you.”

“Love you.” I kissed her forehead and went right to sleep.
